I can’t believe we went nearly our entire hotel stay at The Max last week without trying Miller’s Guild. Thankfully, we found ourselves a little late night starving(nearly 30 minutes before room service closed) and quickly settled on the Wagyu Burger and Beef Fat Fries. We didn’t care about the price. We were famished and charged it to the room. Burgers arrived perfectly packaged within 20 minutes and upon first bite I KIDYOUNOT it was the best burger I’ve ever had in my entire life. Perfectly cooked med/rare, bun was buttery and chard nicely. I swear I dreamed about it. Gosh and those fries! Literally every bite was perfect. We woke up gushing about it. Even if you aren’t staying at Hotel Max, MG is a MUST try. Their Unilocal reviews speak for themselves. PS. I have no idea how much those burgers cost us… but I’d pay that price 10x over for the UMAMIEXPERIENCE!

Steaks are good! Went with a group of 8 and shared several items. Note worthy items were the shot ribs, dry age 90 day 26oz ribeye and 60 day 46oz porterhouse. There was more than enough to go around. Other items we ordered that could be skipped included whole branzino, Brussel sprouts, gruyère mashed potatoes, fries, wedge salad and mushrooms. They had a wide variety of wine options on the pricier end. This place is worth checking out but I wont be a regular here, especially with their pricing. I would rather go to the Met or El Gaucho. Lastly, we brought a cake since we were celebrating a birthday. The server didn’t mention anything in advance but they tacked on $ 40 to the total bill — $ 5 per slice cake cutting fee per person.

Unfortunately had a very poor experience here for our anniversary dinner. Though MG came well recommended, our dishes were disappointing. Everything from an undercooked starter, to a piece of Sea Bass that was overpriced and not cooked well. Our waiter could have cared less that we were celebrating something special. Favorites? Mushrooms and cobbler. Based on service, cost, and quality of food, we will never be back and don’t see this restaurant lasting. So many better places.

Great place with subdued décor and atmosphere. Went there for breakfast a couple times, since at Hotel Max’s lobby. Good coffee, pancakes and their oatmeal is excellent. It gets packed in the evenings apparently.

The restaurant was closed but the bar was open so I decided to get fries. There wasn’t much people and it took 30 minutes until I finally got it. Waste of time and money 0⁄10

Excellent– huge & filling breakfast. Smokey flavor was in the air, encouraging this caveman’s meat lust. Wasn’t disappointed by the steak on my plate; a nice-sized portion that was complemented by several eggs, potatoes & greens. This protein power punch should rocket me thru Seattle all day:)

Came here for a birthday party and were told we had the option to order the butcher’s block at $ 48/person since it was on a Sunday. At first we thought the price was pretty high but after comparing it to the rest of the dishes, it came out to be a decent deal. Our party ordered some appetizers while we waited for some other friends to arrive. — Beef fat fries were amazing. 5 stars. Loved the flavor, the gravy dipping sauce and the ketchup had a spicy kick to it. So addicting and good. Yum! — Foccacia bread — 5 stars. Flaky on the outside and tasty on the inside. The pork lardo butter it came with was good as well. Charcuterie: 3+ stars. Only got to try a few items on here but wasn’t impressed enough to keep trying more since I was trying to save room for dinner. Salmon and the cheese was the best out of what I tried IMO. I was actually pretty full after all the apps. Which is probably a good thing because though the restaurant wasn’t packed, it took over an hour for our food to arrive. We got there at 6 and probably didn’t get our main courses til around 8? Butchers block: 3 stars. — Salad(3 stars) was a good portion, but was basic and mine came without dressing for some reason so the waiter took it back to get some more flavor to it. — unfortunately, my prime rib was asymmetrically cut, which meant part of it was burnt and tough and the thicker part of the slice was all fat. so I barely had any meat and what was there was pretty grisly … Boo.(2– stars) I was looking forward to the prime rib too :(:(. Other people at my table had bigger cuts of prime rib which looked more juicy and with more meat than I had tho … — My friend opted for prawns(3 stars). But roughly 4 prawns for $ 48 is a bit steep… My other friend enjoyed the turkey option — she said it was good and moist. The roasted veggies that came with it were ok — the potato croquette was the best! Loved the sauce + cheese that came with it — it was a good accompaniment to the prime rib. — Dessert:(4 stars) The burbon chocolate cake was HUGE… but after all the other food, I could only eek a small sliver to taste. It was good, but a bit rich to have much more than that. Ice cream would have helped to cut down on the richness. Overall, the ambiance here was nice, beef fat fries are awesome, servers are friendly, but service was on the slower side and I was just not a fan of my entrée. However, I would definitely be up to try this place again to see if the meat is better next time if the opportunity arose, especially since the grill is supposed to be pretty awesome.

