They’re coffee is great! But costumer service is crappy. There’s one particular barista that is always rude. Has preferred customers, and borderline discriminatory. Do not recommend if customer service is as important to you as it is to me.

Venturing around the Ave, I stumbled upon Bean & Bagel with an empty belly for some simple breakfast options. The inside is relatively spacious in the back with one or two tables considering how small it looked from the outside. There is also a little coffee stand opening at the front of the store for when it gets too packed in the store or for coffee pick up! The service was a bit iffy; the ladies there seemed a bit reserved, agitated and rushed. It left me feeling a little like the same. I decided on an Ursula, which consisted of the Everything bagel with turkey, cream cheese, marionberry, swiss and lettuce. It didn’t take long at all for me to receive my breakfast bagel, which is always nice; nobody wants to talk to a hangry gal! The Ursula bagel was quite delicious! I really enjoyed the combination of the sweetness of the jam with cream cheese along with the saltiness of the turkey and cheese! I would recommend trying the Ursula above anything else if you, like me, have trouble deciding on what to eat 99% of the time. It definitely filled me up! Case of hangry syndrome successfully closed. Cheers to the weekend!

Based on bagels alone I would have given this place 4 stars. The coffee is good, location good and the bagels are usually fresh and quality ingredients. My problem is with the little girl who on weekdays is the one toasting, spreading cream cheese, and otherwise preparing the bagels for customers. No only does she have s**t look on her face and refuses to smile, but when I say«thank you» and look her in the eye she replies«yeah». She doesn’t even look up. This has happened twice now while this little stuck up girl means nothing to me, a little curtesy goes a long way with customer service. If you are the nice lady, who I assume is the owner, I recommend thinking twice about who you hire. Ever watch the show Portlandia? This place reminds me of the shop«Women and Women First». Too much estrogen, basic b**ch wear, and wool for me.

I don’t know what people have against this place! The bagel was delicious, the coffee good, the service totally fine. I had a bagel with cream cheese and egg, which was yummy, and a coffee that came in a cute mug j picked out myself since it wasn’t to go. I’ll be back here– thought it was great!

Best bagels that I know of in the U-district. I’ve tried the«Ursula»(from list of employee’s faovrites) and created my own combos: tomato, cream cheese(CC), and capers is what I usually get. With a wheat bagel. They taste very fresh, crunchy on the outside soft and chewy on the inside. Yum :)

Their coffee is fantastic, and their bagels are some of the best I’ve found in Seattle. I will continue to eat here ~once/week. That said, a couple of their workers are often rude and consistently forget toppings(that cost extra!) on my sandwiches. For instance, today when my sandwich was ready the girl said«Lox,» and I raised my hand and asked«with tomatoes and cucumbers, right?» She said«yeah» and basically threw the sandwich on the counter. When I opened it in my office, I noticed that it did not have cucumbers. Ugh. Not a big deal, but disappointing. This is not true of everyone who works there — most(the ones I see working most often) are really nice — but it is a shame to know that sometimes I’m going to get a mediocre sandwich.

As noted in other reviews, service is sub-par. Their sandwich, a bit overpriced and messy to eat.

Although they have odd hours, they have very good coffee and other drinks like a chai tea latte. I would definitely go here again. Good prices and atmosphere. In my opinion, better than the Husky grind.

This place is my jam for a $ 5 lunch: egg and cheese bagel with dijon, capers and red onion.

Update: I haven’t had their drip in forever, but their iced lattes are really good. I also like that it’s open at 6:30AM.

I have simple tastes when it comes to breakfast/brunch. Espresso is consistent, and I love my toasted bialys with a generous dose of cream cheese. Service is great for regulars, and I never stay to eat. The more filled bagel sandwiches can get messy to eat.

Their coffee is always fantastic. No over-cooked milk, no burnt shots, no overly sweet drinks to cover up mistakes. I love the coffee here!

So apathetic, they just give you what they guess you want without listening to your order. Coffee is HORRIBLE. Not just for Seattle, for coffee in general. I can’t stand having to specify DONOTTOASTMYBAGEL, SINCE I AMNOTASKINGFOR A TOASTINGBAGEL… and then getting handed a toasted bagel. Not only that, but the damn toppings weren’t even exactly what I asked for. It isn’t a FAVOR to be making someone food when that person is PAYING for the service. So, this company should actually start performing the service.

