I simply can’t categorize this as a European bakery. Perhaps an aspiring one? Perhaps an American/Middle Eastern bakery that was inspired by European treats? But definitely not European. The Treats: First off, sugar levels are astounding. If you’ve had desserts anywhere in Europe, especially in Venice, you will know that it’s a struggle to find a dessert being oversweetened. From opera cake to Napoleon to the roulette, everything had so much sugar in it. Not my cup of tea. Now, some people may enjoy it, but don’t advertise the business as Venice bakery when you are the farthest thing from it. That is just misleading. The selection: Selection is excellent. There is practically every«European» dessert here. Eyes start to wonder. Mine wondered so much that I had to get several, only to be disappointed by the taste. The place: Casual, clean spot. The interior is nothing to brag about, but is good to enjoy a dessert in a casual atmosphere.

Superb traditional bakery on Wilshire. Colorful selection of cakes, cookies, pastries & sweets at reasonable prices. Especially when you consider what you pay for a Danish or brownie in Whole Foods these days. Everything we have tried has been delicious and exquisitely made. This is the place for a sweet treat or a custom occasion cake around here.

I got a fruit tart. It was amazing! Probably one of the best I’ve had… And the value is great for what it is – an Vienna bakery.

Vienna pastry is a classic bakery that is reasonably priced with great service not cool and trendy but a solid bakery. The main items I purchase here are their cookies. It’s my go to if I don’t have time to make something for a party and I also bring them on client visits. Yesterday I called ahead for 5 dozen mixed cookies and in 15 min they were ready and only $ 22! Not sure where you can get a deal like that on the westside. My client remembered them from the last time and were so excited I brought them again.

I came across this place because my coworkers and I were searching for a legit bakery near our workplace and came across this gem! It’s a cute bakery with tons of options! My recommendations are their HUGE fruit tart which is not only beautiful but delicious as well! And their pear tarts are wonderful! Great neighborhood find!

I love sweets. I dream of cookies, pies, cakes, donuts you name it. On a scale of a 1 to 10 I’m a 20. A total sugar freak. I had a sweet tooth my whole life since I was young. My mom would kid around that I would turn into a giant cavity soon if I keep stuffing my gullet with so much sugar. So I one upped her and would just brushed my teeth after every single sweet thing I ate… which was a lot of brushing. With age, I have grown to understand stuffing my face full of sugar will be the end of me; but hell I am not cutting my self off completely… so yes I indulge now and again. After being cooped up sick at home for the longest 2 days of my life; I was looking for a way to take myself out of this funk this cold brought upon me; and I thought hey what better way to do it than a little éclair or 6 little eclairs. Yes, when I indulge I go BIG! As luck would have it I came across this cute little pastry store which I have passed by a million times since its conveniently located right one door away from my nail salon. Usually I stay a good girl but today I just felt like being bad to the bone and putting on a few pounds. Well, I walked in… and like any true Unilocaler… Unilocalette…whatever, you get it; I whipped out my phone and started taking pictures. Now, let me say, even before Unilocal I always took pictures… of everything… a cat, a dog, a bird, a random painting on the wall, a chair. I’m a picture FREAK. So I take 2 pictures, and suddenly a loud voice screams at me to stop. Wtf!!! I focus my eyes on this screaming lady, and say«I’m sorry… what???»…she tells me again«you can’t take pictures ma’am»…and walks to the back. I’m sorry… first of all; you are a freaking PASTRYSHOP, get over yourself… what you have here is the same crap I can buy at ANY pastry shop. Your eclairs, your fruit tarts, your muffins look exactly the same as they do everywhere. There is nothing special about them!!! Do you think I’m some world renowned baker or your competitor trying to steal your ideas??? I mean seriously; give me a break. Well the joke is on them; because I still took a picture of their fruit tart behind the glass while she wasn’t looking; however instead of a glowing reviews about how good their pastries are I am not giving them a bad review based on their stupid rules that were shouted at me… by the way, nowhere did I see a sign that said«no pictures», and the shouting lady embarrassed me pretty bad yelling at me in front of other people like I am some thief… Again; you are a pastry shop, not a freakin museum. Makes me ponder if the screaming lady has ever heard of Unilocal?Heard of advertising her shop. For me, I’m a visual person, I see something yummy I want to go give that place my business and try it… had she let me take pictures, perhaps it would have brought them more business… just perhaps. I also did browse pictures of Vienna Pastries on Unilocal; and I see plenty of pictures on here of their pastries… so I almost feel like she solely singled me out? Honestly, who cares at this point. I don’t mope over stuff like this, I just post my experience on good ol Unilocal and let people judge for themselves. Verdict: not bad pastries; but leave your phone in the car unless you want to get yelled at for taking a picture of their pastries because God forbid that’s apparently a crime.

They have the cutest most delicious macaroons! And… they are under $ 2. Any pastry you can think of, they have. However, service is definitely better when the owner is there.

