Great little shop! Conveniently located by Morsel, MOD Pizza and El Camion if you want to grab a bite while you drop off your tailoring. The woman who runs the shop was kind and professional, and took in the jeans I brought to be re-​zippered with no issue. They’re a high-​waisted pair so slightly trickier to repair, but in the end she took out one seam and resewed it in order to make the zipper lie correctly, and she didn’t charge me any extra. And she had it done ahead of schedule. Would recommend!

Finer Alterations is a great little shop owned by a very nice lady. I have had many pairs of pants hemmed there and she was always very inviting and helpful. In nearly all cases she beat the delivery date quoted and often was able to do rush jobs for me. As for cost I think her pricing is very fair and reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend her services if you are in need.

Korean lady seems oblivious, but is really trying to rip you off. That is what I think anyway, when someone tries to charge you $ 200 for him on a dress, that other places have about $ 60 for. Don’t go here unless you want to get ripped off.

Do not go here. I took a jacket in to get altered and it did not get done right. The owner told me to leave and she would not do anything to fix it. The prices are very high also. Total ripoff!

Give me my pants! That’s how this Seinfeld like alteration experience ended. I brought one pair of dress pants to be hemmed. I explained that I wanted to hem the pants to wear with flats (no more heels!) and she pinned them up. They looked a little long still so I asked about that and struggled to understand her explanation but realized she was leaving them long enough to work also with heels. I explained again, no heels. She begrudgingly changed the pins. I changed back and went to check out, I asked which day she could have them done. She explained that she’s really busy, sits too long and needs acupuncture (TMI). When can the pants be completed, I have to go out of town Saturday morning, any chance I can have them then? No, one week. Ok, I’ll have to go somewhere else and I start to unpin them. She grabs them and agrees to Saturday. I say Saturday won’t work, my flight is early… Thank you but I’ll just go somewhere else. She then grabs my pants, refusing to let me take them and, at this point, we end up in a bit of a tug of war over my pants. I say, please, give me my pants! grab them and walk out. Maybe it was a bad day for her but I went ahead and called «Perfect Fit» where Pauline was lovely, made an appointment and will have my pants hemmed within 24 hours, plenty of time for my flight.

I brought 2 pairs of pants here to be shortened. I explained to the lady what I wanted, and although her accent is very strong, I was able to understand her explanation of how she would hem the pants to be slightly longer in back and shorter in front so they would drape nicely over my shoes. A week later, my pants were ready for a very reasonable price, and they look great. I will definitely come back here next time I need something altered!

Very nice old Korean lady works at this hole in the wall in Ballard. She does excellent work and shows and explains everything she does. My slacks hemming was $ 20, which is slightly expensive but she also nicely pressed and steamed my pant so they look like new. Cash only here.

The work is excellent, and she quoted me a fair price for shortening the spaghetti straps on my evening gown. She actually reduced the price for her work when I picked up my dress from $ 25 + tax to $ 20 + tax because it took her less time than she expected. Bring cash (no credit cards or checks accepted).

This place was a lifesaver!
I inherited a dress from a friend years ago that I love (love love love love love) — but I had the misfortune of the zipper breaking and tearing the fabric. Which means… I was on the verge of losing my dress! Horrid right? Especially as it’s such a tight fit I didn’t have a lot of wiggle room for repairs.
Luckily — I turned to Unilocal.Who turned me to this amazing lady. She fixed my zipper and while it’s a tiny bit snugger than it was before — it fits fantastic. Which means I have my favorite dress back in rotation.
On top of that, the price was so over the top affordable that I can’t explain how happy I am. I strongly recommend this place if you’re looking for an alteration.

