Have been coming here for many years and went to their old Woburn location before this one. Great food and great prices. I recommend the nachos or their buffalo chicken. They also have really good seafood specials most times that I have gone. One of very few restaurants where you can order anything on the menu and not be disappointed. Wait staff is also very friendly

Average pub fare with a North Shore flavor. Lunchtime = senior citizens complaining about politics in the background with cheap«specials» which are likely leftovers. I.E. $ 5.00 lunch«special» burger. Dinner = locals and thank god there isn’t Keno available… Use your imagination. Long story short — its a local joint trying to be classy. Advice = Spuds Management — just serve good food and cheap beer. No one wants«Haddock Rockefeller». People who come here want real food to be eaten by real people.

I think I’m too young for this place. Generally, I prefer food with flavor. but it was packed with elderly people, so I’ll probably appreciate it in 30 years. I’ll check back then.

WARNING!!! You need to be extremely agile when walking through this restaurant. Wheelchairs, walkers and canes litter the aisles like an obstacle course. I feel so young when I eat here. This is your standard chain establishment: 30 year old décor, basic American fare, measured portions, and waitresses as old as the décor. But some of the food isn’t bad. The onion rings are good, and ample, the steak tips and ribs are good, as are the burgers and cole slaw. I find the waitresses to be knowledgeable and accommodating. But the menu and environment need to be overhauled, quickly. There is ample off street parking and you get a nice water view from the bar, where I’ve found the service to be a little quicker and the majority of the bar patrons are ambulatory. I don’t come here for a fine dinner, or a romantic dinner, but for a burger and fries it’s not bad.

I’ve been going there forever. I like to go sit at the bar and get a bowl of clam chowder as well as a bowl of the best French onion soup around. The closest second best is a French onion soup I got in Toronto, Canada. The steak tips are also very good.

Just ate at this Spuds in Saugus since it is right by my house, and weve always kind of just passed by it Well both me and my husband were super pleased with the service. Exellent! Our server Carroll was friendly and attentive. Very nice! The food was good. We ordered chicken teriyaki and Sheppard s pie. With nachos for appetizer. Good portions we left STUFFED! We will definitely be back! Ohh and I had an ultimate margarita. .strong enough but not overwhelming amount of alcohol. only 7 bucks!

My husband and I come here occasionally because it’s close by and convenient. Nothing special. They have a bar, but you’re better off just getting a beer or soda. Décor has not changed since 1980, just awful. Some seats have the light right in your face and it’s pretty harsh and annoying. Service is touch and go. The food is average, nothing outrageous to rave about. My husband likes what they call«buffalo chicken challenge» sandwich. I like their potato skins, which are actually halved potatoes(width-wise), scooped out, deep fried and filled with that fake orange gooey cheese and topped with bacon. Sounds horrible, I know, but they are delicious. Their fried seafood seems pretty fresh and tastes ok, but it’s all coated in the same unseasoned bland batter. After every time we go, I always say ‘why do we even go here anymore?.’ The last time is probably our last time for good. They need a complete update and get rid of a few crabby waitstaff and maybe I’ll go back.

I didn’t have problems with the food or service. However, I find it highly annoying when a restaurant/bar does not list their drink prices on the menus. What are you hiding??? I asked both my server and the bartender, the range of drink prices. The waitress said she didn’t know because she enters the order into the computer and doesn’t look at the price. The bartender told me a price and it was much lower than the actual drink price. It’s a good thing I always carry a credit card because if I had just had cash, based on what they told me, I could have paid for the 2 drinks but then not been able to leave a tip. Not good business.

1980 called they want their décor back! I don’t think this placed has ever changed! Ordered a burger the first time came out as a hockey puck, gave them another chance and the 2nd time came out as a hockey puck! Not worth it, sorry Spuds but I will not return.

The place feels like its stuck in the 80s my father inlaw wanted Clams and shirmp instead of the haddock and shirmp they told us it would cost us 8 dollars more. I always thought it about making the customer happy?

