How I heard of this place: The Seattle Art Museum is hosting a Summer At SAM, a summer of concerts, yoga, Zumba, and artwork in the parks. In our neck of the woods, we are blessed to have the Olympic Sculpture Park in our backyard, where we can enjoy all that Summer at SAM has to offer. On this evening, «Known for dramatic performances as well as subtle, varied recordings, Seattle experimental rock ensemble Midday Veil combines haunting vocals and cosmic synth work with driving, hypnotic rock grooves to produce music that rewards careful listening and defies easy categorization.» While the music landed itself mostly to giggling and half-hearted listening, the gathered food trucks were taking all of the attention. Among them, Fusion on the Run. Type of cuisine: Food on the mainland, prepared, made and served like the islands of Hawaii. Oh yeah. Ambiance: A food truck at it’s peak; high windowed opening to allow for orders to be made and picked up, bright red to attract attention — and adulation -, and the fragrance of island fresh tacos wafting in all directions! What I ordered: Being unable to decide on just one, I was so pleased to see that a combo offer for three was being offered. And that sealed the deal. One Kalua Pork Taco: surfer sauce, mango pineapple salsa, pickled red onion, one Beef Short Ribs Taco: boneless short ribs with cilantro & onion, daikon & carrots, and one Coco Adobo Chicken: sesame slaw, daikon & carrots. What I loved: Each taco had it’s own special flair and reason to return. I was surprised by how much I loved the Kalua Pork, but the fresh cilantro and onions, and the slightly sweet, crunchy daikon & carrots of Beef Short Rib still won me over. Why I loved it: Fast. Easy. Delicious. Eat. More. Cost: Average to high($ 3 per taco)

May as well write this review as I eat their tacos at the same time. 1st time trying them out and saw their food truck at Westlake Park today. 3 tacos for $ 7…sold. I got 1 chicken, 1 kahlua pork, 1 short rib, all came with a nice slaw on top and 2 mini lime wedges.(lime is important to me). All were very tasty and would definitely get it again, my coworkers were definitely jelly when they saw me walk down the row with these tacos. They have other items on the menu like quesadillas, fried rice and a few others I forgot. They were very friendly and nice and also recommended putting the mango habanero sauce on top of the pork taco. I did and glad I did!!! I definitely will keep an eye out for them and visit again!

The food is ok and that is all I really have to say about the truck. The price was reasonable, lunch under $ 10 in the SLU area. 3 stars. I ordered the fried rice with tofu and an egg, my colleague got the same rice with pork and egg. It was a sizable portion and the food was flavorful. My colleague mentioned his dish had too much oil.

We hired Fusion On The Run to be one of a few food trucks at our company’s summer picnic which attracted about 600 people. Hands down, Fusion On The Run was one of the most popular trucks. Everyone I heard loved all the tacos that came off the truck. In fact, they even made me WANT to eat Tofu Tacos… they were SO good. I will absolutely hunt this truck down again when I get a craving for food truck food! Their Coconut Adobo Chicken Tacos were also to die for!!!

We found Fusion On The Run while at the Mercer Island Farmers Market this past weekend and were interested in their menu because they seemed to have a good mix of Asian/other ethnic food on the list. At the end, we shared a Kalua Pork Fusion Sandwich(with an additional fried egg and bacon) and a Red Curry Fried Rice with Kalbi Marinated Beef and we were not disappointed at all. The flavors were interesting as it’s a mix of different food culture. Their main dish prices were also very reasonable(just around $ 7 – 10) and the portions are really reasonable for the prices, too. The wait wasn’t long either. We waited just 5 minutes for our food. I wouldn’t hesitate to eat their food again!(love their Kalua Pork Sandwich!).

Got the Kalua Pork and Short Ribs tacos as part of the 107.7 The End Taco Truck Challenge. They were delicious! I don’t know what the surfer sauce is, but it was really good. Despite the crowd, the wait was short(from taking my order to receiving the tacos). Seems like they normally have a larger menu, so next task is definitely find it on a regular day. :)

Oh I wish this truck would come around more often! The Kalua Pork Tacos are the BOMB! I dipped it with a tiny bit of the mango salsa on each bite and OMG! Price is perfect for a lunch grab and go!

Completely out of control how amazing the tacos are! you. must. try. No one is skimping here — tons of super juicy, flavorful meat with perfectly complimentary bits on top! I couldn’t even add the mango salsa at first because I was blown away by the meat. I got over it and added salsa to the next one and, not surprisingly, it was even more brilliant. I have been moved by tacos. Hands down, best in Seattle. Done.

Underneath the soaring glass and steel of the Seattle Central Library there idles a red truck with clean graphic design, surfing through plumerias(I think that’s the Hawaiian flower depicted?). Much hullabaloo about tacos but my focus is the curry fried rice and my refined focus is meat usually opting for pork(tender and delicious and keeps me coming back) with a one-up for a buck to add extra meat. Sometimes I’ll opt for the beef short rib to mix it up. The rice has coconut milk, diced peppers and onions and tiny bits of pineapple. The sauces on the counter are absolutely not to be missed. There’s green and orange, they’re both fruity but the orange is labeled with warning indicating Habanero presence(but it’s not overwhelmingly spicy; it’s manageable and delicious). The more sauce the better. Service is very friendly and swift. It’s quite a great taste of the islands given that it’s downtown Seattle(and I’m glad they didn’t bring a Spam mixed plate option).

