This is my second time here and both times they were out of several items on their menu. Wanted quiche but they were out, opted for waffles but they were out. Finally decided on a breakfast burrito and it wasn’t bad but not wanted. Coffee was just okay as well. Staff was mediocre and somewhat friendly. Thought I would give them a second chance but I will definitely not be coming back.

Pretty decent menu of crepes savory and sweet, waffles, sandwhiches and the soup of the day. There are also snacks and juices that usually places like starbucks contain. My friends got the waffles which were cute but had the texture of pancakes because they were thick and fluffy rather than crispy. They were pretty and tasted pretty good, whike i got the strawberry banana smoothie which was yumny and didnt have many ingredients.(Vanilla crème, banana, strawberries). The wait can be pretty long as there are two workers doing the coffee and food for a pretty long line of ppl for a café of this size.

A bagel sandwich with smoked salmon. The bagel was un-toasted. The ham, eggs, and toast breakfast. The ham was cold… I’m not quite sure if these are things that other places ignore as well, but they mattered to me. I was in too much of a hurry to have things fixed, and well, mediocrity. The lady serving me was really kind too, which broke my heart a little. There’s a lot of potential here, please grow. =(

I’m not sure why this place is rated so poorly. The customer service is awesome. This has turned into my morning stop before work. Simple food, excellent coffee, and a nice place not overrun by disrespectful millennials and college students. If you want to jump start your day in a pleasant environment. This is pretty much it.

UPDATE: clean, accurate espresso making and improved counter service… Badabing! Extra star! The smoked salmon bagel is a delicious winner, as is your new chai. This café is paying attention to its customers. For five stars, improve surface and floor cleanliness, and keep improving food presentation. The old review is below, for reference. Note to the reviewer that loses her mind over microwaved bacon and slaps one star on this decent little coffee shop: would you rather they didn’t cook it? And that’s a combi-oven, princess, which cooks with both microwave and convection. Most cooks know that bacon is best and most evenly cooked by just such methods, but you feel free to order yours fresh out of the package there genius, and good luck with those intestinal parasites! ************************** I read some of the bad reviews, and I just don’t get it. This is a nicely furnished, friendly café with a good, basic menu, good service, reasonable prices. Nothing on the prepared food menu is more than $ 10. It’s all been hot, fresh, delicious every time I come in. These bad reviews make no sense. Then I realize: I’m in the U-District. Some distracted, self-absorbed millennial stumbles into a place like this, and gets irritated that they don’t have their favorite bubble tea or pumpkin spice gingerbread flufficcino, and going to their usual spot would mean… effort… Yep. This is more of an adult environment, meant first to cater to hotel residents and secondly to the public generally, which around here means kiddies. That said, the management here can up its game in two important ways: improved store cleanliness and improved coffee service. First, get your staff out from behind the counter and into the seating area. Tell them to look for cleanliness, on the floors, tables, windows, chairs. Look at the store like a customer does, and clean accordingly. Look at your service counter– are the pastries neatly arranged? Are there smears or fingerprints? The floors especially need attention, every time I come in. Managers: Look at your store through the customer’s eyes, and train your staff to do likewise. Lastly: improve your espresso service. Train the staff to maintain the machine daily and between each beverage served. A «start clean, end clean» protocol should be followed, for the steam wand, portafilters, and demitasse especially. I have not ordered a steamed milk beverage at Pineapple Café, simply because there is always milk burned onto your steam wand. Yuck. Show the customers you care, and keep it clean! And switch to glass demitasse to pour your shots. Metal imparts unpleasant flavor, and having them sit full of old espresso shots or dirty coffee water on the bar shows a lack of concern for what the machine is intended to produce. Get that going on, and you’ll get another star from me! Pretty up the already good food and rockstar your customer service, and you’ll get 5!

I’ve lived in Washington now for over 12 years. I love coffee. I also love food. This little hole in the wall café Under it’s own hotel has the best service. Their service isn’t the best because of there décor or their extraordinary large smile, NO it’s because of All that. I love caramel macchiato’s. Vyen made me the best one I’ve ever had and i’m willing to travel from Auburn to Seattle just for hers.

This place is a joke. 11 dollars for toaster waffles. The place is empty, two gals behind the counter and absolutely no customer service! Better free breakfast at the budget inn! For a hotel/restaurant thats trying to go high end middle class, this does not complete the package.

