High school was pretty shitty, but Dick’s was good. College was cool, and we had this one class presentation where the«client» brought in Dick’s and made us eat it. I’m 99% sure that it was to fatten us up before she destroyed us. Sort of a dick move, but it’s probably more common than I’d guess, especially behind closed doors. And I didn’t mind. Even though the pressure was palpable, eating Dick’s feels like holding onto a tire in an ocean full of garbage. Probably helps with surviving puberty too. OHHAIAREYOUHAPPYTODAYIT’S A GOOOODDAY* *if you’re eating Dick’s **Yeah this review is trash, but if you’re actually on Unilocal looking up reviews for Dick’s, then I don’t know what to tell ya. Strong 4 outta 5

I’ve had them twice now. Their burgers honestly just… kinda taste like fast food burgers to me. If you need something quick, cheap and doesn’t taste bad they’re alright. The place usually has long lines. Kinda disappointed.

I’ve eaten here out of desperation a few times, but I can’t recommend Dick’s to you. The beef has an odd texture, the fries are limp and they nickel and dime customers for condiments. They don’t do refills, they don’t customize, and cash only. The lines are often long and the prices are low(which does make one wonder about the quality of the source beef). However, they always move the line quickly. It’s not bad. It’s just meh. Dick’s appears to appeal for mainly two reasons: its reputation(in business for many years) and location. Their products– especially the burgers– are nothing special or deluxe, despite the menu’s characterization. Great option if you need a quick bite late at night. But, don’t waste your money on lunch given the many other affordable options in the area. You get much better burgers at nearby bars, where they also serve beer!

I wanted to love it. Must be a local thing. I moved here a few months ago and everyone told me I just HAD to eat at Dick’s. I heard from many locals about how wonderful it is. My first meal there resulted in a dry, burnt hamburger with slimy lettuce. The fries were cold, soggy and lacked salt. I would have given it minus stars if I could. I was already half way walking home, or I would have returned the entire meal. After several people told me that was very atypical, I finally decided to try it again. This time, the burger was cooked perfectly and the toppings were spot on, but it was nothing special. The fries upgraded to lukewarm and soggy, and still lacked any seasoning. Although, I do enjoy fries with the potato skins on, so they had that going for them. The best part of my meal was the root beer float. I can see the nostalgia locals feel from their childhoods. Frankly, it’s not much better than a national chain fast food burger. I realize it’s a Drive Up restaurant, but in a city that encourages walking and biking, a bench would be nice for those of us using non personal vehicles. I ended up sitting on the curb eating my meal along with four other groups of people sitting or standing in the parking lot. Would I eat there again? Probably in a pinch. However with the lack of consistent cooking and seasoning, it’s unlikely.

Was told that Dick’s is the place to go when you have the late night muchies. Maybe I wasn’t hungry enough, but we tried it just to try for not being from around the area and it wasn’t anything too special. The burgers are pretty simple, a little on the oily side but the shake was good! It was easy to drink and not too thick. I guess because I’m from California, I have In N Out to compare it too but for the price and super quick service, Dick’s is what it is!

The fried chicken on Dick’s secret menu reminds you of simpler times. The crispy and well-battered skin, succulent yet firm meat, and juicy tenderness of the breast brings back so many memories of sharing and cheering during baseball games. It also takes me back to the times when we are hiding under the kitchen table and wait for the chicken to be ready at grandma’s house. Every bite is heavenly yet real and it gives all the reasons in the world to celebrate the joy and happiness in life. Dick’s fried chicken definitely has its reason to be kept on its secret menu in this imperfect world.

Just like partially hydrogenated oils, I KNOW Dick’s is not what Super Heroes eat but scoring the trifecta of a Deluxe, fries and shake makes me so f*cking happy! It feels a bit naughty and subversive which only adds to the enjoyment. As I cruise North/South on I-5, the 45th Street location is just way too convenient. Dick’s is the Red Light District of my gluttonous ways. The temptation is always there.

