Hot Dog King

Got a spicy Italian sausage with cream cheese and onions. I added Coney Island mustard which makes it all come together! Delish! Pay with cash and get a free soda.

Best hot dogs, period. I come here every Friday for lunch and it never disappoints. Always consistent quality, speed, and friendly service.
Food: they get their meats from an authentic bavarian meat place, so their dogs are top notch. I recommend the jalapeño cheddar half pound sausage if you’re hungry, otherwise the smoked braut is a classic. You can pick as many toppings as you want for no additional charge, and they have a lot to choose from. I always go with «the works.» Once you have your dog and your toppings, you have a huge variety of mustards to choose from. You will never be able to try all the possible combinations here, which keeps me coming back! Finally, chips and drink for a dollar is a fantastic deal. I read some of the other lower reviews and they just complained there wasn’t diet soda or bottled water. The owners clearly read their reviews because every time I’ve gone they always have both of those. Smart people :)
Speed: you may notice the line having 15+ people in it. I’ve never waited for than 10 – 15 minutes, even for the longest of lines. They are quick and attentive. Persevere through the line, it’s not bad and totally worth it!
Service: it’s a husband and wife team that is super friendly and personable. I’m always greeted with a smile. Even if they were mean I’d keep coming back because their hot dogs are too good, this is just icing on the cake!

Great hot dog cart. Not only was the food tally good but they were efficient while I stormed by Amazonians. Lots of options for meat & condiment combos. Gotta have diet soda to get a 5* reading though. I know, what’s the point of a 600 calorie hot dog and a diet soda but it’s my thing.

Sal runs the best Hot Dog cart in the PNW. Great selection of mustards and Dogs. And even will try new things… He had me try this dog in the picture and it blew me away. Its a Hotlink with cream cheese on one side and peanut butter on the other with cheese and tomatoes… Say what you want but it looks and taste the

Salvatore really knows his hot dogs and sausages, and this is coming from a girl grown up in Chicagoland on Chicago style hot dogs. The food is fantastic, and there’s a huge variety in toppings and in choice of sausages. My favorite is the jalapeño cheddar sausage. Come hungry too, because the portions are HUGE. This is a great husband and wife team, and it’s clear they love their business and appreciate their customers. They remember you and always have time to chat.

5 stars for sure. Reading though the 4 star reviews, I can never tell what the ding is. What more do you want? You get a hot meal, 20+ condiment options, drink, chips, friendly service, and all for a great price. I’ve been eating lunch in SLU for three years now, and I truly believe this is a must add to your list of «go to» places. Any other place and you’re waiting at least twice as long while paying twice the amount. Long live the king!

I go here almost everyday for lunch, the people that run it are awesome and super nice. The food is always great, with a great choice range of different dogs and toppings and sauces. Would recommend this place to anyone.

For $ 5, you get a hot dog (and soda) that doesn’t disappoint. Total hidden gem in SLU.

These guys know how to cook a hot dog! You can choose from classic, brat, hotlink, etc. I really enjoyed their bratwurst.

Who doesn’t love hot dogs, and these aren’t just any hot dogs they are from the king himself. Very delicious! The hot dog king gives out wonderful customer service and well the tasty tasty hot dogs. It isn’t far from where I work so its helpful when I know a great place with the right food, customer service and location. I Love it and you will too!
PS you can find him near the Triangle pub. You can see him at the sounders games and mariners games. I am sure he is there during the Seahawks games :)

Tasty dogs with lots of available toppings, including the biggest selection of mustards/​ketchups/​etc. that I’ve ever seen in a food truck!
Service is excellent, and the money guy and the cook both knew the names of the (barking, not hot) dogs that walked by! Cute.
It’s also worth the extra dollar for the can of soda and the chips; I only wish they also had bottled water as I’m not a big soda fan.

Cheap, friendly, fast and 100% noms. The specials are an even better deal and you can always customize your food so you get exactly what you want. Lots of choices. Plus, these guys are super entertaining.

Yes, this was the perfect lunch after an SAF tour of SLU. A sunny September day, a little ride on the streetcar, and a glorious hot dog. With big beautiful buns! The guys at HDK are my new best friends because they were so nice! When they handed me my all beef dog with cream cheese, onions, and cherry peppers, it was too beautiful to take it all in at once. I had to pause. And then reach for one of 40 mustards! Fully dressed, I brought the grilled masterpiece to my mouth, closed my eyes, and chomped. This dog isn’t messy! The BUN is ample, folks. And they nestle it in a pretty brown paper so you can easily clutch your prize. Plenty of flavor, hot, grilled and sublime!

This is a great place to grab a quick, inexpensive meal. He’s got tons of choices for everything — dogs, sauces, peppers, other condiments, chips, sodas… If you’re not sure what to get, go for either the daily special or weekly special; you can’t lose.
I definitely recommend it.

I’m no hot dog connoisseur, but I mighty enjoy the dogs I get from the King! Plump and juicy dogs, variety of mustards, ketchups and sauces, creative specials and cheap prices (for SLU)! Can’t go wrong with this place!

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked past this stand without even noticing it was there. But yesterday I stopped by after seeing the obscene line out the door and around the building at the local cheap sandwich shop. I was in a big hurry. Might as well grab a dog.
The proprietor (the owner?) was polite, efficient, and chatty. Took the edge off a nippy afternoon. I had the special (The Howlie Dog — Beef frank with grilled pineapple, cream cheese, grilled onions, and sweet chili sauce). A great buy for $ 6. It was a bit too messy to eat and the wrapper got soggy enough to allow the stuff to drip through. Hence the 4 and not 5 stars. But I’m definitely going back — gotta get me a hot link (my fave) next go-​round.
Cheap, fast, and good service. Can you expect more from a cart on the sidewalk?

If you looking for a hot dog to eat in south lake union. This is good for the money. For $ 5 you get a hot dog, chips and a coke.
