Radford Court Apartments

Overall I have really enjoyed living in Radford Court for the past 4 years. My roommate and I have lived in the 1 bdrm + loft, 2 bdrm, and now a 3bdrm. Every apartment we been in has had minor problems at the beginning that get fixed quickly, and maintenance is very fast and kind. The apartments are reasonably priced for the quality and location (close to the Burke-​Gilman and buses that go to the UW and downtown). All of our next-​door neighbors have been great, generally no noise complaints or otherwise. Radford is great for both families and students who want a quieter environment.
Unfortunately, a situation over the past year has tainted my view of this apartment complex. It has become clear that they do not enforce their leasing policies — especially when it comes to pets. I love pets as next as the next person but when they are hostile, or certain dog breeds I am allergic to, they need to stay inside or on a leash at all times. Frequent violations of the lease terms seems to result in no punitive actions whatsoever by management. If you have any severe allergies or annoyances by pets keep this in mind if you’re thinking about living here.
Front desk staff has always been friendly and helpful, but we have constantly had struggles with and been disrespected by the upper-​level management. From transfer fee confusions, to promises about apartment amenities that were not actually available, to backlash from trying to get them to uphold their least with other residents, to not being taken seriously because we’re younger renters, we have dealt with it all. You’ll have a great experience working with Radford Court unless you have a larger problem that goes to the higher-​ups.

I’ve lived here for two years. It’s wonderfully maintained and a great place to raise kids. The office staff are a mixed bag. Some are the nicest people, and others are frigid and (rarely) rude. I’ve always felt like my family was safe here, and the maintenance and landscaping crews are always very friendly and efficient.
The biggest problem is that the gym is not big enough. I’ve just come back from a trip there, and I was waiting in line for the bench press. Problem was, there were already others waiting in line, and after 45 minutes I had to leave. This happens to me about twice a month. It’s seriously annoying and it wastes my time. I don’t have time to go drive somewhere else, and so that means I often have to forgo my workout. My stress levels and waistline are both increased because of this.
It’s a beautiful complex and it’s super close to UW. My personal gripes aside, I highly recommend it for students and faculty — especially if you have a family. But get on the waiting list! It’s generally pretty long.

Radford Court is pretty awesome in both my husbands opinion. We lived there for two years in a 1 bedroom with a study but had to move out for more space and a baby on the way. The apartments are well sound proofed (and probably our neighbors were also good) but only on one occasion did we ever hear anything from our neighbors above us and that was when they had a sleep over. Sometimes we heard music trailing up from Magnuson park (the park was a huge highlight– we walked there almost daily! As well as the Burke Gillman for bikers can’t be underestimated if it works for your commute!). Truly, we were spoiled in terms of sound. No sound of cars or anything. And we had great and friendly neighbors (that is not guaranteed of course!!).
We loved sitting on our porch for dinner during the summer. Maintenance and the leasing office are very responsive to any concerns super promptly! It has great countertop spaces and cabinets that we were able to fit a lot of crap into our kitchen (we also stored things ON TOP of the cabinets). The bathrooms have GREAT use of space as well.
Of course, you will never feel like you can get that kitchen floor not looking dirty. A couple of other draw backs– for bikers, the bike locking stations are not safe for locking lovely bikes– you just aren’t able to u-​lock your bike. Bike thieves troll the property and steal bikes on the regular. They know it and tell you to leave your bikes inside even though it tells you not to on the lease (Note: I got my bike back using the Stolen Bike Registry online). Also, the walk score is 27. Which means you can’t walk to any coffee shops, grocery stores, pubs etc. Huge drawback for our lifestyle.
We were originally shown an apartment that had a big closet in the living room and ended up in an apartment without it– so we purchased this awesome cabinet that was huge and stored a lot of stuff and kept it in the hallway. It took a lot of space though (along with the bicycles) which was a big bummer for an already smallish apartment. The lack of storage and closet space may be a problem for couples with gear. And I would say that the rent is a bit steep for a 2 bedroom that we actually moved to a pretty sweet condo with a walk score up in the 60s and more access to buses downtown, that is fairly equivalent in price but that is a LOT nicer. All that said, we really did love it– the use of the club house with a grill for events is a HUGE convenience and perk. We will miss it, though we are also incredibly happy being able to walk to places right now.

