Oh hell yes, take me to Big Mario’s right now. Take me on a weeknight, we’ll sit at the bar, enjoy a delicious slice of pizza, a cold Rainier, enjoy the passing douchebaggery, and watch the total babe of a bartender slaughter it.

OK I am in now way qualified to judge a pizza on its NYC authenticity. I post on pizza making. Com and love the craft. Fortunately for me, I am partial to a true Chicago thin or pan. Why the 5 stars? My wife lived in NYC and after much prodding, we went to search out a true NY pie. It came on a cheap ass paper plate thinner than toilet paper but the pizza was chewy and crisp. Super clean tasting and the high gluten flour did its job with the yeast. Excellent crust, sauce, and cheese. Definitely a late night pleaser

I can’t speak for the ambiance of this place — but it’s next to a bunch of bars, the pizzas are cheap, ANDTHEYARESOAMAZINGWHENYOUAREDRUNK! The pepperoni in particular has a good amount of spice, perfect amount of grease, and is piping hot and delicious. Really, you can’t go wrong at this place for cheap, delicious pizza.

Big Mario ’ s is great for what it is. Good, NY style slices you can grab when you’re on the hill, a little drunk, and want something good and fast.

Much much much better than Pagliacci in my opinion. Crust is too doughy to stack up against real NYC pizza but it’s prolly the closest you can get in Seattle. The Mai Thai with pepperoni was great. Sober or not Marios is a solid choice.

My favorite late night pizza spot in Cap Hill; I almost always stop in for a slice after a long night of dancing. The vibe is super chill and casual which I love. Staff is always super chill and nice, too. There are booths and a bar in the back, with old school VHS movies playing on the TV. The line can get seriously ridiculous but hey, it’s not Mario’s fault his pizza is loved by all of Capitol Hill!

I’m not going to lie. I was 110 percent completely hammered when my friends and I ate at Big Mario’s last Thursday night. The greasy, cheesy slice of pizza was exactly what I needed, unlike the cocktails following our stop at Big Mario’s which were clearly not needed. Unsure if there was seating and totally unaware that there is a bar tucked in the back of the space, we stood in line and then ate our slice whilst standing on the sidewalk. It was delicious and I can’t wait to return with my future drunk self and other drunk friends!

Great pizza definitely New York thin crust with just enough spice to the sauce and fresh ingredients! But it’s in a bar and because of that no seating for babies… :(Just had to get it to go and ate in the parking across the street,.

What’s not to love about Big Mario’s pizza on Capital Hill. Giant sized slices New York Pizza Style served by the individual slice or whole pie for your culinary delight. Big Mario’s has a wide variety of freshly cooked pizzas for you walk in off the street and order by the slice. Traditional thin crust pizza slices are perfect to just fold in half for the person on the go. Every time I grab a one for the road I feel like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever strutting down Broadway with a slice in hand. Make sure you fold that baby in half to hold in the grease or what FRANK refers to as pizza love juice. Mario’s pizza is made with tangy red sauce and fresh mozzarella. However you can add or change to either Gorgonzola, Feta or Goat Cheese as an alternative flavor. Vegan options I found more interesting. You could add toppings like Rosemary Potatoes, Caramelized Pears, Baby Arugula and jalapeños for extra kick. And let’s not forget the basic meats including salty anchovies. I’m sure your make a pie to meet your needs. For the diners choosing to dine in you’ll have full stocked cocktail bar including local beers on tap and Rainer Tall Boy cans. The help is actually really pleasant and ready to serve your needs. Ambiance is defiantly a rock n roll driven with loud music and graffiti based décor. You’ll get real street vibe that serves quality food which is all that matters. Take Out or eat it’s all available, but just don’t drip the pizza grease aka pizza love all down the front of you. Enjoy da pizza !

Big Mario’s is a great place to get some food late after a night on the hill BECAUSEDRUNKCALORIESDON’T COUNT! I’m far from a New Yorker, but they have a great thin crust pizza that goes great for your DRUNCHIES or good for when you’re hungry sober. It’s about $ 4 per slice depending on what you get. I never know what the hell their special pizzas are called so I just look carefully through the glass and point to the one I want and hope the message comes across lol. They have a range of set toppings you can choose from. They reheat the pizza for you and place it on a thin white paper plate which aids in eating I suppose. Their slices are fairly large and has a good amount of flavor, but the toppings are somewhat disproportionate to surface area of the pizza. The crust can be a little on the softer side and floppy as I love a good crunch. Great late night stop, don’t plan to find seating inside as the bar and booths get packed. However, if you come earlier in the evening then you’ll probably find seating. The bathrooms are all the way in the back past the booths and are decorated in graffiti chic haha. The place is on the divey side, but don’t let that stop you from experiencing it at least once!

Not my favorite pizza in the city but definitely a good quality slice of New York style pie. The atmosphere is ideal for those on a late night food run as they offer plenty of inside seating and beers served all night. Be ready for a line after midnight but the wait is worth it if you’re craving a good pizza. I personally would choose this place over Mama’s(located down the street) strictly off of the service, the pizza just puts it well over the top.

