This is the third time I have been here and it gets better and better every time. I enjoyed the seafood risotto and was blown away. Muscles, clams and pork belly in a beautiful broth was to die for. I love this place and will continue to come back.

Like others have said, we went here for brunch when the restaurant was not at all crowded. We waited a very long time for our food. Although the food was very flavorful, it was extremely fatty, which made everything we ate very heavy. My friend and I didn’t feel well for hours after our meal. Maybe my stomach is weak but I won’t be going back.

Came here on a Wednesday night at 8p. Place wasn’t busy but had folks at tables. Sat down and waited for service for over 10 minutes. The tables on either side of us had people seated, they had food and the server checked in them all while we waited. Finally left after not getting any service. Menu wasn’t super appealing but we wanted to give it a try. Won’t be coming back. Ambiance was nice and it was warm.

5 stars for food, 3 for service. We went here for brunch, and the food was fantastic. What wasn’t fantastic was the 20 minute wait time to order and 40 minute wait time for the food after we got seated. The place wasn’t busy at all(four tables of people), which is why I’m stuck on the wait time so much. If they’d have been busy I wouldn’t have been so annoyed. Our table the biscuit and gravy with lamb gravy, the farmers breakfast with bacon, and the burger from the brunch menu. Additionally we ordered the rhubarb and ricotta pastry with walnuts and pear. Everything tastes absolutely amazing, and we will definitely be back, but next time I’ll eat a snack before we go.

Fantastic birthday dinner tonight here. The mood is elegant but relaxed, Seattle style. We were dressed up and did not feel out of place, but people in fashionable casual were also in evidence. I guess uncovered but gorgeous wooden tables are like that. Like all Maria Hines restaurants, this place uses mostly organic ingredients and is in the Chinook book. Just reading the names of their clever cocktails was fun enough, but tasting the«Botched Brazilian Botany» was heavenly. Balanced, tantalizing, not too strong. Best use of allspice I’ve tasted in a long time. Hubby had a Spanish wine that tasted like Spanish wine. Good if you like that sort of thing. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu — 3 courses for $ 30. Portions were small, but that allowed us to get through all 3 courses without feeling like a coma was impending. I had the fried haloumi, the chicken kabob and the chocolate mousse and was very pleased indeed. Hubby got carrot soup(which was lovely), a pork dish that was only OK for him, and a milk pudding that had an odd rhubarb compote in which the rhubarb didn’t seem all that cooked — isn’t uncooked rhubarb a no-no? The service was quick, competent, and friendly. We had a great time and I’d love to go back. Thanks, Maria Hines!

Food was good, tasty. Overall though — the interior just felt shabby, unkempt. Seriously — if your going to serve small portions at higher prices… please clean your bathrooms at least.

Overpriced small portions. Would not recommend for dinner or a date. Lunch is ok. Servers are very polite but food is not impressive at all. Glass wine portions are smaller than at usual restaurants.

I feel like they are hit or miss. Their muhammara, hummus, other dips, and pita chips are scrumptious. The gyro I had had so much wetness in it, the pita was soggy when I ate it. I picked it up right up and started when it was served so I hadn’t let it sit. They could offer refills on iced tea. We got checked on but refills were not offered. I asked for the first refill and didn’t bother asking for another. I think it’s nice when restaurants offer refills, especially when they’re already checking on you. They could use a changing table in the restroom. Overall, it was fine. I love that they have a parking lot but it will probably be awhile till I’m back. The restaurant is beautiful and I really enjoy the atmosphere and décor.

I really enjoyed my meal here. Its a nice casual, higher quality food Mediterranean restaurant. We started off with the sampler trio, The bread and all 3 sauces were A+ excellent. I had the build your own mac and cheese which is a Monday thing only(should be week around!) and it was some of the best Mac and cheese I have had(I’ve tried it at El goucho, The Met, Beechers you name it, this place was the top). My friends got the burger and the meatballs, all A quality stuff. We had 3 desserts, a sunday, a cake and the donuts. The donuts were good, but nothing rave the cake was a good unique dessert and the sunday was divine. This is a good reasonable prices restaurant, I will defiantly be back.

Too expensive for what you get. Very small cod plate with tasteless couscous. Service was meh. Kinda oblivious waitress. I used to really like this place but there’s many places to choose from, go elsewhere.

Excellent food, but expensive. Portions were a bit small, but we didn’t leave hungry. Service was on the slow side, but we didn’t have anywhere to be since it was just dinner. Great treat.

I can only vouch for the experience I had at Golden Beetle. Unfortunately, my strict Cancer killing diet limits my ability to eat at practically every dining establishment around. However, I took the opportunity of joining some friends for dinner for the social aspect of «going out to eat.» Knowing all well that I was not going to be able to eat anything. I couldn’t believe the lengths our server went to, to try to come up with dishes for me to enjoy. I explained to him everything I wasn’t able to eat(no dairy, sugar, gluten, etc). He graciously offered to chat with the chef and they managed to pull together a couple of extremely tasty food options for me to eat. He even offered me a complementary green tea. Sadly, I do not recall the name of my server. He truly deserves to be acknowledged for his above and beyond service. One thing I can say is that my dinner companions raved about the gluten free dishes on the menu. Said they were so delicious and would definitely plan on returning. Me too!!! Thanks, Golden Beetle for making this tough time in my life a little easier. Even if it was for just a couple hours! Very, Very Appreciative!!!

Went here for my wife and my anniversary dinner. The staff pulled out A+ service, awesome food(the black cod and halumi were especially impressive) and tasty drinks. The appetizers of a trio of pita dips was a great intro. My vegetarian stew was far better than i could have hoped for(especially when I’m not usually a vegetarian food aficionado). And the beet hummus was surprisingly delicious, even though i normally loath the vegetables earthy taste. All round great place, prompt, friendly and tasty dishes. Highly recommended for any foodie, or fan of great service.

