We went here today and the food was great! Was a bit confused when we first walked in — you can order food to go at the counter and there isn’t a host stand — but when the server noticed us we were quickly seated. The service was fine and they brought us water and tea without asking before the person pushing the carts around arrived. Food was delicious and the free tea is a nice addition. The prices aren’t listed, which is kind of typical, but it is frustrating that the server carried a menu in their apron and does not give it to you. However, the specials are good and there are many options available the cart. I really enjoyed the green beans. Would definitely recommend and return!

Not good. I love dim sum, so was excited to try this new place in my area. I got three items for take out — 2 were super slimy, one had a bug on it. Will not be back.

Dishes we had were terribly salty and didn’t look presentable – looked like mashed up greens in a foggy soup that tasted like the ocean.

Given that this place is in North Seattle, the food is very tasty compared to other chinese places in the area. The prices aren’t too bad either. This place can get very busy on the weekends and the service is typical of any chinese restaurant. I would really give this place a 3.5 because I love how close it is, but bumped it down because of service miscommunications.

Been there a few times. The food is pretty good, I wish they told everybody that they can order other dishes for the menu, the server has menu with them but not telling people about it. Love the hot sauce they have on the table. Overal, good dim sum, a bit pricey and prepare for a typical Chinese restaurant service, hit & miss.

This was my first time here. I am not sure I’ll be back any time soon. :( The service wasn’t particularly fast to get a table set and some warm tea. They do push real dim sum carts around and the food is just okay. I was quite surprised though that all the dishes were considered medium or large. I would have thought that the small dim sum steamers would have been considered small. it looks likes they also have all you can heat hot pot. I’m not sure I’ll try that as I find it easy to make hot pot at home.

Pricing for dim sum is really high. I ordered wontons, fried sticky rice, 2 orders of ha gow, prawn rolls, and they threw in the fried buns for free(which was great!). But the price still came out to $ 27…a little too high for this LA transplant :(

Not the best dim sum but it does the job. If you crave some average Chinese food, this is your spot.

2.5 stars for the dimsum only. The BBQ selection is fairly solid. Meh, I was not impressed with the dim sum here. I was wondering about this place for awhile since I frequently go to Asian Food Center and have seen it open finally. After finally trying it… I was left extremely unsatisfied. I ordered typical dishes such as hai kao(shrimp dumpling), shu mai(pork/shrimp dumpling), eggplant, chicken feet, and sticky rice. The only thing that was decent was the sticky rice and the chicken feet was at least meaty. Meanwhile, the dumplings were extremely overcooked, and the eggplant was cold/undercooked. Sadly, will not be coming back for the dimsum.

I came here because it is conveniently nearby me and is in the same parking lot as two supermarkets that I shop at weekly. Over the weekends they do have a short line that develops but it isn’t as long as what you would find in good dim sum places in Chinatown. I would only come here if I was too lazy to drive to Chinatown. The food is very salty. I had their steamed shrimp balls and it was a group of four small ones that didn’t have much flavor except saltiness. Their shu mai(steamed pork dumpling) and pan fried chive and shrimp dumpling was also on the small and salty side. I wished that my water glass was twice the size to counter how salty the food at this place is. Honey walnut prawns was standard although not super crispy. Cherng fun(rice ribbon rolls) with shrimp was good and the sticky rice with meat was moist but was also on the saltier side. The good thing is, they are good at refilling tea and water, especially since they don’t give you a teapot.

This dum sum spot is ok. I wouldn’t give it exceptional ratings just because of how unorganized it is. The lady who sat us down completely forgotten that she wrote our name down so we constantly had to let her know we were already on the wait list to be seated. The dim sum are decent, but you don’t get a large portion as compared to Jade Garden in the I-D. I’ll give this place some time to configure their organization and I’ll revisit this post just because it’s fairly new and they’re trying to get with the program.

Not so bueno. My husband and I were super excited that this place opened up since there aren’t that many dim sum places in North Seattle, aside from JB Gardens. This place looked legit too because it is located in a Asian food center. The restaurant is in a newer building so everything appears clean and new. The food was rather a disappointment for me. We had walked by this place for a long time but never stopped by. I asked my husband to buy me some dim sum to go. The shrimp balls were super tiny. They came in threes. For more than a dollar a piece, this was pretty expensive. The shrimp dim sum didn’t taste that exceptional. The only thing that was exceptional were the portions. He also go me the deep friend sticky rice. This wasn’t that memorable either. The glutinous rice was a little better but again, not better than any of the dim sum restaurants in the International District. Hopefully, they were just having a bad day or they are still on a learning curve.