Dick’s is quintessential Seattle. If you’re craving a cheap burger, look no further. I recommend stopping by Dick’s for a few burgers, fries, and a shake, and heading over to one of the lovely nearby parks in the Wallingford/Fremont area, if it’s a nice day. There’s always people ordering here, but the lines go fast since there are so many cashiers. A few important notes: Dick’s is cash-only. Ketchup is $ 0.05 extra, but it comes in a small plastic container with a lid, rather than a messy packet, so definitely ask them to throw a few in your bag if that’s your thing. Know what you want before it’s your turn at the window. The fries are best if you eat them right away; if you wait, they’ll turn soggy within 5 minutes or so.

Let’s go get a bag of dicks! The burgers good. The fries are better. The milkshakes. BEST! This place only takes cash which is a downfall but the food is good and served insanely fast! I love that it’s theme is old fashioned drive in. There’s a lot of parking around so you can eat in the car or take it to go!

Dicks has solid food, lighting quick service all at great prices. We got a couple burgers, one fries, one strawberry shake. The fries were fine. Better than mcdonalds, but a little lack of potato flavor I guess is the best way to explain it. I was expecting more strawberry flavor in the strawberry shake. It was still good, but I’ve had better. I did like the consistency. It was soft enough that you could suck it through the straw instead of having to wait a few minutes for it to melt. The burgers were very solid. Meat seems like its a good quality, so is the produce. Cheese was a little underwhelming. I was expecting more flavor from the cheese. The sweet pickles were a nice touch. Over all it was a positive experience. Being a california native the in-n-out comparisons were inevitable. In-n-out wins hands downs, but Dick’s is enjoyable in its own right.

Old school drive in style that tries to serve up some cheap affordable food? Got it. head on up to the window, place your order, and get served right away. The traffic for Dicks is constant and I can understand why. The food is affordable, it’s open late, and the best place to hit up after stumbling home from the bars. They have a decent amount of parking available and because service is so fast you’ll be on your way in no time. As you would expect for such a cheap burger there’s nothing special about anything. They’re using cheaper buns, small patties, but hey, you can get 2 or 3 of them! The milkshakes are good and overall this place has it’s charm. I can understand the appeal but don’t expect an amazing burger.

If you can’t appreciate Dick’s burgers you aren’t really from Seattle. Even if the food is greasy and the cheese is dull this restaurant has defined the high school lives of every teenager in Seattle since it’s creation.

I think it is so cool that Seattle has Dick’s Drive-In. Coming from Bellingham(north of Seattle), all our original burger places are long gone, so finding a burger like this requires a bit of a drive. Dick’s was busy at 1 on a Thursday, but service was super quick, which I appreciated! Dick’s is cash only, though they have an ATM… yeah, I’d rather they had some payment flexibility. I ordered a Special, some fries, and a vanilla shake. Dick’s is about the burgers, today was no different. The Special was. Was it the best burger I’ve ever had? No, but it was better than burgers at many other fast food places. The Special is a double with cheese, lettuce and cause. It was fresh and tasty. I was hungry, but I think I could have had another. They aren’t the biggest burgers, but that’s okay, they aren’t so large they’re hard to eat. The fries were fresh, but Dick’s fries leave a bit to be desired, to me. They are real potatoes with the skins on(which is good) but they soft and limp(not so good) but they are just lightly salted(good) so when they’re fresh, they taste pretty good, they just lack texture. The Vanilla shake was an odd one. I am not a connoisseur of shakes, but this one, to me, tasted like freezer burnt super-cheap vanilla ice cream. It reminded me of my childhood. It did have the right texture, not too thick. I’ll be back for the burgers, that’s for sure.

I think i’ve had the worst french fries that i ate in my entire life and i might be sworn to stop indulging. they taste like soggy and almost from another planet. not even sure it was made from real potatoes … I don’t even want to think about the oil used. the entire business came to $ 1.96 … I am not sure asking for money back would do justice.

