EJ burger is a small hole in the wall place on the Ave. I always get the bulgogi burger. Granted it’s messy, but it’s rich in sweet bulgogi flavor and saucy. Fries are just average. The order usually takes a while, especially when it’s busy so be prepared, it’s not a quick in and out.

One of the best burgers in Seattle. The orange sauce can’t be replicated anywhere else

I ordered a Texas burger and to be honest it was delicious. It didn’t drip and wasn’t sloppy; I also ordered the garlic fries, and they were oversalted to oblivion. My friend also ordered the chicken nuggets, and they were cold in the middle! Thankfully, the workers made us a new batch of fries and nuggets. Sadly, the fries were still too salty. At that point I was too lazy to ask for another batch. Note to guests: burgers are bomb, but stay away from everything else!

We were here for the first time the other night. It was after a show at the Neptune, so it was probably around 11:30pm on a Thursday. It was pretty busy but the food didn’t take long to be ready. I got the basic hamburger and it was stupid delicious! House sauce, pickle, tomato, onion, and lettuce. It’s a big burger on a good size bun. It held up pretty well as I ate it, which was nice. Nothing is worse than eating a delicious burger and you can’t eat the last half due to a squishy mess of a bun. My husband had the UW burger. It’s same as above but with cheese and an onion ring. He said it was the best burger patty he had ever had. It was moist but had a crunchy exterior. We didn’t get the onion rings or fries, but they looked incredible! All made fresh to order and generous portions.

Definitely much better than Caliburger across the street. These burgers are big, juicy, and delicious. Their House sauce is also bomb. Ask for some on the side to to dip your fries in! Talking about fries, they give you a plentiful amount and they always come out nice and crispy as well. My first time here, I ate inside, but after that, I prefer to just get my orders to-go. As others have mentioned, this place isn’t the cleanest around, but their awesome burgers make up for it. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try!

If your craving a burger and are debating whether to go to caliburger or ej. This is a better choice at a better price. Better choices for burger options.

WOW! The burger I had was fantastic. They have this sauce that’s a mix between fry sauce & honey mustard that they use on the burgers & for dipping sauce. The burger was juicy & the string fries weren’t burnt. They had Wi-Fi & the menu is simple. Even open late for the college lifestyle. I’m definitely coming back.

While I still feel that this place has some of the best burgers in Seattle, I have to downgrade my rating based on the cleanliness of the restaurant. I ate there yesterday, and the dirtiness of the place was appalling. I get that it’s the Ave, but it’s past that point even. Even though I love the burgers, I won’t return until it gets cleaned up.

I’m sorry, I’m just not getting this great vibe most people get from this place. I’m editing my review. The owner was kind enough to reach out to me and apologize. I feel that’s indicative of superb management. Earnestly what irked my date were cleanliness issues. The floor needs some TLC and the ketchup and mustard dispensers could use some clean up. The bathroom needs some elbow grease. This place has great potential, I just feel the staff are neglecting their cleaning duties. I’ll definitely return in the near future to reevaluate.

I arrived 11:30pm of a friday, they started to clean everything, closed the reataurant and turned the lights off before I finish my food. It was 11:58pm and the lights were turned off and everyone was sitting and waiting for us to go out. such a disrespect! if you stay open until midnight, some people will arrive at 11:30, get their food at 11:45 and eat until 12:15 at least. the fries were cold and the burger was just ok. they were too hurried to make a good burger. ps.: there is a sign wrote with blue pen saying that after 11:30 the food is only to go. but nobody told me anything and the I could not see the small letters handwritten at the sign at the door.

A lot of people like this place but personally there are better options fairly close by. Pros: Tasty Food Big Menu Cons: Building is gross The burgers are really greasy I recommend Mr. Lu’s or Rain City Burgers.

The burgers were amazing, especially the Hawaiian. The waffle fries were too. My fish was a bit over cooked but the portion huge. Service was fast. Atmosphere: hole in the wall.

This is probably my favorite burger place on The Ave. I lived in Texas for four years, so every once in a while, I have to give into my burger cravings. It’s not something that just goes away. The first thing you’ll notice is that EJ is pretty small. And rather grimy. Don’t sit at the back, because it’s always got a bit of an odd smell to it. It’s pretty much the definition of a hole in the wall place. But boy is it good. So far, I’ve had the surf and turf(burger with two prawns), UW burger(cheeseburger with two onion rings and HOUSESAUCEOMGTHEHOUSESAUCE), and the fish n chips. All were amaaaaazing. Prawns are beautifully breaded and meld delightfully with the juicy patty. The house sauce is pretty much the best thing ever-it’s some sort of tangy sweet and sour sauce type thing. And the fish n chips… oh man. You probably only need the two piece because they are GIGANTIC and sit on a veritable mountain of fries. It comes with a salad, which honestly isn’t much to write home about, but the house tartar sauce is just outstanding. It has just a little bit of a kick to it, and pairs well with the fish and the fries. It’s a great place to go to get your fix of things greasy and hot, and everything’s in the 6 – 10 dollar range. Cheap, fast, and delicious – what more could you want?

