absolutely awesome customer service! Todd (the manager) was absolutely amazing arranging for the gift of a new cannondale from me to my best friend… he made sure the bike was properly set up and was waiting there for her when she came in completely unaware that a new bike was waiting for her. he even helped string her along as she thought she was just picking up a box of old parts for me. when he finally presented her with the bike she was speechless… a first! thanks again for all your help! if the way he handled an out of town customer is any indication, then I can easily recommend Bike sport to ANYONE in seattle! great shop!!!

Very helpful and nice. I’m a beginner and they were very patient with me. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that after they checked the bike before the test ride and after I bought it. The spokes on the rear week were loose and I had to bring it back after about a mile of riding because the wheel was making a sound. Once I showed back up they were super on top of it. Mike jumped on it heard the sound and they fixed it right away without question. I defiantly recommend this shop even with the slight mishap. Problems can happen which is understandable. But this place did not hesitate to make things right!

When my Cycleops trainer broke, I went online to find a nearby dealer and discovered these guys. The old part was broken and needed to be cut out of the trainer, and these guys took the time to do it for no extra cost when I bought the replacement part from them. One star off for the price of the replacement part, but that really isn’t their fault. Happy customer!

When I took my bike in for a tune-​up they quoted different services and I agreed to them. When they went to do the work I received a call and they said I didn’t really need to do some of the work once they had a closer look. I appreciate their honesty and communication. I would definitely use them again.

Great shop and excellent customer service. Mike D. was hugely helpful getting my girlfriend set up with her first bike. They can get busy during the high-​season, so prepare to be patient, but you’ll be rewarded with extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. No feeling of pressure sales, either: he didn’t automatically try to up-​sell us to the most expensive bike, but rather started her out on the cheapest and let us go out on numerous test rides so we could note and discuss the merits of each.

my boyfriend and I went in ready to drop $ 2000 each for a road/​cross bikes. we didn’t feel like he took us seriously. Our salesperson, Mike acted kind of odd when my bf wanted to try a cyclocross bike to get a feel for it. He assumed we didn’t know what cyclocross was (we do) and kept acting like the bikes are only for elite athletes.
they carry Giant and some women specific and cannondale. not an extensive selection and the built up bikes were mostly in he $ 800-​low thousand range (stock components)
they made sure to tune the bikes before you test ride which is great and Mike said he was a certified fitter.
didn’t care for the atmosphere (Subway is next door so it smells like you’re in it!) and pretty sterile and wouldn’t want to go back there and deal with them for the warranty/​care agreements. the other guy in the shop snipped at two bikers that came in and set their bikes against a rack saying they should use the bike stands — not sure how they would have known that it wasn’t by any means obvious.
compared to the other bike shops we’ve tried all over — this was one wasn’t very pleasant.

First off, sorry for the length of this review — I never read ones this long. But it’s WAY overdue, and I want to do this awesome shop justice. So if you want to know what kind of place it is because you’re looking for a shop that’ll take care of you, feel free to read all this. Or just note the 5 stars if you’re in a hurry.
I’ve grown to know, genuinely like, and really TRUST everyone who works here (manager Todd, Boston Mike, Mike Danger, owner Scott, and last but far from least, mechanic Kevin-Milwalkee’s-Best). I trust them literally with my life, given how much I ride (at least 200 miles/​week) and the way in which I do it (too hard, at all times, putting a ridiculous amount of wear and tear on my bikes). Plus they’re just fun and laid back but without sacrificing the detail– and service-​orientedness you’d want.
When I arbitrarily chose to buy my commuter bike from them, Todd (manager) gave me a great price because, well, I asked for it – I wanted a different, cheaper bike which they didn’t have so he brought the price down a bit for the higher-​end but otherwise comparable one they did have.
Unfortunately, through no fault of Bikesport’s, it ended up being a bit of a lemon, and Canondale wasn’t being very prompt about replacing defective parts. It was winter — rainy, hilly, dangerous commuting weather, especially with my evening shift hours.
Because I needed a safe commuter bike STAT, Todd did a straight across swap of the problem bike for a brand new Giant Seek. He recommended this bike specifically because he knew I needed in a commuter bike — stability, disc brakes, a rack for panniers, fat road tires, and of course something very cool looking — and I absolutely LOVE it. It was a way better choice than the one I picked out for myself the first time.
Free of charge, he transferred my rack onto the new bike and even threw in some fenders since — again — I asked… my justification being that it was a somewhat less expensive bike… not taking into account that they didn’t have to do this in the first place and that they’d probably take a loss on reselling my used Canondale.
Bottom line: Great shop. Give ‘em a try.

