Love this place. The servers are extremely knowledgable; the wine is wonderful and the food is delicious. Get the mushrooms!

My husband and I stopped by after a day of sight seeing. The menu was in French but don’t let that intimidate you. The owner and staff were beyond helpful. We described what we liked and his recommendations were spot on. Reasonable prices, phenomenal service and a relaxing atmosphere. Next time we visit Seattle this is on the list.

Cute place. Nice and cozy. Sweet and attentive waitress. Great place to duck out of the rain. Planche de fermir was delicious, as well as roasted mushrooms were amazing. Tasty bread selection and great wine selections.

Good and reasonably priced selection of French wines. Nice, hip atmosphere, good service and healthy pours. Had the sautéed mushrooms and Serrano ham for some snacks, which did not disappoint. A really cool find and I recommend.

Seriously? Can’t judge a book. Place is small and quaint. We got there just before they opened, and were let in early by a gentleman with a personality and a wealth of knowledge. But to heck with that. 20 minutes after they opened the place was standing room only. Wine: phenomenal. Food: phenomenal. Service: phenomenal. Fantastic place. We are from LA. I will come back to visit. If you’re visiting Seattle and a wine enthusiast, or just like good charcuterie, you NEED to visit this place. Period.

Came here with a colleague a few weeks ago to avoid the rush hour traffic. It was full, but not uncomfortably crowded. We shared a bottle of wine and a few plates, including the duck, and a cheese/charcuterie plate. We could not read the menu, save for a few words retained from my two years of high school French, but the server was very patient with us as we asked him all kinds of questions. The wine was lovely — it came recommended by our server, and it did not disappoint. The butter that was served with the cheese plate — it was an imported butter from Brittany. Oh my word — by far the best butter I’ve ever had. Usually cheese is the shining star on a cheese plate for me, but this time, it was all about the butter. I’m not typically a fan of duck, but this was a lovely, light preparation. The one complaint I had was about how small the table was. I know it’s designed for a cozy feel, but the fact that we couldn’t fit a cheese plate, glasses for wine and water, plus the two bottles, on the table, was a little frustrating. Luckily, the server suggested shifting the water carafe to the wide ledge behind the booth seat I was sitting in, and that worked like a charm.

C’ESTTOODAMNBON. It was girl’s night out. The menu was written in French on the wall; it was completely useless to us but the server was extremely friendly in helping us choose a budget-friendly red wine. Two of us wanted to order all three charcuterie platters, but the server insisted that we order one to share. We ended up sharing 1 Beaujolais(Boo-jew-lays) charcuterie platter, an order of tuna tartare, and 1 bottle of ~$ 30 red wine(2010 Domaine J. Boulon Morgon from the same region of France). It was extremely filling and extremely crowded by dinner time ~6pm. We asked for extra bread, but the server forgot and we got madeleine(french butter) cookies for complementary dessert instead.

Oh my god. I love this place so much. The second I stepped into this charming, small wine bar in the Denny Triangle, I was in love. It’s a French wine bar and Old World wine is not as common in Seattle, I’ve noticed. Makes sense since Washington makes great wines itself. Some bars serve Old World wine but I have only found a few devoted to it(plus Spanish/French/Italian restaurants like RN74, Black Bottle etc). This place serves exclusively French wine. If you don’t know French wine, no problem. The staff is super helpful and not the least bit intimidating. They helped us select wines based off our preferences and they were both wonderful.(The menu is on the wall.) They also served some charcuterie here which looked delicious. The décor is so charming, French, wine-themed and on point. I love it so much. The only criticism I would have of this place is that it’s cramped but it truly is the perfect stop after work, dinner or a day of shopping downtown!

If you’re looking for a small, intimate, and cozy space to just chill out and sip on some delicious French wine or snack on the yummy cheese/meat/cracker, make a trek to Le Caviste. Nestled amongst the businesses in downtown, this cute little place may seem a little bit out of the way, but really, that’s the charm of it. You walk in, there are small tables ideal for groups of 1 – 2, and there are options for bigger parties if the tables gets pushed together. Wine selection menu is on the wall… and…all in French. :) So if you’re unfamiliar with the French names, don’t hesitate to ask the friendly staff for recommendations. There are a few small plates available and overall, it’s quite a relaxing experience. Came here with a couple of friends, ordered a bottle of wine, and it was YUM. Definitely will swing back here again to try out the food and some more wine.

Do you like French wine and things written in French? You will love this place. I love the vibe here. Just a nice, relaxed, classy place. It gets very crowded on Friday’s around 7 but clears out around 9/10ish. The crowd is on the older side. The space is very small. Can’t wait till it gets warmer so I can sit outside. Their butterfish is amazing! So delicious. My friend and I split one and our table neighbors had some too… so amazing. Still thinking about it… Anyways, I love this place! the waitress is super nice and friendly. The food is good. The wine is great.

Le Caviste is a small and cozy place, ideal for a glass wine and some delicious cheeses and charcuterie. They only serve French wine but no need to be a connoisseur, the waiter will help you choose what they think you will like It is not a snobbish Wine Bar with a fake French style, but an authentic and very friendly place. It really reminded us of France. Everything we had was very good: saucisson, tome, terrine, French butter, cornichons, and bread(refilled without asking). Great place to go for a Happy hour or before heading to the theatre or a concert.

Great service, really delicious charcuterie & cheeses, & lots of yummy wines to choose from. I’m not too fancy, so the server was really friendly and helpful with selections! She got exactly what we were looking for based on our descriptions, both in terms of wine & food. One thing: I wish their bread was warm, everything else about it was top notch. And the prices aren’t too bad, either! Glad to have found such a cute & tasty charcuterie/wine bar! Definitely don’t miss.

