Excellent food and the nicest woman as hostess/waitress. We’ve tried several dishes and everything has been great, but our favorites are probably the Sizzling Fish and Shrimp Chow Mein with homemade noodles. The portions are of a good size for the price and everything always tastes and looks fresh, and it’s cooked to perfection. I’ve lived several places, including San Francisco, so I’m eaten Chinese food everywhere and this place rocks. It’s never very busy, which is shocking, and there’s a small parking lot which is very convenient. They also will modify a dish to your liking, so it’s like having your own Chinese chef!

i love this place. best Chinese food I think I’ve had since moving up to WA. my favorite about this place? they make off menu items. i’ll share one with you, this is one of my most favorite comfort food dishes: Kung Pao Fish. they make it awesome and delicious. I’d show you a picture of them, but it didn’t last long enough for my wife to get her phone out and snap a picture. our favorites here are the Mongolian beef, walnut shrimp, kung pao fish, and green beans. couple those four dishes with either fried rice or chow mein and we have ourselves a Chinese food party! price per portion of food seems decent. they give you more of a dish if it doesn’t contain expensive ingredients, such as fish or shrimp. but I feel pricing is about right for the quality of food received.

Poor time management. Two hours wait time for food. Take out orders seem to be prioritized over sit down customers. Will never come back.

This place is a gem! Had my doubts walking in; but the food was great. By far the best Chinese food I’ve had in Seattle! Will be back!

Love the hand shaven noodles and the pot stickers! Sort of reminds me of the Shanghai Garden in the ID. The hostess/owner is one of the nicest people in the world. Always enjoy eating there!

Picked up our take out here tonight. Good smells inside to go with the good food. The friendly lady doing all the front work was so busy she forgot to pack us the steamed rice to go with all the food. Will plan on eating here again on another trip. Yep.

*** 100thREVIEW *** in college, there was a chinese restaurant near my apartment that was open pretty late at night. in various states of inebriation, we’d often visit and request the same order(«combination fried rice»), often prompting the same response from the slew of young women who worked there: «why do you always order the same thing? it’s the worst thing on the menu!» perhaps that was so, but it tasted really good to us. whether or not it would still be good today is a different matter, but my memories of that restaurant have prompted me to search far and wide for fried rice that brings me the same kind of joy as as wan fu in austin, texas. that was a long time ago; these days, i reside in sleepy north seattle, college and inebriation long behind me. i’ve visited chinese restaurants over the years, and much to my dismay, the fried rice has never had that«pop» as i remember in the glory days of stumbling around oltorf street. being apprehensive about food on aurora, one fine day, i stepped into fu shen. i was hungry and figured i’d order a bunch of stuff to go — whatever i didn’t eat would turn into breakfast the next morning. after picking out some orange chicken, mongolian beef, and sweet and sour soup, i placed my inevitable order for beef fried rice. the lady that operates the place was as sweet as can be. she offered tea while i waited for my order, and made pleasant conversation. when my order was ready, she bagged everything and wished me well as i walked out. the fried rice was delicious. it was college all over again(minus however much i had imbibed then). the soup was delicious. the chicken and beef were delicious. ladies and gentleman, i am pleased to announce that i had found my new go-to place for chinese food. i’ve been back several times since that first night. on occasion, i’ll order something different just to sample the menu, but they now know what i want upon walking in — sweet and sour soup, and spicy beef fried rice. i’ve seen some reviews talk about it not being«authentic» this or that, but the reality is that nothing is «authentic». it’s a bullsh*t marketing term to draw in more customers — a mexican place in ballard claims to be «authentic», but authentic to where? what region? what time? if the food is good, just enjoy it, regardless of «authenticity». i really like fu shen. they have yet to let me down. the food is good. the owners are nice. the place is comfortable. that’s good enough for me and college-me.

I went there because of the 4 star rating. I’ve been looking for a replacement for Louie’s in Ballard that closed down. I ordered 4 of the worst dishes I ever had. I’m starting to think people are fudging all of these Unilocal reviews.

Well this will definitely be my Chinese food go-to from here on out! I called in a take out order and the woman on the phone was very informative and patient. Once I got there she greeted me with a welcoming smile, great first impression! The place on the outside doesn’t look like anything special, nor does the décor inside, but don’t let that stop you from eating here if you can’t get it to go because it is delicious!!! House special fried rice — soo soo yummy. with the usual veggies, peas, carrots etc. it also had a good portion of smaller pieces of chicken, beef and shrimp. Hand made noodle chow mein/pork — big but thinly sliced pieces of pork with thick noodles that had a delicious taste to them. great texture too, not too greasy. Walnut honey prawns — thank you fellow Unilocalers, i’ve never indulged in something quite like these before and holy yummy! Super rich, so don’t get it as a meal — but who doesn’t love left overs?! Beef & Broccoli — this was my BF’s fav! Great portions of both meat and veggie. Orange chicken– this was my favorite dish! I haven’t come by an orange chicken in years that i loved! It wasn’t too heavily breaded and the sauce was thick, orange and delicious!!! Yes, we are piggies and had that much food! It had been a long time since i had Chinese food and with all these great reviews, my dinner was a success! It’ll be a special treat that’s for sure!

