The Seattle Audubon Society and Nature Shop is a wonderful place to go for your birding needs or questions. I recently went there because I was trying to purchase a birding scope for my husband’s 30th birthday, and I didn’t really expect too much in the way of service, but I was wrong! A wonderful gentleman named Russ was so helpful to me and my friends — he showed us the scopes they had, and educated us about scopes while letting us try them out in the parking lot. He was very honest about the quality of the scopes and helped us choose the right one for our needs. The shop has a great variety of products, from birdseed to books to educational toys to high-end optics. And — what they don’t have, they may be able to order for you. We are members($ 30/year), and they offer wonderful field trips with guides who are very experienced birders, throughout the area — local and as far as the peninsula and beyond. Altogether a great find in Wedgwood — kind of hard to see when zipping down 35th, but look for their sign!
