Hidden gem. A friend took me here on a mission to cure a bad hangover. I had the Green Pozole and potato tacos. Best Pozole I’ve ever had, period. Next time, I want to try the Red Pozole, but I have a feeling I will not be able to resist ordering the Pozole Verde again. It’s so good. The potato tacos were great, too, but the Pozole Verde steals the show. There were some shifty-looking characters and cholos hanging out in the strip mall parking lot, but the element of danger adds to the experience, in my opinion. Just don’t make eye contact with anyone and keep your eyes on the prize– the Green Pozole. Making it back to the car without getting shanked makes the whole experience feel even more rewarding. 5 stars.

I’ve been here a few times ever since a friend turned me on to there green pozole. The best pozole I’ve ever had by far. Today I decided to try something different, big mistake. I ordered the enchiladas a la Michoacana that come with a side of meat. I ordered carne asada. Before receiving our order, I noticed the cook go to the market next door and noticed he brought back a clear plastic bag with what looked like red meat(beef). I thought it kind of odd but brushed it off. Then I tasted my meal and the meat tasted like it was days past its expiration date and ruined my whole meal. My wife felt sorry for me and left me some of her green pozole which was outstanding. Moral of the story, stick with green pozole at this place. To their credit, they didn’t charge me extra for the carne asada.

This is a little hole in the wall but it was so worth coming in. The Posole verde was amazing. The side plate of the tacos de papa and the stuffed jalapeño was a plus! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Love this place. Hole in the wall. You know its delicious when there’s Mexicans there for Mexican food. Their pozole Verde is my favorite. Estilo Guerrero. My other favorites: menudo y caldo de res(rojo). You’ll love the tortillas. And yes, they have beer. Don’t expect to arrive to a fancy place. Its behind a 7 – 11 and next to some carnicerias/liquors.

This place is pretty good. My girl and I decided to get some pozole today. She told me it was in a sketchy area, but I know its not. The plaza could use a touch up but I don’t mind. The place is like a little hole in the wall although its not. We ordered 2 pozole Verde but the waitress forgot 1 order. There was a little miscommunication due to a language barrier. No biggie it is understandable. The second order eventually came. Each order is a large serving of pozole with chopped lettuce, diced onions, 2 potato taquitos, radishs, lime, avocado, and cracklings on the side. Soo yummy. At the end when I paid, the waitress gave us 2 flan to go because of her mistake on the order of pozole. These people are very kind and generous. It’s a great place to munch. Give it a try! :)

I stopped by the place on a whim due to the high stars. I ordered el pozole guero with the works as toppings. WOW!!! It was amazing. I could eat it again. HOWEVER…I won’t ever come back here. #1 I have driven past this stopping center many, many times and have always commented that it is dirty and eyesore… so when map quest directed me here… well I wasn’t that happy. That being said the inside of the place is modest and appears to be clean… no one knows what goes on in the back. #2 as soon as I drove up… what appeared to be a shady deal was going on. This won’t be the 1st or last time that I see this. I was so impressed by my order, I called my husband and told him while at the market and CALLED in an order for him. Taquitos de papa and wet burrito, all meat with the sauce on the side so that the tortilla doesn’t soak and fall apart. When I picked up my order, happy to share with the husband my great new place to eat, it was wrong. The burrito had everything in it, and no sauce to be found. When I questioned the woman who was helping me. She said the order was correct. Instead of apologizing or giving me the sauce that I wanted for the burrito the friggin bitch(figure out the words that match these) had the nerve to tell me that when I learn to order food I will never have this problem again. I asked to speak to the owner instantly. I work in customer service and you NEVER, EVER, EVER speak to a customer like this, even when they deserve it. She claimed to be one of the owners. I will NEVER return to this shit hole. Regardless if they have great food or not.

Came here with a friend after someone recommend the place. My non-mexican friend was afraid to leave the car but I reassured her it was okay. We came on a Friday night and there was plenty of tables open. The waitress greeted us immediately and was attentive during our entire stay. I decided to order the green pozole since I had never tried this type of pozole(My family is from Jalisco and we eat the red). It was good pozole! Was it better than my moms red pozole? No! Would I order it again? Yes. Did not really like the potato tacos. For potato tacos go down the street to Alebrije’s Grill. Overall experience: Good!

Mom and pop places are always good. The problem I usually run into is what price point they’re selling at. You can’t make a good meal when you have to use cheap cuts of meat. This place tries it best. Support a local business and try it out.

Living in Santa Ana I guess you can say there is a wide selection Mexican eating establishments, so it was hard for me to find a spot that had an authentic pozole. Thanks to Unilocal,I believe I found my go to spot when I’m craving pozole. Believe or not, during my adolescent years, I had a fair share of home cooked pozole from living at my childhood friends houses that were Mexican. So to find and good authentic pozole brings back memories of my youth. Anyhow, enough about my past. Let’s talk about the amazing pozole here. So far I had their green and red. I personally prefer the red even though others might say the green is better. I guess it’s all on preference. The restaurant is located in a plaza that looks hella shady, so don’t be alarmed. The staff are really friendly and the portions of pozole are a good size. One serving can be shared. Overall I would say this place is legit.

