This makes me so so so sad to say because I have been a huge fan of Mr. Gyros for quite some time. For several years, Johnny and his team have taken excellent care of us with wonderful food, service, and conversation and I wish I’d written a review before the changes were made to the shop. This used to be one of my favorite joints and would eat here regularly about once a week. However, after the remodel some time ago, a new crew was brought on and Mr. Gyros just isn’t the same. Both the quality of service and quality of the food have diminished and even more importantly, I no longer walk in and see the familiar, smiling faces behind the counter(who already know our orders!) — but only food service workers doing their jobs just as they’re trained. Mr. Gyros no longer feels like home. :(

I love the Greek food here. The place has a slight hole in the wall feel but to be honest, that’s where some of the best food comes from people! Their dolamades are awesome and tzaziki(I think I spelled that incorrectly) is delicious as well. I ordered the lamb gyro and hummus as well as falafel. So a gyro, hummus, dolamades and falafel all for the price of 23 bucks. That’s killer! I didn’t care much for the side of the falafel but everything else was pretty bomb. I would recommend for a quick bite on the go or something to order out for home. Delicious!

Good service, but the food prep and plating method along with dirty seating areas, make for a sloppy and unpleasant overall experience. All the ingredients are here: high-traffic location, good recipes, well-priced menu, prompt and pleasant service. But like with any restaurant, the proof’s on the plate. I ordered the lamb shawarma sandwich, classic, simple. The lamb was full of tough gristle, hard and jaw-popping. The sandwich was served like a burrito, rolled up in paper and foil, and the package cut in half. This put little bits of paper and foil into the sandwich halves, also not tasty. Trying to unwrap the sandwich caused the ingredients to spill out everywhere. Messy! The sauce, the bit that makes shawarma shawarma, was delicious as always, but no amount of yummy sauce will trim the tendon from the lamb meat, or do anything for the paper and foil bits but hide them further, or keep the cucumber, lettuce and tomato from creating a salad in the bottom of my basket. Larger pita, more traditional whole-sandwich service, and greater attention to meat prep will get things back on track. Sweeping and wiping your restaurant more frequently will help too. In a neighborhood rife with food choices, it’s super important to give customers every reason to come back… sadly, it will be a while before I come back here.

What a great lamb gyro plate that was. I used to go to the greenwood one and man and I can’t believe they take it seriously in every branch! Also, don’t forget to get some more pita bread to have it with hummus, salad, or more meat!

I was new to the neighborhood and checking out various spots. This place was so friendly and super quick with their orders. I have nothing bad to say about my experience. Totally recommend!

What’s there to say about Mr. Gyros that hasn’t already been said? This is my go-to falafel spot. I usually order the sandwich, but switch it up sometimes and get the plate. Both are quickly prepared(falafel is cooked to order) with fresh ingredients and served with a smile. I love the free mint tea as well; it’s a great alternative to water and it’s even better that they aren’t charging for it! I enjoy the hot sauce they have available; it’s flavorful and a great addition to the falafel. If you like Greek fries, these are outstanding. They are a thicker cut as you can see in other people’s photos, so they won’t fall down under the weight of the cheese. They appear to have remodeled this location since we were last here, and they partitioned the dining room off from the kitchen; there’s always plenty of seating, and you bus your own dishes when done. My wife and I started eating at Mr. Gyros years ago when they were running out of their first shop in Greenwood, but since we are in Ballard more often, this our preferred location. Five stars for the food and years of friendly, outstanding service.

Service is great. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted. Just make sure you check the time and hours before you drive down here or to the other locations. There’s a lot to choose from on the menu. When you are ready, you tell the cooks what you want and then pay at the register. There’s complementary green tea and water for those dining in or taking out. They prepare your food really quick. It’s surprising! And easy for take outs. The food is alright. There’s not much taste to the gyros. I expected more flavor. Maybe because I feel like one special sauce is missing. The vegetables are very fresh and overall eveything is fresh and tastes healthy! I wish there was more chicken to my gyro. The pita bread is thicker here and I don’t mind. Paid about 15.00 for 2 chicken gyros. Street parking as well.

This place is legit. My only complaints are twofold: 1) they have weird hours and close unpredictably, and 2) their pita bread is subpar. Otherwise, I love their dips, falafel and meats. Also, they have delicious free tea for dine-in customers(or to drink while waiting for your take-out order to be ready).