House Special Fried Rice: Fantastic! Not too oily or salty. Lots of ingredients. Really good flavor. Pork w/Black Bean Sauce: Great! Again, not too salty — really balanced flavor accompanied with a lingering sweetness. Broccoli was cooked perfect! I will be back.

As good as Chinese food gets in Seattle. Friendly, family style atmosphere and great for the kids. Easy Sunday dinner. We love their fried rice, Ants on a Tree(noodle dish), Kung Pao, and eggplant dishes.

Expensive! It blew me away how expensive the bill was at the end of the meal. 2 entrees came out to $ 26? No way that’s a good price for the portions. I got the mapo tofu and my friend got the garlic prawn. I was thinking maybe $ 18 – 20 would be reasonable. But I guess adding rice means another $ 5? That’s ridiculous. $ 5 for some rice? C’mon now. The food was pretty average. A bit too salty and the portions didn’t reflect the prices very well. I would’ve expected more for what I was paying. I won’t come back here again. Too expensive for mediocre food. Plus there was a dead rat right outside the kitchen door. So there’s that too…

Beef chow fun(dry), salted fish and chicken fried rice, and salt and pepper pork chops — All super solid! We like to get the spicy option on these. What really gets us though is the Chinese lady who is always there and just so nice! Whether it’s take out or dine in, she is the nicest and sweetest! Awesome service and local gem that we have been going to for a while now. Love Fu Shen! So convenient and delicious! :)

Finally! After three years of living in Seattle, I have found classic Chinese-American Sesame chicken, and BONUS! It comes with a side of broccoli! I’ve also had their egg drop soup(called egg flour soup) that was perfect when I wasn’t feeling well. The two small downsides I see: 1. when I had their hot and sour soup, it was faaarrr too sour for my taste. I threw most of it away. 2. they don’t offer brown rice, and you have to pay extra for the white rice. Meh. Definitely my go-to spot when I want good Chinese food that reminds me of my childhood!

I would usually give a restaurant like this a 3 star rating, but the owner was so sweet and accomodating that I would feel wrong to do so. The food was good, not amazing, but good. The serving size seemed smaller to us than most asian venues with the same prices. Honey walnut prawns. Very tasty and the shrimp wasn’t overcooked, which is a rarity. Salt and pepper squid. Required the addition of of a lot of salt and pepper. Definitely tastes great with the garlic and jalapeño garnish; unfortunately, not enough garnish. House special chow mein. Was ok, could skip on this entrée. Braised pork hot pot. Tasty, but could have used more cook time. It was a special, non-menu item. So, yeah, terrific family restaurant. Come to be treated well and have some good chinese food.

My boyfriend told me that I could have anything that I wanted for my birthday dinner, and I wanted Chinese! My usual Chinese is in the ID, though, and I didn’t want to go far. So we Unilocaled, of course, and we found Fu Shen. Great find! Situated right on Aurora, don’t let the exterior or interior fool you — this place is very tasty! We ordered hot and sour soup, BBQ pork appetizer, Szechuan garlic beef, and house chow mein(with handmade noodles). We got everything to go. While we were waiting, the owner offered us water, tea, and let us sit down. She must have thanked us and wished us a good evening at least 5 times, too! So friendly. :) The hot and sour soup is really tasty. Not too thick and a nice size. The BBQ pork appetizer tasted fresh and came with a hot mustard dipping sauce. The garlic beef and house chow mein were large portions and were really great. The beef was well done and nicely seasoned. The noodles came with an array of meats and seafood items. We definitely had enough for leftovers! So glad I made this discovery! Will definitely be back to eat in house or get take out.

When I was a child my father and I used to come to the pizza place that used to be here(the House of Pizza and Pasta) for take out. When that closed, I remember being super sad that such a nostalgic restaurant was gone… I thought I’d never get over it, until I tried Fu Shen and decided they are worthy of this building and the good memories that go with it. My family comes here a lot(see Andrea S.‘s review) and the people who run this place are awesome — so friendly and helpful, they really go above and beyond for customer service. We hold a lot of large family events here(with 20+ people) and they are amazing and always remember us and are especially sweet to our grandmother. For health reasons, I’m supposed to avoid gluten and soy, which can make Chinese food nearly impossible. At Fu Shen they always go out of their way to make sure I end up with a flavorful meal that won’t leave me sick — usually the almond cranberry chicken, which is SO good… But I do really miss their honey walnut prawns.