As a tourist I’m coming to this establishment. I’m unimpressed-definitely a want to be In-N-Out/Shake Shack with burgers, fries, and shakes. They also have ice cream. Unlike In N Out and Shake Shack they’re not about the experience and customer service. I ordered a special burger but asked for no mayo… the cashier was telling me there’s no special orders. I asked for a hamburger and wanted lettuce, pickles, and onions but they are unable to add or modify any of the orders. I’m slightly confused at this point. The guy rudely said I can let you talk to someone else and they’ll tell you the same thing. Do you want me to get someone else so they can tell you the same thing? I’m feeling a little bit of racial profiling here and I hate using the race card but I’m Filipino and you(Caucasian) may be uncomfortable but you shouldn’t be rude when I have not been rude or unruly. We paid with cash… a ten and a five and he proceeds to check the cash in the light. The fries are soggy and they don’t taste fresh like In n Out. The hamburger is decent. It did have ketchup and mustard. The buns were grilled that was a pleasant surprise. It’s like a McDonald’s burger but the patty is better. That’s my review you decide if you want to visit or not.

If you’re craving a good olé greasy burger and fries. this is the place to go in Seattle. Hate that they don’t let you personalize orders here though. I had the deluxe burger with fries for $ 5.50. Pretty good quality for the price. Better quality burger than McDonald’s but fries were a little too soggy for my liking. Definitely not comparable to my one love, In-n-out. But until an in-n-out comes to Seattle, this place will have to satisfy my cheap burger cravings.

I ordered the Dick’s deluxe and it was amazing. I truly believe that this is way better than Five Guys. The service was really fast and the quality of the food is amazing. It’s better close to being better than In-N-Out in my opinion. Every trip to Seattle, I always try to get these burgers before I leave. This is CASHONLY, but they do have an ATM in the back corner

Cheeseburgers! Fries! and Milkshakes! Oh my! Ok, so I’m not sure what took us so long to try Dick’s because it’s actually pretty tasty… it was like a more delicious, you can’t get it your way, hope you have cash, McD’s cheeseburger. The one annoying thing that I’m sure regulars find endearing is that the burgers come how they come — no customizations. Only a bummer because I love pickles on my burgers but I just can’t do lettuce… warm lettuce is gross and sad. Oh well, no deluxe for me! At least the regular olé cheeseburger was yummy. Bottom line: We got 4 cheeseburgers, 2 sides of fries, a coke, and a vanilla shake for about $ 17, cold hard cash. Next time I drive by I’ll remember this more than satisfactory meal and probably stop again. If I have cash. Or maybe I’ll even make a special trip to the ATM.

Dick’s is known for being thee place for late night food. My friend suggested a burger, fries and a milkshake. The prices are pretty reasonable but they did raise their prices according to previous Unilocal menu pictures and my friend. My friend suggested I get a Deluxe Burger for $ 3.10 which includes a double patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mustard, and chopped pickles. We also got fries which are hand cut with the skin on. Since Dicks is a drive inn, there’s only Windows to order at, no seats. We took it back home and right when I unwrapped my burger… there was a hair on my lettuce!!! Yuck!!! I decided to take that piece of lettuce out and eat the burger. Now, onto the fries, they were cold and soggy and our place wasn’t even that far… Eh, not sure if I’d go here again but it is known for a place to eat at after a night of drinking so maybe it would taste better drunk?

This seemed like the place to be late nights as there were some nice lines out at this old style burger joint. Looks like the old drive-in joints from the 1950’s you see on television. Not sure how they operate in the daytime, but it looks like they wanted all patrons outside while cooks and servers stay inside taking your orders. Went up to the window and ordered a burger and it was better than I thought it would be. Got it with cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo… very good actually. Wasn’t expensive as I recall it being around $ 2 or something like that. Its not far from the University of Washington campus so they are in a great location

Most convenient Dick’s location there is, just a few blocks off of 1 – 5! This is the location I always went to growing up because I didn’t need to remember any turns, just get off the highway and drive till you see it! No seating or bathrooms. It’s just the kitchen and cash registers at this location. Eating in your car is required unless you sneak a bag of burgers into the movie. Highly recommended.

Dick’s is where it’s after! A few too many breweries and in need of second dinner, we ended up at Dick’s. I love the old school vibe and our friend who is from Seattle was telling us about the company – how they offer competitive wages, treat their employees like royalty(401K match, scholarships, etc.) and how prices haven’t changed. It’s $.05 if you want onions, ketchup, mustard or other add ons to your burger – what other places do that?! I got a cheeseburger and strawberry shake and they were equally awesome, sometimes you just need a burger and shake, am I right or am I right?