I know that they’ve been outside the library across from where I work almost the entire time that I’ve been in this location. I’ve never tried them until today due to a horrible aversion to the thought of fruit ever mixing with my meat. I know it’s strange, but it’s just the way that it was! However, I recently decided to buck up, start trying new things, and this was part of it. The line wasn’t long when I got there at eleven thirty. There was only one guy in front of me. The cooks were I ordered the coconut adobo Bahn Mi. At first, I was a little shocked by the $ 8 price tag. I then realized that it was an eleven inch sandwich. Wow. The jicama slaw was absolutely excellent in the sandwich. The jicama/apple notes were very complimentary to the hint of cocunut in the adobo. The bread was crisp, delicious and sturdy in the sense that I didn’t have to worry about the juices making it fall apart. I added some of their spicy green sauce in addition to some jalapenos. DEE-LICIOUS. It was eleven inches. I intended on saving half for later. I couldn’t stop eating it. I’m uncomfortably full now, but oh so happy for the taste explosion in my mouth.

More, please! I went for three tacos today: short ribs, pulled pork, and grilled veggie. At $ 7, and satisfied belly, I don’t think I could have done much better. Fast service, convenient location, and friendly staff. I will be back!

I have eaten out of this food truck twice and have been lovin’ it ever since. We had the Orange Chicken both times, without the peppers and cilantro, because I am a wimp and cilantro tastes like dirt. But I digress, I wish this truck was closer to the Southend. We need this! Yum Yum Yum!

This is the only Food Truck I pass on my lunch break from my office on 4th& Union to my apartment a couple blocks up on First Hill. Which is very sad, by the way. I digress. Fusion on the run is a Mexican pacific islander fusion truck. They make your Mexican basics like quesadilla & tacos but give it an Asian island twist with fresh ingredients. They also have a great little hot sauce bar. The mango chipotle sauce is amazing. I highly recommend the tacos and quesadilla. I usually take my lunch around 11, which is about the time they start serving so I have never had to deal with a long line The staff is also friendly and the food comes out fast. They also take credit card which is a big score

Delicious and large servings! Got the Grilled Vegetable Bahn Mi. This was my first Banh Mi experience so I’m not sure if it was authentic but it was DELICIOUS. A little messy with a pile of grilled onions, mushrooms and peppers! Cilantro was refreshing and the sauce tasted mostly like a sesame/ginger/soy and it was incredible. It was a big sandwich for $ 7 so i am HAPPY. I will come back for more Banh Mi and for some tacos!

I’ve been going to Fusion for awhile now. The staff always looks like they’re working super hard to get food out the window. I give them a lot of props for that. I can also say that in all the times I’ve been there, I don’t think any of the staff has recognized me as a repeat customer. Ever. My favorite menu item = kalua tacos. I love the mango-pineapple salsa on it and the flavors blend very well. As a born and bred Hawaiian girl, I can say that the kalua is decent. Mahi tacos are definitely worth a try(but not always on the menu). As far as other dishes, my family and I have had mixed reviews. The short rib bahn mi is a «go to» for me but could use a little less bread and a little more filling. The short rib tacos is not something that I enjoy. The flavors are disjointed, jarring, and do not meld. All in all, I go to Fusion fairly regularly. I know what I’m getting. The staff is dependable and the food is reliable.

2.5 stars. This brightly colored truck showed up outside of my office sometime in the past couple of weeks. Word on the street is that they have the first premanent food truck license in the downtown area. I love the idea of food trucks in Seattle so I decided to hop accross the street and check it out. The verdict? The jury is still out but for the moment I’m going with«not worth the calories». I might give it another shot. I had a veggie taco(yummy!), red curry fried rice(pretty good, but more coconut than curry) and jicama slaw(more cabage than jicama, overwhelming amounts of cilantro, rice wine vinegar, and sesame oil). This came to $ 7.50. Each item was fairly good sized though. Prices seemed reasonable overall. The food came accross as overly sweet accross the board and while I had moments of «yum» I walked away feeling it was«just ok». Here is the rub, though: they have lots of stiff competition for tasty grab & go eats in this neighborhood. All totalled, this was a 20 – 30 minute excursion for a taco– which is just too long to bother with on most work days(I can be in and out of the taco place accross the street in about 3 minutes flat). My sense is these guys just don’t quite have the mise en place down for handling a busy lunch rush. They have an ambitious menu that requires lots of fussy toppings and preparations and I’m not sure it quite translates to this venue. If the length of service issue persists– it will be intersting to see if they can compete with the speedy service of the abundant competition.

I was really surprised when I saw them in front of the downtown library. I had to try something from their menu. I walked up to the open window. I had some questions about the ingredients in their tacos. I didn’t know what daikon was. I ordered the marinated short ribs taco. 2 people were ahead of me but it still took less than 5 minutes. My order was finally up so I grabbed my taco, I sat down on one of the metal benches in front of the library and ate it. It was delicious and flavorful. I’m glad they parked in front of the library. It’s such a convenient spot and it’s great for them because they don’t have to provide any chairs.

While we were at the Capitol Hill Night Market on Saturday, Fusion on the Run served an amazing Breakfast Taco with Bacon and Pineapples. It tasted like a mini-Hawaiian Pizza so if you’re like me and love fruit in savory dishes, then this is perfect. On Tuesdays, they are parked on 2nd and Pine for the lunch crowd. I ordered their Korean-Vietnamese Fusion Short Rib Banh Mi Sandwich(aka KV Meat). For $ 6, it is a bit pricy for a banh mi sandwich, but it is very well done and creatively crafted. The KV Meat is super tender and flavorful and the replacing the pickled veggies with cole slaw is super smart. It would be nice if they provided tables to enjoy their food when they’re doing lunch. It is very easy to compare Fusion on the Run with Marination Mobile/Station and it is clear that while Fusion is enjoyable, it is not as good as Marination. However, if not comparing Fusion to anybody else, I would give Fusion on the Run a 4, but when compared to Marination, it is more like a 3.5.