My husband and I recently bought new bikes here. I emailed the store previous to coming in and explained exactly what I was looking for. I had a bike that I loved for comfort but it was just too heavy and slow. I got an immediate response to my email with several suggestions that might work for me. We headed down to the shop and Todd had the bikes out and ready for me to try! It was great. We had such a great experience that my husband ended up purchasing a bike as well. Our 15 month old son was with us and everyone in the store was really kind and friendly with him. Overall it was a great experience.

I had an old mountain bike that I wanted to get road-​ready for commuting. I came in and I was a little worried that the stereotype of snooty rude bike shop staff would be true. Much to my surprise, they were understanding, patient, answered all my (multiple) questions, got me what I need, dissuaded me from spending more money than I needed on too-​fancy stuff. Helpful, professional, and friendly. I will definitely be back.

Bikesport saved my life!
My reliable but neglected commuter bike was increasingly unsafe at any speed and needed a bunch of new parts. Todd was super-​helpful in finding and ordering for me quality wheels, brakes, and other stuff to help me stay upright without breaking the bank. On top of that, he and Mike gave me a bunch of on the spot good advice about pedals and why my knees are been hurting lately.
Thanks Bikesport for saving my life; and my knees!

Went in looking for a hybrid. Felt like they were doing me a favor just coming out to sales floor.

Strolled in to see what I could find for my daughter as both her skills and size are rapidly transitioning, putting her in a tween stage.
Todd started us off nicely, handed off to Tom and he took us to the finish line. No «sales» — Only honest bike talk and scenarios/​options.
Technician Annie took the chosen bike (offered at a fair price) and added some of the mods/​accessories we were after executed perfectly, in no time flat.
I’m a small business owner myself and hold others to the HIGHEST standard… This experience was as much of a slam dunk as one could ever hope for. Great people, great shop.

I’ve been a local customer of Bikesport in Ballard for two years spending hundreds for gear and tech services. Until today I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with friendly and helpful staff. This positive stance was altered when I visited the tech counter in the back (since there was no one in the front half of the shop) and politely asked if I could borrow an L-​wrench tool in order to perform a quick pedal swap. The tech brusquely informed me that pedal swaps are $ 8 and «shop policy» does not allow customers to use tools. Regardless of if that is actually Bikesport’s greedy and anti-​community policy the employee had an opportunity to exercise his judgement in considering these apparent factors of a low risk situation: L wrenches are a simple to use, nearly impossible to break and inexpensive tool/​the pedal swap would have taken less than 5 minutes/​I was one of two customers in the store so it’s not like they were slammed. The manner in which the tech handled my basic request bristled with rudeness. My view of this business has been tainted by a punk (in both attitude & appearance) employee who failed at being a decent person and tried to rationalize his lack of goodwill by quoting some ridiculous «policy». I’ve worked with company policy that contradicted my values in the name of profit and never found it difficult or faced repercussions for choosing to do the right thing. Will be avoiding this shop and taking my business elsewhere as there is no lack of cycle shops in the area with cool people running it. Cheers and ride happy :)