Came during happy hour right as the restaurant opened at 4:30PM and stayed until 8:30PM for dinner so I got a good sampling of drinks and appetizers and small plates. It’s in a strip mall next to a Fedex Kinko’s but inside it’s decent and a nice place to sit. Service: Our server was attentive but she was serving quite a few tables as it started filling up, and so service was a bit patchy. I went a full 15 – 20 minutes with no drink, before she came by to ask if I wanted another one.(I did!) Drinks: Charmoula Cocktail($ 8) was citrusy and tangy and well made. Rosemary margarita($ 7) wasn’t the best I’ve had but decent. There is a decent selection of beers and wines too, beers typically $ 5 – 7. Food: We also ordered the happy hour special appetizers, olives($ 4), mini squash pizza($ 7), Spiced Fries(with beef fat) $ 5. The fries were delicious, pizza was ok, crust was thin and well done. For dinner we ordered the trio of dips with pita bread($ 12) which was delicious. It’s a nice place to come for a drink with nice appetizers that are a little different from chicken wings and sliders! They do have a burger on the happy hour menu, maybe I will try that next time. 3 stars for the overall experience. Food 3.5÷5, Service 3/5, Ambience/Décor/Cleanliness 3/5, Value 3⁄5.

We love to come her during happy hour for a drink and appetizers. In particular the french fries cooked in beef-fat are our of this world! My wife has always enjoyed the cocktails she orders, although I find the beer selection a little spartan. The biggest thing Golden Beetle does well is cater to allergies and dietary restrictions! They have a very good gluten-free menu and easily can accommodate dairy allergies as well. The menu is interesting and flavorful. We are never disappointed when we visit.

We’ve walked by so many times since we’ve lived down the street. Last night, we took the plunge. Unfortunate, really. This place is… terrible. It occurred to me that most of the staff(with the exception of our waiter) might actually be pot-smoking sloths in disguise. Sober humans do not operate/move as slowly as these people. It must take so much effort to be that damn blasé. Walked in w/hubby at 8:10 on a Thursday evening. Got seated, ordered the burger, meatballs, cucumber soup. There were about 4 other tables with people at them(so, nearly empty). Took almost ANHOUR to get our food. I get it when a place is slammed, and the food is wonderful. I wait that long(and much longer) often around Ballard. But when it’s almost empty and the food is average AND overpriced? No thanks. Two stars instead of 1 because our waiter was ridiculously kind(though he got my order wrong – and hell no you’re not taking that back to the kitchen so I can wait another hour for my food), and the fries were perfect. But I think the kitchen spent 20 minutes just plating the meatballs. They were so over-fusssed-with – especially for how mediocre they tasted. No amount of plum purée and fancy spoon art makes average, overpriced food worth an hour’s wait. TLDR: just… nope.

Keywords to describe this place: «Pretentious,» «Expensive,» and«Uninspiring.» Let me start off by saying the person who greets you at the door should be warm and welcoming. No, it’s the exact opposite. The man at the front was a complete snob and eventually sat us down in the corner by a group of obnoxious guest who were talking about worms and spiders, Thanks, but no thanks. Our food was unpalatable. I ordered the lamb pizza, my fiancé ordered the chickpea and lemongrass stew. Those were bad mistakes. The two entrees were unappetizing. The flavor components don’t work. If they think this is fine dining, they have it completely wrong. This place left a sour note on my palate and I will never pay a visit or waste my money on food that is complete garbage. This is by far the worst Mediterranean cuisine in Seattle.

Interesting place. They have beef fat in their deep fryer and don’t use commercial french fries. This is a good thing when you are avoiding«Generic Vegetable Oil» which can cause allergy flare-ups in some people. Most things are made in-house which also allows you to know exactly what they are serving you. The cocktails we had were also quite tasty. So tasty infact, we had to try several to make sure we knew which one was our favorite. The bartender who waited on us was quite informative and helpful. He did seem to get a bit annoyed with me by the end of our meal, but I can’t really blame him… It is just something I remember. We enjoyed ourselves. The size of the bill at the end was a surprise. Would I go back and suggest other people go there? Yes. I might suggest it be part of a bar crawl throughout the Old Ballard neighborhood. Try a couple of small plates and cocktails. That will be enjoyable.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. It took 2.5 hours from sitting down to leaving the restaurant, and that’s not because they were serving a 4 course meal. Nor were they busy. Our food was overcooked/burnt and the waiter didn’t even care when it was brought up to him. He double billed our ticket and when asked about it, he replied, «I guess I can fix it if you need.» Beyond the waiter being terrible, the food just wasn’t good. Flavors were weak, burnt bacon, burnt hash, overcooked poached eggs. I’d stay away from this place if I were you. Never returning.

So I had to visit for dinner because the brunch was worth it and so good. Let me tell you that you have to be into Mediterranean food to appreciate this place. Baba Ghanoush– really good– can be used as a starter and eaten through out the night. It comes with flat bread(I do wish they had mentioned that as we also got the Wood Fired Flat bread) Wood Fired Flat Bread– yummy. If you order one of the dips do not get this as it will be too much bread Carmalized Brussel Sprouts– delicious and you can taste the spices just the way I like it Braised Short Rib– jasmine rice, pomegranate molasses, kale– out of this world good– highlight of the night My husband and I shared all of the above plates so I recommend doing that if it’s your first time there so you can sample a few items. Def. get a dip and I would substitute the Wood Fired Flat Bread option for another small plate option. The prices are very reasonable and you end of leaving happy and full
