If you like chinese food, this is NOT the right restaurant for you! I been going to the supermarket a lot and was attracted by their restaurant, so today I finally decide to give it a try. I ordered 毛血旺, and 蒜泥白肉, non of those taste good and guess what, their stuff in the 毛血旺 is not fresh, it look like been placed in the kitchen for ages. The intestines is all mold with some green stuff on it. I asked the server he said it looks alright, but i insist there is something wrong with it and called for the chief. The cheif keep on trying to tell me go ahead and eat it, if something goes wrong that I am welcome to go back and tell them. Excuse me? I have to mess around with my health to prove their food is bad? This is some place that i will never come back. Hope you take the advise and stay AWAY from this restaurant

This place is awesome!!! I’m only giving 4 stars because I feel like the price didn’t fit the size of portions. Other than that, EVERYTHINGWASDELICIOUS! What we ordered… Egg Fried Rice $ 7.99 Stir Fried Noodles $ 8.99 Squid on a skillet $ 4.99 Pork rib casserole $ 10.99 Herbal Tea $ 3 The Noodles were amazing, the way they cooked the noodles and the sauce that went with it totally blew my mind. I really liked the pork rib casserole as well, exactly how my Mom makes it which is a huge PLUS! It’s cook because you can buy food from the market or bring in your own food and they will cook it for you! The menu was total boss, they give you a marker and just write on the menu on what you would like and quantity. Similar to DTF but it’s eraser markers which was way cool. This place is in the same complex as Asian Food Center, right next to Kiki bakery and the grocery mart. Super convenient. They have huge tables to sit at which I love, it’s not the traditional chairs but like a bench you see when camping or at a park.

Truly 5 out of five all around, fantastic customer service, family-friendly place for a toddler, and steaming hot amazingly tasty food came out quickly, and when it came out the food actually looked better than the picture menu we selected off of. We got the crawfish dish, short rib and onions dish, and garlicky green beans dish — fantastic. We’ll definitely be back!

When I walked in this restaurant, I had no idea what to expect, but was still pleasantly surprised! :-) The gentleman who greeted me was very nice, and had no problems seating me right away, even though I was a party of one and they were busy that night. Then, I asked questions about 80% of the menu as most of it was new to me, and he took the time to answer all of my questions without rushing me. Well, I really wanted to order the pork sausage claypot after reading about it, but was disappointed to find out it is no longer on the menu. So, I finally opted to try the twice cooked pork, and boy that was a good choice! it was a huge portion of sliced fatty pork and sliced vegetables in a spicy sauce that kept me right on the edge! Next time, I’m going to get the fried fish as that looked really good! Oh, and You can even bring in your own seafood and have them cook it for you!

My wife and I ordered the string beans, lamb skewers, and baked/“BBQ” fish. The string beans came almost immediately, along with hot tea. The portion size on the string beans is enormous and the flavor was very good. Next the lamb skewers came, which are indeed a bit small, but the flavor was pretty spot on, and just spicy enough for me. Wife said they could have been a little more salty. Last but not least, the FISH. They nailed the«ma la» spicy/tingly flavor with this one. It is served with burning heaters under the pan, so it stays hot no matter how long you take to eat it. Yes, they charge for rice, but we didn’t have any complaints about the freshness. We ended up eating 3 bowls of rice between 2 people, so perhaps the portion size is a bit small on that, but it was what I’ve come to think of as a pretty typical size rice bowl in China. We left absolutely stuffed and very satisfied. We will be back!

Seems like a cheap place using the cheap old ingredients next door from the discount Asian market. We order shrimp dumplings, deep fried shrimp and oyster sauce brocoli. The brocoli was one of the most expensive items on the menu, had zero flavor or sauce terrible dish. The 2 shrimp dishes were tasty with some msg help, but the deep fried had only 3 small shrimp balls, and the shrimp dumplings fell apart the second you touched them with your chopsticks showing they where way overcooked. Unfriendly service as well, no reason to come back. At least the bathrooms were nice from the shared property.

Great stuff. As authentic mainland Chinese food as you get in Seattle. A great taste of northern and szechuan cuisine. Friendly host, clean restaurant, good food, what else do you need?

I had a very satisfactory experience with this new place at north Seattle. They feature char-broiled skewered with lamb and squid which has limited choices. But I Love their assorted cold dishes for appetizer(only $ 8.99 for up to 3 choices), then select hot dishes with casserole or dry pot with many specialty meats like fish, ribs, lamb, even rabbit meat, frog, and pig intestines etc. They also added recently self pick«ma la tang» in hot spicy soup which I will try next time, and also one can bring his owner seafood for them to process, they will charge only something like $ 8.99(per lb ?), one can select different ways to cook, either BBQ, boiled, on sizzling plate or add extra spices. If you like hot and spicy food this is the one to patronize at north end of Seattle at the old K Mart building where they now house Hobby Lobby and an Asian Supermarket.

