We were really excited to try the food here. They had a bunch of different types of tacos and especially they had Tamarind Margaritas — in which I adore. We came here for happy hour and wanted to sit on the patio. It wasnt busy at all, maybe 5 tables tops. We were seated at the top patio area and the host was very nice. She got us our waters and our menus. 15 minutes went by, no one showed up. We were ready to order our drinks and by this time our food as well. My boyfriend put a timer on to wait another couple minutes. We saw a waitress waiting 2 other tables in our area and just thought they were busy so we waited till she was done with their tables. As soon as she was done, she just went to stand back with the hostess and looked our way but didnt come help us. I cant judge the food since we got extremely poor service and just left. There were plenty of staff walking around doing nothing, so there is no excuse. After reading some more reviews, I see that other Unilocalers also had problems with staff and service. I regret not grabbing management before walking out.

There are few words to describe how incredibly authentic and amazing this place is. I was visiting my sister and brother in law in Woodinville and we decided to do brunch. We were on our way to check out another place but when I called to check on a wait time, the gal on the phone was less than friendly, so we skipped it. It doesn’t take much to deter this patron. As we were driving I quickly Unilocal’d a new spot. Fonda La Catrina popped up and since I’ve been living in Bowling Green KY for the last 6 months I haven’t been able to get truly authentic Mexican food. We decided to give it a try. Every bite of my mouth watering posole was accompanied by Ah’s and Mmmmm’s. If you get the opportunity to try this place you will not be disappointed. I also had their Tamarindo Margarita. Ahhhhh-Maze-ING!

Manager is not nice. Being very confrontational lacking in customer service. I would avoid his place like the plague.

Sorry not sorry. Poor service. Hosts were assholes. Over priced food. Redeeming quality was the $ 1016oz with ice jalapeño margarita. Avoid. Head north for better Mexican at a cheaper rate. Chips and salsa for $ 7? C’mon son. No refills? Soggy chips, for real? Go elsewhere. Save money. Dishes don’t come with rice & beans. Edit: So displeased with my experience I thought about it several times in the past 24 hours. Decided La Catrina didn’t deserve two stars.

After explaining to the head waitress(who apparently was called after I said my dog was a service dog), I was refused service. They said they needed proof, even after I explained that the ADA specifically stated that they cannot ask for proof, other than my statement as to what my dog does as a service animal. Train your waitresses before you get a lawsuit from denying service to those with disabilities. «Service Dogs must be allowed to go any public place their handler goes. It is required under federal and state laws that they be allowed to do so. They do not have to wear any specific identifying gear, including vests. Many Service Dog users choose to dress their dogs in a vest or other identifying apparel in order to make access easier, as it avoids many questions and confrontations. This is a personal choice, and is not required by law. It is illegal to ask for any special identification from Service Dog owners. Some carry ID cards, and may present them voluntarily, but this also is not required, and should not be expected. A business owner may NOT ask for „proof“ or certification of the dog’s training as a condition of entry into their business.» «There are individuals and organizations that sell service animal certification or registration documents online. These documents do not convey any rights under the ADA and the Department of Justice does not recognize them as proof that the dog is a service animal.» –https://www.ada.gov/regs2010/service_animal_qa.html

Mediocre and pretentious Mexican food with inattentive service. Had to go up to the bar to ask someone else to close our tab after 20 minutes of waiting and the waitress had the audacity to come make sure we paid when we were walking out. Recommend finding somewhere else to grab something delicious.

I’ve been here a several of times, but the last two times the services was horrible. This last time I went, the place wasn’t busy. Our first server came by and asked if we wanted to wait to happy hour(which was 2 mins away.) We said sure, but then it took another 10 mins for somebody to come back to our to get our order. Our pour server was running all over the place, working the inside and outside, while the rest of her coworkers(all males) where just standing at the bar talking. Not doing anything. We had asked for a chip refill and wanted to get more drinks. When she finally came back, we never got our chips. And we were threw on happy hour. However, and new joint open up next door, so we’ll try them for happy hour next.

I’ve been here 2x now and service was great. Love their outdoor dining area. I ordered the Comalito — carne asada with chorizo, melted cheese, onions and jalapeño it was really good. They had fresh chips & salsa & love their guacamole. I commend the girl who greeted us at the door for helping us get a table especially I had my baby with me. Very authentic Mexican food.

I’m a sucker for a good margarita, so I instantly fell in love with this place. Even better, they have a tamarind margarita that’s top notch. Even though I don’t like spicy foods, I love [semi] spicy drinks, so I followed up with the jalepeño margarita, with a request that they go easy on the spicy. Yum! Their chips and guac should be the first thing you order. The chips are truly perfection! We were there during HH and ordered a bunch of Tacos Dorados — incredibly delicious crispy tacos filled with potato/chorizo/chicken, topped with crema, cheese, lettuce and tomato. You need this. You really, really need this. I wish I was eating these right now. The service was attentive without being annoying and we had a great time. We didn’t sit on the patio but it looked like that would be a lovely place to spend an afternoon.

Patio was ugh amazing. Love the fun table clothes. Highly recommend the jalapeño margarita and coming for happy hour! $ 5 house margs is a steal. If you like spicy, they’ll bring you out some spicy house chipotle sauce that’s smokey and delish.

