Adorable book store. They have a wide variety of books as well as other things such as cards, shirts, posters, etc. The people that work there are very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back here when I’m back in town!

Love this shop! Stop by every year in July with my family. Love checking out the new books downstairs and the novelty tees and trinkets upstairs. Just a fun place to spend some time and some money. I’m sure we’ll be by in a day or 2

I loved visiting this book/music store! This nook had a fresh atmosphere with the open windows and doors creating a homey feel. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The day I visited there was a band playing that evening upstairs. Such a best place! The music selection is incredible as well. Lots of variety!

I stopped into Sundog on a Saturday. I was impressed to see an author sitting on the porch answering questions about his book. It was about WWII and Nazis, which I frankly didn’t want to hear about, so I just kept walking, but I was still impressed that he was sitting there to answer questions. Once inside, I meandered around the fiction and popular releases before getting lost in the children’s section with the amazing variety of Little Golden Books(classics and new ones alike) and picture books. I decided to get some as a souvenir for the boys. The employee at the register was quite friendly, though I don’t recall now what exactly we chatted about.

What an AMAZING collection of cards, especially from Palm Press. Needless to say, there’s an extensive collection of books too! This is a «MUSTVISIT» stop when I’m in Seaside!

This book shop sells bestsellers and modern classics, but has a feel of an old time book shop. It’s cute, it’s quaint, and definitely worth a stop by.

I really enjoy coming here. Their staff is always very informative and seem to love their jobs. They are very easy-going and fun to talk to. Anything that they don’t have in stock, Sundog is happy to order. With space being a premium, the overflowing shelves with tomes stacked all over the place gives you the feel of being in a serious Bookworm Paradise. You should be able to find what you’re looking for here, and if by chance you need them to order it, I’m sure the staff can recommend something for you to read in the meantime.

This place is adorbz. They have a decent selection of books, and despite the location and what you might expect, the prices are normal. I found some of my favorite authors(and I’m into Latin American literature, so that’s not always easy) right away in the fiction section. The store itself makes me think of some place that I’d love to spend afternoons in, curled up in a corner with a cup of coffee and a blanket(and, well, reading a book of course, not just being a corner creeper). They also have 30A stickers at the front, which you can get if you donate $ 1 to the local animal shelter. Win-win!

Guy over here to my right bought two books on Physics — Personally, I go to Sundog to get some really great beach reading material. Heck! I didn’t even know they had Physics books! This is the greatest little bookstore ever. I can spend hours in here just browsing the shelves, which are, by all accounts, in an organized state of chaos — I guess that is what is so perfect about Sundog. You can ask any one of the folks behind the counter about any book, and they know EXACTLY where it is! Sundog is in the idyllic town of Seaside and has been around for ages — I have been visiting since 1986 and remember it being near the open air market — They must be doing SOMEthing right to have maintained through all the ups and downs of the economy we’ve seen since the mid-80s, but honestly, who doesn’t need a good book to read when they go to the beach? Sundog is the place to go for the latest from that sought after, hard to find southern writer you’ve been reading about in Garden & Gun, or the next installation of the girlie«drama» book that you’ve somehow gotten hooked on(yes … they also have the über famous, most read(of late) trilogy on hand — right there, when you walk in). Sundog also carries lots from local writers, as well as books of recollections of the history of the area. Just a few weeks ago, I picked up a new book by Harvey Jackson called the Rise and Decline of the Redneck Riviera and am thoroughly enjoying it. You can also pick up a copy of Vintage Life in South Walton, which is a pictorial collection of one of South Walton’s oldest families(the Wallines). AND … While I was checking out a few weeks ago, Seagrove Beach’s own Lynn Nesmith was standing next to me, getting ready for a book signing of her new 30A Style. Since I have Seaside Style(also by Lynn) on my coffee table, this was a perfect opportunity to pick up the newest by Lynn … signed, of course! Sundog also carries some of the most beautiful cards; I seem to always come home with a handful of them on which to write. At Sundog, everyone is super friendly. I don’t believe I’ve ever been in when Bob(the owner) isn’t right there, helping his customers. The gals behind the counter are always very helpful and knowledgeable — The staff picks are definitely worth a look-see, too! So — next time you’re at the beach and you realize you’ve left your book at home(I do this on purpose so I can get goodies at Sundog), stroll into Sundog for a new read — maybe try something from one of the locals! And when you’re done — head up to Central Square Records — they have a fabulous selection of cool music(and some pretty good coffee, too!)