For a burger place, this joint rocks it! My friend and I were up in Seattle recently and had a long trip back home to Portland, so we decided that since it was late we needed dinner. Found this place on the Unilocal app on my phone and it had a high star rating, so we decided to try it. I’m definitely glad we did! You know the pictures that Burger Sling and McDoogles show of a nice, plump, juicy burger with nice, red tomatoes, beautiful lettuce, and fluffy buns you see on their adverts? Then you make the mistake of going in and having one of those smashed, overheated puppies and boy, what a disappointment! This place, the beef is Angus and it doesn’t taste frozen(yes, you can tell), lettuce & tomatoes are fresh, the sauce is really tasty and the fries are to die for, too. The place was clean, well-lighted, and I loved their idea of napkins! You know the paper ones you usually get in restaurants that are probably purchased from Costco that shred the second you use them? They don’t use those here!(I’m cracking up sitting here remembering it, hehe.) They have an automatic paper towel dispenser mounted on the wall next to the pop dispenser, you know, the kind you see in bathrooms. Those don’t shred and they last! I love it! Well, we left EJ’s with our appetites satisfied. Oh, while the food was served with all speed, it’s definitely not«fast food.» No wait service and you bus your own table, but again, it’s a burger joint — what do you expect? I will definitely go back when I’m in the area. I highly recommend it.

Sometimes people in the street come up to me and kick me in the shins after walking out of EJs. They whisper in my ear«hey nerd, you’re a dumb loser.» You know why? Because they like Caliburger more than EJs. But you know the kind of people who like Caliburger more than EJs? Bullies. People who lost their tastebuds in weird accidents involving their tongue. The kind of people who suck their fingers and loudly smack their lips while eating something. You know what Unilocal?I’m not having it anymore. EJs tastes so good that I’ve probably spent a solid quarter of tuition’s worth on burgers here, and it’s all worth it. All I want is one of them fly purple polos that the employees wear so I can rep this classy burger establishment on the daily around town. Maybe I’ll still get kicked in the shins by bullies, but at least I’ll go down with style doing it

My favorite burger place on the Ave! I’ve been religiously going here for the 4 years I attended undergrad and have never had a complaint.(I have of course tried most every other burger place on the Ave as well) Food is always fresh, but beware, their house sauce is very messy! They provide plenty of napkins though. Highly recommend!

After our concert got out at The Neptune, we asked the Unilocal app what’s good to eat nearby and still open after 10pm? Well hello there EJ Burger! Definitely a hotspot for students as this is located about a block away from the UW campus on The Ave. I probably would’ve lived here if EJ’s was around when I was in school! Great menu with lots of options — their specialty is burgers! I ordered the #18 garden burger tonight and it was excellent! Delicious garden burger patty topped with lettuce, tomatoes and onions that are so fresh you’d think they just picked them in a garden out back about 5 minutes ago! They are quite generous with the melted cheese and that creamy honey house dressing is lovely! I have my eye on the Hawaiian burger to try next time! My husband and I shared a side order of the curly fries because portions are huge! Everything was cooked to order and you can watch them make it all through the counter glass right in front of you. Kind of cool! Well staffed, the service time from order to serving was fast and very efficient. The kitchen crew was friendly and helpful with our menu questions. This place definitely has a fun vibe and a lot going for it! Definitely a fun place to eat and people watch. There were people of all ages there but most were definitely in the 20 – 30 age range. Lots of interesting accents and snip its of conversations as people walk by– it’s a small dining area downstairs by the kitchen and registers with another balcony dining area upstairs. The disappointing thing was the restroom. My first clue should have been the restroom key which is required to get in. It’s attached to a red plastic basket hanging on the wall between the kitchen and the fountain drinks machine. The restroom was dingy and filthy. No seat covers — the dispenser was out. And graffiti everywhere you look just about: some on the wall, covering the trash can, and even on the mirror? It was just ugly. The floor was sticky, the sink was dirty– I felt like my hands were probably cleaner before I went in. Would like to give this place 4 stars… but frankly with a restroom like this, 3 stars is kind of a stretch. Overheard quote of the night: «Like, this is a super cute place man.» Yes it is.
