Really good produce, helpful staff, and a great location. Unfortunately I’ve got some duds here but I told them and they replaced the bad fruit right away with no hassle.
Great place, would be 5 stars if it was cheaper.

This place is so good. Produce is the bomb, and every time I’m there, someone comes strolling out with some slices of the best anything I’ve ever tasted. So cool. I feel like the staff really know what they’re doing.

Good solid local produce at good prices. This is my new go to spot for fruits and vegies!

This place has a wide selection of fruit and vegetables, along with miscellaneous other grocery items. And the price is consistently low. I appreciate the signs out front that list the specials, like avocados, 2 for a dollar.
They carry local fruit when it is in season. You can always ask them which are the best apples or oranges, and they will also let you sample much of the fruit.
Their attitude is friendly. And they have plenty of parking.
I eat better when I go here!

I’ve been a Ballardite for over 8 years now and Top Banana have always been, by far, the best place to get produce in Ballard. Conveniently located on 15^th NW and 65^th NW, stopping there always makes for a speedy trip when in need of a little grocery shopping. They have an abundance of parking, friendly staff (they love talking sports) and always fresh produce. They also sell a lot of local chip dips, breads and other products as well (most of it is excellent). If you’re a health nut and love a great selection of produce, Top Banana is the place to go.

Great service with excellent varieties of produce. It’s all extremely tasty. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is the sheer number of fruit flies during the simmer (though that’s not totally their fault).

The best place to buy produce and you are spending your $ supporting a small local business. Have always loved this place! Also don ‘t forget about buying your Christmas tree there-​they will treat you right! Tim and Peg

Top banana is great!!! Better prices on most fruit and veggies than the grocery store. If it’s on your way it’s a must. If it’s out of your way then take a different way home!

Cool place, good produce, but a little pricey for what I was expecting. That said, they have a great selection of fruits and veggies and some other items. I’m not positive I’d do my weekly shopping there (maybe after another try?) but it’s worth stopping in, poking around, and buying a pineapple. Because hey, who doesn’t love a pineapple?

The only thing I miss from the year I spent living in Sacramento (California) are the produce stands that dot the highways.
I never thought moving back to Seattle would include having access to them again, but thanks to Top Banana that is the case!
Within walking distance from my house I love this little stand, with its great selection of fresh produce, some refrigerated items, honey, etc. It’s a mini-​farmers market and corner store in one. Love it.

Love having a produce place nearby! It’s SUPER cheap and the quality is still great. One time I didn’t have cash and the cashier spotted me the $ 6 that my bag of produce was and just said to bring extra next time. That was great and yes, I paid him back. But just be prepared to bring cash or a check book.

I’ve been having a lot of fruit cravings — or my fetus has anyway. Top Banana is my little piece of heaven. I sampled the champagne mangos and the dew melons and was hooked. Then a lady came around with slices of nectarine, fresh off the knife. Don’t mind if I do! Also, the only place to have more than one variety of cherry at this time of year, and at reasonable prices.
They also have coolers with beverage items. I picked up some locally made Bloody Mary mix for my bloody husband.
On a totally non food-​related note, I actually drove all around town looking for someone selling hanging baskets of flowers for cheaper than Top Banana ($ 16.99/plant.) Ballard Market, nope. Fred Meyer, nope. Home Depot, nope. Get your plants here!

I love Top Banana! The people here are actually knowledgable about produce. I also really like that they walk around handing out samples of what’s in season. I stop by weekly to get juicing supplies and for the area, it can’t be beat.

I less-​than-​three this place, easily one of my favorite greengrocers in the area! Their produce is always fresh and inviting, with samples available throughout the stacks. They have a cold case with interesting items like asadero cheese, excellent for tlayudas or nachos! If there’s someone before me at the register, I always end up impulse buying stuff like the Goya products or fresh baguettes… maybe a honey stick or four. But usually end up spending around $ 20.00 for a sack of beautiful produce that is quickly consumed.

I stumbled on this place as I was zipping around the city. It is an amped up fruit stand but not quite a grocery store. Some produce looked awesome (blueberries) while the other didn’t look so hot (corn). I’m guessing you need to know exactly what is in season to get the best deal. I couldn’t find any organic stuff so not sure if I wasn’t looking hard enough. It’s a good back up to the farmer’s market. If I could only find the organic stuff…

Still reading? We came here twice this past weekend based largely on the fair pricing of Rainier Cherries and convenient location, but came away über-​impressed. As others have said, the service is super friendly and will not hesitate to cut you a fat wedge of fruit to get you a taste of that fruit you are about to buy. Nice variety of organic and non-​organic alike. Buy Seattle and buy local. 5 stars for the Top Banana.

Easily my favorite produce store in the city, because of the attention the people here put into procuring and caring for their produce. This care can be seen in how they tend to the fruit they sell — new fruit is kept underneath the shelves to air ripen, and when ready, are brought up to the fruit pyramids. Those that are fully ripened and ready to be eaten are kept at the very top, while those that still need a day or two are kept lower in the pyramid.
Wandering the store, you’ll notice that the same type of produce will oftentimes have different prices. This too, is an indication of the care they put into procuring their produce. Those that are priced higher are cared for more during transport, never being placed in cold storage, and are oftentimes sweeter than their cheaper counterparts.
My personal recommendation is to try their organic strawberries — hands-​down the best strawberries I’ve ever had in my life. In fact, they’re so popular among customers that they oftentimes aren’t in stock, as people will go in bright and early to buy entire flats of them.
As several others have mentioned, they do take credit, but only for orders over $ 10.

Don’t get me wrong. I love myself a Farmer’s Market. But I love a good deal just a little bit better. And to be honest, why drop a wad of cash when you can come here and afford everything plus more!
Top Banana really is Tops. The owners here won’t cheat you, but give you the best of the best in quality, selection, variety and price on fruits and vegetables. Weekly deals on seasonal and local produce keep me coming back. A lot of the time their deals are better than Fred Meyer, Safeway and QFC.
They offer both organic and non-​organic produce. And not everything is super local. For example: they carry pineapple and mangos… but I’d like you to show me where in Washington a farm can grow tropical fruit…
Come here for a treat if you are hungry cause they always have samples :) Crazy wide selection of apples: at least 10 varieties. Incredible friendly, informational, and fun employees. They always bust me up laughing. Willing to give you a deal too. For instance I informed them my mango went bad/​rotted before I ate it, so they gave me a new one, no charge, no questions asked.
If you love the gorillas at the local Woodland Park Zoo, you’ll be happy to know that Top Banana sends a box of fruit to their gorillas!
