GROSSLY INCOMPETENT or PERSISTENTLY DISHONEST; either way, AVOID THIS BUSINESS. When our house was renovated in 2013, James’ Heating and More installed the new Rheem furnace and failed to add the filter! James’ Heating and More were either too incompetent to know a filter needed to be installed or didn’t want to do the work to add the filter. Upon servicing the unit a year after its installation (per the sticker placed on our furnace) James’ Heating and More yet again failed to notice that a filter had not been installed. Upon buying the house in 2015, my husband and I were not able to locate the filter for its annual replacement and we called Greenwood Heating to come out and help. Within 90 seconds of inspecting our furnace, our Greenwood technician found that THE FILTER WAS NEVER INSTALLED! I don’t know which is worse in terms of business practices but either way, I would recommend avoiding this business!

Today I called and spoke with Elizabeth about my furnace. Since they are booked thru next week she kindly walked me thru several steps to take on my own with the furnace… they worked! She also gave me several other local business names in case i needed service immediately. After the busy holiday season I’ll be calling back to schedule a tune up. Thanks SO much! You went above and beyond.

Our furnace is old (1950ish). Possibly one of the oldest, biggest, most modified, in-​efficient furnaces left in West Seattle but it runs as well as it can thanks to James. He just came out to service our furnace as it was running noisily and short-​cycling. He is professional, courteous and actually explains what he is doing so you understand what is happening. He cares about the service he provides and the job he is doing. I so appreciate him and his office staff. I know we could do with a new furnace but he doesn’t judge. When we do go down that road, he will be who I call.

James had installed several furnaces for me and worked on several water heaters. It’s probably been around 6 years I’ve known of their company. He is knowledgable and can fix a lot of different heating issues. I also have him do any regular maintenance and tune-​up work on furnaces and water heaters.
I would highly recommend him. And good chance he’ll quote you a better price than anyone else too.

James was great! Found him to be very reasonable price wise, fair, honest. Was able to make it out same day as called (isn’t that always the case with a heater having issues?). 5 Stars!

My wife and I bought our house a couple of months ago. Everything was great until, without thinking about it turn the shower on and jump in. Wow! Jump right out because the water is as cold as Elliott bay. Thank goodness James was a couple houses away literally! We called the next day and within hours he was ready to assess the situation and come to find out we had a couple of bad elements and a bad thermostat. He found the parts, replaced them and thank goodness we have hot water again. He saved us a ton of money and is a true professional. We will call on him again without a doubt. Any water heater problems you have James will fix it!

I was referred to James’ Heating to help me reconfigure my furnace and gas lines in my house by a local Ballard company. I called and spoke with Elizabeth who was very cordial in helping me set up an appointment. On the appt. day when I had to re-​schedule she and I worked out a way to make sure James wasn’t stuck in traffic heading back to west Seattle the following day (how considerate of us). All was going along nicely, very impressed and looking forward to working with the family.
Unfortunately the day of the appt. I was stuck in a meeting with a customer of my own and was behind schedule. Fortunately our long-​term friend and house cleaner was there to let him know that I was behind schedule and would be en route. However, when I connected with her to relay the message she informed me that not only was James difficult, moody and irritable, he didn’t wait more than 10 minutes.
I understand how important punctuality is, however I too was helping a customer that day and could have used some reciprocal grace I had extended to my customer.
Where’s the love James? And please be nice to people… even if they are not scheduled to give you money. It might pay forward a little.
My experience was meh, not super cool and would not hire.

James Heating and More is a great company. I love them. They are reliable, have the best service, have affordable prices, and very knowledgeable.

I’ve been calling on James for my heating needs for more than 8 years/​2 houses. He (and his wife back at the office) give you the personal, expert attention you always hope for, but rarely get. He does a great job at a reasonable price.

I haven’t even had service yet and I’m super happy! I called in a panic because something on my furnace had been running for hours on end & with a baby in the house I was super concerned about it breaking. Elisabeth, talked me down and gave me something I could try to do myself while she contacted James and called me back. When she called me back less than an hour later, the problem seemed to be better and she said she would keep in touch. When the cold snap is over I will most definitely be scheduling a maintenance service!!!

One of the best services I have received. My furnace went out On Sunday afternoon and I had called Beacon Heating company. They told me a whole bunch of things that are wrong with my Furnace and i need to purchase a brand new Furnace. I decided to get a second opinion and found James Heating. He was able to come right away on Monday. Take a look and realized only the transformer was out and fixed it and i had heat within less than hour. He did an amazing job and real fast as well. Saved me over 4000 $. He gives you what you need rather than try to sell you other non-​sense products. Job well done. I highly recommend James Heating. You wont be disappointed.

James was so AWESOME that I created a log in just to write this review! We are first time homeowners that decided to get out furnace serviced just to be on the safe side. He amazing! Very helpful, informative, and honest. He commented on other little things we should do as he went along and answered all of my (dumb, ignorant) new home owner questions.
It is a husband and wife business and his wife was very helpful on the phone. I can’t believe my amazing luck to find them at the beginning of my home owner experience!

James installed my furnace four years ago when I bought my house. He did a great job, was really informative, and squeezed a big furnace down a small basement staircase. His wife was great to talk to over the phone. It was an overall pleasurable experience.
Tonight I needed to turn off the pilot light on my furnace and knew if I called, I’d get the same personable, friendly service. Elizabeth answered the phone at 8:30pm and answered all of my questions. She even warned me to turn off the pilot light on the hot water tank. (I’m setting flea bombs and pilot lights have to be turned off.)
This couple is wonder to work with. I highly recommend their services.