Had a puerco asado special. Great flavor to the meat, rice, and beans. Homemade corn tortillas. These are a must order. Delicious. Salsa that comes with the chips might make your brow sweat, but does a solid job as an add on to the tacos that you make out of your plate. You aren’t having a romantic date here. You are going strictly for the food.

Went looking for good pozole, found good pozole. We drove out from the Irvine area just to go to this place because of the other reviews we read and we were not disappointed! The staff was over the top friendly and it had a very cozy«home made» style ambiance to the place without any of the grunge that I find can be hard to come by. The food was made to order, the vegetables and meat fresh. Generous enough portions that I would be comfortable ordering one order for two people. I can’t speak to the other dishes but given what we had I would be comfortable trying many of the items on their menu. One note: If you are going to pay with card and you want to leave a tip, make sure you tell her before they run your card or else you can’t tip! We felt pretty bad about it as we had no cash on us, but the staff were very understanding(it almost seemed like she didn’t want a tip, because we offered to purchase something else so she could rerun the card and she declined)

I am currently in this crazy phase for Mexican soup. Based off of my research, there’s a million different types of soup. So now I am on a quest to try them all!!! I started off with pozole! I tried the pozole rojo first and I freaking loved it!!! I couldn’t believe how much crap came with soup! My soup came with avocados, lettuce, fried tortillas, onions, oregano and some spices! $ 8! This soup really hit the spot for me! I was sooooo excited to try the huchepo(corn tamale) and I was not a fan of it, whatsoever. Trust me I tried because if you know me, I am an avid fan of corn. and tamales. But more corn! The taste was just off to me. It had a weird sweet taste to it. Perhaps that’s what huchepo is suppose to taste like? But I didn’t like it at all. :( So I came back for their pozole verde and it was great, but I enjoyed the pozole rojo more! Pozole verde came with a lot of side dishes such as potato taquitos, fried pork rinds, stuffed jalapeño, lettuce, onions, and avocado. I don’t know why but the pozole verde didn’t wow me like how other Unilocalers described it. I think its because I rather have the fried tortilla than the pork rinds and the soup itself wasn’t as tasty. I’m pretty sure I’ll come back for it again. Oh and the stuffed jalapeño. Delish! :) Las Brisas, you truly did satisfy my soup craving!:) **Yelpers, if you have any suggestions where I can try other soups, please be a doll & let me know! Enjoy! :)

The short version: if you like Mexican food, eat here. The long version: I was in the mood for Menudo today. If you live in Santa Ana you know Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen and most serve Menudo that leaves more to be desired. Today, that all changed. First off yes I was hesitant to eat there because it is very much a hole in the wall place but you sometimes find a gem in the rough. I ordered tamarindo water and menudo. To my surprise(and delight) the waitress brought me a glass of HOMEMADE Agua de Tamarindo. It was awesome. When the menudo came I added the cilantro, onions, lemon and peppers and tasted it. It was heaven! I then go to grab a tortilla and though I thought this place was already my favorite restaurant, I find homemade tortillas in the tortilla warmer! Good God. I love this place. Can I give them 100 stars???

People — you MUST try the quail in green sauce. Also the ribs in red sauce. Amazing chile flavor with little heat. You won’t get much better in Mexico. Also, make sure to out a touch of chicharron in each bite of green pozole. It gives an additional savory kick that pushes this dish over the top.

From what I am told this is very authentic Mexican food. I went in here with the intent to try something new. So I was not going to get an enchilada, burito, fajita, or taco. The first thing that I noticed was that the restaurant is actually has people of the same ethnicity as the food they are serving. I have always believed that if you go into a restaurant and people of the ethnicity of the food they are serving are not there, there is likely something questionable about the food. The second thing I noticed was that I had no idea what to order. I ended up ordered pozole verde(sp?) and a Sopes. I have never had a Sopes befre, but I definitely liked it. The pozole verde was very good too, though I wasn’t a fan of the«pork rind». The service was pretty good, the people were very nice, they didn’t have yoli, maybe next time I guess. The portion sizes were huge for the amount of food that I got, and I really left full. Their salsa was muey caliente.

A hole-in-the-wall in a Santa Ana strip mall. Be prepared to be the only non-Latinos there. The Pozole Verde is like Mexican chicken soup(only with pork) — authentic, homey and very soul satisfying. Top it with some chicharrones, shredded cabbage, and a squeeze of lime and you will be instantly transported to Apatzingan. I also like to sprinkle some dried oregano and chili powder on top just to kick it up a notch. The Chicken Enchiladas, on the other hand, were a bit on the dry side. The authentic flavor was there, to be sure, but the chicken filling just needed more sauce or cheese … or something. Probably not a dish worth driving to Santa Ana for, as I can find the same or better at other places closer to home(Irvine). 3 ½ stars