First off, being in the industry I’m not one to review or even complain. I simply either enjoy a place and come back(and tell people to visit), or I have a bad experience and don’t come back. However, I felt this experience needed to be shared. Chefs, no matter how«upscale» the restaurant, need to make sure their staff is knowledgable and also make sure the experience matches the price tag. I have NO problem shelling out money for great food. It’s when I pay an arm and a leg for sub par food thats annoying. 1st– service was sparse. You’d expect a higher level of service, but not in this case. In the two hours we were there we saw our server ~4 times. It’s not a huge place, so I didn’t see any reason our server couldn’t touch our table more. For example, as we waited 30 min to order another glass of wine, a couple was sat next to us but after greeting them he still did not turn to check on us. Instead he walked away and didn’t come back for 10 more minutes. 2nd– This was the big one. Our prime rib and turkey came out raw. Now being in the industry for 20 years and a professional chef running kitchens and opening them for 10, I know what raw is. I asked our server about it and he said«it’s cause they’re sous vide.» Yes, you can still get a pink hue on poultry with sous vide, but if you look at the picture it’s RAW. Even the texture was way off. The prime rib was blue raw. And sous vide should at LEAST be tender. Being a low and slow cooking method, it would have broke down the protein and fat making it melt in my mouth good. Instead it was chewy. The eye of the prime rib — my favorite part due to the fat — was hard and un-chewable. 3rd– I will say our salad course was tasty, the desserts and vegetables were well prepared. But the service and proteins made it not nearly worth the $ 85 plus drinks tab. I hope this helps the restaurant and next time I have an amazing meal. Everyone gets a second chance. The pictures– Should have taken them at the restaurant, but these pics were once we got home. After fixing the turkey breast and prime rib at home they were good. Just wish they were cooked properly at the actual restaurant.

Ever played World of Warcraft? Ever go to Dwarven capital Iron Forge to make some money at the auction house? This place reminds me of Iron Forge, without intermittent frame-rate drops. It’s got a big, hearthy, oven-stove-firepit-forge front and center. Gives the whole place killer ambiance. It’s attached to a hotel, but it’s one of those rare eateries attached to a hotel that doesn’t just phone-it-in. This place is pretty great. I got steak and eggs, as these folks seem to be known for their meat and it was early in the morning. Shockingly, it wasn’t very crowded. Maybe people don’t know about the brunch? I’d love to come back for dinner. P. S. the hotel it’s attached to is pretty great as well!

My husband, a good friend and I went to Miller’s Guild to celebrate a new job. We’d been planning the outing for a while and were really excited when the day finally arrived. After a bout of meh dining experiences, we decided to check out Unilocal before our outing, which may have been a bad idea. We went in prepared for more meh. I’m very happy to report, no meh here! Everything was phenomenal. Our server was wonderful, quick with a response to any of our questions and full of great recommendations. We had questions on wine, perfect bottle suggested! Questions on portion sizes, answered with no hesitation. We ordered oysters to start… YUM; the cucumber mignonette was the perfect compliment. They came served on a bed of super cold rocks for an awesome presentation. For 3 of us we shared 2 steaks, the Wagyu Ribeye and the Filet, which with all of the sides was more than enough. We ordered the steaks medium and they came out perfect. On the side we had the Brussels sprouts(heavenly! My husband won’t usually touch them and cleaned the plate), the cauliflower(devine) and the beef fat fries(ok, these were just fries). What little room we had left, we filled with the house-made ice cream sandwich cookie… so glad we did! All-in-all, it was exactly the experience we had hoped for and will be back for more. I’m still dreaming about it!

