Planned Parenthood

Such sweet front desk staff, and I was surprised to find my new doctor was actually my former high school provider up the street at Healthpoint. The space was formerly a King County health clinic that I relied on for my needs. From talking to my other doctor before they had to close due to budget cuts, the clinic did not close its doors for an extended time to its patients by openly telling them about the changes into a new Planned Parenthood while they were transitioning. Anyway, Christine made me feel very comfortable even though for me it’s always standard procedure to get a check-​up on my long-​term BC. I was in and out of this clinic in less than an hour. I especially like getting an automated call from them to confirm or cancel my appointment, that was a little change for me. Thank you for all you do Planned Parenthood.

The first time I came to PP was for a standard lady appointment; the second time it was because my lady business was in distress. From the front desk to the examinations, both experiences were handled with care, concern, patience and privacy.
My favorite medical professional here is Lauren (NP). I met her this week while I was anxious about some symptoms I was having, thinking the worst. Lauren did well to calm my nerves, answer my questions and take her time with me. Her smile alone could warm up the darkest day, so right away I knew I was in good hands. I tend to overshare when I get nervous and Lauren was patient with me. Turns out what I was experiencing was simple and treatable and my worst fears were hugged away by her kindness and expertise. Even if the news hadn’t been good, hearing it from Lauren would’ve made it easier to bear.
The only complaint I have is that I’m required to pee in a cup during every visit, even though I’ve never asked for or needed an STD test. I even declined the cup this time, but felt shamed by the intake nurse, so I did the deed anyway.
No insurance = $ 130 out of pocket for my little emergency.

I showed up 30 minutes late to my appointment, having biked a treacherous and distressing 2 hours from the U-​District. It was the end of their work day, but if my tardiness bothered them, there was no telling. I felt truly cared for as they took their time with my appointment and procedure, asked and answered meaningful questions, all with a deep warmth. They also watched my bike for me, allowed me to stay until they left as I was waiting for a ride, and stuffed their remaining Halloween candy in my bag.
This is my first Unilocal review since reading the reviews of others for ten years– I always knew it it would a knock-​out experience that led me to contribute. THANK YOU :0)

Excellent clinic. The entire staff, from the front desk all the way to the provider, were kind, considerate and non judgmental. Even when I have several clinics closer to my home, I will drive to this clinic in the future. Truly exceptional.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Just needed a new prescription for birth control. The waiting room was full but they moved everyone through quickly. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, especially the Dr. I would recommend someone to go here.

Update: I wrote a letter of complaint about my experience here and they did get back in touch with me and listen to my concerns, which they also seemed to take seriously. I certainly hope they did. It’s a tough job, but even if you’re having a «bad day» in this kind of job, you don’t get to take it out on your patients, even if you’re couching your frustration and anger in medical terms.
