Ascona Suisse Chocolat is a wonderful little chocolatier away from the touristy neighborhoods. Hans is such a nice man and an expert when it comes to chocolate. His business imports Laderach Chocolat from Switzerland on a weekly basis. It is great to find Laderach in North America. Previously I have happily purchased it in Interlaken and Geneve on visits to Switzerland.
If you truly appreciate super fine chocolate it is well worth a drive or taxi to the Madison Valley to visit Hans’ little shop. Don’t expect a fancy store like Fran’s, Chocolopolis or Chocolate Box but at Ascona you will get far superior chocolate. If you are looking for trendy, mediocre salted caramel chocolate go to Fran’s but for true connoisseur grade Suisse cocoa products go see Hans.

Kinda pricey, but based on the free sample I got (thanks!) I think these pieces will be worth it for special occasions. Great selection of dark chocolates. Really friendly owner!

We tried several chocolates from here. The owner is a darling, but we weren’t super impressed with the chocolates. They certainly are high quality chocolates in traditional Swiss style. Unfortunately, traditional chocolates usually leave me wanting more. There were some more adventurous flavors in there, but they were understated and underwhelming. Plus, Swiss chocolates are a little too smooth and milky for me. I like my chocolate dark and rough (no hidden meaning intended I assure you). I don’t have a fine palate. I need to be hit over the head with flavor.
Pretty chocolates though.

Hans is the man! I love this chocolate and my favorite is the carmelized nut chocolate. I will keep coming back! I appreciate business owners in which you can tell the passion they have for their product!!!

The best chocolate you’ll find in Seattle, and possibly the west coast. Hans, the owner, is from Switzerland and knows chocolate better than anyone I’ve ever met. I found out that most of his chocolate from Läderach in Switzerland, which is simply the planet’s best chocolate. Läderach is very difficult to get in the US; even ordering from Switzerland can take months with customs. I don’t know where else to get it besides from Ascona.
Hans is also a treat. He’s like the Swiss grandfather you never had and has to be one of the nicest guys I know.
You can buy the chocolate by the piece if you like but I recommend by the box. It’s surprisingly affordable; A box of 18 is roughly $ 40.
It’s in the Madison Lofts building in Madison Park, right in front of the arboretum. Across from City People’s nursery.

Insanely great Swiss chocolate. By FAR the best in Seattle, and absolutely not comparable in quality to any of our (excellent) local brands. If you haven’t tasted the best Swiss chocolate, please try this.

Holy crap, the chocolate here is amazing. The owner is a wonderful guy and makes you feel very welcome. We will definitely be back to try more of his chocolates.

What a charming chocolate shop! The owner is a delight and so are his sweets.
The quality of his chocolate is impeccable, and will leave you feeling like you just visited one of those top secret chocolatiers in Europe.
Great for gifts for your loved ones or just a treat for yourself. They also ship boxes all over the country if you need delivery.

if you’re looking for a little treat for yourself or perhaps a box of chocolates for a loved one, this is the place. They are not cheap, but they are absolutely delicious. Location is great, on Madison just west of the nail salon across the street from City People’s garden shop.
The man who works here is a nice fellow and I think is the owner and gave me a large sample of milk chocolate.
My absolute favorite is the «nougatine» it looks like a shiny round brown and white swirl marble. It is a unique texture yet familiar taste. You have to try it.
The other one I loved was white chocolate, it’s all white with a grassy texture. the center is a creamy gooier amazing treat.
Honestly, everything I bought was great.
Great place to go if you want to buy the BEST chocolate in Seattle.

What a treat! Ascona isn’t the only source for fine chocolates in Seattle, but for me it’s hands-​down THE BEST. Each chocolate is such a unique flavor experience with layers that unfold as it melts in your mouth. My lifelong chocolate obsession has not prepared me for my first visit to Ascona. Seriously… sheer indulgent decadence! Equally enjoyable as the chocolates is the owner of this shop, Hans. A warm, kind and highly experienced chocolatier, Hans was very patient with us as we picked each chocolate as if it was our last. We listened with delight as Hans shared stories from his past, and about all the loyal customers that frequent his store. We love that guy… truly a special soul. We too will certainly be back to visit Hans and for more of this outrageously delicious chocolate!

So in love with this place. The chocolate is amazing — I have it delivered to Florida and always take some with me whenever I travel. And Hans is just the sweetest guy, my sister and I love talking to him. Tucked away in a cute little shop in Madison Valley — don’t miss it! Better than Franz and worth the commute, wherever you are :)

Beautiful, decadent chocolates, and an incredibly kind owner. Both the dark and the milk chocolate are excellent.
My husband and I had a wonderful conversation with him, and he gave us lots of samples. Forget Fran’s or Ghirardelli — this is the real deal. Delicious!

Amazing place!
I am pretty picky about quality of chocolate and I know what is real Swiss chocolate taste like. This one is real swiss deliciousness that you can truly enjoy. My favorite one is Nougatine with amazing hazelnut ganache inside.
The owner is very sweet and always pleasure to talk to.
Check it out if you know what good chocolate suppose to taste like.

Ascona chocolates are the best I have ever tasted. Of course I do think the
Swiss make the best chocolate.
The Langley Fine Art Gallery paintings on the wall, complement the style of the shop.

I’ve stopped in a few times now to support Hans’s new business and pick up some delicious Swiss imported hand-​dipped chocolates.
They are all incredible, but I think my favorites are the Indian spiced ones in the corner; cardamom, ginger, and curry.
They’re ~ $ 2 a piece, not so cheap, but oh so worth it!
Pro Tip:
Parking– you must be quick, like the cat.

Deeeeeeelicious chocolates in classic as well as crazy flavors. They are so lovely, and the packaging so charming and exclusive, that it’s a real mood-​lifter just making a purchase — –for gift or self.