Some of the food was amazing. Let’s start there. Scallops– fantastic. Mushrooms –great. Whipped port lard that comes with bread — amazing. And then there was the steak. Very good steak that they completely ruined. Ordered a steak medium rare and came out just brown of raw. When I’m paying $ 58 for a steak I expect it perfect as to my order. Server came by 10 min later to check on us and of course it was too late to address the issue. We were going to a show and couldn’t wait for a re fire. What pissed me off was the manager gave us $ 10 off and couldn’t be bothered to come by and apologize personally. I’m buying service, which was mostly great, and an experience, which was ruined by Incorrectly cooked steak. At this price point I can go to Canlis and have a sublime experience with exquisite food. If I was buying a $ 15 steak sandwich I could forgive a rare vs medium rare mistake. At. +$ 50 that is unacceptable, to say the least. and they handled it poorly.

This is a large yet cozy room with high ceilings and amazing fire places. I wanted to love this from the start. And we did– for awhile. Hors devours came in the form of very fresh, very briny Pacific oysters that were delicious. Fresh. Bursting in your mouth with sea water. Outstanding. Where things took a turn, was the delivery of the most expensive part of the meal, the steaks. He ordered a filet, myself a 16oz fillet done medium rare. At the cost of these pieces of meat, $ 58-$ 70, we expected amazing things. Sadly both of our pieces arrived with cool centers so rare a good vet could have resurrected them. And both pieces were warm over all. Not hot by any means. They’d clearly be done awhile and sat. Very disappointing to say the least. I ate my entire 160z ribeye because I’ve been known to eat rare meat and it cut like butter in spite of being so underdone. The flavor was certainly there. The temperature was just all wrong. The sides really shown in the Gruyère mashed potatoes and the mitake mushrooms. Both were outstanding. I Wanted to be alone in a room with the sides. We had looked forward to this becoming a regular place for us, being so close to the new apt but at the price, we’re not sure we’d risk ordering steak again.

I had solid expectations for this place after reading Unilocal reviews but left hungry and $ 50 poorer after one of the worst brunch experience and food I’ve ever had in Seattle. My friends and I came for brunch on a Saturday. The restaurant has maybe a total of 6 – 8 tables including ours, basically very empty. One host, one waiter, two guys in the kitchen from what I saw. Service: It took them 15 minutes before even coming over to ask if we wanted to order drinks while we waited for another friend. And I think our food took another 30 minutes. Food: Beet bloody — I love beets and Bloody Mary’s and I hated this drink. First of all, it’s half the size of a regular Bloody Mary. Beer juice is thinner and has less taste than BM mix, while the goat cheese foam makes it better, still not like a Bloody Mary. This one was sour/tart in all the wrong wats and not salty or spicy. Chicken and waffles — Chicken was pretty good. I loved the waffle batter though I know it wasn’t just a buttermilk batter but I wish I knew what it was. It wasn’t listed on the menu. The waffle was definitely over cooked though, very tough to cut and eat, and I didn’t finish ¾ of it. Side of eggs — 3 bites of eggs… check out the picture. The saddest side I have ever seen in my life. I can’t believe I paid extra for this. Not sure if I can give them a second chance. Maybe happy hour.

If you want a 45 min cooked rib eye, you came to the right place. We didn’t order that, but that is on our next to do item for this establishment. Sunday was date night, and my fiancée wanted to check this place out seeing as how he wanted to come here before, but never had the chance to do so. So here we are, we ordered the wedge salad with bacon, blue cheese, and apples. It was pretty tasty, but I think if there was a nut component like walnuts or something rather, the salad needed that to make it complete. I ordered the filet, it was delicious, but it needed more veggies. I had a piece of mushroom savory as it was, I wanted one more piece to balance that big slab of meat. My fiancée ordered the rib eye, he enjoyed it, but their horseradish cream sauce didn’t do him any justice because it was lacking in a punch. Overall, I would come back here again to try their brunch items.

Stopped in for a nightcap before retiring to our room at the adjoining Hotel Max. It was nearing closing time but the bartender greeted us warmly an didn’t make us feel rushed at any point. It’s got a bit of a speakeasy feel and the cocktail menu is special. I ordered a Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and it was UH-MAZE-ING. It was light, bright and refreshing. I love gin and it definitely had the juniper undertones but it also had a wonderful basil and citrus flavor to it. Everything looked wonderful on the drink menu and I would have sampled more if I had the time.