2nd time here. Much better. Was seated and served very quickly. Lunch took average time to arrive but the GM thought it took a bit longer than normal. And she gave us a coupon for free app next time. Overall I’m pleased with service and food.

This is the first time I’ve eaten at Spuds. My wife ate there when she was a kid in the 80’s but I’ve never been. Every time I drive by a Spuds location they always looked closed. There are a few cars in the parking lot but nothing about the outside of the restaurant looks inviting or tells you they are open. It just looks dark and gloomy. The inside of the restaurant isn’t much better. There aren’t very many windows and the décor and style is something straight out of the 80’s. I honestly don’t think they’ve updated their restaurants in the last 30 years. The staff are friendly enough but nothing to write home about. The food is mediocre at best. I ordered the pot roast and baked potato dinner. The pot roast wasn’t homemade, it was a tv dinner warmed up. It was just thin slices of roast beef, the same stuff you get out of a swansons tv dinner. And it was cold. The baked potato was BAD. I mean it was at least 6 hours old. You could tell it had just been sitting in a heating drawer for hours. I cut into it and was extremely hard and dark brown/yellow on the outside, and mushy on the inside. I sent it back and got fries to replace it. The fries were actually decent. My wife also had to send her food back. The staff and management were very nice about it and didn’t give us a hard time, they kept apologizing over and over again. It turns out this place is named Spuds because of a guy named Spud, it has nothing to do with potatoes but that was pretty obvious when they served me that nasty baked potato. I really didn’t like anything about this place other than the staff were decent and didn’t give us a hard time. I’m not too sure I’ll want to give it a second chance.

We went to this location since we did not have great service in Rowley. Well, service didnt change much in each location. Greeted & sitted promptly. However, when asking our waitress didnt seem to know & would go ask someone. Finally, she just disappeared, we had to keep asking another waitress to assist us; which she was very polite & caring. Our first waitress finally came back with our check — funny. The dry rub ribs were tasty. Both ends of the ribs were burnt. The Teriyaki steak they could have spared more but still good.

We went for the fish and chips and were rewarded with a fried flounder special that was well prepared and very reasonably priced. Nice view of the marsh from the bar. We will be sure to go back for another visit. it’s a nice place to visit with regular folks serving you and sitting next to you, an all around good good value. Kevin K.

Having a relative living down the street from this place, makes it a great idea if you don’t want to drive. Just walk down the street. She’s been living here now… a little over 2 years, and I have just found this place. It won’t be 2 years before my next visit. We arrived at 9 pm, and the place was almost empty. Bar was completely empty, so we sat there. Ordered the Chicken Nachos Supreme for an app. Was very good and will be again(leftovers). Had a small caesar with my meal which was sirloin tips and a baked potato. The salad was good and the sirloin tips were very good. First time I’d ever seen medium well tips appear to be rare… but they did it. Had a couple Blue Moon beers and a diet coke as well. Very reasonable prices. Parking is probably tight, knowing the area, but since we walked, didn’t matter. Service was very good. Nice to have my own bartender, who was fun to talk with. I’d recommend coming here if you want a change from the 99, etc. Great view of the water out the back.

There is a Spud’s in Rowley and there used to be one in Danvers. Spud’s is by far one of the worst and most worn out chains I’ve ever been to. The one in Danvers was only marginally better than the one in Rowley. Rowley was dirty and had flies. Danvers was a bit cleaner but had a surly hostess. Food was yawn inducing.

I grew up down the street(on the Lynn side) of this restaurant so it holds special memories as this was where my grandparents and relatives often ate as did we. The staff is excellent, the food is always tasty and the place may look small from the outside but can easily handle a busy afternoon or dinner rush. Tiny parking lot though so best bet is to park on the street.

This is the worst Spud’s Restaurant ever. Everytime I went there, the food was always wrong. So now I only go to the one in Woburn.
