One of the best chocolate café in town!!! Nothing like it and the customer service is just as sweet as the pastries, cakes, cookies, and coffee drinks!!! I was not a fan of he lemon bar, but not surprised because chocolate is their specialty. Carrot cake, chocolate raspberry cake, chocolate truffle cake, all were delightful! As for specialty drinks I thought the white chocolate mocha was the best that I have had the white chocolate actually tasted like creamy real white chocolate! I seek out chocolates and bakeries all very Seattle and this is 1 of my favorites!!!

There’s nothing like Dilettante — nothing. They have the best coffee and absolutely the best mochas anywhere. I kind of wish though that they’d have more sit down space like Café Ladro’s do so we can hang a bit and BS. I also wish they had better baked goods. I also wish there were more Dilettantes in the area — lots more. Still, this is a Mocha Café and that’s what we go here for and they’re the best.

The Hippie Cookie is delicious, satisfying, AND it lets me feel like I’m eating something healthy. I’m here because my boss is too snooty for Peets. Everyone is happy!

Dirty espresso machine, never cleans the steam wand and horrible customer service. The bathroom is always stinky and the truffles are terrible. You can get better chocolate at bartell drugs

Stopped in for their mexican hot chocolate(can’t remember the exact name) as a latte. It was nice, but not very richly flavored — it tasted mostly like a mocha, I couldn’t find the chili, cinnamon, or vanilla flavors. The location is convenient to my work and the prices seem reasonable, and service is polite. I’ll have to stop in sometime for a piece of chocolate!

This place smells like chocolate the moment you walk in the door! I had walked by it many times on my way to work and decided to finally give it a try; I am glad I did. I had a tall, iced Efemere Mocha and it was delicious! Besides coffee drinks, they also sell artisan chocolates which I have yet to try. They look heavenly, though. The store is clean, the baristas are knowledgeable and attentive, and the prices are reasonable. Definitely a place for chocolate connoisseurs to enjoy.

This bougie coffee bar is unique because they serve mochas and hot chocolate with different % dark chocolates — from white to super dark to truffle. I like that they offer almond milk but found even at 62% dark my mocha was way too sweet. I came back for the 80%+ mocha but even that with regular milk was too sweet so next time I might ask for less chocolate. Sizing is strange too: they have a tall(12oz), grande, and x-grande but they also have an unlisted 8 oz «small» just to make sure not to be confused with Starbucks. A tall by the way has only a single shot and goes for ~$ 3 depending on what you order. Overall, cute coffee shop that sells a bunch of interesting truffles and chocolates. Next time I’ll go for the extra dark in hopes of finding something less sweet. Free wifi: passcode is hotchocolate

Your local chocolatier who just happens to also serve delicious cocktails, desserts, & a bit of nosh. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is because of the food & service. Don’t get me wrong, both are good, but the bartender took a bit of prodding to get her to open up & speak/give suggestions. The two dishes I ordered were happy hour chicken skewers & hummus. I requested no onions & had to send the skewers back. Honest mistake & they made it right immediately. The hummus was a bit dry & grainy. Happy hour lasts until 7(a rarity in this neighborhood) so I’ll be back to try more in the future!

I was sad when the Dilettante in Westlake Center closed, but at least this one is nearby. This café is located on the bottom floor of a large office building. It’s a bit out of the way from most of the shops downtown, but it’s worth walking a few extra blocks to.(Plus, you can burn off calories doing that, and then have room for another truffle!) In addition to a variety of mocha options(with five chocolates to choose from, ranging from white to extra dark), this café has a variety of pastries, chocolates, and CAKE. Mmmm, caaaake… Most of the food options here are sweet, but they do have sandwiches also. The sandwiches are a couple bucks more than a similar option at Starbucks, but they are made by a local company and are tasty. Plus this is downtown, and everything’s usually a bit more expensive downtown. This is another review that’s making me drool while I write it. Mmmm… chocolate…

The coffee is great, however one of the staff members is not very clean. I watched her empty a trash can and then return to the register and deal with food without washing heathlands between. Although I did not witness other incidents, my coworkers informed me of other things she had done as well.

This place is like dessert in a cup. I want to give them four and a half stars because their mochas and hot chocolate really stand out from neighboring coffee shops. Think of it as a decadent treat for days when you need a pick-me-up or you want to reward yourself… uh oh, did my reasoning just cover most of your days? Guess this place is good for everything. Prices are pricier… but it seems like an arduous task to find a cheap mocha in downtown Seattle. I’ve tried some of their pastries including a blueberry scone and croissant. Nothing about them really stands out. They could swap them with Starbucks and I honestly wouldn’t know. My only thumbs down quality of this place are the hours. I like coffee shops that are open later(than 5 pm).

I expected a hot chocolate from here that would be similar to something I’d have in Paris, with real melted chocolate. But the hot chocolate was actually a powdered concotion with melted chocolate added. Definitely not as good as I expected. I also tried a mocha(coffee) and although it was good, I’ve had better.

Delicious! We were suggested this by someone working at the hotel we were staying at, and we got the strawberry chantilly and Black Forest cakes. The location was adorable, and lit with candles. The neighborhood sort of reminded me of South Street — lots of stores and oh so many college aged kids. Great dessert and definitely a place to stop in to.