Let me just say this… Chicken and Waffles. After studying the menu several times, I found myself always looking back at the Chicken and Waffles. My only hesitation was that the dish would be to heavy for early brunch, but I can assure you, this dish isn’t heavy at all. The chicken was breaded perfectly and had a nice crunch to it. The coating was somewhat sweet, though I could not specifically call out the ingredients. The chicken was tender, and very juicy — exactly as you’d want it to be. The waffle was hearty, yet did not feel heavy. Such a great dish, I would go back for it again and again. I came with a large group of almost 30 girlfriends and everyone enjoyed their dishes. I sampled the Oatmeal Brown Sugar Griddle Cakes and those were tasty and are also worth a try. The restaurant itself is very industrial and had a unique décor. I enjoyed just looking around as we waited for our food. Service was good and the servers were on the ball. The manager, Matt, was very friendly and accommodating to our group as well. I highly recommend Miller’s Guild!

OK, so kind of weird stopping by for brunch at a place that’s technically known as a steak house. But MAN, brunch was great! Plus, I learned something new, which is always a bonus: did you know that there’s such a thing as «coffee flour»? Well, apparently it’s made from the husks of coffee cherries and it’s super healthy: high in fiber, lots of protein, and the tiniest kick of caffeine. Miller’s guild has something called a «coffee flour waffle», and I tried it, and it was excellent. Whole grain-y, if you’re into that, crispy and topped with fresh fruit and a side of soft butter and maple syrup. Also tried the house-corned beef hash with kale(I know, but it’s so good!), crispy potatoes, a poached egg and some grainy mustard. Really great. They serve Fonte coffee, too, so it’s basically my ideal place for breakfast now. I’ll be back!

I love their dual happy hour(2−5pm and 10-midnight!!). It includes boozy cocktails for $ 8, wine for $ 7, beer for $ 5 and a range of bar bites between $ 9-$ 43. * WAGYUBEEFBURGER($ 16 at lunch) — 4.5STARS: I was very impressed by this hotel restaurant’s burger, a fresh soft bun, juicy patty, and packed full of flavor. For $ 17 it’s actually a decent deal because it comes with a heaping pile of addictive fries and complimentary house-made focaccia. 4 stars for a burger is truly a testament to this place since I rarely am blown away by burgers. * GRILLEDROMAINE($ 19) — 2.5STARS: Halibut cheeks, pancetta, lemon basil viniagrette I know alot of people hate grilled whole leaf salads but I love the texture of the grilled whole lettuce and wedge salads. The dressing was pretty good, a little to thick, the halibut cheeks were fresh but a little too salty, the romaine was over-charred to the point it was bitter, the saving grace was the crunchy chopped pancetta and croûton mixture on top. Overall good idea — poorly executed. * SIDETOAST($ 4) — 2.5STARS: 2 slices of rye toast with a fig jam and butter for $ 4? Really? I’ve been consistently impressed by the service, a good place for a burger and a drink at happy hour.

I’ll write a longer review sometime in the near future, but I’m a fan of Miller’s Guild for a couple reason: — The flaming inferno stove/pit is an amazing centerpiece of the restaurant — Central location — Great service, hands on and passionate ownership team — Farm to table mentality — Stellar braised short rib dish — The black cod is really well done(but could use a bit more seasoning) I think their steaks could use a bit more seasoning, in my book. I think their pork rib chop is fantastic. Not too thick, but the crust is delectable. Really good baked side dishes(like a cauliflower gratin). Amazing and very heavy cakes for dessert. Very heavy.

So we went here after hearing great things about the place. The joint is nice and I especially like the open grille in front for everyone to see. Since this was lunch we ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Beef Sandwich, and Chicken Pot Pie. First of all the Brussel Sprouts were probably the best we ever had. They were deep fried perfectly and almost melted in our mouths. It had the right amount of salt and came with a nice aioli to dip it into. We should have ordered another order. The Jidori Chicken Pot Pie was recommended to us by our waitress. The crust was not flaky how I like it. And there was a strong flavor that overwhelmed the mixture inside the pie. It almost tasted like they put white wine into the filling and never cooked out the liquor. It made the inside taste very sour. We also had the chopped Beef Sandwich. This sandwich was pretty good but never overwhelmed me. The cole slaw on top of the meat was quite bland and never enhanced the sandwich. The cajun flavored fries in beef fat were outstanding! I thought the service could have been quicker and checked on us more often. While the waitress was nice and friendly we often had our drinks empty where we would have to waive someone down to refill it. I think this place is okay and maybe we ordered the wrong stuff. But it is worth coming to try the Brussel Sprouts and Fries!