I loved my time at Radford Court! I lived there for a year, absolutely no problems moving in our out. Wonderful spaces, great staff and an amazing location.
I lived in a one bedroom with a loft and it was awesome. A little pricey, but well worth it in this case compared to other areas in Seattle.
My only complaint was the parking spaces were a little tight, but I also drive a GMC Yukon… so take that with a grain of salt.

My husband and I have lived here for about a year in a 1 bedroom apartment. We have 2 small pugs and we love it here. We can walk to the Magnuson dog park, amazing (free) internet (super fast). The maintenance is fast and will fix anything in your apartment, even the light bulb. We have expecting a baby and wants to move into a 3 bedroom /​1 bath townhouse, Sean Kelly (the manager) was able to find us a place in a timely manner (we submitted the paper work in April and moving in August), very professional, straightforward, great personality, very friendly. We really enjoy living here, Sean has helped us so much (when we first moved in and now with the transfer). There are down side to living here but it is very minor, for example: the gym need fixing all the time. However, we love it here.

Radford Court has weird lease terms that care nothing about their tenants at all.
I’ve lived here for two years and am going to get graduated. I asked if I can extend my lease to the month when I get graduated. They said firmly no to me and charged me a $ 100 month-​to-​month penalty each month. Then when I got a job in Seattle, decided not to leave, and wanted to sign a one-​year lease, they said a firmly no to me again. They required me to align my lease to the end of July/​August. Their reason is that this place is owned by UW and they have to align with school dates. I asked whether I can extend my lease to the end of this year which is also aligned with the school dates, they said no again. Well, they didn’t buy the reason when I wanted to extend my lease to my graduation date, but then used the same reason to reject my desired longer lease terms. What I see is that they only care about how easy they can get people live here since it’s easiest to find new tenants in the summer. It’s obvious that unlike other apartments Radford Court cares only about their own convenience when it conflicts with the convenience of their tenants.
I liked living in this quiet place, and would recommend it to people who’d definitely end their leases in July/​August. But Radford Court’s weird lease terms freaked me out and I’ll probably have to move out for more flexibility.
btw. When I chatted with their manager one day, she tricked me into paying more money for nothing. When I recognized that it was a trick, she acknowledged that it was better not buying her trick. Well, this reminds me of car dealers. Maybe it’s time to have a website called

I loved living here and I miss it like crazy. If I ever move back to Seattle this place will be on my list. I lived here for just under two years as a student at UW, and although the price seemed high it was worth it. (Also, I’m paying $ 200 MORE for an apartment that’s 285 sq. feet in Silicon Valley, so there’s some perspective for you.)
Anyways, our apartment was just under 600 square feet and felt very open because of the large windows in the living room. The apartment came with a washer/​dryer in the bathroom which I was SO thrilled about. Not many apartments have that amenity. The shower was a little annoying because there wasn’t a whole lot of room to put products but that was fixed with an over-​the-​shower-​head shelving thing I got for about $ 10 at Ross.
We had a lot of problems with our toilet while we were here, which was annoying. We had it fixed all of the time but it was never fully fixed. Sometimes it would run forever, sometimes it would randomly decide it didn’t want to flush. The maintenance man was very nice though the few times I met him. This also goes for the people running the office.
I loved the close proximity to the park. On summer nights with the windows open I could hear the frogs and crickets loudly chirping and croaking which was super peaceful and lovely. It was almost like living in a small town in a big city.
The walk to the bus is nothing ridiculous, it took me about three minutes to walk there. Sometimes the bus was early and I would miss it and that sucked, but that’s nothing to do with the apartment complex.
The walls seemed pretty thick. I rarely heard my neighbors, but maybe they were just quiet. Although, once I realized one of my neighbors was playing their saxaphone and I could barely hear it.
I felt very safe in this apartment complex, which isn’t something I can say about a lot of apartment complexes in Seattle. You’re basically in between a very wealthy neighborhood and a park.
A regular grocery store is kind of a distance away if you don’t have a car, but the bus system in Seattle is pretty good, in my opinion. The lack of food options around was a bigger issue for me, because we like to go out to eat sometimes and we missed the convenience of being in the U-​District and being able to walk right down the street and being surrounded by food options.
One complaint I have about the actual apartment itself is the flooring and the cabinets. It is just hideous. The kitchen particularly was some horrible square pattern with pukey yellow mixed in there with some other weird colors. The cabinets were a weird deep red. Why?! It completely threw me off. The carpet wasn’t anything revolting, but I’m a wood-​floor person in general so this just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I actually stayed here a very long time ago, but I loved this place!!! We stayed in a 3bd townhouse, and it was nice. The neighbor was nice and quiet, and the area was very close to Magnuson Park and Lake Washington. I believe it was just built when we moved in, so everything was so nice. The wood seems to be good material, and there’s even a woodpecker pecking on our townhouse one day (and ya, he woke me up). it was quite interesting xD!
There’s a small basketball court (or just a basket to shoot basically) in the park, and in the summer there were many apples on the apple trees in the park, and nobody seems to pick them up at all… We used to take a stroll in the park after dinner, and it was nice. I remember the rent was pricy, but it was certainly worth the price.
The only thing that’s not so good is that you have to walk up the hill for like 7 minutes to get to the bus, and there is only one bus (#75). So if you don’t drive and you want to get groceries, you gotta take the bus to U village to get stuff from QFC or something. I didn’t mind it, though.

