Amazing cinnamon rolls and good stumptown coffee. The feeling of the place is really nice too. Good to place to sit and relax.

I had an average iced mocha and a scone. All the baked goods had too much dry topping! Even the peanut butter cookies had sugar sitting in a pile on top! Didn’t care for the art but the staff was friendly. Ok but wouldn’t return.

For two drinks, $ 10.58 Not fancy drinks either, and really not that great. So, there’s that. The atmosphere is nice, quiet, a good place to study, if a bit uncomfortable on the wood benches(although quite roomy). The guy making the coffees was nice, so no points lost for customer service. I won’t be back for the coffee, but I’d still love to try some of their baked goods, which seem to get a lot of good reviews. Overall, overpriced.

I went in for a coffee this morning. I brought in my paper cup from my earlier morning coffee from a different coffee shop. The unfriendly guy behind the counter(he didn’t even say hello) proceeded to tell me that the cup I brought in wasn’t a cup and I couldn’t get a refill in it. I could of course buy a cup of coffee from them at regular price. It’s not about the cost between a regular cup of coffee and a refill but how he said it. If you are looking for unfriendly staff who wear almost exclusively black or dingy white clothes, sad depressing music, mediocre coffee and so-so pastries then this place is for you. I’ve been there a few times to give the place a chance… I won’t be going back. There are plenty of coffee shops in town.

Irwin’s is overpriced and not very cozy. I have tried it three times now, and have been underwhelmed each time. My two main complaints are that they serve pre-made sandwiches and do not have free coffee refills. Having to charge my card 50 cents for a coffee refill(when the original was nearly $ 3 for a 12 oz.) is not welcoming. I also am not sure why Unilocal lists Irwin’s as one dollar sign, it would be impossible to get a sandwich and drink for under $ 11 here. Go to Café Lulu across the street and up the hill, better deal by far — much cozier, with free refills!

Very pungent café. Be warned — if you stay here for 2 hours, you’ll smell like a deli for the next 18. Drip stumptown was delicious! If you want skim for your coffee, ask the lady behind the counter for it. 50cents for a refill. Friend got a lemon scone which was good — I could see little bits of lemon zest in there. I got the basil and tomato whole wheat biscuit. I don’t know if «biscuit» is the right word as it looked /tasted more like an english muffin. «Biscuit» had sprinkled basil and cheese on top and melted inside was tomato, basil, and mozzarella. I think the gentleman working there microwaved it to heat it up BUT it wasn’t heated thoroughly so a bit cold in the middle. Tasty enough!

Delightful little café. Really does have that specific neighborhood feel — they have treats by the cash register for your dog. This means there is almost always a dog tied up outside to play with. This place offers pastries/cookies and sandwiches(various bread options including bagel) as well as the traditional morning liquid fair. They even have vegan and vegetarian food options which is pretty cute. The only problem is that I think all of their sandwiches are pre-made so they can grill them for you but, for some reason, they cannot make extra sandwiches. When they are out, they are out. Maybe it’s so they cut down on waste? I am a big fan of their sandwiches — the vegetarian is my favorite. The coffee and tea is very good for a small, private, café but not in the Seattle elite category. I’ve never seen this place overly busy even though I’d say that there is only seating for 20. I have never had an experience with a staffer that wasn’t endearing. Last visit I walked to the door and told the ladies working to have a good day, when they told me the same I replied that«I’d try» and one girl said, «Don’t try. Do» Adorable.

I read all the rave reviews and requested to come here for a business lunch. We ordered food but no coffee or desserts so this review is based on the entrees only and not baked goods. It seems like folks in the area come here and cozy up with their laptops and books for a nice getaway. Staff is friendly and ambiance is eclectic. We each ordered the veggie quiche that was heated up in the microwave so the top crust came out soft and the bottom crust was soggy. The temp of the quiche was warm in some areas and cold in some other spots. I imagine that it was pretty good coming out of the oven freshly baked and I hope that management sees this and puts the quiche in the oven to reheat vs microwave. Quiche comes with garnish salad and vinaigrette dressing. I also got the tomato basil soup which was decent, like a friends mom making it at home and offering me some. It was homemade but there were lots of canned tomato chunks in the soup and was seasoned with dry herbs. Nothing fancy. I would try a pastry or coffee but wont stay long next time because I took the stench of a fryer home with me that lasted for a few hours.

This place is not as cozy as some of the other coffee shops I like. Not a big fan of the wood benches and windows that get foggy in the winter with no trim. I had a chai tea which was an insane $ 4.50 for 12 oz and… well, my Trader Joe’s chai is better. With that said, they have WiFi, a nice staff and it’s in a cute neighborhood so its alright.

Great coffee and interesting revolving art compliment the highlight: aMAHzing pastries. The cherry orange walnut scone is as advertised«complex and delicious». The savories are awesome as well which I don’t think there’s nearly enough of in the breakfast world. I’m a big fan of the feta herb muffin, yum yum!