The reason I rated this so low is because of our waiter Rutilio. The enchilada plate comes with green, red, or mole. I asked if I could get 1-chicken, 1-chorizo, and 1-cheese. NO we cannot mix them. Wow, first time EVER in a Mexican restaurant anywhere in the world that I have traveled that didn’t allow a variety. Good guac, ok margs for the price. Tortilla soup had lots of chicken, hardly any vegetables and was greasy. PS: work in the hood and have been here many times. Definitely other choices in Seattle that put the customer Primero.

Anticipated a long wait since it was Cinco de Mayo but once we got in, it didn’t really live up to what we had expected. First of all, was told it’d be a 45 minute wait. So, instead of waiting out on the street, we went to the bar(apparently their sister establishment) instead. Spent happy hour there and decided to pass up our spot at FLC when they called after 10 – 15 minutes after we checked in. Had the wait estimation been close to what it actually was, we probably wouldn’t have ordered a round of drinks and tapas from next door. So, after we finished our drinks we finally went next door, was told it was another 30 minute wait. Luckily there was space at the bar. No happy hour so prices were up there. My friend and I tried the Fresca, which looked like a mojito. Although very refreshing it was also on the spicy side(for me, keeping in mind my spice tolerance is the low end). When we finally got a table, we were also advised that they had run out of Carne Asada. Bummer! So, I decided to skip the meal altogether and have dessert. The bread pudding was okay. Not the best that I’ve had. I like that they served local(Tilt) ice cream however. Hopefully, next time I’m able to truly have a dining experience here I’ll be able to have some Carne Asada.

Ate here two days in a row. Excited to see Enfrijoladas on the menu! House-made tortillas are terrific. Horchata runs a little too sweet for my taste, but at $ 2.50 I can’t complain. Tried the Comalito(carne asada and chorizo) and though pretty greasy from the chorizo, it was tasty. I expected the food to be on the salty side but it wasn’t, which was a great surprise. My guests visiting from out-of-town were happy and impressed with the food. When I went back for late lunch, the bar staff were talking loudly(with only 3 tables of customers in the restaurant), and my guests and I sat in silence as we ate. We gave up trying to hear each other talk. Got to hear some rather juicy gossip though! Had the tamales for lunch. I ordered chicken, but was served one pork and one chicken. We were on a time schedule so I just went with it and ate it. Masa was a little dry and tough, but overall the tamales were good. Can’t wait to try the pozole next.

Perfect! Like everyone has said, the staff is friendly even when busy, the place feels like home as soon as you step in the door, and the food is delish. Bonus points for the extra cute bright, flowery table cloths!

If you like complex flavors and do it yourself building, try the Comalito. Delicious! Chips are often warm and always delicious, salsa is just a bit spicy, and the guacamole is authentic and chunky. Their margaritas are quite tasty too.

This place is awesome! The chips and guacamole are top notch. I love the thick, salty chips. Tortillas are crave-worthy. They use good quality ingredients but the prices are still pleasantly reasonable for a brick and mortor spot with a thoughtful décor. No grisly, fatty meat here. Very good chorizo and queso. Service was very good and attentive. Kid-friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Strong margaritas. I got the higher shelf one for $ 10 and it was very good. They could use a changing table in the bathroom which is the only negative. I don’t understand when places are kid friendly but don’t have a changing table. Can’t wait to come back again and again. They have $ 5 happy hour house margaritas.

Dang, time slips by quickly. I came here after a going away party on airport way and we needed some calories then. But that was several years ago and I vowed to come back. Three years later, I stopped by to get take out. Carne asada… with a side of shrimpies and some cactus! I think the ride home took some of the goodness out of the meal, but it was a ton of food for $ 15. Two strips of beef, 4 shrimp(that I had to ask them to tone down in heat), a cactus, some avocados, with beans and rice. I didn’t think i was hungry when I started, but I took it all down. A bit of savory, a bit more of spice and a bit of texture… I need to come back more often.

Loved this place. I was quite surprised when I came here for lunch(I arrived before noon) and the dining room was packed. Luckily, they have a heated patio and we got a table. I had the marinated pork torta and man was it good. Everything I saw looked fabulous and the happy hour is great also(according to my co-workers). Parking may be difficult but the food is worth it.

If you want overpriced, ma n pops Mexican lunch, then come here! The atmosphere is very relaxed and Mexican-ish. I felt like I was in Mexico, the whole time we were there. Which is awesome! What I didn’t like was, the $ 7 chips and salsa and guac they charged us on our bill. C’mon now! I would’ve been ok with just good ol’ unlimited chips n salsa at other Mexican restaurant. If you look at the menu, the price seems fair. I got the Camarones(shrimp) plate for $ 12, but if I want the full meal, with beans, rice and tortillas, add $ 4. I feel like if they were to price that plate for $ 16, it would’ve been an overpriced lunch. Ok enough with the rant. Food was good. House margarita was yummy and strong. Would I come back for more? Maybe not.

Service is always great here and the food is delish!!! This place gets crowded during lunch due to all the nearby businesses who take their team lunch breaks in George Town so make sure you have enough time to spend waiting for your food and your bill. I’ve been here for happy hour too and it was less crowded and the happy hour menu is pretty good! Love their chips salsa and guac but it’s not free. Street parking is free if you can find it otherwise there’s a $ 2 pay to park lot nearby.