This is simply the best apartment that I have stayed at after coming to the United States. You’ll love this place if you love outdoor and biking (Magnuson park and Burk Gilman trail right around), love family life (a child care center at your door step), and love to save money (free internet !). A hidden plus is that you can pretty much get to most places except south of Seattle without dealing with downtown traffic :)
Yes it is a bit far from fancy restaurants and super markets. I guess that won’t be a issue if you have a car or like biking to haul stuff.

I’m am a UW student and have lived in the UDistrict for 4 years with dreadful and awful landlords. You cannot understand how happy I am to be now living in Radford Court Apartments.
This is going to sound ridiculous and no, I’m not being paid to write this review, but my boyfriend and I literally say every few days to each other how much we love living here. There, I said it and it’s out there for you guys to see. It sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. And here’s why:
***PROS***
LOCATION
I feel incredibly safe living in Radford. Here at Radford I’m living in a suburban neighborhood nestled between Windemere (an upper class neighborhood) and Magnuson Park. I can see why there are so many families here. I used to be afraid of walking in the back alley of my house when I lived on 50^th and 20^th in the UDistrict, but I wouldn’t be scared if I was walking by myself throughout Radford. Also, you live right next to Magnuson Park, which is a great to read, run, swim, and there’s even a 9 acre off-​leash dog park (and a shy dog area).
DISTANCE FROM METRO
I live in a building that’s closer to the park and it takes me only 5 min to walk to Sand Point to catch one of two buses to UW. It’s perfect because the 75 takes you right on campus, looping on Steven’s Way, and the 30 takes you to the ave. I’m doing the least amount of walking in my 5 years at UW. And this includes when I lived on 50^th and 16^th. So, I take full advantage of the gym here, haha.
SPACE /​/​1BR + Loft 575 sq. ft.
We all know how it can get in the winter in Seattle and I’ll sum it up in 1 word: depressing. I’m not saying I am not affected by the occasional bout of SAD in my apartment here, but even in the gloomiest of Seattle winter days, my days are made a little nicer due to the natural lighting in the apartment. I have huge windows in the living room and little windows all around the apartment that let in light and when it’s sunny, the whole apartment fills with sunshine and it just fills the apartment with sunshine and warmth.
We were worried because we had only seen the 565 (or 564?) sq ft. place and the apartment felt small, but the 575 is perfect, assuming you have the average amount of things.
INTERNET
You don’t have to deal with Comcast, which makes life just that much happier, and it’s free high-​speed internet, faster than the cheapest/​fastest plan with Comcast. You just saved yourself $ 80 – 100.
UTILITIES
I seriously don’t know how this is, but our water/​sewage (monthly) has never been higher than $ 75 and our electricity (bi-​monthly) has never been above $ 60 and we keep our apartment at 70 degrees and do laundry and a load of dishes every 2 – 3 days. At Royal Manor in UDistrict I once had to pay $ 80 for electricity and I was splitting it with 3 other people. Which brings me to appliances…
SERVICE
I’ve submitted a request for service twice and each time there was a response within a few hours. Bill, the maintenance guy, is super nice and helpful and he’s also very quick. The people at the front desk are really nice, too, and they plan cute things like chili cook offs. I also got a free compost bin from them, which was priced at $ 30 at City Lights (yes, I checked, haha).
AMENITIES
GYM — new equipment, a TV with cable, free weights, not-​free weights (I don’t know what they’re called, ha), fans, exercise balls, and sanitary wipes. The best part? It’s free.
REC ROOM — huge HDTV and full kitchen that you can use for parties, get togethers, or just to hang out in. Also free to use.
***CONS***
— The only crappy part about Radford is the parking spots. These are no Costco-​sized parking spots (if only!!). They’re freaking tight and not in the cool way. I’m always squeezing out of my car walking like a crab (sideways) out to the sidewalk. And I’m a small girl. BUT I can’t complain much because it’s steps away from my apartment. Oh, and it’s FREE. $ 60 for each additional parking spot, but there’s always a ton of free street parking nearby, so that isn’t really necessary, just convenient.
— We live on the top floor, so I’m not sure what it’s like for our downstairs neighbors, but we can hear it when our neighbors are shutting their drawers, which tend to slide shut quickly. If you’re someone who needs absolute silence during the day then I can see how that can be an issue, but it’s not really a big deal to us.
— Rent is steep, especially if you’re not a student, but I’ve calculated it out and compared to what I’m saving money on — parking, gym membership, utilities, internet — I’m actually saving money compared to what I was paying in the UDistri