This is the place to go after exams ! Great local beers and amazing pizza. Also everyone is so fun to talk to here. I can’t remember her name but the lady bar tender will make you laugh your head off. She’s awesome. The prices and portion are more then generous. My go to place for a great slice of pizza and a pitcher of beer !

Big Mario’s is an excellent option for late night New York style massive individually served slices of pizza. Even at 11:00PM on the night of MLK day they were staying busy, and most of the seats were filled with people enjoying themselves. According to Google they were closed, but Google lies, and for trusting my instincts I was rewarded with a full stomach for a good price in the late night of a holiday. For the same price that I’d have gotten a 1-topping slice for in Downtown I was getting a taste of their specialties, and the wait time was only about 5 minutes from line to plate.

What can I say you get what you pay for it’s a slice of pizza. The people there are friendly warm it’s an enjoyable place to have a beer. If you looking for gourmet pizza this is not the place but if you’re looking for a slice of pizza to satisfy the urge then you hit the jackpot parent

This is my weekly spot with a friend of mine for a beer and a delicious slice of pizza. Their pizza tastes different from anyone else’s in my opinion– in a good way! Bartenders are always friendly. Always leave full. I want pizza right NOW!

This pizza is super good, cheap, fast, by the slice. The bar is great place to hang out and grab a beer as well.

Bid Mario’s Pizza is 5-star drunk pizza. Actually yesterday was the 1st day I’ve had it without drinking… Imagine that… It’s good a nice crust, but little charring. As an aficionado I think it should be 80% baked and 20% char on the bottom crust. The crust itself was very soft but also had a crunch which was good, but lacked that flavor. Toppings are sparce on the pepperoni, but good quality. Cheese was browned nicely. Overall pretty good, Wonderful when drinking, but sober 4*

I’ll have to come back here when I haven’t been overly influenced by the elixirs at the Unicorn, but as far as I can tell, oh man. Mmhmm. Had a cheese slice and a veggie slice. The veggie slice… meh, but the cheese slice, yyyyup. This is great thin crust pizza. I don’t feel right giving it a 5 because I wouldn’t put it in my top 10 pizzas(shoutout to Lou Malnati’s in Chicago and Village Pizza in LA), but it does hit that spot in a really nice way and I will be coming back.

Many places claim to have NY style pizza, but few come close. Big Mario’s however, is the first place that truly reminds me of the texture, thickness and flavor of NY pizza. I love it! I loooooooove the plain cheese and pepperoni. One thing that sets Big Mario’s apart is the way the pizza comes off the oven. It’s not just your run of the mill pizza pie, but it’s both deliciously warm, with a hint of spiciness. When you’re there, make sure to order a soda, even if you aren’t fond of it. It’s super cool that you don’t get fountain sodas, but instead, you get a soda token, which you use in the old-fashioned vending machine across from the counter. Truly makes for a great back-in-time experience!

Big Mario’s is the best! Exactly how a pizza place is supposed to be. Their cheese slices are superb, and they always have a good variety of topping combinations in the window. If you are feeling adventurous, they usually have themed slices for holidays — like Peeps pizza on Easter. Glad to see them growing, the Queen Anne location is great, too!

Yeah, so, this is gross. But where else are you going to go at 2:30 am when the clubs close? They have you by the balls and they know it. Anyone who thinks this is good«New York» pizza should be ashamed of themselves.

I’m amping my stars up for this place. I don’t know what I was talking about in my last review. I have been here multiple times since that embarrassing last review I wrote in 2011 and Mario’s has yet to fail me. Because when it’s dark and cold and you’re up on Capitol Hill trying not to get rammed into by drunk people on a lonely weekend night, Big Mario is there to cheer you up. Thank you Big Mario whoever you are. Your thin crust perfectly ratioed cheese to sauce to topping to crispy bread truly does make my night. I have been to other pizza places, but sometimes they can be too bougie for me around these parts. So when I want honest pizza with tiny adorable pepperoni and single sliced, I come to you. Plus I’m always at Century Ballroom, so you’re merely a lindy hop and swing skip away.

Good oily fresh pizza, huge slices! On our visit to Seattle, my beau and I stayed at an apt right above the pizzeria. We were coming back from Elysian, and saw a HUGE crowd in front of all the bars and decided we wanted some pizza. We went with sausage mushroom pizza, and a slice each was a hefty snack. The line moves fairly quickly and they’re open late, so it’s a good option for drunchies — they must make a lot of their $$ from the local drunkies! Beware, their chili flakes are HOT — I was a bit buzzed so I put on way too much and burned my tongue silly. :(so sad. I ate it eventually anyway, just cried during the whole thing. Great spot for pizza if you’re in the area!

Still the best pizza, but minus 1 star until they fix consistency issues they’ve had lately. They sometimes rush the pizza in the oven, taking it out before it’s fully cooked, even when they’re not super busy /crowded. Undercooked pizza is sad pizza, not nearly as good as their normal pizza. It’s floppy and soft, with a uniform white layer of undercooked cheese on top. This happens with both to-go slices and to-go pies, but it’s more common when ordering a whole pie to go.