Eh not terrible but not great either.
Shop is nice and they have a ton of bikes and useful equipment.
I brought my bike in after a flat and got it replaced then bought an extra tube to change on my own. Riding down a hill a while after blew out my tube. went to change it — Lo and behold they gave me the wrong size (YAY!) so needless to say I had to find an alternate route home. anywho
Brought it back in told them — they didnt say much but that they would fix the flat (no charge on tube) and they said i should get a quick tune-​up — which I was overdue for one so I said sure. First guy didnt seem to really know what he was doing but the girl did.
Got my bike back then took it to work to ride home on the trail — heard a ton of rubbing and coudn’t figure out what was going on. They put my brakes too tight and I had nothing on me to loosing the pads off so rode home with no front break until I could fix it (guess my fault for having no equipment on it)
Then noticed this broken plastic thing connected to my handle bar — wasn’t sure what it was then realize ahhh that’s where my reflector once was…
they are overpriced and was not totally impressed considering the first guy was just staring at my bike and saying «it needs a tune up» but no idea why. awkward
they did get it done in a timely fashion I’d say that. but after getting a wrong tube size when you just replaced it is unacceptable

Before they moved I bought a seat to replace the uncomfortable one that I got when my seat post was stolen. I thought the staff was friendly and helpful without being high pressure.
When I heard about the move I stopped by a couple of times. One time because my old seat post kept slipping and a mechanic looked at it, took some time and tried to make it more functional. A small thing but still helpful. Then my bike needed a tune up which turned into a bigger project that required ordered parts and took some time but my bike was better.
Except a knock when I peddled.
Finally my schedule lined up and I brought it by and a mechanic looked at, wagered it was a unlubed bottom bracket and took that apart and lubed it for free.
I’ve seen a fair mix of reviews of this location but I will say that the help and service I’ve received has been rather good. The employees are friendly and not pushy. All seem knowledgeable and willing to help.
Sure it’s now on the Burke Gilman which means it can get busy. As my bottom bracket was being worked on all manner of people came in for other work to be done, to test ride bikes, and just to browse so there were moments the staff was spread a little thing but that’s how it’ll be on a nice weekend day and their location.

Good service, honest staff, and very professional. Highly recommend. My new bike shop after moving from Chicago!

I shopped here for a bike with my husband. This was or comparison stop after trying out since bikes at another place. They have a lot of bikes in stock but did not much variety. We were looking for a good commuter bike with disc brakes. There was only one model available that fit that description. My husband test ride one without disc brakes. The chain feel off during his test. Between the low variety and poor performance during the test ride we decided to go elsewhere.
Generally the person helping us didn’t seem like a bike expert. She seemed like someone who memorized the bike catalog and new the features from reading about bones but didn’t portray the firsthand expertise I hoped to see. My husband didn’t think she seemed like a trustworthy source of bike knowledge. I didn’t think she seemed very confident in the information she was sharing.
The bike shop had a repair center that does tune ups. If you buy a bike here they do a few free tune ups and bike adjustments.

A bit unusual, this review, since I stopped by this shop only looking to buy some very small, inexpensive parts for a repair project of my own. Bottom line, I was obviously a near-​zero-​profit customer, but I was pleased at how patiently mechanic Peter listened to my plan, gave me sound advice, and provided me with what I needed at reasonable cost.
I browsed around the shop before I left, and they seem to have a good selection of bikes and accessories for kids (those cute Nutcase helmets), recreational riders (relaxed-​geometry road bikes), and commuters (at least a few different rear racks). They might well have had pricier racing stuff, but I wasn’t looking.

Bought my road bike there from Jef 2 years ago and it came with coupons for a couple of tune ups, flat repairs, etc. Jef and Christa (two of the nicest people ever!) sold the shop to the current owners and I didn’t expect that the new owners would honor the coupons, but I was wrong!
Dropped my bike off for a post STP tune up and they spent a few minutes going through any problems or concerns that I had. I got a call the next day stating that I had a bent dérailleur hanger and asked if I wanted to replace it. I agreed that we should replace it and they said it would be ready that afternoon. When I picked the bike up today, not only did they not charge me to replace the hanger, the bike was cleaned and IMMACULATE! Who does that!!! Bikesport, that’s who! As I left they thanked me for my business. All of this after a FREE tune-​up!!!
I have also joined them for some shop rides on Saturdays and always had a great time. The staff is great and they know their business.
Since they have expanded their offerings, they have bikes for everyone, from kids to racers. I have been to a ton of bike shops but this is one of the best. Do yourself a favor and buy a bike here, you’re worth it!
