I was a devoted Island customer. They have a decent selection and a fairly knowledgeable staff. But they are bitterly defensive! If you have a problem with your disc, as one will sometimes, they interrogate you. I have never complained to them, even though many of my Island(not Netflix) discs have skipped or stopped in the past. I brought in a film tonight that had skipped all the way through… even though we were trouble-shooting, etc. Gracious customer service would suggest that good customers are to be valued… and believed. Instead, they put me on the spot and pressed me for specifics about when in the film it happened and actually put it on, made me wait to find the scenes that skipped. No refund, no apology. I wanted to support this independent video store, but I won’t go back. Too bad — it’s in my neighborhood, and we like movies A LOT.
