I don’t rate service, ambiance, cleanliness and wait times; they are too variable. I can put up with anything if the food is good. It is all about the food– that’s it. All of my ratings are based on vegan options only. Notes: I visited Seattle again, finally, and was extremely sad this place was closed. When I went, it was called Sage Café I thought. The food was amazing. It’s been 2 years, but I still dream about that sweet Jamaican wrap. I am sorry I didn’t review you sooner.

Extraordinary vegan food, great wine and good service. I was visiting friends and the four of us picked plum due to recommendations. I was the only vegan in the group, but everyone found something to enjoy. Since i’m also gluten free, the kitchen was able to give me grilled portobella’s with no breading. The best overall was the squash succotash. OMG…

I’ve come here on two different occasions and have fallen in love with the food. We recently tried another vegetarian restaurant and have to say this is our favorite. I love the atmosphere and the staff as well. Our daughter even enjoyed her food as well and she’s incredibly picky.

Great tasting food but mediocre to lousy service. I just waited 5 – 10 minutes just to order… no line. There was only one person working. A random guy walked in off the street right into the kitchen who apparently«used to work there» and was allowed to charge his cell phone in a food prep area without washing his hands!!! He moved food containers and everything to clear a path across the counter to the outlet. They often run out of menu items. Looks really shabby lately. Paint the place, please!!! Unpredictable hours, often closed before posted closing times. Not open at all on Sunday.

Plum Café is a bit of a misnomer, as it really is much more of a take away joint than a café. There’s a small counter where you place your order and can peruse a display case of their baked treats. Two tables were set up outside but both were taken when I arrived and I can’t imagine outdoor seating is a big draw in Seattle a majority of the year. Inside there were a couple high tables which are fine for a quick bite but not overly comfortable to sit and linger. I was really excited to try it though after having one of the best meals at a vegan restaurant in my life a few days prior at Plum Bistro. Plum Café, however, was much more inconsistent. I had the Sweet Jamaican and added plantains because they’re delicious and seemed to fit the theme. Really loved the wrap although it fell apart with ingredients falling out of the lavish with each bite. My dining companion had the Mama Africa Burger whose millet/quinoa mix is so crumbly it’s probably more akin to a Sloppy Joe than a burger. It also suffered sadly from a lack of flavor as it was pretty mild especially compared to the bold flavors of the spiced tofu in my wrap.

$ 15 Groupon. Arrived about 1.25 hours prior to close. Friend and i ate crepes, and wrap and Stash teas. Sister restaurant to Plum Bistro. Some of same burgers, with cheaper price. Tiny 4 table location, very dimly lit. Out of Spinach Naan which my request typically made with, but substituted for a Lavash bread. Gal who took order was friendly, positive. Just after we arrived and settled in to look at menus the other 3 tables filled up.

The thought of not eating MEAT kind of scares me, but Plum Café/Bistro does a great job of not making you miss it! I’ve ate here about 3 times now and the food is always consistent & tasty. Who would’ve known that a wheat gluten(seitan) could taste like steak! The sandwiches are done very well here; flavorful and extrememly filling! The mac n yease is just as bomb as everyone says, but their other salads are also just as good! My only gripes with this place are that it takes a looooooongg time for your food to come out and also a little on the pricier side. If you feel like you need to be extra nice to the earth and animals this is a great place for you to eat without the guilt. LOL

I’m from Portland, so whenever I visit Seattle, I always make a point to visit Plum Bistro. I wasn’t aware that there were also multiple Plum Cafes! I bought a Groupon, ignorantly assuming that it was for Plum Bistro. The host there redirected me to the Plum Café. I trudged into the café looking like a drowned rat(it was pouring outside) and then the man at the counter pointed out that my Groupon was for the Seattle Center location. I am the biggest idiot ever. Either he took pity on me or was trying to give me a «Seattle No»(which I just learned is a thing), but he accepted my Groupon for the wrong location and graciously fed my boyfriend and I. I made sure to tip for the full amount, but I hope I didn’t cause him too much trouble… Now about the food: The pasta salad blew my mind. It was deliciously nutty, with seitan and bell peppers. The pesto grilled cheese was stuffed with sautéed mushrooms and onion. The bread was surprisingly soft. It was just the fuel I needed to make the drive back home!