I was interested in a custom cake flavor for our wedding after doing my cake tasting. Mitra and co. designed a reasonably priced cake to my specifications that I took to a baby shower, and it was a hit!(Lemon/passionfruit/strawberry cake with real fruit). The cake was a contrast to the heavy chocolate cake there and people enjoyed it. We ordered the same for our wedding. It looked beautiful decorated with flowers, and I am still getting compliments on how light and flavorful it was ! SusieCakes etc. tend to dominate the local market, but I and many others find them overly sweet and rich to the point that every bite just tastes very unhealthy. I’m glad they’ve changed the window displays to feature sophisticated cake designs – they really deserve to get more local wedding cake business.

Picked up a cake from here for an event. Pick up was quick and easy. Cake tasted great and was Kosher Pareve. While picking up the cake I saw the largest challah I have ever seen on their counter. It was beautiful! Everything there looked and smelled great.

There’s not enough Viennese dessert bakeries in California, so it’s a delight that«Vienna Pastry» has all the right stuff and does it with European finesse. Bread pudding cheesecake, white chocolate mousse, lemon meringue, florentine fruit cup, passion fruit cake, apple tarts, cream puffs, canoli, pies, and the very hard to find anywhere, rum balls. #goingfat

I stopped by this place specifically looking for tres leches cake. The cashier said they don’t have cakes however she suggested to get tres leches pastries. These were regular biscuit pastries which were not even fresh. Very bad experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone as there so many better places around.

This little pastry shop is unmatched in Santa Monica. The selection, freshness, quality, and location would suggest a pricey dessert option, but this is not at all the case. Have been here on several locations and each time I come in expecting to leave with one or two treats, only to be reminded of how inexpensive and extensive their selection is. The result is that I walk out with multiple selections. This morning’s purchase included 10 different pastries(all amazing) for a total bill of $ 12.50. Incredible. The size of your stomach will be the limiting factor – not the size of your wallet.

I live around the corner from this place. I walk by, stare inside, drool, and then tell myself that I have some self control and quickly walk away. Well I decided to give in and finally try it. They had cheesecake bites on top that were free samples — delicious. I opted for the raspberry cheese danish and it magnificent. Definitely want to try pretty much everything else in here as soon as possible.

This is such a cute little bakery. Even though it’s on Wilshire, it’s pretty easy to miss as there’s no huge sign or anything. Apparently this mom and pop owned bakery has been here for a while. This was my mom’s favorite childhood bakery. FRUITTARTS: This is one of their best sellers and my mom’s favorite fruit tart. And I think that says a lot as an Asian because we’ve had our fair share of fruit tarts via 85 degrees, JJ Bakery, etc.(#ifyouknowyouknow). APPLEOVERVANILLACAKE: I don’t really know the exact name of this pastry because it wasn’t labeled. It was something I randomly chose, but ended up loving. This was MY favorite! It’s like a vanilla cake with applepie-like apple slices layered on top! This bakery has REALLY reasonable prices… the most reasonable I’ve seen in the LA area.(A big cake costs about $ 10 – 12). I want to come back and try more pastries and cakes! This is definitely a place to pick up and go as seating is scarce. Almost would have given this a five star, if it wasn’t for the lady who was helping me! She was a younger girl who didn’t really seem like she wanted to be there. First, she gave me three small fruit tarts when I had asked for three large ones. Then, she tried to stuff the three fruit tarts in the smaller box she had originally chose… OVERLAPPING the pastries. When is squishing pastries over each other ok? Isn’t that like an unwritten rule or common knowledge? Even the manager gave her a «what are you doing» look. Oh well, maybe it just wasn’t her day.

On our way to get ice cream next door, my husband pointed out Vienna Pastry. Haven’t heard about it on Unilocal,I said, not too excited. Let’s check it out… fine. Walking in, I was floored about the big space compared to other shops in the area. The selection endless and beautifully presented. The owner very nice and took the time to explain what each of the petit fours was. So many cute little bites with a bite size price to boot! $ 1.10 each perfectly crafted confection is a STEAL in this area, I have seen bites go for $ 4 here(and walked out!) I went with a mixed box of goodies and they were ALL amazing! Fresh, light, moist, everything they looked to be. They had so much to chose from, I can’t wait to come back next time I am in the area!

Vienna Pastry is a cute little bakery on Wilshire with reasonable prices. They have a mix of desserts, breads, and pastries including cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pies, croissants, tarts, danishes, and more. Parking is street only, but I lucked into a meter spot right in front … sweet start on my way to get some sweets … Inside, I was impressed with the variety of choices. It was the morning and I was in the mood for some breakfast breads, so, I headed to the back counter. The lady behind the counter waited patiently while I made my choices. An Apple Danish, Poppy Pastry, and a «Croissant-type» thing were hard to resist. It was a little weird after paying because the lady forgot to give me my change back … umm, awkward … I just stood there and she just turned and started talking with a co-worker … after about 90 seconds, I finally asked. In the end, she opened the register and gave the change. I think her mind was just elsewhere and nothing intentional. None of the pastries blew me away and I didn’t even finish the danish. Vienna Pastry slides into the a-ok status thanks to an ok selection with ok prices that match the ok quality.
