Please let me preface this review by disclosing the fact that I’m from Iowa. We have the Amana Colonies where there is authentic German food, the Millstream Brewing Company and butchers/bakers/cheese shops aplenty. So, I think I have high expectations for German food. There weren’t any tables open when we got there around 8 on a Saturday night. The place is warm and inviting with bench style seats and nice lighting. But there were multiple parties waiting for tables with no one to organize the chaos, so it was sort of like a Hunger Games reenactment trying to get a seat. The beer selection covers all the bases and the menu explains the selection really well. Both my friends liked their beers– One had the Zwick’l Kellerbier, which was barrel aged, heavy on the wheat and a little sweet. The other had a Weissbier that was a little on the sweet side, but still good. As for food, I ordered two small plates. The Currywurst with pommes frites and the potato cakes with applesauce.(Shut up. I like potatoes) it was alllllllllright, but sort of lazy. The fries were like fast food fries with«curry ketchup» which was nothing special. The potato cakes were topped with bland applesauce. Nothing was seasoned particularly well. My BF had a Wurst platter that had sausages, sauerkraut and rye bread. Everything seemed generic. The sausage was good, but lacked seasoning, the sauerkraut wasn’t anything special and neither was the bread. The service was friendly and the noise level was low enough to be able to hear. Based on the food we ordered, if you go in with the expectation that you’re getting bar food, you probably won’t be disappointed. I think there’s a better German restaurant around here, and I’ll let you know when I find it. :)

This place has an awesome selection of beers on tap. I ordered a burger and was surprised it came out on a hoagie but it tasted just as good as a regular bun. They have a great selection of bar food and is perfect place to come back to with friends! Located in a very nice location off of Yale ave couple of blocks from Amazon.

I came here because I love German food and love German BEER of course! I’ve spent a lot of time in Germany and have German family that loves to cook, so I was happy to try this place out. Service is solid and the beer selection is pretty good too… nice HH prices. However, the food here SUCKS. The dumplings are terrible and the spätzle is probably the worst I have ever had in my life. And if you want a pretzel, be ready to get one that’s maybe a bit bigger than a compact make up mirror. The schinitzel is standard(but then again, who can mess that up?). My friend and I who checked this place out decided that it was the German version of TGIFridays. Great for boozing, crappy for food. Bottom line: if you a thirsty, great spot! If you’re hungry: pass!

I am fully German and hadn’t tried out any«Authentic German» restaurants in the area yet. I read the reviews and decided on Feierabend. The place is lovely, it’s not too over-the-top stereotypical and Staff seem friendly. My mother and I were expecting it to be just a little more authentic in a sense that perhaps the wait staff would speak german, or would be able to take an order in german? I don’t know, but not a huge deal. We both order the Jägerschnitzel with mushroom sauce and substituted the Spätzle and red cabbage with Pommes Frites(french fries) and a salad. This is most similar to a customary Jägerschnitzel dish, red cabbage and Spätzle *to me* is a strange side dish for a Schnitzel. The food was good, but not quite what we had envisioned. It really had nothing to do with quality, and the price was decent for the amount of food you got. It was just minor details that were a miss only because of what we’re used to. The drinks and beer were refreshing and the overall atmosphere was nice. There is plenty paid parking around the corner but off street parking was a bit crowded as like the rest of seattle.

This place is great! Plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. Great finger food and beer at a reasonable price.

Stopped in again, eight months later, to feast on some German food. Still love the interior, though it was much louder this time(a little later, you know how it goes), and they were playing some club music, which was odd, again, but I’m sure they rotate the tunes. This time, I got the wurst sampler. I’m beginning to think I just don’t like sausages, so I won’t be too harsh. Though they weren’t bad, they weren’t spiced like I hoped. I suggest getting a side of the curry ketchup if you get the sampler, it paired a bit better than the mustard with 2⁄3 of the sausages. The sauerkraut was good, but could have used more caraway(and howabout some pork, amirite??). My friend got the bratwurst burger and added bacon. It was super flavorful and just made your mouth melt like a shag carpet under the toes. Get it, eat it, be happy. She also got a German Pure(brand) cider, which she was happy with. As compared with the Die BierStube, they have more food, but almost everything else is the same — service, bar-orientedness, environment, prices, etc. Please get different coffee. I hate Herkimer with a burning passion. Just acidic and I always have to choke it down to get my fix: P That’s totally personal, though.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. I love German food and had high hopes. It was good, different, but worth a stop. A little twist in German food. Fun atmosphere in a neighborhood setting. Lots of good German beers on tap and in bottle. I went here hoping to see lots of TVs and soccer but nope… Small TVs and while I know there were soccer games to watch unfortunately basketball was on.

