The Place at 117

After spending years living on campus and hearing the horror stories of many Champaign-​Urbana landlords, this place, just 5 minutes south of campus down 1^st street is a HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF. If you want to live in the most absolute most affordable apartment in the entire area AND would like the luxury of never having to worry about maintenance problems again, give this place a shot.
On top of the quick response to issues, the amenities really make it something– the pool and hot tub are beautiful and well-​kept, the animal friendliness makes for adorable evening walks around the park next door/​around the complex, and the business office/​fitness center are a great convenience. They also have monthly events ranging from free nachos to pool parties to green pancakes for Unofficial! It’s obvious that the staff here really tries to think of everything.
The apartments themselves are very simple, but definitely comfortable. Try out the tour and see for yourself– I am sad to be leaving The Place!

We have loved it here so far! Everyone is so welcoming and the staff is very responsive. Every time we have had a problem it has been addressed in a reasonable and timely manner.

I have enjoyed living at The Place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facilities are nice – I especially like the exercise room, the pool, and the study room. My apartment was in fairly good condition when I moved in, and was definitely higher than my expectations paired with the low cost of living.
My biggest complaint is that our shuttle service does not always work. The shuttle has been breaking down fairly often in the two years I’ve lived here, and it is the biggest reason I would not want to renew my lease. Having inconsistant transportation to and from campus (4 miles away) is very difficult to deal with – especially when the shuttle service stops without warning or proper time to plan other ways of getting to campus. I have lost a lot of money paying meters in quarters and getting parking tickets in the past two years…

The Place can be really fun. Being able to pay bills online is great. It is very dog friendly. The maintenance response is pretty good too.