I love the hot coco here! I love the ephemera chocolate or the mexican hot coco. Its alittle smaller then the other Dilettante’s I have been too. But good for a quick drink with a friend. I want to got back and try a treat sometime. Glad to have somewhere downtown for great hot coco!

Cute, little new-ish Dilettante on the North end of downtown. I was in the area the other day and decided to give it a try. The Dilettante in Rainer Square used to make my fav lattes but the quality really went downhill a few years back( ). Then I recently tried to go to the one in Westlake Center( ), only to discover that the mall and almost everything in it is pretty much closed( ). So I was excited to try this location. The girls working were a little too chatty amongst themselves, but they were friendly enough. There weren’t many customers which surprised me given that it was before 10am, but that meant I didn’t have to spend much time waiting. But what’s really important is my drink and I am happy to report that my iced caramel non-fat latte was just as good as the ones I used to get! This is exactly the sort of coffee shop I’m gonna miss when I leave Seattle. I’m hanging onto my punch card!

I’m actually a tad disappointed I don’t get to post the review I had originally intended. It was written in the format of an open letter to Dilettante Management. After a friendly greeting, I told them how much I love their product — particularly the Extra Dark Hot Chocolate.(I don’t drink coffee, so I don’t do mochas.) I complimented the almost universally friendly, efficient staff at this location.(There was one exception to this: a barista who always seemed to be more interested in taking cigarette breaks than actually making drinks. But, I went on, «you appeared to have told her that if she so much prefers being outside the premises than in, she can stay out permanently.» I further complimented their good move on that one.) The problem, my open letter went on, is, of late, they did not seem to be staffed particularly well. It seemed every time I went in, which was often for a mid-afternoon break, there was always only one person working. I would find a line of six or eight people, while a lone worker was behind the counter — taking orders, grabbing pastries, grabbing money, and making drinks. These folks always seemed to do this with a calmness I’m not sure I could must muster under the circumstances. Customers always seemed to patient and understanding as well. Still, I thought, there’s got to be a better way. I explained to them how they, Dilettante Management, had struck gold! They were smack dab in the middle of Amazonia! What was once a relatively quiet end of downtown was suddenly swarming with Blue Badgers. My letter went on: «And, Amazon employees, in case you don’t know, always seem to travel in packs. This somewhat befuddles we non-Amazon employees in the area. But, you, Dilettante Management, should be thrilled! This means you’re not going to get one or two people stopping into your shop at a time. You’re going to get six. Or eight. Or ten. Great for sales! But all the more reason you might want to re-think your post-morning rush staffing strategy.» I had this written, but the review sat in my draft folder a tad too long. So, I had to go back to do some recon to confirm it was still true. And, finding two people working behind the counter one Friday afternoon around 3:00, I had to go back yet again to confirm my findings.(That was only doing good research and had nothing to do with the fact that I had to buy a grande Extra Dark Hot Chocolate at each visit.) On my second visit, I again found two people working behind the counter. There was a bit of a line, but it was moving quite smoothly. And, so, this 72% fan can no longer post the review as it had originally been written because the issues discussed in it appear to have been resolved. Like I said, a tad disappointing — because it was a damn fine review. But, also a happy turn of events. I really have no reason to not go back even more often now. For research purposes, of course.

Good stuff, Maynard! It was the end of a work day, and I was doing my banking at Watermark Credit Union, when I spotted this café. I thought, «hey, sexy chocolate, you’re gonna be mine!» I walked into this heaven of yumminess, and wasn’t disappointed. There were chocolates at the counter, pastries to behold, and a nice selection of sandwiches and deli fare from Gretchen’s in the case. I checked out the menu and noticed a sugar-free selection that was available. I ordered a sugar-free iced mocha along with a ham and Swiss croissant from the case. I was most impressed by the service, the wonderful coffee artiste offered extra condiments for my sandwich, and praised my choice! I am a purist, so decided to keep the sandwich as-is. But, when I placed my coffee order, I was so excited to see the happiness on her face! She was excited to make my drink — now, to me that’s good service. Sometimes sugar-free iced options of specialty chocolate products can be a bit of a challenge to make, so it was great that she was so enthusiastic. The drink came out perfect. The chocolate was better than expected, and the coffee was the perfect partner, making the chocolate not too sweet and the coffee not too bitter. My sandwich was perfect, with a nice flaky croissant(and the croissant wasn’t too big, which made me happy as well) and the ham was sweet and smoky. I will definitely return the next time I do my banking! Good coffee, good atmosphere, and such friendly people! Yay, Dilettante — you’ve made a believer out of me!

Best mocha/coffee hands down! This is after all their specialty. Waked by this place and made a U turn. It looks inviting from the outside. Well placed chairs and tables. Not crowded at all. There was a couple when we walked in. The girl behind the counter was very patient and explained to us their menu on the board. They specify how much cocoa you will get with what order. My first order was a hot chocolate called the Ephemere with 52% cocoa. Tall was $ 2+ It was awesome! We decided to linger and try other drinks on their menu. We were not disappointed! Awesome! Can’t wait to visit them again on my next trip to Seattle!

This is a newly opened branch of Dilettante on Stewart. I was pretty happy to see another alternative to sbux! This is a smaller shop but still very cute and cozy. They have a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your drinks as well as plenty of interesting and yummy looking chocolates. I have stopped in a few times and everything I have tried has been good and the workers always friendly. A nice place to grab a cup ‘o joe if you are in the neighborhood!