I really like this place. Good food. And a good bar to go to with a group of friends for great beer. Walkable from my apartment. Nice area and a safe walk home. Nice waiters and bartenders who don’t mind a loud friendly crew. I have been here three times. The first time we had a really weird waitress who kept correcting the way we said our words(even though she was incorrect more than once, but I am from the east coast, maybe she didn’t like my accent?) and was just being rude, but the other two times we had fantastic servers. We will likely frequent this place often since its so close to my place and a great atmosphere.

They have a great Happy Hour. I’m a fan of their Brat Sliders with fries and the selection of German beer is spectacular too. They have some of my favorite beers and they’re fresh. The service is fast and friendly and you can tell from the décor that the person that designed this place spent time in Germany. It’s very authentic and close to REI so I visit whenever I’m in the area. They even have a couple of tables outside giving a nice option on a sunny day. The rest of their menu is tasty too if you’re there for dinner. I enjoy the Schweinshaxen(Ham Hock) and sausages too. Very authentic for people like my son and I that love german food.

Came here on a rainy night, nice warm & cozy place to have some drinks & eats with some friends. Nice atmosphere when you walk in, you can pretty much sit wherever there are open spots. FYI: they will check your ID immediately, so be sure to have that handy. All 6 of us were able to grab a high top table to accommodate us, server was friendly & quick to check ID’s and take our drink orders as we checked out the menu. I decided to get the Brat Burger: very tasty, nicely grilled peppers & onions with the tasty brat burger with delicious mustard on top. Good sized, comes with fries and curry ketchup. Another popular dish at the table was the Pork Shank: gigantic pork shank with bountiful meat on the bone. Comes with spaetzel(sp) and red cabbage. Was able to get a few bites of this, this was a pretty mean pork shank, super flavorful and hearty! Definitely enough for a couple of meals or you can save the bone to ward off strangers. Great atmosphere, nice selection of brews, and pretty tasty food. I’m not in SLU area very much but definitely a place I would come back to. Service was fine, no issues and pricing is what I expected. Will have to try their HH next time and see what that is about.

So I came here before I went to Berlin and I had the Schweinshaxen(ham hock) then when I came here, so I was looking for it in Berlin. Unfortunately I didn’t find any schweinshaxen in Berlin, so I had to come back to Seattle to get it again here. It was just as good as I remembered it. With beer. I have to say, the Schweinshaxen is pretty salty though, but it’s delicious if you wash it down with beer. It’s $ 17 and takes a bit of time to prepare, but it’s definitely shareable because it’s huge. Since I’ve only had the Schweinshaxen here, I’ll definitely have to come back and try their bratwurst! I love the atmosphere of this place. Not that it has that authentic German bar feel, but it tries. Regardless, the people here are friendly, even though the servers might get a while to get to you. They have a variety of beers on tap, but you can definitely ask for tasters before settling on one. Oh and this place is a great place to bring friends! They have a TV here so you can always watch a Hawks game here too ;)

Let’s start off with I am German and like to think I know what I am talking about when it comes to German food. It was very bland and the service was less than good. Our food also took forever. This was my first experience there. My second«experience» topped it all off. I went there to meet a group of about 15 people. I had recently lost my USID, so brought my German ID and expired US passport with me just in case. I was hoping that since my German ID is valid and has a picture of me, it would work with my expired passport. Well, it didn’t. I thought it was VERY ironic to get kicked out of a German pub for only having a German ID… Definitely not ever going back there again, even though it’s right around the corner.

This place has a great vibe to it — very German without being kitschy. The food is phenomenal. I had the jaegerschnitzl and wow, delicious. The cucumber salad, red cabbage, and spaetzl are all wonderful as well. And you can’t go wrong with a full list of traditional German beers!