Not the best dim sum place I’ve experienced but I can definitely see the potential! This is a very new place that still has a lot to improve. I did like the variety that they had but would love to see more at my next few visits. There were a few waiters that we cycled through who took way too long to bring water/tea/napkins etc. But there was one lady that helped us toward the end that was really great. The price here is not bad, though, especially with the option of ordering duck. Will definitely try this place again in the near future and update my review accordingly!

It’s tough to grocery shop on an empty stomach so I came to HK just before visiting the Asian Food Mart next door. Being as hungry as I was, this was a great option because the food took minutes to prep and serve. Just two of us, we ordered 5 dim sum dishes and shared them. Soup dumplings, deep-fried shrimp dumplings, mushroom rolls, and more. Everything was good but nothing was totally mind blowing our outstanding. The restaurant itself is clean albeit a little bare and unwelcoming. Staff was friendly and the food was cheap. I’d come back again, but only if I happened to be in the area. Not a place I’d drive out of my way for but still tasty and satisfying. They have food to go as well!

I’ve had them bookmarked since they opened and when a friend of ours came over for a late lunch date, we decided to check HK Dim Sum out instead. Since it was in between services, the place was sparsely populated. We were shown to a table that was clean and already set with place settings. Our server stopped by our table shortly after the menu and a large pot of hot tea(with leaves!) arrived. We ordered: — baked char siu bao — deep fried shrimp balls — honey walnut shrimp — har how — Szechuan-style green beans With our order, there was no tepid temperatures or fillers in our food. The honey walnut shrimp was crisp, not soggy with sauce. The green beans were also nicely made without being too salty or overcooked. I had to ask our server a couple times for a beverage that our friend ordered. We also didn’t receive a requested item but we also weren’t charged so we weren’t that bothered. For the majority of the meal, we felt like we were tended to accordingly and our used plates were cleared quickly. When it was time for dessert, I went with some egg custard tarts and a fat wedge of steamed brown sugar cake(Ma Lai Gao or Malay cake). Our server brought us another pot of tea to accompany the sweets too. In addition to their dim sum and full size entrée menus, they also sell the usual Chinese BBQ items for takeaway. Behind their counter, I saw roasted pork, roasted duck, and soy sauce chicken. While we were there, I saw several customers come in just for takeaway BBQ. I think the price point was around $ 10 per pound. On the weekends, I’ve noticed a lot of customers at the market so I imagine they might get a fair amount of foot traffic also. Parking is plentiful with several ADA spaces right in front.

We were excited for this restaurant to be opened that we went there the first two hours they opened. We thought they would have dim sum but nope, they didn’t. So we went there again the next week for the dim sum. Not a lot of choices but we liked it there because of the roasted pork. I am big fan of roasted pork. I often asked my husband to order to go for me. And today we went there again to get the roasted pork. I asked for one pound. When I handed the credit card, the cashier asked for cash instead. Good thing I have $ 11 in cash. I don’t wanna argue, but thought it was weird that she didn’t wanna take my credit card. I didn’t see any sign saying there is minimum for using the credit card, and I like to save my cash for emergencies. So, I have been wondering about the amount of the roasted pork that we got every time we do take out. Today, I decided to weigh it at home. So apparently they gave me 13oz of roasted pork but charged us for one pound(16oz) so GOODBYEHK Dimsum! We won’t waste our money on you anymore!

I’ve noticed some reviews that are trying to compare this place(or any Seattle dim sum place) to dim sum in Richmond/Vancouver, BC. Those aren’t even comparable, it’s like comparing a Ferrari to a Civic. Dim sum in Vancouver is like eating dim sum in Hong Kong. Anyways, comparing HK Dim Sum to other places in Seattle is definitely more realistic. Does the dim sum in Chinatown blow away this place? No, it doesn’t. HK dim sum is decent, but definitely not the best you can get in Seattle. Also, prices are a tad higher than Chinatown, but when you factor in hunting for parking and paying the meter, it basically averages out. Parking is in abundance here since it’s located right next to the Asian Food Center. Had some various dim sum items ranging from shrimp dumplings to rice rolls. One thing I noticed is that they are pretty skimpy with their shrimp. The shrimp dumplings(Ha Gau) were pretty small and had only one small piece of shrimp in it. Also, the skin/wrapper was too thick. The shrimp rice roll had very little shrimp in it and was mostly rice noodle. On a different note, the dry beef chow fun was pretty tasty and good! I would recommend that. Downside is that this place uses wayyyyy too much MSG. God damn, I was thirsty all day long! Tone that MSG down! Upside: Jasmine tea was Free! Most places would charge for tea at dim sum. Also, service was pretty good. They came around a couple times and asked how the food was. In addition, my water glass was never empty and was always refilled without asking, a rarity to find at a Chinese restaurant. If you’re up in North Seattle/Shoreline and don’t want to trek down to Chinatown, then this place was suffice, but don’t expect the greatest dim sum.