I just get the regular coffee of which they have a nice tasty selection. Refills are 50 cents. Music is impeccable! Many genres, decades, and languages and no matter what it sounds great. Nice windows. A little bit pricey, but my favorite coffee shop in Seattle.

*Excellent espresso beverages featuring Stumptown beans *Great, cozy, coffeehouse atmosphere with funky espresso art on the walls *Tasty food with a moderate selection *Only downside is that the pastry prices are a bit steep, but for the quality of locally sourced ingredients, I don’t mind paying a bit extra. I will definitely be back again

this place is adorable! They play interesting romantic music for an early morning on a weekend and has a neat fireplace along mint green benches! I love the drip selection and free wifi(hence my sporadic Unilocal review right now) today’s choice’s are stumptown hollier mountain blend, a date/dark chocolate blend(which I mixed with the stumptown), and a peruvian which I had a cup by itself. The breakfast selection is limited so it’s more for just pastries and quick savory treats. I had the tomato basil whole grain mini sandwich which was just right for my busy morning. Great place to bring your laptop and free street parking!

Irwin’s Neighborhood Bakery & Café is a fabulous spot with a big commitment to the environment, community, and the food they serve. The bakery uses free range eggs, locally sourced ingredients, RBST free dairy for their scrumptious pies, muffins, scones, and cookies. I always choose Irwin’s for preservative free baked goods for my morning business meetings or a lazy weekend morning. They partner with local vendors in the City that share their same ideals for the goods they don’t make themselves. One of them, that happens to be my favorite coffee roaster, Stumptown Coffee, is served in a mug if we want to hang out by the fire or compostable container if I am on-the-go. All 3 locations collect donations for local food banks, as well as supporting local charities and auctions. If that isn’t enough, each cozy Irwin’s is decorated in art from local artists that need a home to display their pieces.

It started out with a sweet and slow drive-by infatuation when I saw what appeared to be wide-line Sharpie and goache drawings on the brown butcher paper taped to the windows as Irwin’s started setting out shop. Then they opened, and I even forgave them for removing the drawings, because they distracted me… with…those…those cookies. Toffee crunch cookie deliciousness, Stumptown coffee, and an expansive glacial-cyan-colored space in which to linger and enjoy them-all in a neighborhood that gravely lacked a spot like this add up to a grateful French kiss to Irwin’s for lighting down only about 300 footsteps from our house(or 900 total when my boys are with me). Also major props for being open late and embracing the summer evening light, when Seattle avails us of it, with large windows and a farmhouse feel in the summer gloaming. Be prepared for occasionally slow(sometimes very slow!) service. Since I usually am just getting something right off the shelf(so far I’ve dug only on the aforementioned toffee cookies), it sometimes feels a little longish to deal with a 10-minute wait for one(possibly complicated? Possibly not) order in front of me to resolve itself just to get at the grab-n-go-snackable pouch of lovin’ that is that chewy, perfect cookie. But it’s no big thing. Just swing by when you’re unhurried.

I am in so much love with Irwin’s. I almost didn’t want to write this review, because I don’t want people knowing about it and crowding it up. As it is right now, you rarely need to wait in line, there’s always a spot to sit, and it’s spacious and calm. It’s such a welcome change from the ever-packed Starbucks, or the too-tiny Café Lulu. They have more pastries available than you can even imagine, they serve Stumptown coffee(YUM), and they’re open from 6am until 10pm. There are a couple of downsides — the service can at times be frustratingly slow. I’ve been there twice where the cashier was also the barista, while 3 people worked in the back. They take their time with your espresso, which is good, but also time consuming, so don’t run in here if you’re running late. Also, there are no prices on their pastries. The last time I was there, I got a 12oz latte and a muffin and it was $ 8.50 — both were delicious, so I’m willing to pay that from time to time, but just be prepared. I have yet to try any of their sandwiches or savory items, but I can vouch that their coffee and pastries are outstanding. Like a previous poster said, try their pumpkin walnut muffin — it’s so soft and flavorful, really really good. The service is extremely friendly, they have a punch card for coffee drinks, and they offer little doggy treats for your dog. It’s definitely a fast favorite for me.

So I don’t want to come off like a Bieber fan on Twitter, but when I saw this place was open, I let out an audible«squee.» I may have to open an @Irwinsfanomglol Twitter account. Before this place debuted there was a pet groomer in the space that used to bathe and trim my dog. Then a car ran into the building. It never opened up again. It was replaced by Irwin’s — a coffee shop and bakery open until 10pm, serving bagels, cookies, pies and other food that I’ll probably never eat. They use Stumptown coffee, have free WiFi, a fireplace, and what looks like plenty of seating. This place is everything I have ever wanted in a local coffee joint. Since I work freelance and enjoy a nifty terrible sleep schedule, this place has already become my new favorite place in Seattle, and I only found it last night at 9:45pm. There are about 3 coffee shops in the area that are good places to work and get coffee late and one of them smells like old vegetables, while the other has pretty much no seating. This place is all of that and a bag of chips. Literally. They sell chips. I will be coming here regularly from now on. #Awesome.
