Hardware took me in where every other salon I had reached out to was booked, and were very friendly(like I had been going there for years). They had me in the chair in under 30 minutes to see about my sad, thin, and neglected(borderline) mullet. Blane took excellent care of me, I came in for a trim not really knowing what to do with it. He made a few suggestions on what he thought would work best for my rather difficult hair type before I told him what I was after, and that I trusted his judgement. Turned out fabulous, and he gave some great tips on how to manage it Thanks so much, you lovely artisans of head fur you can bet I’ll be back!

I can’t say the same for all the stylists here, but the stylist I had seemed to have zero knowledge of how to work with curly/wavy hair textures. He started my cut by brushing through my hair, starting at the top and literally breaking my hair and tugging at my scalp as he went to the bottom. I asked why he was breaking it and he said he had clients earlier in the day who told him to not be so gentle. I didnt say anything then, but i was thinking«wtf that was an entirely different person who was insisting you damage their hair, my hair is wavy/curly and coloured so it needs to be treated nicer». Instead I politely told him that hair that is my texture needs to be combed starting at the bottom to work through tangles that form easier. He was a little gentler, but didnt really seem to take my advice to heart. When he got to the cut, he didnt really ask me for much direction other than how much I wanted off. I mentioned I wanted more layers, but he didnt ask how long/thick I wanted my layers. Instead, he told me that my bangs came into the rest of my hair too bluntly, so he was going to add layers to help that. These layers are only slightly longer than my bangs and extremely thinned out compared to the rest of my thick hair. He didnt really add much more in the way of layers to help make these short ones less noticeable. The result has a weird texture and doesn’t translate well to my hair that can be anywhere from wavy to curly depending on humidity. Speaking of texture, not only is the top much too light compared to the body and back of my hair, but the sides feel and look uneven compared to eachother. The length seems uneven too. Overall pretty displeased I called to let them know about all this and was offered an appointment to fix it with another stylist. I ended up not wanting to go in after being disappointed so greatly the first go around. Its unfortunate. I liked the location and the salon itself, I just wish they would be more curly friendly.

Jessica is simply an awesome hair stylist. It’s very easy to make an appointment and she runs very close to on time. I’ve been getting my hair cut here for a few years and it’s the best I’ve ever experienced. The prices are great also.

I absolutely love coming here to let Ingrid cut/color my hair. She is a life saver! I came in today to get a botched blonde ombré fixed and go back to being a brunette and she saved my life! You can’t even tell I had any blonde at all. To make things even better, my hair is not damaged whatsoever. I’ve had my hair cut by Ingrid in the past and she has always done a fabulous job, so this was just the icing on the cake! I’m seriously coming back for all my hair needs! I highly recommend Ingrid!

I went it for another haircut. EVENBETTERTHANTHELAST. Again, I have little to no idea what I’m doing when it comes to haircuts, and I think as part of becoming an adult that I should admit my shortcomings and find those who know their shit and I give them my $. Ingrid knows that shit and she knows it better than I. Anyway, I work at a place with a large staff and I just keep getting compliments left, right, and center, even two weeks after my haircut. I feel like queen of the world. I got a shorter cut than last time ’cause it sounded like a good idea and guess what, ITIS. Oh so good.

They took our reservation right away and accepted me 20 minutes early. She cut my hair really well even though I didn’t have much direction besides to cut off an inch and make sure my widow’s peak doesn’t show and make me look balding. Would recommend.

Jessica is a wonderful stylist. She did a great job fixing some brassy highlights and giving my hair a much better cut. With prices being so reasonable, I may actually be able to get my hair done more frequently and try out some more interesting styles!

Have gotten my hair cut here four times. Staff have always been friendly and I’ve had no problem making appointments on short notice. Disclosure: I did ask for any stylist with the availability I needed when I should have returned to the same stylist. The first(John) was the best. All scissors, lots of attention to detail. The second(Victor) was great too. The third was ok. And the most recent was a bad haircut. It took no more than 15 minutes from start to finish. Didn’t ask how I wanted my sideburns, taped or square in the back, didn’t use the mirror to show the results in the back, didn’t offer to apply product. Not much attention to detail, minimal blending, and frankly… how good can it be in 15 minutes or less? $ 29 is a decent mid-range salon price for a men’s haircut(without wash) in Capitol Hill, but your experience may vary dramatically by stylist.

I called on my way and they had an appointment time in 40 minutes. Parking isn’t fun for that part of cap hill but I still managed to find a spot 3 blocks away that was free.(Middle of the day on a Tuesday) I forgot the name of the guy who cut my hair but he performs in the drag show at Julia’s! He did a great job and spent a lot of time making sure my hair looked great. The salon is lacking on ambiance, and the chair is was in tilted to one side. He said they were waiting for new chairs to be installed though. They also didn’t wash my hair. But hey the haircuts are cheap! In the end for only $ 34 I got a great cut, better than more expensive places have done in the past. I will be back!

