Lenny’s Produce

Great place but you really have to Check for items that are expired because I’ve purchased so many items with past expiration dates.

I first chanced upon Lenny’s Produce while dining out at JB Garden next door. Upon arriving, you’ll find a small and cozy space with fruit and vegetable boxes lining the outside entrance, a greeting sure to meet your every vegetable and fruit-​ful need.
Very reasonable prices. Very fresh produce. Better pricing that your conglomerate chains of Safeway, 99 Ranch or QFC. And they have a wide variety of produce including those you’ll typically only find in ethnic grocery stores. A stop at Lenny’s during your grocery run is essential.
We found 6 different types of apples; 3 types of navel oranges; dragon fruits, guava and pineapple. They also got papaya, pomegranate, persimmons — both the fuyu and hachiya types. Bean sprouts by the bag. prewashed-​bagged kale (perfect for your blending needs). Plus carrots, celery, asparagus, broccoli, strawberries, and your typical grocery fare of veggies and fruits.
They even have a small selection of noodles, premade sauces, spices and a few other key essentials. If you’re looking to stock up on veggies on the cheap, Lenny’s the place to go!

This is a convenient and cheap place to get produce and some other random grocery items. Strawberries for $ 1.70 and lettuce for $ 1.00. You do have to rummage a bit to find the better produce but well worth it for the price. We buy all our fruits and vegetables here and love it all.
Also have some good cookies and snacks!

Nice selection and great prices, but there’s a reason the produce is relatively cheap here: it usually doesn’t hold up long at all (even in the fridge). Four day on most stuff and you’re either cooking it or its compost-​bound. If you do your shopping once a week (like we do) you’ll have to kick it up to twice a week or else adapt you’re eating habits later in the week.
Staff is friendly and helpful, though. The clientele is also very diverse.

I love bargains. I also love food. The combination of a bargain food? Yes, please! As a bonafide grownup adult, «eat your veggies! Where’s your nutrition?!» gets thrown around often. To which I could typically reply, «where’s my bonafide grownup adult paycheck?!» Produce is not cheap. Having to choose between a half tank of gas and four Fuji apples is dumb, but at Lenny’s I can easily walk out of there with a weeks worth of produce for $ 10! If you head down the street to QFC, you’ll end up paying $ 10 on 3 or 4 apples. That’s just plain nonsense.
At one point in time last summer, they had blueberries for 99 cents. As in 99 pennies. For blueberries. One might think with a price so low, that the produce would be questionable. Well hold onto your pessimism, because your mind is about to be blown! Their produce is pretty stinking delicious and will last quite a few days!
Not only are the prices amazing, the cashiers are also pretty phenomenal. Quick. Friendly. Polite small talk. What is this magical place?
As someone mentioned earlier, parking can be kinda crappy one or two evenings a week. Just depends on the time of day. Especially with the delicious Tiko Riko right next door.

What can I say. It’s across the street. The prices are fantastic. The veg is usually very fresh. They have Latin, Indian, and Asian staple needs totally covered. Best fruit and veg stand thus far in my limited experience.

This place is great! Very affordable prices on their fruits and produce. Took off 1 star because cleanliness could be better.

When I first came here, I honestly did not think anything of it. If it weren’t my for my fiancée, I would have never found this place. I am so glad I did! This place is a gem! You can find high quality produce for a very cheap price. For example, Kale at Safeway or Fred Meyer usually costs around $ 1.99+. Kale here is either 79 or 99 cents. Cucumbers are buy 3 for a $ 1 and 5 pounds worth of carrots are around $ 2. All prices that you cannot find at your typical grocery store. You can also purchase packaged foods such as noodles, along with an assortment of common and hard to find spices & sauces. There are even some hard to find items such as aloe vera, bitter melon, plantains, enoki mushrooms, etc… Some negatives to this place is that the facility itself feels like you are in a garage (it is essentially an outdoor stand) and they don’t have any organic options. The parking is also pretty difficult if you come around 5pm.
Overall, I go here once a week to get produce and I am very pleased with my purchases here. I’ve gotten to know the staff here and they are really friendly. They will usually put all your food in a box similar to Costco or you can ask for a plastic bag. If you plan on using a card, keep in mind it’s a $ 10 minimum.

Remarkable prices. Where can you find pink lady and honey crisp apples for $ 0.79?!? Bought all my fruit for the week (bunch of bananas, 6 apples, 4 satsumas, 2 grapefruit, and 8 oranges) which rang up to just under $ 10. The one complaint is that there is no organic options but to save some cash come here!