My roommate and I have lived here for the past 7 months, and have about 2 more months left on our lease. We’ve actually really enjoyed it so far. There are several really important things to note though.
Pros:
— We are both graduate students at the UW, so its great to be right on the 75, 30, and 74 bus lines to campus. We also qualify for the student rental price.
— It’s right next to Magnuson, which is wonderful for those who like taking in nature. Fantastic place to run, walk dogs, be by the water, etc.
— We are in a top unit in a building that is along the border of the complex, which I am sure is a huge factor in how quiet our unit is. Seriously, we think it is incredibly quiet and peaceful. Every once in a while you’ll hear a dog or two bark but never incessantly. We have heard a next door neighbor sing but she never does it in the evenings, and never to the point where we’ve had to ask her to quiet down. Like with any apartment building, neighbors can really make or break your experience, and it isn’t necessarily a reflection of the apartment complex or management.
— We’ve been able to put in maintenance requests via their online system, and they’ve been handled immediately and efficiently. From a broken dryer to a defective shelf in the fridge — everything has been taken care of.
— We LOVE that you can do a variable lease length. Again as students, we really like not being held to a 12-​month lease and forced to sublet out during the summer. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to move from unit to unit if new units open up that you prefer (definitely have seen neighbors do this if they are waiting for a top floor unit, or a unit with more bedrooms).
— Utilities haven’t been all that expensive. Maybe approx. $ 50−70/month for the two of us.
— We don’t have pets, but it is pet friendly here. Lots of dogs and cats.
— It’s a fairly clean and updated apartment. LOVE that there’s a washer/​dryer included with each unit, and dishwasher.
— We have never had a problem with any of the office staff. In fact, all of my interactions with them have been extremely friendly. I’ll definitely update that if it should change when we move out but I don’t anticipate it will.
— I feel like it is very safe here. Love that there are a ton of street lamps. I actually walk down to the Magnuson parking lot for the Seattle Children’s hospital shuttle (I work there) and Seattle can be quite dark early in the mornings, especially in the winter. But I cut through the complex and it’s well lit and very safe. There are a lot of families here (you see a decent amount of children) so it feels pretty family-​friendly and adds to the sense of safety.
— Internet is free through UW. You do need to buy your own router if you want wireless though (although that’s really not a bad thing to just have for your own use anyway).
Cons:
— Even with the student discount, it IS expensive. The two of us actually live in a 1 bedroom with a loft, which comes out to $ 1355 for rent (although I do believe the price changes year to year). We’ve managed to make that work, with one of us in the bedroom and one of us in the loft (which is actually fairly spacious), but we also don’t have a ton of furniture between the two of us. Definitely an individualized situation, but one that has worked out for us.
— Not a ton of parking. Each unit comes with a parking space, but they’re definitely narrow, narrow spaces. Visitor parking is really limited, so guests often have a tough time.
Really, I’d give it 5 stars but it is definitely pricey and not for everyone. One thing to keep in mind about the rent is that if you are lucky enough to be looking when there is an opening for a 3 bedroom, that rent is definitely much more worthwhile if you split it 3 ways.
We have a unique situation that makes it work incredibly well for the two of us, but can totally see how it isn’t a fit for everyone. And again, we do live in a top floor unit which adds to the quiet. But if money isn’t a factor, it really is a great place to live.