Tried it for happy hour and I’m now reinvigorated to incorporate charcuterie, brie and bread into my regular diet! This is a small, rustic location in the midst of the new and hip expanded South Lake Union area. It’s right across the street from the federal courthouse. My coworker and I came here for happy hour after work one day. The service was friendly, and in about an hour, the place was packed with people. Surely I was not the only aware of how great this location is. We had the full charcuterie plate which came with bottomless baguette slices. 3 varieties of cured meats, cornichon, mustard, brie, and one or two other cheeses. The wine options were endless. The service was extremely friendly(though near the end as more patrons dined, was a bit slow since there were only two people working). I’m putting this on my happy hour list and will be back!

Wine and wine me!!! By now, everyone and their neighbors know that I’m a proud wino! I can drink wine anytime of the day. I’ve done several dozen trips based on the wine I wanted to try. Not saying I’m a connoisseur but I do enjoy wine and will take a glass of wine over many things! Seattle doesn’t have too many wine bars. I like the ones we’ve already have. But this was a pleasant addition! I love the cuteness of this place. Warm, cozy, minimalist! So pretty! And that giant chalk board full of wine names makes me squeal! Love ~ ambiance, wine!!! Charcuterie plates! Steak tartare! Yummm! Pari it with Vouvray! Champagne! Bordeaux, or even some Burgundy! Wine for days. They also have other wines as well as food. Overall, its a small, casual, dim lit spot. Exactly how I want my wine bar to be. Might be even a good spot to bring friends, bring dates! Bring all! I’ve had my last birthday at a wine bar. Maybe I can do my next one here! Let’s see!

it was a typical dark and rainy Seattle day when we stumbled upon this cute and romantic wine bar! great atmosphere — lots of small 2 – 4 person tables + several bar seats. a ton of reasonably priced($ 8-$ 12) red, white and sparkling wines by the glass — most of which were French aka foreign to me. however, the staff were all super casual and helpful in offering recommendations. we ordered one of the«planche», or planks, which was delicious! good size portion for sharing and a nice variety of charcuterie, cheeses and refillable bread: D definitely recommended for grabbing a post-work or pre-dinner drink and snack!

What a wonderful place! It feels like being back in France. Great selection of wine, superb food and an owner very nonchalant/easygoing that makes you feel welcomed. The design is modern, minimalistic, uncluttered and just THE place to be to enjoy french atmosphere in the middle of Seattle Downtown. And a nice hint: French atmosphere without one single picture of the eiffel tower or other touristy kitsch :) We had the«planche du beaujolais»(a platter with different Salami, fresh cheese, pork terrine, french salted butter, roasted and fresh bread) and the«steak tartar»(fresh, seasoned ground beef) and everything was really really delicious. I would love to be here much more often in the future as it reminds me of my beloved France…

Highly recommended by a French friend. One open table when we arrived on a Friday evening, located outside. We grabbed it. We filled up on food and had 3 glasses of wine, for less than $ 65. NOTE: the menu items are on a chalkboard, in French. FOOD: 4.5. — Fish plate. Salmon, smoked trout, scallops, sardines, and more. The salmon concoction atop the dark bread was heavenly. — Smoked duck. Topped with a few walnuts and oil. Loved it. — Cheese. We had a medium-hard Normandy cheese. Excellent! — Bread. Among the few excellent baguette breads I’ve had in Seattle, with a chewy crust and firm yet airy interior. Butter was from Brittany; though good we didn’t find it special. WINE: 4.0. We had two types of reds. Very good. AMBIANCE: 4.0. View of tall building across the street when dining outside. Few people walk by while one is dining. Traffic very light. SERVICE: 4.0. Advice on wine and food was spot-on. Usually prompt, but we and the German couple next to us had to wait(estimate) 15 minutes to get the waiters’ attention at one point. Fortunately this led us to start talking with that couple, and it was a wonderful conversation.

Loved this cute little spot! Each of the meat and cheese plates were broken up by type of meat. Never have I had a seafood and cheese plate so that was refreshing. The staff was very educated in their wines and the menu. My girlfriends and I will be back soon!

It’s French. It’s a wine bar. They serve charcuterie plates with things like terrine and saucisson and French butter and cornichons and… have I died and gone to heaven? Soon enough, the words legit, authentic, imported, etc. will probably be in the highlights. If you’re like me and your initial reaction to these words is to roll your eyes, I gotta tell you in the words of George Michael — you gotta have faith. Unless you speak French, you’ll sit there and be like, «WTF?» Everything is in French. Everything. The only words on the menu I knew were porc, olives and vin. Let’s get real, that’s all I needed to know anyway. Like, «Oh you all have pork and olives and wine? Giiiirrrrl you don’t need to beg me to stay.» The wines we tried were yummy. They were complex and clearly a lot of thought went into selecting them. I even quite enjoyed the chilled red. The food was generous and ridiculously delicious and, in keeping with the theme, served French-style on butcher paper of sorts straight on the table. The $ 15 charcuterie plate would have been perfect to be shared by 4 people for snacking and was perfect for 2 people as a dinner substitute. Service was knowledgeable, present without being intrusive and warm. The very(italics on very) French theme could easily seem inaccessible but it was intensively explained in a sharing(rather than condescending) way by our server. That was much appreciated. I can’t wait to come back for more charcuterie plate goodness and more of their wines! Maybe next time I’ll wear my white and blue striped shirt and wear red lipstick.

Le Caviste is amazing and right by my office. I can’t believe it took me so long to get here. They specialize in French wines, along with huge charcuterie boards filled with cured meats, rilletes, cheese, smoked fish, etc. Basically, the perfect place for post-work drinks and nibbles. Tons of bottles to choose from, and the employees are incredibly knowledgable. I plan on coming here on the regular!
