Positives: fresh fish, daily special rolls, beautiful presentation of the rolls, you can order half of a roll of you don’t want to order an entire roll, great location in the middle of downtown Santa Rosa and a big tv with sports usually on. Negative: probably the most expensive sushi there is, the rolls are tiny for the price, the sushi rice has zero flavor(there’s no hint of rice wine vintage) making the rice & roll bland in flavor, the sushi chef is known at this location NOT to be friendly, the interior is pretty gloomy with dark blue walls with little sunlight… depressing.

Best sushi ever! Santa Rosa rolls are to die for! Great service and the owner is wonderful! She makes me feel like a part of the family when I come in.

Had a wonderful meal here! Staff was friendly and I enjoyed sitting at the bar watching the sushi be prepared.

I found another quiet lunch spot. I tried the salmon teriyaki for lunch today. My meal was served bento style and included miso soup, salad, a few orange slices, potato salad, and stream rice. While the meal as a whole had simple, light flavors, the fish portion was small and partially skinned. I think it would have retained better flavor from the sauce without the skin entirely. I ordered a second miso soup because I was still hungry. I asked for a large«bowl«rather than the typical tiny cups and OHBABY, did my waitress deliver!!! Great service, good food… I’ll be back very soon!

This sushi place is prob my most fav in Santa Rosa. I love the owner Julie she’s always in there working right next to the other employees. My fav roll is the onion ring and the mojojojo. And I always follow up with the tempura bananas and green tea ice cream yummy!

Don’t waste your time or money. The sushi they gave me didn’t even match the description on the menu or the photo online. The crab mix also tasted extremely fake. Top«volcano» and bottom dark side.

Great family owned sushi bar. Not as busy as the San Rafael location, but that’s due to population density. Only wished they had TVs behind the sushi bar… oh and booze

The kamikaze roll was okay at best, the rice tasted old, and the presentation wasn’t great. The Santa Rosa roll was over fried and super heavy on the sauces. The shrimp tempura was again over fried and more rice than anything else. Additionally all the rolls kept falling apart. Not impressed.

Sloppiest sushi I’ve ever seen, and way overpriced. And, the service was crap. Came in for lunch and arrived just before they opened. Wasn’t greeted by anyone, only starred at awkwardly by everyone in the kitchen and the hostess(I assume) who had the worst RBF(Resting Bitch Face) I’ve ever seen. Definitely not a welcoming kinda place. Strike one. My friend orders the same thing every time we eat sushi together, and she said the sashimi and nigiri were not fresh, particularly the prawns, and had a funny smell and taste. Her miso soup was brought to the table but we had no utensils or napkins, so her soup sat there a while until she eventually got a spoon. I ordered the veggie dynamite roll, a half size of the crazy mushroom roll, and another veggie half roll, plus iced tea. I didn’t order anything that contained fish, just veggies, and my bill was $ 36.00! The mushroom roll was tasty but everything else was completely underwhelming. The sauce that accompanies many of their rolls is teriyaki, which is a new one for me personally. They put too much sauce on the plate and roll, and that’s all you can taste is teriyaki. But the worst part was the sloppiness of the rolls. Every single piece of sushi on my plate just fell apart the minute I tried to pick it up with their cheap chopsticks. It was the strangest thing and a real pain in the ass to eat. Also, it was the first time I’ve seen wilted romaine lettuce stuffed inside sushi. It was gross and I picked it out… which wasn’t difficult seeing as the roll had totally fallen apart anyway. The rice was dry which I think contributed to everything falling apart. Not what I expected. Strike two. I wasn’t impressed at all, and after paying $ 40.00 for lunch I left still feeling hungry. Usually one roll does it for me, but their rolls were not as large as most places, even the full size roll I ordered, and it was completely overpriced for what you got. Strike three. I’d rather grab prepackaged sushi at the grocery store before eating at Sushi To Dai For again. It’s sloppy, Americanized Sushi. It didn’t do it for me, and I won’t be back.