Radford Court is an utterly sad place to live. We were assigned an apartment here from the University of Washington and I don’t remember a time I’ve felt this isolated and depressed living in a city. We’ve now moved to a different area in Seattle and are so relieved to be out of there.
We paid $ 1210 for a small aesthetically unpleasing apartment in a neighborhood where you have to walk for 20 minutes before reaching any sign of civilization. There is nothing here here but concrete and small unusable patches of grass. The whole complex just oozes desolation, isolation and disappointment. If you want to enjoy the benefits of actually living in a city, i.e. having access to shops, restaurants and life in general, you should not live here.
The apartments are about 20% more expensive than they should be given their size, location and quality. Our unit had a loft that was basically unusable due to its size and low ceiling height. The bedroom hardly had enough space for our queen sized bed and felt mildly claustropobic. The whole space is awkwardly designed, featuring tasteless décor, making you feel like you’re living in a miniature suburban apartment in the year 1992, where care has been taken to make everything feel «budget». The apartments are poorly insulated for sound so we could often hear the goings-​on of our neighbors’ bathroom activity like it was happening in the same room. The bathroom water pressure is low and the faucet is fixed so you only receive a fraction of the water flow. Just a lot of small unsatisfying aspects of living in this apartment.
There is no way this apartment complex would be alive and thriving if it didn’t have an agreement with the UW, ushering unwitting out-​of-​towners to these overpriced, sad units. Foreigners at the UW: there are better places to live in Seattle! Radford Court is advertised as University District but getting to the university by bus takes 30 minutes from your door. I would hardly call this location greatly convenient for UW students. Why live here when you can live much closer to the university for the same price, or cheaper?
To be fair, there are some positives about Radford Court, although they do not come close to making up for its shortcomings. The small gym is adequate and open ²⁴⁄₇ and rarely busy. If you are a jogger you will be able to take advantage of Magnuson Park right by the complex. Management are good about repairing anything broken. An internet connection is included in the rent, which is nice but does not make up for the high rent. The staff was friendly and let us get out of the lease early, which they didn’t have to do and were very nice about. However, when we got the deposit back we learned that we had to pay for the 7 day period between the day we moved out and the day the new tenants moved in. This particular «detail» was NOT explicitly discussed with us and came out of nowhere when we got the deposit check back. We called management and they told us it was discussed with us (incorrect) and besides, it was assumed we knew this because it was in the fine print in the contract and agreement. If it had been clearly explained to us that we’d be charged hundreds of dollars for time we did not spend in the apartment, we obviously would have changed the arrangement. Yes, it is the responsibility of tenants to understand every word of the agreement fine print, but it is also the responsibility of management to make sure that MAJOR FACTORS like how much you will have to pay, is clear to their tenants before they’re asked to sign papers.
Another inconvenience of Radford Court is that any large packages you receive in the mail (for example Christmas gifts) you must pick up from the post office yourself. I asked the post office why this was and they said it was because there was a problem with Radford Court management. This may sound like a small detail, but when you have to take almost two hours out of your life to take a bus to and from the local post office to pick up a package that normally would have been delivered to your doorstep, it becomes more than a detail.
It was almost impossible for us to order food for delivery at Radford. Delivery people complain about the maze-​like arrangement of the complex and unclear/​nonexistent markings to help outsiders find particular apartments. You have to explain to the restaurants in great detail how to find the apartment, and even then the delivery people get lost, food gets cold, no one’s happy.
As you might have guessed from all the above, I was far from enamored by Radford Court. I’m sure there are people to whom this complex would be bearable, such as people with children who want a quiet area far from anything urban or aren’t fussy about their living environment. But I would heartily recommend to anyone thinking about moving here to consider other options before they make any decisions.

