I started with a personal session to get my feet wet and then took an introductory class for a month and really could feel my spine elongate and my posture improve. I’ve now taken some personal sessions on and off over the past year and can always feel the improvement when I stay with it. I feel a good inch taller! I’m hoping to stick with it more and this studio is great and has very knowledgeable and caring trainers. It is also a very serene environment for exercising and letting go of all the stress of work.

I recently did a few months of Gyrotonic training at this studio. It was my introduction to the Gyrotonic movement form, so I cannot compare this to other Gyro studios. I will say that my partner has been training here for a while, and seems to like it just fine. She has trained at a few different studios, and is a fitness professional. My training sessions were with Natasha, and consisted of 1.5 hour personal sessions using the tower, and other related equipment. I found the quality of the instruction I received to be top-notch. Natasha was clear, patient, warm, and knowledgeable. Although the details of my fitness plan were not shared with me, it was obvious there was a progression, and also obvious that Natasha was paying specific attention to my body and how Gyro could help me move better. She was happy to explain again and again each exercise, and come up with new ways of visualizing the movement that would stick with me. At the end of each session I felt very calm, but energized. The focus required to practice Gryo feels like it induces a meditative-like effect. At the end of each session, I felt lighter and taller than when I walked in. I believe that these feelings are common when practicing Gyro. The studio is in one room of the Meridian School in Wallingford. It’s a beautiful space, with warm wood floors, high windows and beautiful photography. My only knock against this studio is the lack of changing space, other than the bathrooms, which have no benches. It can also feel a little crowded when all the towers are in use and there’s an additional class in session. Not related to the studio per se, but walking through the school grounds to the bus stop on Meridian at night feels less than safe because of poor lighting.
