This was another spot during our Food Tour in Santa Barbara and one of my least favorite. This wine company is located where there are tons of other wineries next door — which is cute when you step inside the area where they all are. This winery was understaffed which delayed us in our schedule. There was one worker serving our party of 15’s tasting as well as other customers that came in to order wine and taste as well. However, service was great — but she just needed an extra hand. I’m not much of a wine person but the items we got to try were not great to me. If i had to choose which I liked best(I enjoy white over red usually) was the 2013 Sybarite, Sauvignon Blanc. Cute interior too! I suggest trying a few of the wineries in this location along with this spot :)

This was my favorite winery that we visited during our stay. The wines were exceptional! My favorite was the Grenache! The girl who was pouring for us was so sweet and the whole experience was wonderful.

This place was amazing and if I could fit more into my luggage I would have bought way more wine

I was there with Mark S.(Review below) and his review is totally accurate. We had such a nice experience in the«street room» of Margerum — the staff was so nice — and had purchased a couple bottles each. Then went to the«reserve room» and had the exact opposite experience — she was rude and condescending. We will not be back because of the woman pouring in the reserve room.

Cannot say enough good things about this tasting room. Grenache Blanc &M5 bottles were stand outs, but every single wine in the flight was stunning: elegant, well-balanced, just delicious. Go here if you are ready to taste more than just Pinot & Chardonnay. Located in El Paseo, enjoy a walk & outdoor seating in this beautiful plaza. If you are a serious wine drinker — don’t leave without stopping here first.

The wine was good, I did like the M5 and their spicy desert wine(forgot the name but starts with an A) and I liked their regular tasting room but then we went to the reserve room and I have never had an experience that bad at a tasting room. Raini was so rude and condescending, thus the one star. I brought several of my wine friends, we are serious wine people. I myself have a large cellar and have tens of thousands of dollars of high end wine. We know our stuff. Margerum would really help themselves my getting rid of her. We have more than once joined wineries because of the experience but they even have good wines. No way I would go back there if she was there.

The tasting room is very well lit and has a fun feel that goes with the neighborhood. The El Paso area is great for walking around and exploring a few tasting rooms outside the funk zone area. You can’t go wrong with any of the wines and I especially love the M5(blend of 5 grapes — Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Counoise and Cinsault) or a really yummy spin on a GSM(GSM is one of my go to favorite). I love what they have done over the past year to redecorate by adding some stainless steel countertops and a little market that has some really cool stuff. Overall the vibe is cool, the wines are great, reasonably priced = you can’t go wrong here!

Wonderful wine! The atmosphere is tasteful and comfortable. The people are nice. Good anytime of day that they’re open. Even when they’re busy they aren’t too busy to ask you if you need anything.

If I could give a 6, I would. Generous pours, bonus pours even. More than happy to serve, even though we got there right before closing time. Stayed open extra, took great care of us. Awesome wine. Knowledgeable host(even at 24 years old).

Enjoying wine tasting on the patio on a nice Saturday afternoon. We were well taken care of by the staff. Highly recommend. They can accommodate our party of 14 perfectly outdoors with a couple cheese platters from wine cask next door.

Overall great experience. Not only is the wine high quality and delicious, but Laura was a lot of fun during our tasting, which of course added to the ambiance of the tasting room. This was one of our last wine tastings on Monday, May 17th, 2015, and we both agreed that it was our favorite. Special thanks to Laura for making us feel so welcome and sending us back to Las Vegas with some delicious wine!

Margerum has some excellent wines! All of the wines they selected for tasting were unique, flavorful, and generally awesome. We all particularly liked the M5 Rhone Blend! Stephanie did a great job hosting us, and she also was really helpful in giving us ideas for where to spend the rest of our day. What a great time!

DUDE. I came here with a random couple I met at another tasting room down the street. I’ve been coming back ever since. GETTHEDANGROSE. It is life changing. Seriously. Not your mother’s rose. It is light and fruity but with a complexity that makes it absolutely perfect. So good! The service is great and the tasting room vibe is always on point. They have a number of other wines which are great, but my review is mainly due to my love for the rose. Fun spot in the wine cask.

Wines — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Décor & Cleanliness — 5 stars Of the four wineries I visited on my CA, Margerum poured the best I had all around. The gentlemen pouring were friendly and engaging and their wine knowledge also extended to whiskeys and beers. Bottles and memberships are reasonable priced so I would highly recommend an experience here.

This was our first tasting of the day and it was by far the most ‘formal’ tasting we did. It just wasn’t as relaxed as the rest of the places we visited. The wine was great, not much on the sweeter side, but we had a great time and our service was super friendly and easy to talk to. We ended up buying a bottle to take home.

Killer wine, nice family and an awesome team in the tasting room. What more do you need. I’ve been a wine club member since I moved to Santa Barbara in 2006 and let me tell you why, it’s the people. Sure the M5 is a simply delicious blend and is my staple red but the people make it my tops. Quickly back to the M5. While every palate is different, I’ve yet to pour a glass and have someone not like it. The price point is in the mid $ 20s depending on where you go and it goes with just about everything. On the wine aside, which is a crucial part of the equation, Doug Margerum runs a good show. You won’t see him that often but Hugh Margerum, on the other hand, can been seen almost daily keeping tabs on the tasting room and it’s members. He knows most by name and welcomes a conversation about life, art or of course, the family label. The team behind the team, so to speak, is run by Rani and her talented staff in the tasting room. Once you meet her, you’ll never forget her laugh and smile as she beckons you for a tasting. She makes mean mole enchiladas too. Another wonderful smile behind the bar belongs to Claudia. She’s a gem and who I change my tasting schedule for to make sure I visit with her on Saturdays. When I say it’s about the people, it’s about the family and I feel privileged to be part of theirs. The wine? You bet it’s good from the crisp and slightly sweet(almost too sweet for me) Rose’ on a hot summer’s day to the D Sauvignon Blanc for a little lighter, evening affair, the whites will win you over. On the darker side, the Grenache is always a winner for me and the Alondra de los Prados Syrah comes home by the case. Delicious! Nothing compares to the extremely popular M5. I could go on about how easy it is to drink but I’d prefer if you tried it for yourself. My wine family at the Margerum tasting room will hook you up. Join the club and enjoy the benefits including the great parties. Don’t forget to tell them Mark says«hi». Cheers my friends