Great place for affordable veggies. Definitely worth a visit.

I came in for the first time because it’s so close to me. I got so many things for such a great price. I love that there is fruit and vegetables, but also Asian foods! Beats the grocery store

Fresh, cheap Washington produce at the most unbeatable prices and top-​notch quality. But, not only will you find fresh, local produce, but also packaged goods and homemade treats (crystallized ginger, dried fruit, pastries, etc).
OMG, tummy ecstasy, crisp apples that beat prices at HT Market, Fred Meyer, and Safeway PLUS crystallized ginger!
Within walking distance to the above markets, Lenny’s Produce will be getting my business for fruit and veggies.

This is now one of my top places for fruits and vegetables. It is no challenge to find fresh produce half the price of QFC. Plus, they have a Ukraine corner for your Eastern European (sausage, fish, etc.) cuisine. Big containers of food oils (grapeseed, safflower, olive), bagged beans, Asian biscuits, raw honey, nuts… $ 20 spent strategically could set you up nicely for close to a week.

I heard great things about Lenny’s Produce so I decided to check it out. If you go at 5 p.m. parking is a little hard to find but still worth coming here. The produce looked very fresh and ripe. it was all very VERY affordable. If you go across the street the QFC, the price appears almost double to what they charge here. The vegetables are comparable to the prices that you see at the Korean markets.
I made a couple of dishes with the vegetables that I bought here and they tasted great. They also lasted for a while so I don’t think they sell you almost expired food. The only minor issue that I had with this place was that it was on the dirtier side. Aside from this, everything was inexpensive and great.

One of the best produce selections in town! We were able to get plantains, which at times are tough to find in Seattle. The prices were good and we really enjoyed the experience!

Lenny’s is a little produce shop by Holman and Greenwood. When I say little, it means it’s little! There’s limited parking spots in the plaza shared with other shops and restaurants! However, if you go there at the right time, you won’t have any parking problem. I’d say, around 11AM. There are tons of fresh, cheap, special produce. The price is a lot cheaper than a lot of places. However, you have patience to pick. There’s a small section with some Asian groceries. It’s very neat how they can fit fresh produce and Asian groceries in this little shop.

Lychee and grass jelly available in one spot! Opo squash=6.99lb at Fred Meyer, but .79 each at Lenny’s. Phad Thai at Oriental Market at Pike=2.99, 1,29 at Lenny’s.

This is an awesome little neighborhood produce shop, with a tiny canned/​dry good section as well as an indoor-​outdoor fruit and veggie market.
Prices are awesome here, and while they didn’t have a huge selection, they do carry some specialty items. I almost grabbed a pint of black figs because they were a steal at 2.00, but were a tad overripe for my liking. I settled on some chinese long beans, some mushrooms, a knob of ginger and a head of garlic.
Total damage: $ 1.85. Yeah. I’d come back for cheap produce any day, because I don’t have a budget for organic everything, which you won’t find here, and i’m not too picky about how I ingest my pesticides and chemicals, personally.

Lenny’s is pretty darn cheap for veggies. Fruit is cheap as well but they don’t seem to stay fresh for very long. As an experiment, the hub and I created a shopping basket that mimicked a CSA basket for the week and instead of the $ 30 from a CSA, it was $ 14 from Lenny’s. Sure, it’s not organic or local, but if it’s cheap, close, and helps me eat more veggies, I can dig it now and then. I’ve purchased stuff to make café sua da for about $ 10 (enough to make dozens of drinks).
They have a section of canned/​dry/​snacky goods off to the side and on the other, a darkened Ukranian shop that hasn’t been open the three odd times I’ve gone.
Parking can get stuffed up at the busy intersection of 105^th/​Greenwood/​Holman, but folks seem to come and go relatively quickly.
The folks working there are real nice. They were even open during Snowpocalypse 2012 too!

This is a gem in the Greenwood area. Take some time and peruse, there’s a lot to be seen here. And the prices are truly awesome! I don’t know their source. Someone posited that they might have fallen from a truck… but at any rate, you can leave with a sack full of fresh fruit and veg for cheap.
They also sell Asian goods and Ukrainian food items, both worth rifling through if you have the time. If I cannot make it to Top Banana in Ballard, I’ll swing by here for the fresh goods! The staff has always been pleasant enough. Parking is limited but I’ve never had difficulty in finding a spot.