We lived at Radford Court for a year in 2011 and 2012, in the older three bedroom units. The maintenance requests were sometimes slow initially, but when they put in a new system for maintenance requests we never had another problem. The upstairs bedrooms did not have a lot of natural light, we got some mold in the bedrooms (which is not entirely unexpected in the winter), and the fan did not work well in the bathroom. That said, we loved the light and layout downstairs. We very rarely heard any noises from our neighbors. I didn’t use the workout room, as I prefer to go outdoors, but it was convenient and nice. The huge patio outside was great for all our strollers, bikes, kites, and sleds. Some of the three bedroom units also have an outside storage area (ours was full of broadband networking equipment for our building). We had one assigned parking space and used street parking for our other car. We once had a problem with someone parking in our spot, and management was quick in helping to stop the problem. Parking for our second car was rarely an issue, but we did sometimes have to walk half a block. We moved from out of state, and were not able to come before moving in. They made that process easy and were very helpful. We also felt safe and secure there.
It was a fantastic place for children. There is a lot of green space around the buildings, as well as playgrounds scattered around. Our kids made friends with others playing outside, and it was a nice community. Sandpoint Elementary, which just reopened, was within walking distance. Although the school was new, the teachers and administration are very committed. Our kids thrived there as they had not at other very good schools before. Having Magnuson Park and the Burke-​Gilman trail so close was also wonderful. We were able to go on lots of walks, use the playgrounds, go swimming at Lake Washington, pick plentiful wild blackberries, fly kites, and go sledding in the big storm.
It is one of my favorite places that I have lived and we’d love to go back.

I lived here for two years and it was too small and the rent is too high. It was however, close to work and was a sufficient while I looked for more permanent digs. Unfortunately, even though I had a month-​to-​month lease and notified in excess of the lease agreement terms that I would be leaving, they tried to stick me with a $ 4,056.61 bill. My rent was paid up to date and I had a damage and utility charge of up about $ 425.00 which were the only reasonable charges.
Stay away!

The longer we have lived at Radford Court, the more we have enjoyed it. Being so close to Magnusson Park and Lake Washington is fabulous – it doesn’t get any better for runners, with the Burke-​Gilman Trail so close too. We love that we are fairly close to downtown, but still get to feel outside the city when we take walks in Magnusson Park. We like it so much here that some friends recently moved in too…
The complex feels very safe, and we have had no problems with maintenance or management. For those reading past reviews, note that there have been changes in ownership and management staff over the past year or so. We have lived here for a little over a year, and in that time, our apartment building has been powerwashed, the parking lines have been re-​done, windows washed, and there is a regular lawn service that keeps everything looking very nice. Our only real complaint is that the parking spaces are pretty small (we have a Subaru, which is pretty typical for the area, but it’s a tight fit). There is, however, free street parking close by, and we have never had problems finding parking for guests.
I agree that the rent is a little on the high side – but you’re paying for evident benefits: staff professionalism, safe, clean, open spaces, the nearby park and lake, the relative quiet off a complex set apart from the streets. It’s a whole different world from an apartment complex in the U-​District, and I know that some of the nicer ones there have even more expensive rent. Also, Radford Court offers a nice discount to UW students and they offered a further discount for renewing our lease early, which made the rent less expensive for us the second year we lived here than the first.

It is overpriced for UW «student housing» even though it is 15 minutes away from UW taking the bus. Ashok works in the leasing office and was super rude most of the time.
I forgot my keys one day because my husband and I left for work at the same time so he locked the door with his keys on the way out. Well I got home before him and realized I was locked out so I walked to the apartment office and called the after hours operator number and she said she would send someone within 10 – 15 minutes. One of the staff members came and opened the door and let me in after I showed her my license. I thanked her and was grateful. But a month later I got a $ 25 bill from Radford for after hours service. I went to the office and told them that the operator never mentioned this on the phone and they said it was in my lease. Well, I don’t carry my lease around so I guess I missed that part. I think they should have mentioned it on the phone or before they unlocked the door since I could have just waited an hour for my husband.
Also, my upstairs neighbors were always loud at night and we complained many times but Radford did nothing about it.
These are just some of the things I can remember, I am sure there were many more that drove me out.
I wouldn’t recommend these apartments to anyone.