To be honest I am surprised I just now tried Big Mario’s. I am shocked I haven’t stumbled in here on a late night bar hopping escapade on the hill. The slices are the size of my head. The pizza is oh so thin, and oh so good. I am sure if I would have been to NY I would be comparing it to their pizza. I have tried the pepperoni and it is just yum. Perfectly thin, greasy and huge. The atmosphere is not welcoming to want to sit and eat. Its divvy/trashy. The line is usually long and the later it is the longer the line gets.

Very tasty Caesar salad and a great slice of NY style pie. We tried the mai tai tonight with ham and pineapple. A perfect foldable slice. The staff on the phone was extremely nice and helpful. Great spot to grab a slice in Capitol Hill… and the best pizza boxes you will ever see.

I pass Big Marios often living in Capitol Hill enjoying the riffraff crowd above and beyond the sidewalk living rooms of Pike St. One autumn day I stopped in for a light lunch too see what this NY pizza was about – though skeptical for its claim to a higher power. The venue is like a small bar – charming in the rough smell, Sonic Youth soundtrack, and tattooed staff. I went in to order two slices, while there is booth and bar seating, the sidewalk hosts patio chairs and a table – ideal seating for a casual day. Pizza by the slice was once a rarefied commodity in Seattle. Now Pike St. hosts a few such shops spreading dough and sauce to all. As a New Yorker sympathize with the ‘New York’ style title in all those pizza, deli, and bagel shops – not in NY. The key to happiness is low expectations. As such, when you enter the glass pane covers rounds of pizzas sitting on their link um trays to be ordered, reheated bs distributed to all debutantes and Crustees. This is not NY pizza. But no one was expecting that. Instead Marios makes tasty thin crust pizza, strong savory flavors in the red sauce – herbs, tomatoes. You can get Cheese or magherita(sliced tomatoes and basil) or a variety of toppings(sausage, pepperoni, mushroom). The serving size is large – bigger than the white paper plate its served on. But, the thin crust and touch of sauce and cheese makes for a good bite before playing banjo and making a fool of yourself. I enjoyed the taste of the slice and crunchy texture of the crust – but obvious disappointments was the tasteless mozzarella that had a starchy texture. Likewise, reheating the slice never improved the fact of sitting uncovered on the counter. $ 3 – 3.50 per slice. Good deal. Might try again, but prefer the tacos up the street at the same $ and better everything.

Still pretty solid, I do like their pizza here. Came in at perfect time where they had a lot of selections and freshly made. Decided to get the pesto & pepperoni: their pesto is pretty good, you can definitely taste it in each bite. Gets a bit oily especially with the pepperoni on it too, but hey… just let it drip out and you’ll be fine. My friend got the pepperoni with jalapenos & pineapple: she liked it very much, the jalapenos are raw and you can definitely taste the pepper and spice. Took a few bites and I should’ve gotten that. Dang! Anyways, when needing a slice, I’ll continue to come here.

Pros: Quick slice, out the door, no time at all. Cons: Gets hipsteriffic and douchetastic in the late hours. I’ve never dined in here, nor would I have any real desire to. It seems intentionally scummy and the convenience of quick counter ordering seems to supersede the need for dining there. The«New York» style pizza isn’t exactly NY style(I lived there). It’s not bad, but it’s really kind of just pizza. I think NY style is a bit overhyped anyway. The point really being that it’s great if you wanna get a quick snack slice to go.

Cool old school pizzeria found in Seattle. The pies are like New York pies, the place has a very old school/traditional. For example, they have an 80’s Coke machine out front, and it only accepts Big Mario tokens if you want a soda. There is a bar in the back, and a VHS plater, yes I said VHS! they have a huge collection of titles ranging from The Goonies, to Scarface to Jaws. I ordered a bloody mary and was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. If ever in Seattle and you want good pizza, this is the place to go. Take this from a native New Yorker who was only visiting Seattle for the weekend and is a pizza connoisseur. If this pizzeria were in New York, I would order from here.

Big Mario’s– thanks for filling my late night cravings. Reasons I’ve been here. 1. Late night 2. late night 3. Late night! It is located perfectly in between all the bars and lounges on cap hill. it is always on my way insert bar– to another. I have stood in lines forever after hours with inebriated fellow capitol hill hipsters for a bite of their fresh made pizzas. I’ve also stood in lines for my friends. I think I stood in lines more for my friends than myself. Their cheese pizza is pretty tasty at 2 am! Their pepperoni is great at 3! And if you make it before those time, you can actually sit down, order a drink and have your pizza instead of taking it outside and eating it. Overall, I’m glad they are right there. It’s always nice trying to pass by this place to a club down the street and never made it because your girlfriends want that pizza like their lives depend on it! Oh and it’s cheap too. You can talk to random strangers, make friends and eat a hot tasty slice of pizza for $ 5 or less. Isn’t that what every drunk hipster want? I’m sure it is completely different in the day time though. But I’m too afraid to find out :)