Feierabend has me in their clutches. The punch cards have already made me an alcoholic and I sneak in for lunches whenever I can. But hey, at least if I spend thousands of $$$ on beer here I get my own stein locker?! Shtein. Dis ist meine shtein! But seriously I adore the specials and buy the Chicken Adobo Salad and Salmon Caesar whenever they have it. If you’re a food eating champ get the schweinshaxen! Kasespatzel is delish too. Favorite beers here are Veltins and Zwick’l Kellerbier.

Man, so bummed that this place seems to be going down hill. Still great service but the food, man it really just sucked. The pretzel which used to be excellent was hard and stale, it’s like t was frozen, freezer burned, thawed then toasted too long. My pops sausage plate looked gross, but I didn’t say anything to him, he complained about half way through that they just weren’t good anymore and were dry. I agree, at least by the looks. The fries were still good but that’s about it. I hate to say it, but in future we will skip stopping here and head up the hill to Rhein Haus.

Very pub-like, as you might expect. The décor is spot on, and the service is nice if a bit harried. I’ve been here a couple of times now, but always because someone else wanted to try their extensive European beer collection, or their sausage-y meats. Neither of which are high on my priority list unfortunately! I’m a cocktail drinking vegetarian…

I only stopped in for the beer. Some part of the restuarant was closed for a pub crawl. They had soccer on the tv. I hope you like Good German beers because theirs doesnt disappoint. I wasnt hungry but perused the food menu. And i seen someone order something that looked so good. It looked like chicken. I will have to come back and get filled up on beer and food.

Whilst visiting Seattle for a long weekend trip during October, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to miss drinking German beers for Oktoberfest. Of course, I trusted my handy Unilocal app and I was directed to check this place out! Thanks to great reviews and scoping out the menu, I went ahead and ordered two different types of beers. I’m not going to lie, the food was pricey than I had anticipated but the beer sure made up for the taste. I was a happy camper! I was sad I had missed their happy hour but the service, laidback ambiance, and a king sized jug of beer to start off my late afternoon of festivities left me satisfied. Would I come back? Sure as hell I will! :)

Thoughts from a dude from elsewhere: I can understand why this place is popular in the area. With a wide variety of imported German beers(all in their properly designed glassware), an off-the-beaten-path menu, and a relaxed, dark interior, Feierabend indisputably boasts many of the characteristics desirable in a Friday or Saturday night spot. But… FOOD: The food is miserably expensive for such miserable fare. An overfried schnitzel patty served on an overly dry, overly bready, else untreated and texture-less hunk of roll accompanied by fries befitting Jack in the Box in terms of both taste and texture? The poor quality demonstrated here doesn’t point to my ordering exactly wrong thing on the menu. It doesn’t suggest that the bar had an off night. Rather, it illustrates quite concretely a lack of attention to quality of ingredients and quality of preparation from the top down. Avoid the food here. SERVICE: The service is poorly coordinated. Some combination of six different individuals seemed responsible for a combination of tables and bar stools without any clear delineation and without any greeting of customers at the door despite the definite restaurant vibe and the somewhat confusing seating setup of the establishment. Better delineation of responsibilities appears essential. ATMOSPHERE: As I mentioned in my introduction, most of the joint is sufficiently dark to be quite attractive. That said, a few issues detract. 1) Unforgivably poor lighting in immediate proximity to the exposed kitchen. 2) Confusing seating(overly large tables fitting multiple parties that may inadvertently expose you to undesirable conversations). 3) Hair-thin aisles in which servers must move twixt. Bumps and jostles should be expected. VERDICT: Drinks only. But given lack of proximity to other high quality venues, I’d opt to avoid it altogether. 2 stars for food 2 stars for service 3 stars for atmosphere 5 stars for drinks 3 stars overall

I’m a fan of the location because of the parking situation. There’s plenty of street parking and it’s stop paying after 6PM vs 8PM like many other locations in and around Seattle! I actually parked right outside for free. Maybe it was a one time score. I can’t speak much on the food since I didn’t order any. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of German food, but was meeting a friend who chose the location. They have a pretty good selection on beer. Bartenders were prompt. Place was pretty busy. They have a few outside seats too. That is all I have to say.
