Georgetown Tile Works

I always run to TileWorks/​Frida when i want to impress my friends on their birthdays. Great gifts, clothes and stuff from local artists. Reasonable prices and a cute frenchie to sniff you at the door!

After window shopping/​admiring the bobbles in this eclectic shop. Most looks hand made and very latin inspiried. Someone has put a lot into stocking these shelves with out of the ordinary varriety of itmes you won’t find everywhere. The prices put art in reach of everyone. I picked up a hand cut and crafted tin piece that I adore. It was a difficult choice bewtween so many beautifyl items but the statement art that I found was completely worth it.

This store has always confused me.
I ended up in Gtown during Art Attack much earlier this year and my date and I absolutely LOVED the work of the artist they were featuring in their store. Months later, while wandering around the ‘hood again, the bff and I noticed a flyer for the artist currently on display at GTW and decided to check it out. I love art, but it’s usually a bit rare that I can afford the stuff I love. Thankfully, Kamala Dolphin-​Kingsley made reproductions available at GWT and they’re affordable for folks on a smaller budget (like me).
In addition to tile and ceramics, they carry some really kitschy cool gift type stuff that always seems totally unclassifiable to me. Clothes, accessories and nice tchotchkes… Probably best described by them as «Showroom Gallery featuring local artists, folk art, collectibles and rustic décor.»
So, I’m confused about their intentions, but I still like ‘em. Just like any of my other relationships, I suppose!

Should you be in Georgetown, don’t hesitate to go into Tile Works. Though they do have lots of tile stuff, they also have lots of miscellaneous items. My boyfriend and I picked up a graffiti art light switch cover for $ 3 or $ 5. It’s fabulous. Also, they have some cute embroidered baby jumpers (one says «Got Milk? with a pinup girl under it and another has a monster with «Little Monster» on it, and there are others too)! Come here for all your random needs and odd gifts for people!
