Don’t even bother going into this store as they have really bad customer service, and it was provided tonight by a rude male worker named Craig (or could have been Greg).
It is 8pm and the ‘Open’ sign is still illuminated. As my fiancé walks into the store to buy me some tennis balls to soothe my sore feet, Craig/​Greg was talking with his co-​worker & waited until my fiancé was half way in the store to tell him that the store was closed & that he needs to quickly grab what he needs — also, keep in mind that there other customers in the store.
Why not say that store is closed upon entry? Why wait? Sorry if we walked into your store while it was «closed», next time do your job & remember to turn off your sign… it’s not our fault you can’t do your job. It’s probably because you’re too busy being a jerk & a terrible worker. If you’re a manager, man… smh. Good customer service is so hard to come by these days.

I went to this store location this past Saturday and it was a great experience. From the the time walked into the store I was made welcome, the girl at the front checkout smiled and welcomed me to the store and asked me if she could help me find something. Since I was there to buy a new pair of sneakers I just headed to the back of the store. Within 5 minutes I had 2 pairs to try on and quickly decided to buy one pair of them and at a great price. Checkout was fast, and the girl at checkout was friendly.
I will be back at this location to shop.

I dont go in often, and it is a smaller store, but i call ahead and always have received pleasant, courteous and helpful responses. Today they had, god bless them, tent stakes to secure my lighted reindeer decorations to the ground. Needless to say, everyone else has put away their camping gear long ago. I dreaded going to the flagship camping store in Seattle. They made me very happy! Were very friendly and waiting for me with even more suggestions. Thumbs up!

Went in today to make a return and received terrible customer service. The manager told me I had to go to the original store of purchase to be able to return. Granted I had lost my receipt, but the return policy allows for store returns without receipt. I asked him how this was a policy given that big 5 is a large chain and he made up excuses.
I got tired of trying to reason with him and went to the original store. They didn’t have any issues and we’re able to process the return without a receipt. I asked if it was a policy to have to go to the original store and they said they’ve never heard of that before. Needless to say, avoid this location.

This place is the worst !!! Terrible customer service, awful return policy, liars on the phone. I plan on returning the merchandise I purchased and taking my business elsewhere. Will NOT support this business.

I like this location because it’s close enough to other stores to be convenient but not terribly busy. The strip mall it’s located in has a decent amount of parking.
In general, I find the store a bit cramped. I like the selection but it seems like everything could be spread out just a bit more. I don’t find the regular prices to be a great deal but sale prices often are worth it. I primarily purchase children’s athletic wear and shoes here. However, I also purchase knives, jackets, and sunglasses here on occasion.
I like the customer service here. The employees are always friendly. Even though they didn’t have what I needed on my last visit, they were polite about explaining what they did have and providing referrals for where they thought I could get my needs met.
I like Big 5 as an option, particularly during peak shopping times where I want to run in and out and be on my way.

Clean store with decent selection of goods for most sports and recreation activities. Staff is very professional, courteous and helpful. I waited a short time while others received superlative service then had the whole attention of Ryan and Anna while they outfitted me for a fishing trip. Rating would be four stars except for the great customer service. Just a comment, not a complaint — be prepared if those ahead of you in line are receiving great service — you may have to look for another employee if you’re impatient or in a hurry.

I just visited this Big 5 for the first time.
It is one level (as opposed to the multilevel U-​district location) but still quite large. Store is organized in various sections including: water sports, baseball, air rifles, weightlifting, etc. Just in time for the warmer weather, they have a decent amount of inflatable boats, canoes, kayaks and various paddles. They also have a large baseball section with bats, balls, and different colored t-​shirts to outfit your team. Although of less interest to me, there were many air rifles and handguns to choose from; also large selection of binoculars.
There was a nice display outside the store with boats inflated so you can see them in their full form.
Prices were ok. On one of the items I was looking at price was equal to Amazon. If you can find a Big 5 coupon, this would be even better!
Staff were friendly.
Plenty of parking.
Stop for a gyro (right next store) while shopping.