I love the bagel breakfast sandwiches. They’re filling, tasty, and you can change em up how you’d like. I do wish they had bacon though, but ham is still great. The coffee is fine– I always expect a little better than what I end up with, but I do tend to have high expectations. It gets me through the day and the pricing is reasonable. I’ve never had a great experience interacting with the staff. They are busy and it’s clear that they’re concerned about getting the line through more than they are connecting with the customer. I dont like feeling like a burden when I’m paying for a product, so for that I take a star. The other star is taken for the seating arrangement. If I’m here earlier, nobody is really sitting, so I can just go hide at a table and enjoy my sandwich and coffee. But around mid morning/early lunch, it gets significantly busier and crowded. There’s a little bar which is where I end up, but people are crowding inside so I feel like I’m in the way or an inconvenience because I want to sit. The way the store is set up(like actually constructed with the walls and all) it might be difficult to make the seating much different, but still. I might go to Starbucks over here just because of the more options for seating. Overall, I’m happy to support a local business. And I’ll be back. Just my two cents!

today i went to bean and bagel. Definitely you have to work around the corner if you dont know where the place it is. It is right in the middle of block on 40th between uni and 15th. you can order either from street side or from inside the store. i got regular coffe and a bagel with cream cheese when i asked for a strabbery cream cheese they were confused and asked me if i want straberry jam with the cream cheese. i got it that they only have one cream cheese so if you are used to ny bagel might be a shocker. bagels are comparitively smaller. I did enjoy the bagel i had. It was rightly toasted and their cream cheese was tasty enough to give me the ny flavor. coffee was regular and nothing special for or against it. they do take credit card. The ambience is ok for an bagel store but i have been to places with better interior. three points full for food two down for lack of choice and ambience

I love this little coffee shop! I visit this place at least three times a week, and have no intention of slowing my roll. The staff is friendly, the coffee tasty, and the bagel sandwiches always hit the spot when my stomach is empty in the AM! The Stefanie and Cinzia bagel sandwiches are my favorites. Go in and get somethin’ :)

My family and I were visiting Seattle from California. We went to this bagel place hoping to get a quick bite before starting our day. The 3 ladies working there were so rude. that they started our day on a bad note. One lady kept looking at me up and down with a disgusting stare. She also threw the bagels on the counter. My sister found hair in her bagel. I said thank you twice and no one said anything back… They didn’t even look up to acknowledge me. Do not go here!!! They will ruin your day with their attitude and mediocre food.

Bean and Bagel is awesome. Best place to get a hot breakfast FAST — my favorite is a toasted plain bagel with cheddar cheese and ham, hot. This takes like 2min to make and it’s amazeballs. Wash it down with coffee, and that’s an instantly great start to the day, all for $ 5.66. Also the girls that work here are cute. :)

This place is my favorite stop over in the morning for a coffee and a bagel. Would I call it fancy? No, but that’s just what I’m looking for. I love a good hole-in-the-wall establishment, especially when I’m just grabbing a bite on the run. I love the bagels, and there are a ton of different options to choose from. The coffee is strong and that staff have always been super nice. This is a great place and I definitely recommend stopping in.

If you like service when you’re ordering food, you might want to avoid this place. Both times I’ve been here, the people at the cashier were less than friendly. They seem like they really don’t like their jobs, or are just tired of the same shit day in and day out. Either way, you’re not getting any smiles with your order. Previously, I ordered an Americano which, although way hotter than it should have been, lasted me through the afternoon(and was still better than Starbucks, yay!). Today, I ordered an Onion bagel with Hummus & Lox. First, it came out to $ 6 — which is totally not worth the cost. Fortunately, all their other bagels are in the $ 3 – 4 range, which isn’t so bad. The lox was a peach color, and if you know anything about great lox it should be a bright reddish orange. So that was disappointing. And despite my bagel coming out a little burnt, it was perfect. And the hummus was amazing(I like mine to have a strong garlic-y taste)! It’s great as a snack between classes, but honestly? I would’ve rather spent my money on something a little better on the Ave. It’s not a total disappointment, however. TL;DR: 4⁄5 for the bagel, 2⁄5 for the service.