I’d have to recommend being brave and and trying a lunch special. I definitely had a fresh, done right dish. I tried out the Blue Fin Belly special, well worth the $ 11.99. A nice portioned serving that filled me up. Came with two other chef’s choices of sashimi, second favorite on the plate would be the hamachi. Though farmed, the yellow tail’s fresh oils were still present, creating a sweet aftertaste. Came with two half sushi rolls that really rounded out the bento box, along with a small serving of well cooked rice. Looked like a pretty extensive roll menu, will be coming back to try a few. Would have to mention the friendly, attentive service made me want to return as well.

Staff are attentive and full of excellent recommendations. Classy place that can accommodate families, too. Fish quality is outstanding. This time I ordered the special and it was the best sushi roll I’ve ever eaten(helps that it includes belly of the blue fin). Prices are in alignment with the quality. This is a great place to be adventurous with new items.

For a smaller city like Santa Rosa(and even for a city like San Francisco), the sushi here wasn’t bad at all. They even had blue fin tuna which I thought was nicely available(not that it’s in short supply or anything). I’d put this place on par with most sushi places. Plenty of rolls available(and specialty custom rolls like so many places do now). Ordered a cold soba dish with some spicy tuna rolls(nothing truly authentic really). Not a bad place at all.

Staying at a hotel close. Ordered 2 rolls in store to go(Dragon and jojojojo). No one was there but it took an hour to get um… Offered me 4 pea pods for the wait. Rolls turned out to be the worst I’ve ever had. Not picky at all. $ 35 gone shoulda got KFC.

It’s decent sushi, I wouldn’t say the best in town, with terrible service. Three of us came in, and each our own roll as a mid day snack. Two rolls got served in about ten minutes and we waited for the remaining roll for 20 minutes to start eating. Turns out, it had been sitting on the counter and never served for some reason– with a garbage receipt on it. They had no apologies, but tried to give me the roll after removing the receipt. I only noticed our missing roll was ready when I got up to use the restroom and could see that was what I ordered.

I have been coming here for years. At times I have eaten here 2 or 3 times a week. They always post specials on the board that are wonderful to try. They have a ton of rolls that are great to share. The service has always been pleasant. My favorite thing to eat is the deepfried jalapeño with kani in it.

Wish I could have tasted the food, but I left due to the ungracious service. They are listed as closing at 10pm. I came in alone at ten past nine and was seated at the sushi bar, was brought a napkin, and was greeted with a smile-accompanied warning that I had ten minutes. «Oh, you don’t close at ten?» I asked. No: 9:30pm. Opting not to be rushed out, I politely got up and said I’d rather not be such an inconvenience, but then was assured with much pleading that, no no, I could stay. Well, that didn’t happen. I don’t want to eat in a restaurant that makes a potential customer feel like a bother and a burden.

I’m picky about sushi, and this place was satisfying. Emphasis on rolls, but they did have items like amaebi when asked; they were not on the menu. They handled our party of eight with no problem. Overall, it was fun, tasty, and enjoyable.

2.5 to be exact. Let’s start with the positives. All the rolls tasted okay. The service was pleasant. The ambience was lacking in decors but well spaced and good bright lighting. The service was slightly slow. When we walked in, no one greeted us or sat us down. We looked around for a while, looking for service, finally they came up and seated us. We asked for some condiments, it came out 5 minutes later. Minus 1 star. The cost of the rolls were on the expensive side. We asked for a substitute for smoked salmon to be fresh salmon, not adding anything. They asked to charge an extra $ 1. A roll that usually cost $ 3 – 4 dollars, cost $ 8 here. The favor of the rolls were slightly on the bland side, with little to no flavor. The raw fish wasn’t horrible, but definitely not fresh. :(Minus 1.5 stars. I’ve tried over hundreds of sushi restaurants including those in Japan. This one isn’t embarrassing, but for the cost, it is definitely not worth it. Would not recommend or come back.