The kiddo had been wanting to try Master Chef ever since it was being constructed in the Asian Food Center complex, but usually when we walk by it’s always full. The signs were aligned for us — parking right out front and perfect timing to score a table. This time we planned it after school during that time frame where it’s too late for lunch, but too early for dinner. Interesting set up with picnic table styled seating and paper menus similar to ordering system for dim sum. Menu needs to work on correcting a lot of typos though. Anyways, selections came out fairly fast and perfect temp straight from the grill and wok. We stuck with citrusy ice water(next time I’ll try the house tea) and started with a trio of Lamb Skewers(2 of 3 spice level, $ 4.99). Main entrees that followed included Streaky Pork with Garlic Sauce atop sliced cucumber($ 12.99). This was essentially sliced pork belly with a racheted up garlic sauce. Delicious, but definitely need a breath mint. The other entrée was Stir Fried Noodle($ 8.99) which was really good — nice toothy noodles, tender shiitake mushrooms, bean sprouts, other fine cut veg, and tasty scrambled egg.(Twice we had tried to get to Yang’s Noodles but it was closed… guess it was meant to be to try Master Chef) Probably one of the reasons, this didn’t score a 5 star is because the bowl of steamed rice($ 1.00) wasn’t exactly as fresh as it could have been. Asian restaurants need to consistently nail steamed rice. I’ll be back though and try dishes with eggplant and baby pak choi. Don’t come here expecting stuff like sweet and sour pork and other streamlined entrees for Panda Express-like tame palates. However, if apps/entrees like lamb kidney, lamb giblets, chicken heart, calf ribs, dry pot with choices including rabbit, frog, or pig intestine, stir fried stomach, and something called Maoxuewang are intriguing, then this place is for you!

This was one of the worst Chinese food I ever had. We ordered the boiled fish 1*. And when it came out it looks like a pile of red pepper on top of the fish, but when we dig into it, it was SO Salty that it burned my tongue. The mushrooms and baby bok Choy was also salty but was not as bad. This place was also expensive for what they served. So don’t waste your money there.

This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants! Don’t be turned away by the reviews that said they ordered appetizers(lamb skewers) and were SHOCKED that they were bite size. I mean, who knew appetizers were small!!! We were actually going to Asian Food Center to pick up some groceries and noticed that Master Chef was finally open. We walked in just to scope it out, and the second we walked in, we knew we were eating there! The food smelled AMAZING!!! And it looked even better, if that’s possible. The menu was a little tough to navigate, but the wait staff was so incredibly helpful, that they literally walked us through each dish. The food was out fairly quickly, and it was FABULOUS! Big portions, phenomenal flavor, and just over the top spectacular! We had the Dry Pot with Big Shrimp, Twice Cooked Pork, Shredded Potatoes, Water Spinach w/Garlic, and the Fried Rice. Each dish had a delicate blend of flavors, and blew us away. I’d never had a dry pot before, and now it’s quickly become a must have dish when going out for Szechuan! It was full of flavors like cumin, pepper, ginger, jalapeño, along with so many more! The twice cooked pork was spicy porky goodness. The water spinach was perfect — not too soggy and not too crunchy, while being perfectly balanced with the flavor of garlic. I love sour shredded potatoes, and Master Chef does a wonderful job or maintaining the balance of flavors between the potatoes, vinegar, and chili oil. The fried rice was what I remember fried rice to be like in China — light, eggy, and flavorful. All in all this restaurant is worth visit after visit.

It’s so difficult to find an authentic Da Pai Dang restaurant in Seattle, and finally this is it! My friend and I were extremely happy to find that they serve baked fish here. Great food!

Pretty all-around awful. The portion sizes were terrible. You have to buy rice per bowl that is the size of an orange. The appetizers were gross. The sesame seed wheat pancake that we got was dry and tasteless. The lamb skewers were so tiny(see photo with my hand comparison) and were made of the fatty ends that were cut off when trimming. Would not go back.

Food here is mediocre and overpriced. We got the lamb skewers, which had the smallest little pieces of meat on them; tasted good but not enough for the price. The water spinach wasn’t fresh, and was over salted. Fried rice was very bland – the kind you get in really cheap Chinese restaurants – but here, they charge $ 9 for the plate. Twice cooked pork was not cooked well, and was missing the spiciness that we asked for. Overall, the food here was entirely forgettable, and we won’t be coming back.

We ordered«mushroom chicken», the taste was good but there is no real chicken meat, only lots of small chicken bones, it was wings, the chef cut into lots of small pieces. We had 3 adults, average age are over 70 years old and one 5 years old child. This dish cost $ 10.99.i felt being cheated, gave suggestion to manager, no satisfactory answer was given. Hope the service and food quality will improve in the future.

Just recently opened Chinese restaurant with a small menu of dishes. Pretty standard type of items that taste home-made. We got the lamb skewer(4.99 $), squid on skillet(4.99 $), rice(1 $), pork sausage claypot(11.99 $), and eggplant w/garlic sauce(10.99 $). The appetizers of lamb and squid skewers were severely over priced… you got 2 squids and 3 skewers of tiny little pieces of lamb. It’s true this is how it’s done in the night markets, but charging $ 5 is a huge rip off! Rice was also $ 1 per bowl, which was disappointing. The pork sausage clay pot was delicious though. There was plenty of sausages within, but could have used more bok choy on top to balance the flavor. The rice was nice and crispy at the bottom. The eggplant was plentiful and its sauce a little spicy, even though we asked for no spicy. Prices are high here, but still typical for Seattle. Overall, pretty decent and authentic spot. Wouldn’t mind coming back! Edit: I thought this tasted very Taiwanese, but I was wrong. Per the restaurant staff, they serve Northern Chinese food.

We had the spicy crawfish and twice cooked pork. It was delicious! Tons of interesting menu items and the waiter told us they’ll cook anything you buy at the market in any style. Some guys had brought in lobster and it looked amazing. I can’t wait to go back!

The sausage claypot tastes good. Cool dishes are delicious too. But it took us one and half hour to have the meal.