I’ve lived at Radford on two separate occasions, and both experiences were excellent. There are some setbacks, such as the rent, which is substantially higher than what you’ll pay at other apartment complexes in the area. If your a student, however, the rent price is pretty decent given the location, grounds, and cleanliness inside the apartments. You’re paying for what you get.
As far as utilities are concerned, internet is free, and you pretty much have to go with Comcast or Quest if you want cable. You can get a satellite, but I didn’t care to jump through the loopholes and paperwork to make it happen. Water/​sewage is about $ 70/​mo for a 2 bedroom apartment, and electric averaged around $ 80.
I had to call the maintenance staff a few times, but they were prompt and fixed any issues within a couple of days (none were severe). In fact, our washer stopped working and they replaced it with a brand new unit, which was a nice surprise. You will probably not have to call maintenance much, however, given the quality of the apartment units.
As in any complex, neighbors can sometimes be a nuisance, but for the most part the community is quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately, there’s not much commercial property within walking distance, so you’ll need to bus it or drive to the nearest supermarket or coffee shop. With that said, the Burke-​Gilamn trail is right across the street, and takes you directly to University Village and UW if you have the time.
If it wasn’t for the high rent, this complex would receive 5 stars.

I lived at Radford for a year and it was pretty good. The rent was kinda high, but the apartments are really nice. I felt it was a good deal compared to most of the other apartments I looked at in the area.
The only bad thing was you can really hear your upstairs neighbors, especially if they like to do the dishes and laundry and get into shouting matches late at night.
Management was pretty good. We had a problem with our dishwasher and they responded the next day. There was one bicycle theft while I was there, but other than that I felt really safe, especially walking home from the bus stop late at night. If you don’t mind relying on the bus to get you to school or work, then this is a great place to live.
And to those who didn’t get their full refund, I’m sorry, but I got a full refund minus $ 50, which was expected since I did leave some damage (my plant pots accidentally pulled up some paint off the windowsills). I would definitely recommend this place, but get an apartment early, especially if you want a one bedroom since it fills up rather quickly the closer you get to September.

This large, well landscaped apartment complex is affiliated with the University of Washington, although the general public is also allowed to rent there at an inflated rate. Generally, the community consists largely of UW grad students and there are a decent number of families. The community is quiet, the noisiest part of the day was in the afternoon when kids were out playing! If you are commuting to the UW, it is a very convenient 10 minute bus ride away, and it is almost a part of Magnusson Park, but is very inconvenient to I-​5 and almost every other part of Seattle. It does not have an urban feel, and hardly a suburban feel — more like being on the fringes of the suburbs.
As far as the complex itself, I lived there for 2 years while in grad school. I also had several friends/​colleges in the complex, so I saw several types of apartments and heard several stories of dealings with management, etc.
My first year in the complex was wonderful, I very much enjoyed my experience. When we went to renew our lease, we inquired about possibly signing only a lease through December as that’s when we would be graduating. Long story short, the office said that wasn’t possible and attached what I now can only assume was an internal document to the email which outlined several proposed «changes» for the following year. At first not knowing what was going on, we were very confused because the office kept reference a «graduation policy» we had no knowledge of! Finally we figured out that’s what they actually intended to send. This was the first of many disagreements between us and the office.
Things went downhill from there. We had a neighbor who smoked on their balcony ignoring the 25 foot away from the building rule. After repeatedly asking the office for assistance, they attacked me as difficult and threatened to EVICT ME rather than deal with the problem. It’s interesting that of all the people in the office, the one assigned to deal with the problem was the one always smoking outside the office door. After this issue, I couldn’t get to the end of my lease fast enough! I wanted out ASAP!

So, if you’re starting at UW, don’t know Seattle, and trying to find a place to live, there are other places to live. I felt like this was a safe option since it was affiliated with UW, but overall, as you can tell, the experience was pretty negative. UW really doesn’t provide very much help with this, so if you need advice about neighborhoods, etc, feel free to message me :-)
