Don’t forget to come for their November 1st Dia de los muertos celebrations. A great place to meet cool Latinos. Bring your kids you will have an amazing time. Oh and they have free food!

I recently had an opportunity to volunteer with El Centro to help them prepare for their Annual Auction Gala. I didn’t know much about El Centro’s work before I went and was there more to support my friend who was leading a project there. I was really impressed by their 3-storied work building that houses a myriad range of community and social services work, anything from human services, social justice advocacy to affordable healthcare, education and immigrants skills building program. While I was there I also had an opportunity to speak and interact with El Centro’s current executive director and staff and was quite impressed by the passion and the level of commitment they have for El Centro’s causes. Even though their programs may appear to gear towards Hispanic/Latino/Chico community, it’s really a multi-cultural place for people of all backgrounds. You don’t have to be Hispanic/Latino/Chico to visit this place and, really, everyone is welcome there(I’m not one, for example.). El Centro does offer tours regularly, so it’s a good way to check out the different work that they do and see if you might be intersted in further supporting them. I took some time to browse through the different offices they house on all of their floors and it was really interesting to read and see all the amazing work that happens inside this building. I also checked out one affordable acupuncture services inside this building with really good ratings briefly… which I think I’m planning on checking the place out some time in the future as well.