My husband and I were visiting from out of town and tried this place on a whim. It was a gorgeous day and they had the huge front window up. We split the yam chips, which were delicious. Some of them had an inconsistent texture(more chewy than crisp) but still tasted great. I ordered the mama Africa salad and it was a delight. One of the best salad’s I’ve had. I substituted basalmic instead of the lemony vinaigrette, so I don’t know how that impacted the flavor. It was a mix of various textures and flavors that amalgamated into a wonderful combination. My husband ordered a sandwich, which he also thoroughly enjoyed. The server was attentive and made some great recommendations. We were too full for dessert. Overall, sometimes as vegetarians we struggle finding a good place when vacationing. It was so nice to find a place that did not disappoint

I am not a vegetarian or vegan but my friend is and she asked me to meet her here for lunch. I loved it. I had the Jamaican wrap and it was amazingly flavorful and delicious. Will definitely return and recommend it to others. Many items on the small concise menu looked good. This is a very small place with only a couple tables and takeout.

The food was good, I will give them that. The prices are high for the portion you get and the owner(manager?) seems like an asshole. I heard him in the back treating his employees like shit. That is always a mystery to me when management is so apparently rude to staff. It’s embarrassing for everyone involved and completely unnecessary. He was also really high and mighty with his customers. Cute place, good food but I would not go back.

Urban setting, prompt service, and cool lighting. Food was amazing. Pancakes were perfect. Very generous portions. A little pricey.

Big, fat, veggie-stuffed vegan sandwiches on tasty bread. Thank god, the closest they get to fake meat is seitan(I think that’s what it was). Nothing processed or salty, just lots of well-prepared veggies.

A friend suggested we meet at Plum, and I was excited! Hadn’t been back there since a birthday dinner over a year before. Yum! Didn’t realize there were two Plums on Capitol Hill. We both sat in one, waiting for the other. So — watch out for that snafu, and — I’ll say it, head for Plum Bistro! My gyro was really heavy textured, and the flavors weren’t all that interesting. The wait for our table was also really long.(The bistro also has long waits, but the food is exquisite!)

Steve and I spent a weekend in Capitol Hill a week or so ago and he was in the mood for Plum. Plum is a vegan restaurant. Always up for a new restaurant I complied with his suggestion. It must have been sometime during happy hour when we sat down and we were both really hungry. They gave us the menu and everything on the menu was in small plates and appetizers. Groan, I thought. I like tapas bars and small plates but we were too hungry and wanted full sized meals. Steve said the two times he was here before he got full sized meals, so it must have been when we arrived. This Plum location apparently must have a rigid structure as to what is being served at what time. It sounds like they are not all that way. Plum has a location in Tacoma that is set up deli style so I would assume that they served meals the whole time they are open. That restaurant is under a different name and we have not been able to locate it. The waitress said that all of their locations got changed to Plum recently but we still have not been able to locate it. Anyone that may know where and what it is called it would be appreciated because despite how the menu was structured I wound up really liking their food. I got a French Onion soup which was very tasty. It had the boldness that you get with your typical French Onion but was lighter and felt good on the stomach. I also got the sweet potato fries with three different kinds of curry sauce and that too was very good. Steve had something with barbecue seitan sticks and macaroni and those tasted great! My only real criticism about the place is that they should always have a lunch menu before five. People here on the coast do not roll up the streets early(like at 3 pm) like they do in Colorado and I think they could have lunch available as well as the happy hour menu open at the same time. Even if it was a more stripped down menu from the traditional lunch time would be nice. Capitol Hill is a very busy place during anytime in the given week and I think they could afford it. As said before, it sounds like not all of Plum’s restaurants are set up the same way so lunch may be available at these other locations later as well. I did enjoy the food here, the service was good and friendly and the atmosphere was cool but I will be more careful about coming here by checking what time of the day it is and how hungry I am.