I won’t be going back.
I brought in three items to be altered. One item was a black skirt with a broken zipper. When I picked up the skirt, the zipper had been replaced with a navy one. I pointed this out and the seamstress said she couldn’t find a black zipper. What?! She had a week to do the alteration, and I had not been pushy about the pick-​up date. She rationalized her decision to install a navy zipper because a small flap of fabric covers the zipper. But if by chance anyone gets a sneak peak of what is behind that flap they’ll see a very contrasting navy zipper. This ‘fix’ cost $ 20.
The other two items were a pair of pants that needed to be hemmed ($ 18) and a wool coat with a hole in the armpit ($ 10). These items turned out as expected.
Another complaint is that none of the items had been pressed. I consider pressing part of the cost for an alteration and was very disappointed to return home with wrinkled garments.
Last, cash is the only method of payment she accepts. Rather inconvenient.

I’ve taken slacks here to have them hemmed, and I brought my boyfriend when he needed the waist let out on a pair of dress pants. The woman who runs the shop is friendly and has always done great work for us, and I will bring any of my alteration work here.

After trying several places, I’ve found my alterations place :)
Seriously, THE sweetest little old lady works here!
I dropped off a pair of jeans for a hem this afternoon (on a major snow day when many businesses/​schools are closed) and asked for them to be completed same day. She not only obliged, she finished them in a couple of hours for only a few bucks more. It was $ 17 total. Plus, she was extremely nice and so sweet to talk to.
Love her and love this place!

I just picked up my dress and its perfect! She did a great job pressing the dress which had many pleats in it and took out the bra cups which I can’t even tell where she would have taken them out from! I was SO nervous since I have a hard time understanding anything but PERFECT English (that includes southern and east coast accents), so while I didn’t understand anything she said except for «press here“x50, I didn’t think she got what I meant about removing the cups (my receipt said bro tack of, which I’m assuming really means bra back off, so I though she was going to remove the back lining), but she did it! I’m so happy! I made sure to pay in advance and it only cost me $ 50 plus tax (which is a good deal for the amount of steam work and pressing she did).

I just had a rush job done on a pair of jeans that I needed hemmed. The owner was wonderful to work with, did the job in two and a half hours despite having jobs to finish ahead of me, and charged me a reasonable price. (It was $ 20 for the same day job. I would assume it would be the $ 15 others mentioned if she hadn’t had to do it so quickly.) She did a perfect job on a fairly trendy pair of skinny jeans. Overall, I’m so thrilled and can’t recommend her enough! She was working on a Kate Spade dress when I came in, and that also looked phenomenal, she definitely understands craftsmanship.

I have been very pleased with the work done here. The store is tiny and very plain, you could easily miss the place. The owner is very sweet, she does not speak much English, but has a keen eye for detail and does high quality work. I had her take up some Joe jeans and she did a great job, the stitching looked totally professional. Cost is about $ 15 per pair of pants.

ok… so since moving to Seattle I’ve been under a lot of stress and lost about 12 pounds (which I’m not complaining about!); however, leaving my sales job in san diego to follow my heart for a low paying non profit job makes me happy – but broke… with clothes that don’t fit anymore. I brought 3 pairs of jeans and 3 pairs of slacks to get taken in and this woman who is the cutest, sweetest most huggable little Korean lady did an amazing job. Her english is a little broken – but fortunately you don’t need to talk much… just put on your clothes and she’ll take it from there. Her prices are fair and reasonable and I feel like I just came home with 6 new pairs of pants for the price of one!

Yes the work is quality, but the prices are arbitrary. She quoted me a price for work on my dress, then tried charge me more when I went to pick it up.

One of my favorite finds in Ballard. I have had one bridesmaid’s dress and three pairs of pants done here and she did a great job with all.
The woman that works here is very sweet, she is this tiny Korean woman. Talk about hole-​in-​the-​wall, teeny storefront, you would miss it if you weren’t looking for it.
My dress was $ 125 for the alterations and pants were $ 15 each to take up. I think this is about average, not cheap by any means, but she does great work.
NEW– I wanted to add that she does a great job with jean alterations. She left the original cuff on and folded the extra material in, so I could take it back down if I ever wanted to. When you have stubby legs like me you appreciate jeans that don’t LOOK hemmed.