Awesome neighborhood spot for a cut that always delivers. Ingrid is my gal. Don’t come too often because I’m lazy but every time I do I leave feeling fly. She’s super nice too and the whole place has a really unique vibe that fits the hill.

This is a great salon. They have lots of availability, reasonably priced and experienced stylists. Also, they do dry cuts which is a dream come true for someone with a lot of hair.

If you have thick, curly hair like I do, go here and see Jackson. He gave me a new style, and took lots of time to try the right techniques to make my curls pop out. He was friendly and professional, and expressed a real love for what he does. I’ve never had a stylist do so much checking in while they’re working about what sort of style I want, or so much explaining about what they’re doing and why. Jackson isn’t a chatterbox though, and I was the one initiating most of the conversation. I like this, since sometimes I just want to relax. It was easy to relax with Jackson. He’s got a really gentle touch. I wanted to just sit there all day! I love how simple and laid back this place is. I used to live in a suburb where the only salon choices were high-priced spas, so it’s especially nice to find somewhere that’s professional but uncomplicated. I felt almost bad when I got the bill — seemed like all that care and attention should have cost more than $ 34(before tip). I also appreciated that while there are some products for sale, no one pushed me to buy anything. Jackson even gave me suggestions for the kinds of products that might work well for my hair without turning it into a sales pitch. My partner has been here twice. He’s usually a drop-in-and-get-whoever-I-get sort of guy, but he actually made an appointment the second time so he could see the same person(don’t remember which stylist that was). So yes, if you’re looking for an unfussy place with talented, friendly stylists, check this place out.

THISPLACEISSUPERUNDERRATED!!! Last week, I went to get my haircut at some salon down on Rainier and she totally messed up my haircut. Instead of face palming myself a whole bunch of times before going to the club, I actually found this place last minute and had my hair fixed. FIXED! I wish I got her name, but she did the best job I’ve ever seen. She listened to everything that I had to say and wanted. She was the best. I honestly am going to back to her the next time I need something. THEBEST!

Had an appointment with Victor last week and I’m super happy with the result. Did a big chop of all my hair. He was quick and efficient with the cut. He was also really chill. My biggest thing with going to a salon is the chat that you seem to be expected to bring. And I’m usually more interested in seeing what is going on with my hair than talking. I enjoyed that he wasn’t super chatty. He just got down to business and it was a lot quicker than I anticipated. I will definitely see Victor again in the future. You can’t beat a stylist who listens to what you want, delivers and does it for a super reasonable price.

Jessica is amazing! Only stylist I trust my blonde locks to! She is super easy to talk to. We spend the whole time gossiping! I always look forward to getting my hair done! The salon gets super hot on sunny days. But they do offer water which is nice.

I was taking a leisurely stroll down Broadway about three years ago and stumbled upon Hardware Salon. In desperate need of a haircut but fearful of another stylist who was«confident» in cutting Asian hair I took a chance and walked in. Out came Jessica, who, unbeknownst to me was going to be an integral part of my hair and life for the next three years. I cautiously asked, «Do you know how to cut Asian hair?» and received a definite, «yes». What happened after that is really just history, a history of fantastic and reliable haircuts, catching up on gossip, and many many friend referrals who are now loyal to the talented hands belonging to my girl Jessica. Jessica understands my hair, how it works, and how to make me look exactly how I’ve wanted but never knew I could look. I live in Portland now and don’t always get the chance to get my haircut by Jessica, which sucks because we usually catch up on all the happenings of our lives. But I do make a conscious effort to visit Seattle, mostly to see friends but to also get my haircut by Jessica(who is amongst those friends). She is THAT good, seriously.

I love me some Victor! I have lived in Seattle for 9 years and have found stylists that give me a good cuts the first few times then get lazy. I have been seeing Victor for a little over 6 months for cuts about every 3 weeks. I ALWAYS get a great cut! My friends with short hair and also long hair are now sold on him as well. I will cry if he ever moves away. If you have short hair and want the best fade of your life go see this man. If you have long hair and the unquenchable desire to have hot sexy hair go see this man :) Thanks and Good Talk! BONUS: He is also adorable!

Back story: My hair was so messed up after I let a friend dye it. She is an actual stylist, but used me as practice for the«ombré» look. My hair is naturally brown and wavy. She added blonde to the bottom portion of it, and it ended up looking like 6 inches of unattended grow out with severe damage to the ends. My fiancé and I tried to fix it by buying some brown box dye, which made it even more damaged and an uneven color throughout all of it. We found this place by convenience; only a couple blocks from our apartment. Victor is a stylist there, and he took on the challenge to fix it. He dyed it a beautiful chocolate brown, and cut it with beautiful layers.(The best layers I’ve ever had) He managed to salvage it, and I ended up with more length than what I imagine was going to have to be taken. He was super nice, and loves cutting women’s hair. The overall environment in there was fun, relaxing, and cheerful. I will most definitely be going back to him.