Came here today on our way home from catering a wedding. If we are near a Dicks then we go! But today’s burger was a bit lacking. I got the special burger which seemed ironic today. There was plenty of sauce but where’s my lettuce? I got maybe two small bite size pieces which seemed just not right. The patty was decent enough but didn’t seem to match the amount of buns and sauce. The fries were too soft and greasy. Not enough salt either. Just lacking. A lot. The only saving grace was my milkshake. It was chocolate and just the right thickness. For that it gets the three stars. Maybe we caught them on an off day. Will be back but perhaps I’ll step up my game and try the deluxe instead.

Vom. No thank you. I can appreciate it for what it is, but I don’t like places that won’t let you customize, especially if you are allergic to an ingredient that they insist on putting on their burgers. Also? It’s nothing special. Sure, it’s open late, but the fries are meh, the chocolate shake was watery, and my friend(who had a burger) said she doesn’t understand the comparison to In N Out(we are native Californians). Moving along.

First visit to Seattle and our first meal is at Dick’s. Very old school burger joint keeps things simple and pretty cheap. Which means no substitutions. I decide I would test my chances knowing the rules with local joints. I want to get no mayo on my burger… details to be explained later. Of which I was told by the cashier if you want no Mayo then order a cheeseburger or a hamburger. I decide just give me the dicks specials as is and a cheese burger with fries and a chocolate shake. My brother decide on 2 cheeseburgers. This ran about 14.95 ish with tax. Oh probably should mention its cash only. They have atm sight just in case you have none. Dicks is a Seattle staple… I guess it’s cause it’s. Quick cheap efficient and satisfies your hunger. Is it fancy no is it gourmet probably not. Locals may say I’m wrong but it’s an equivalent to a McDonald’s burger but with more flavor and better quality. The dicks’s special burger lettuce mayo and chopped pickles. Now here is the kicker… no mayo exclusion is because it’s mixed with pickles as a sauce. Well if they had said it was sauce that makes sense when you list items individually then I assume that’s what your topping my burger with aka it’s Tarter Sauce on your burger. My cheeseburger was a McDonalds burger hold the pickles and more flavor. The fries a limp but they are fresh. Shake is okay nothing too special . Overall Dick’s is Seattle’s burger joint franchise as Whataburger is to Texans, In and Out Burger is To Californians and Shake Shack is to New Yorkers. Either way need cheap eats go to dicks burgers orders taken and made with attitude literally and figuratively.

A Seattle institution, Dick’s has been around since 1954. Now, they may not be the top burger joints in the area. However, they are better than any fast food chain, and cheap too! Especially for those who have had a late night drinking! You just cannot beat the prices! Everything is under $ 3.00, with the most expensive item being $ 2.90, the Dick’s deluxe. I recommend a single cheeseburger, fries and a float for first timers. I almost always get a Deluxe and depending on my mood, a side of fries and a soda. My boyfriend always gets two cheeseburgers, a regular hamburger, side of onions and a small coke. Their fries are über greasy that again, depending if I want a grease bomb in my gut I’d rather skip it. It does have skins on and everything, but I think it sits in a pool of its own oil that it just soaks it all up before it gets out to you. But, when you are out drinking, or hungover and need something to cure your tummy grumbles, get the fries with a side of tartar!!! They still use those waxy style cups for their sodas and my boyfriend swears it makes that coke taste even better. I don’t know, soda is soda to me. It’s a Seattle tradition to come by and grab a milkshake an a couple of cheeses. Or how ever you want to mix it up! Just go, get something, take some pics and don’t forget to check in!

There’s not much new to be said about Dick’s that hasn’t already been mentioned in several other reviews. And that, my Unilocaly friend, is the point. DICK’S NEVERCHANGES. They’ve been serving up the same exact burgers, the same exact shakes, the same exact flavors of ice cream since I was a kid(and even before that). They haven’t diversified. Here you will find no new gourmet chicken burgers, no salads, no wraps, no dollar menu. You will just find the same fattening, delicious burgers they’ve been cranking out perfectly for decades.