A random hole in the wall joint, nothing is too expensive here and you can get a decent meal here. I ordered the lamb gyro and while it was good it was definitely a bit messy. What I did wish they do was add a bit more kick to everything that I’m more used to. Where is the whipped garlic? Flavorful pickles? Would have loved a dollop of hummus in the pita as well. I guess at the end of the day the prices were a bit pricier when I’m sure you could get something equivalent or better out of a truck. Or maybe I’ve been spoiled by where I used to live and you could get an equivalent sandwich for $ 5 – 6.

This is my desert island Gyro stand. I get one of those, right? We’re neighbors with them and we end up eating there at least once a week: falafel plate with gyro sauce and lamb shwarma sandwich to go = a weekend’s worth of food under $ 12. The family who runs the place are incredibly friendly. I’ll take being barked at for my unusual sauce combination; I went to Catholic school — but not here! These guys are nice, keep up with everybody in the hood and take pride in the shop. Lastly, the hummus… it’s so good that it’s a god damn spiritual experience. I suggest you adopt a soviet mentality and order as much as you can carry/store/eat — Mr. Gyros can have weird hours and you don’t want to get caught without it.

This place is fairly large and is always a nice go-to spot after the bars close. I think a big reason why it is not only because the food is super good but the people here are awesome! I either get the gyro or the gyro salad which are both really good. They are always so accommodating here, for example, my wife is very particular about how much«white sauce» is in her salad. The employees there will ensure that she has the right amount greens, the right amount of sauce and even asks if she wants the pita(she usually declines but it’s a nice gesture). This place is very similar to the Greenwood location because the employees generously add a lot of meat on their gyro salads. Overall, I am very pleased with the service here and this is one of the only places open after the bars close. Tip: They are not open from 4 – 5. Oh and they are very reasonably priced!

I feel bad only giving them two stars, but my chicken gyro was mostly lettuce and cabbage. Not even kidding. I spent close to ten minutes picking lettuce off my gyro. Huge heaps of boring iceberg lettuce. If I had known that the gyro came with lettuce, I would have asked them to hold off, but I ordered blindly.(And I am 99% sure I have never received a gyro with lettuce on it before, so I just wasn’t expecting that to even be an option.) The three slices of chicken I got were so thin that, for a few minutes, I honestly thought they had forgotten to put any meat on the gyro at all. The pita was thicker than all three slices of meat, leaving every other flavor to overwhelm the chicken, which should have been the star of the show. I mostly tasted onion, tomato, and cucumber with sauce on pita bread — not really what I’m expecting when I eat a gyro. My boyfriend enjoyed his lamb gyro, so they get an extra star for that because I’m glad one of us enjoyed our meal. I was disappointed in mine and since I might never get to try them again, I think that’s a real shame. Maybe in another life, Mr. Gyros.

Great food, friendly staff, and fast service. What more could you want! Kevin, Cassidy, and Molé helped us and they were just so helpful and charming! Definitely coming back.

Mr. Gyro’s Ballard never disappoints! We always get take out and the lamb/beef gyro combo is my jam. With fries and a can of coke you can’t beat this price and quality at any other restaurant in the vicinity of Market Street. The gyros are huge and so yummy. The one warning I’ll give is that the gyro toppings include raw white onions which are intense. The staff is always nice when I call to place the takeout order and the food is always ready within 10 minutes. My spouse always picks up the food so I’m actually not sure if Diet Mountain Dew is among the options.

We usually love Mr. Gyros but the lunch we got from this location yesterday was not freshly cut off the spit and was dry instead of juicy. I suspect they pre-cut some of the meat to save assembly time but it affects the quality which is very disappointing!

Ordered a Gyros to go last week. It was huge, fresh and tasty. Only one thing I wish was different. They did not put any tzatziki sauce on it? Never had a Gyros with out tzatziki sauce. They did put some hummus on the pita which was tasty but I love tzatziki sauce so that was a bummer.

We ordered the gyro plate with extra meat and a side of falafel. The prices are REALLY reasonable and the quality of the food was great. The meat was tender and well flavored — pretty big portions. This filled three people up! Yes — the workers are friendly and pleasant Yes — we found street parking on a Tuesday during lunch without problems. Yes — there is a bathroom Yes — there is a dessert side for those with a sweet tooth

Mmmmmmm delicious! And wonderful, helpful staff. Nothing but bright, shining faces serving great shawarma, hot falafel, creamy hummus, and fresh salad. Also very cute and clean, with stretched canvas nature photography on the walls. Very relaxing and satisfying.

I love Mr. Gyros. They’re friendly, efficient, affordable and the food is delicious. The plates give you a taste of everything. It is easily my favorite Greek spot in Seattle. The flavors are so robust. So legit! One bonus about this location is it’s spacious if you want to sit and eat. Good to note: They break between 4 – 5!