I have enjoyed dim sum from San Francisco to Richmond, BC Canada. So I was really looking forward to checking out HK Dim Sum with a college friend after work. Greeted and seated upon entry, menus, tea and water offered immediately. Decent staff. Note: Probably is better to have dim sum during their lunch to early afternoon hours. Dinner time it’s very limited — no carts, just limited choices from the pictorial menu. Here is the lowdown in the order received: Not well paced, so pack your patience if you are ravenously hungry. Tea — tasty and piping hot Ice water Shrimp Paste Eggplant — generous with the shrimp per college friend Half Roast Duck — Not served hot, barely warm. Congealed plum sauce. Needs to render the fat more, had chewy, not crispy duck skin Single serving rice — again not steaming hot or moist. Thank goodness for soy sauce. BBQ Pork Steamed Buns — Kind of smallish, but okay, generous with the filling Shrimp and Pork Siu Mai — Okay, but again not very warm. Garnished with shrimp on top. Turnip Cake — Prominent shrimp flavor, but very gloppy texture. Kept falling apart. And then the eternal wait for the Pork Short Ribs with Chow Fun and Bean Sprouts Hot Pot… but finally it did appear, but only when we inquired about it. This was a substitution for something else college friend preferred, but was unavailable. Yes, the external serving dish was hot(duh hot pot), the food contents were not. No soup, not a smidge of broth. There were bits of gristly bone, greasy rolled up noodles, and the major disappointment was one of the pork short ribs was still undercooked and visibly pink. And, yes college friend showed it to one of the servers who brought it to the kitchen staff to view. No sincere apologies or comp’ed for this particular dish. Not cool in my book, since I did work in the restaurant industry for a few years. However, serving two microbiologists who like to cook and eat, totally underwhelming, tepid dishes was a major negative. At least, I didn’t have a stick thermometer with me to test each item ordered. HK Dim Sum needs to work on TIMING and most importantly TEMPERATURE to prevent any potential food borne illnesses. Fortunately, I’ve been home for an hour after leaving the restaurant and I don’t have any GI issues. Paying for nearly $ 50 including tip, I would have fared a lot better, left much more satisfied, and had a ton of food from most other local places. They’re fairly new, hopefully things will improve down the road. Avoid dinner time, check them out midday to early afternoon instead.

Fiancé and I were running errands, drove by and finally saw it was open! Yes! Definitely stopped in around 12:30pm on a Saturday, there was absolutely no wait and we seated ourselves. A lot of room, not typical crowded dimsum restaurant. We ordered 10dishes, all came pretty quick with the carts but took 10−15min for our last one of Chinese broccoli. Everything was DELICIOUS! I was blown away on the quality of the food. My favorite was the wonton in chili sauce and shu mai(had shrimp on top). After eating 10 different dishes, we ordered half duck to go and our bill total was $ 64.83, huge deals!!! I love this place now because not only is it 10min away, but everything is cheap and SOOOOOOOGOOD! Highly recommend to everyone who loves dimsum like I do ^__^

2.5 stars, really. I’ve experienced better but the staff are friendly and quick to respond once you’re seated. Food is okay. We had the har gao, siu mai, chive dumplings, deep fried dough with meat filling, cherng fun with shrimp, beef tendon, and a couple others I can’t translate into English. Everything was ookay. The only thing that was solidly good were the chive dumplings. Otherwise, rice wrappers on the har gao were mushy and fell apart when you picked up the dumpling, har gao and siu mai were on the small side, fillings were a little too salty. My sister noted that her plate seemed less than clean. We ordered the jasmine tea, which was hot and good. They were quick to refill the pot and they use real tea leaves. The food here is on the pricey side, compared to Chinatown. We ordered seven dishes that were ordinary dim sum items. On our receipt, they charged us for 2 med($ 3.50/ea), 3 large($ 4.25/ea) and 2 specials($ 4.50). I think we’d rather drive down to Jade Garden, though. Better quality food, cheaper prices, larger portions.
