This place is the real deal! Their pechuga de pollo and mole rojo are bomblicious!!! It might be a little whole on the wall but trust me on this one, they serve real homemade Mexican food. I honestly give it a 10 stars!

I. Love. This. Place. I found this place years ago when I was hellbent on finding a legit Mexican restaurant that would serve me delicious nachos and wouldn’t stop driving around until I found one. Enter Taqueria el Jacalito. They were my saving grace that night and I returned many times for their delicious carne asada nachos, for which I am extra grateful that they use shitty nacho cheese on. None of this real grated cheese nonsense. Cue the angels singing when they pour that delicious golden gooeyness on top of their homemade tortilla chips. Their portions are large. Their prices are cheap. My recommendation is that you sit there and eat. I do like to take my food to go on occasion because I don’t always have time, but items like nachos don’t exactly hold their own through the long drive home. Also, cash only.

The carne asada was pretty solid but the al pastor was just warm, flavorless calories. The tacos are big but when they taste like nothing it’s a super-sized disappointment. Move on.

My husband brought me when I was 16. It was my 1st time. A year later we got married. Damn it must have been that good! Lol All jokes aside this place was 5 stars 13 yrs ago. The asada tacos were the best tacos in Santa Ana. Then one day we went back and I didn’t like the place as much anymore. The food has no flavor and there’s no alcohol at all to top it off. I wish the tacos were how they used to be. The place has no A/C and it’s always hot in there. It might be because it’s such a small place. There is one plate that is okay and that’s the burrito mojado(wet burrito) which I order with green sauce, cilantro, onions, and asada inside. It has sour cream and melted cheese on the top.