Convenient spot for breakfast or coffee. Attached to the Watertown Inn hotel. Had the egg and bacon breakfast special. It was fine. I could tell the bacon had been microwaved. But was fine. Overall, an easy choice.

I work in the area, and found myself wandering into this bright colored café in search of some coffee and a quick bite to go. Ordering an iced americano and a breakfast burrito, I immediately dialed my expectations for some cheap caffeine and tolerable microwaved food. This was after all, a coffee setup in a hotel. It couldn’t be that good. But it was. To my surprise, the burrito wasn’t some frozen microwaveable brick, but was actually prepared with fresh items and cooked to my order on a stove top. It was really, really good. My iced americano? Solid as well. While the wait time wasn’t quite as fast as I would have liked it to be, I can’t complain about the food. It’s not sit down restaurant quality(go to Portage Bay for that), but for a café this place holds it’s own.

This place is basically like Elizabeth Bathory– the Blood Countess. Sure, everything basically looks pretty and well put together(in her case that’s entirely by reputation), but behind the scenes something is entirely amiss. Am I accusing the Pineapple Café of sacrificing virgins to perpetuate the beauty of their décor? No, but I think the meat in my crêpe here is representative of a worse sin than e’er Countess Bathory committed. The staff were quite friendly; in fact, they are the only reason why this place got two stars. Smiling they bear this epic historical stain on their backs for whatever wayward and cursed traveler should dare to enter their doors. In other words, .

With the only other breakfast place requiring either waiting a long time in the cold, or a reservation, we ended up here. -.- THEYMICROWAVETHEIRBACON. You read that right. You can do the same thing at home for under $ 6.50 My boyfriends been making cute jokes since we left such as(when I said the portion size was nice) «You can only fit so much in a microwave», «For a place with ‘pineapple’ in the name, you’d think the pineapple would be good tasting» and«Babe, we can officially say we’ve been through things after going there» Shouldn’t that be enough to walk away before you make a huge mistake? Yes, you. The person reading this right now trying to decide on brunch. Turn around and walk away(or at least a block down to Portage, which you’ve just made a reservation for. I’m proud of you!) The best part of this«restaurant» is the creative décor and layout. .but again: You can accomplish such a thing in the comfort of your own home.

Let’s be honest: this is a hotel café, not a corner coffee hangout. As such, it’s fine but nothing special. Prices are a tad on the higher side as most hotel cafes are. Coffee is good and staff is friendly. If you’re staying at the Watertown Hotel, it’s fine, however, it’s not a destination stop. I think the one star reviews wee expecting too much for what this is

They have an excellent soup & sandwich combo. The only thing is they can be a little understaffed during the lunch hour so there may be a little of a wait but the few staff they have make up for it with their friendliness!

I ate here when my family visited Seattle and stayed at the adjacent hotel. We were looking for a quick breakfast and decided to give this place a try. All the reviews thus far are entirely on point. The service isn’t bad, but the food is not very good and the price is even worse. I ordered a «wild caught locally smoked salmon bagel sandwich» for $ 7.50 and was amazed at how small the portions were(literally a single standard bagel). The bagel was just«meh» and we would have been better off going to any other place in the U District area. I was not full after eating my meal and would never go back here again. If you’re staying at the hotel, seriously do yourself a favor and try out any of the other local eats. Trust me, you can definitely get something much better for $ 7.50.

My friends and I were down the street at Portage Bay Café and weren’t quite finished chatting so we decided to let the poor people standing outside PBC have a chance at getting seated, and find a quieter place to chat. We ended up at Pineapple Café. It was attractive and inviting for us in the sense that there was no one inside which was a nice quiet alternative to the crazy atmosphere at PBC. One sip of my latte and I found out why this might not be a very popular spot. I’m not very picky typically but this was totally undrinkable. The flavor was off(or maybe entirely absent) and the soy milk tasted bad. Really bad. Like it had GONE bad. I thought when I saw Starbucks products everywhere behind the counter that it would be safe. I was wrong. To top it off, it cost over 5 bucks. I could possibly understand that price for a tall soy flavored latte, but my friends tall chai was also over 5 bucks. No thank you!