On this beautiful and unusually sunny day in Seattle, we headed over to Sage Bakery and Café in Capitol Hill for some vegan grub. This tiny café had three high-top tables and stools as well as two outside tables as it was more of a carry-out place. We grabbed a seat at a high-top table and treated ourselves to a little water as we perused the menu. So a word about the menu — wow! Talk about vegan options galore! This 100% vegan café boasts an impressive menu featuring 12 off-the-grill fresh sandwiches, 5 vegan crepes, 11 signature burgers, baked goods, and options for ordering custom sandwiches. It was a bit overwhelming to say the least. After much discussion, we placed our orders. I had one of their fresh ginger apple juices from Fresh Juice World, which was yummy. It was more of an apple juice with a little ginger, but that is better than there being too much ginger, which is more often the case than not. Our food took a little time as it is all freshly made, but we were okay with that because it stated that you will wait 15 minutes if ordering fresh food. I appreciated the heads up! And when it came, it was so worth it. I ordered The Sweet Jamaican, which was a Jamaican spice tofu wrap on lavash bread. It was filled with Jamaican spiced tofu, smoked yams, grilled sweet onions, cabbage, lettuce, tomato and vegan mayonnaise. It was absolutely delicious! The tofu had this great texture and spicy taste — this was tofu done right! I loved the presentation as well as the meal. The accompanying salad was very fresh as well. It was pricey at $ 11, but well worth it. Zach ordered the«Vegan Crepes.» We have no idea why one of the vegan crepes is just called, «vegan crepes,» when all of them are vegan, but whatever. I haven’t had many(if any) crepes and I liked these. They were filled with oyster mushrooms and smoked seitan, then topped with vegan cheese«yease» sauce. Zach said they didn’t really taste like crepes, but I still thought they were pretty good. The crepes were priced at $ 11 as well. For dessert, we had a blueberry lime cupcake. The cake itself was delicious and the icing was a unique mix of blueberry and lime flavors. Overall, we had a great experience at Sage and hope to go back the next time we visit Seattle. This is a great low-key lunch spot with incredible food.

Sage is kind of like the stoned little sister of Plum. I called in a pick-up order for a side of Mac and Yease($~5.45 with tax) and was told it would be 10 – 15 minutes. 15 minutes later, I stop by and I think the lady who took my order totally forgot. Or was distracted. When I called in, she was also talking to someone else at the same time while I was on the phone with her, and she didn’t really seem interested in answering my questions nor did she offer any alternative options on what side dishes/salads were available because a salad special I saw on a sidewalk sign was no longer being served. Anyhow, when I came by, my order was not ready, and it was still getting weighed and still had to be cooked on the grill. The food is great, but hearing the bickering from the kitchen staff(«is it really *only* 1 pm?!») to seeing that the order I called in was totally forgotten about when I came to pick it up kind of leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I don’t have a very long lunch break, and when I do call something in, I don’t really want to spend my entire break waiting for my meal. The other restaurants on 15th are very good about pick up orders when people who work in the 15th Ave area call in lunch orders. If you have time and it’s a lazy summer day, this is a great place. The food is really, really excellent(especially the sandwiches and the 4th of July celebrations), but kind of ‘meh’ in terms of the recent customer service and I really think it’s just kind of tacky to hear people complaining about their jobs in front of their customers.

Pros: The food is absolutely amazing. My most favorite sandwich in Seattle is here — they make a fabulous reuben. Some food I’d given up on ever having again as a result of my veganism I can order here, and it’s very tasty. They don’t skimp on fat, that’s for sure. Cons: Inconsistent hours(we had used the website, and found the place closed). Also, very little seating! When the weather is nice you can sit outside, but no table seats more than two people, and indoors there were only three tables. Courtesy of their tasty food, sometimes it is not possible to get seating for a bit.

Didn’t expect to be walking into a vegan eatery, ever. However, a friend of mine had a Livingsocial coupon for a dozen assorted cupcakes. Unfortunately, they forgot about his order but the owner was very nice and said we could take was on the counter AND come back another day for the dozen cupcakes. Instead of taking everything, we just took one of each: vanilla with lemon, chocolate blueberry basil, vanilla with chocolate, coconut, and plain vanilla. Picture: Considering these are vegan cupcakes, they weren’t too bad. My favorite was the lemon(sucker for lemon). I definitely did not like the blueberry basil, yuck. The frosting were a majority of them were also too sweet for my liking. Aside from the cupcakes, this place is extremely small. There’s 3 – 4 tables that sit two people each. I caught a whiff of some savory crepes, and smelled good.
