I stop in here almost every day. The owner, Chris, is hilarious once you get to know him. Prices are reasonable, and the sandwiches are good. And there’s beer.

I’ve bought everything here from dinner to batteries. It’s very convenient, cozy, and the employees are friendly. At first, I thought it was expensive but then I realized Seattle is just expensive.

God, I used to go here every freaking day in Grad School. I should have been a better person and brought my own snacks from home, but it never happened. So, egg salad sandwiches, diet coke and carrot sticks were my friends here at the easy shoppe. When I returned to finish up a grad certificate and all my classes were still in Gould, I would go over during my seminar break just to get me some of that Erin’s popcorn I could have gotten at Bartells for way cheaper. They got rid of the deli I think, but that used to be a haunt of many my undergrad friends.

Easy Shoppe is definitely the coziest grocery shop I’ve found on the Ave. The location helps, being right across the street from campus and right next to Bean & Bagel. It’s pretty tiny, and it’s the same guy in there every day. I forget his name, but he’s pretty cordial and we wrote him a get-well note when we found a sign on the door one Monday saying that the shop would be closed because he was sick. The big cookies here, though $ 1.25, are pretty tasty. The smaller chocolate chip cookies are only 15 cents each, an awesome deal, though they are a bit chilled. If I’m feeling cheap, sometimes I’ll go here to grab a quick lunch. Microwaves and plastic utensils are provided. Once Alex Walton and I bought a crunch bar from Easy Shoppe and put it in the tip jar at Bean & Bagel next door.