This is my bookstore of choice! It being right by the beach, they don’t care a bit if you stop by with bare feet and a swimsuit coverup on. It’s a small, quaint place with a great book selection. I love to choose from their staff picks, and every thing is well laid out and organized. Upstairs in home to Central Square Records — a cool music shop that is worth checking out. Sundogs is a welcoming book store filled with caring and laid-back employees. Love it!

Love this place. Do yourself a favor: read junk mags on the flight, but go to Sundog for your vacation reading — you’ll find their friendly superbly-read staff eager to guide you, make you smile, and send you off happy. You’ll be back. If every bookstore were like this, we wouldn’t have Kindles. And lots of great books for the kids, too, I might add.

I count Sundog books as my best find since we moved to the Panhandle 3 years ago. Great independent bookstore with knowledgeable, friendly staff. Large selection of books and willingness to order in anything you need.

Love the vibe of this place. It’s small but not cramped. The door stays open, the sun shines through, the floor creaks. Friendly staff, and finally, a great selection of books. In Seaside, it’s a nice little refuge from the parade of adolescents strutting through town, or the stampede of moms on their way to pilates. Definitely hit the record store upstairs, too.

I love this bookstore. We always stop on every trip to pet the dog and buy a book for the beach. They have a great children’s selection, too. My only criticism would be that they don’t have graphic novels. My husband and I love to read comic books on the beach!

Surprisingly good small bookstore in a resort community. Visited this Spring, and found/bought two books on physics(the Universe) I hadn’t seen before. Friendly staff. Good assortment of titles in multiple categories, with a bit better strength in categories that tend to be more popular for vacationers. Free Wi-Fi.

We lived in Niceville for a year before we found this place. As far as I know, it’s the only real independant bookstore in the Panhandle — and oh, what a bookstore! Huge. Lots of books. Everything that comes out that I can’t get at the Barnes and Noble in Destin. Well worth the 45 minute drive. My teenagers LOVE the record store upstairs. Who knew they still had record stores, much less in the middle of nowhere NW Florida? The whole family goes home happy.

Oh Sundog books, how I’ve watched it grow over the years. Twenty years ago, there were only a few shops at Seaside. There was Perspicacity, an art gallery, an ice cream shop(now Roly Poly), Bud and Ally’s, and Sundog books. Sundog and the gallery were each in two of the tiny shops(which have since built out a bit) at the head of Perspicacity. This tiny, size-of-a-postage-stamp bookstore, was a independent bookstore haven. The store was stuffed with bookcase after bookcase after bookcase. With books filling every nook and cranny, piled on the floor and in the unlikeliest of places. But there was a certain order to everything. One could just browse in a section, and find only gems. Each book, a guaranteed good read. I still have every book I bought there. That would be quite a few. A while ago, when Central Square was built, along with amphitheater, Sundog relocated to larger digs. It has somehow maintained the charm of that itty bitty shop. It’s just that now, everything is a little more spread out. There’s enough room to turn around without fear of knocking over stacks of books. Don’t misunderstand me, it is still packed to the gills with brilliantly wonderful books, there’s just more breathing room now. If you are in need of a good read, and of course you are – you’re at the beach, go here! You won’t regret it. Oh, and while you’re there, head upstairs to audiophile heaven: Central Square Records.
