Went by today to give them their third and final try and learned they had closed. 3yrs ago, I used to eat there at least once or twice a week. It wasn’t until I went to locations out of state to realize the service was extremely slow. I learned to navigate the system. Get my drink, a to go drink, a check before I finished eating so I would not have to wait long. Once I started to see long time staff leave, it really went down hill. The last two times, you could feel it wasn’t my beloved restaurant. Station wasn’t kept up, stuff just felt questionable. Well, they had a good run. Guess, I have to wait until I go out of town to get my fix.

I hate to pile on and add to the already growing number of bad reviews, but my latest experience was expensive and quite disappointing. The restaurant was fairly empty when I visited. They had a ton of waitresses standing around chatting and two people who manned the grill and stocked the food bar as needed. So here’s the good, the bad and the ugly: The good — everyone was pleasant The bad? There was no bad, it was just ugly. The store was filthy. The counter tops at the food, sauce and even in the bar area(placed a to go order) were sticky. The sauce cups literally slid in some sort of wet substance at the sauce stand. I also question the freshness of the vegetables although the meat, oddly enough, seemed to be okay. And what’s with the lighting??? The restaurant was lit very low and probably a good thing considering how filthy this place was. Last but not least, my meal cost $ 11.76. That’s a lot of money for food that doesn’t taste so good and makes you feel slightly sick after eating. I won’t be back.

I have to say that because of my experience at another location in Augusta and comparing it, my feelings of the restaurant here leave me feeling a little ambivalent. The fact is the food is very good, don’t get me wrong(other than my meats and spinach being a little burnt and I got regular eggs as opposed to egg whites as I’d requested). The staff was courteous but there were a few things that were a couple of hairs short of my expectations. Granted, I had brought my husband in during the very start of the lunch rush and I know the Perimeter area can just be busy, to say the least. Our server however was a little hard to get a hold of(she seemed rather rushed and all over the place) and it took a few tries to get our glasses refilled and our rice wasn’t all the way cooked.
It wasn’t the best first impression of this location food-wise, but the resolve and attendance was superb. Our waitress took our concerns into consideration and seemed as constructive points for the future. In other areas, cleanliness is on par here. There is a great ambiance and the floors are clean as also are the restrooms and well-stocked. I’d say this is a great place for a group outing or a meet-up and for something a little new. Try the Blue Fishbowl drink though! It is very tasty!

Trust the negative reviews. I’ve been to quite a few Mongolian BBQ places, they’re all the same. You get a bowl, choose your starch, veggies, sauce and protein and it’s cooked on an oversized hibachi grill and brought back to your table. That is not the case at Ghengi’s. We walked in at 11:30AM on a Saturday and the guy at the front hostess stand looked surprised to see us. Half the lights weren’t on, no music was playing over the speakers, the floor was sticky and dirty and the menus they gave us were so old and faded they were hard to read. The table the waiter begrudgingly sat us at, was just like the floor-dirty. There was a large rip in the booth bench that was oddly seeping water. At Ghengi’s you first choose a bowl size: small, medium or large. If you want all you can eat add $ 4.99 to the bowl price. «Why get a large bowl if you choose all you can eat?» I asked. The waiter shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I walked up to the first section of the bar where you choose your protein and there was a strong aroma of bad seafood. The containers of raw meat looked like they were left out over night. The chicken was jelled together and the beef had an oily sheen. I put my bowl back on the counter and walked out.

Currently at this restaurant and it’s down right awful. The server is wearing sunglasses… Wtf and the other server is slouched over her computer. It’s so dirty here and messy the service is poor. Even after waiting in line to pick our ingredients we still didn’t get our drinks. Which were water and sweet tea. Not hard and not busy at all on a Sunday. Seems to have no management which is pretty sad since the last time I came here which was probably 7 months ago it was a night and day difference. AKA do NOT eat here!!! All the employees are slow and lack knowledge of anything that has to do w this restaurant. I have pictures of the ingredients line but they don’t clearly show how dirty it is. EW

First time here for lunch and I will not be back. It’s disorganized and dirty. Waited over 30 minutes for food.

The flavors at Genghis Grill make this place unique. They have your typical choices of starches, protien, vegetables, etc but their sauces and seasonings are outstanding. Food came out great tasting and satisfying. It beats chow baby, because they give you mixed sauces. Chow baby gives ingredients! I went with my husband in the summer and the condensation from their air conditioner was dripping on every table… they tried to seat us at a table with water dropping on us until I asked to move… they were reluctant because I think it was going to mess up the waitstaff’s structure.

The place is going down hill quick. Food is ok, but service is poor. Not sure why it took 30 min to tell us they did not have what we ordered.

Had a quick dinner here tonight and really wish I could leave more stars — the food was yummy and reasonably priced. However, the service was absolutely abysmal. Not only does it bring the review down, but it makes it very unlikely that I’ll return to this particular location. I really enjoy Mongolian grills. The concept is that you fill a bowl with a protein and veggies, adding seasoning and sauce to your preference, and then have it grilled and served over rice or noodles. I arrived with a friend at about 5:45. Not the dinner rush, but not such a weird time that we should have had to wait for someone to appear and seat us(we were the only guests) and then wait for someone else to come out and give us bowls(none were ready and waiting.) We filled our bowls up with goodies and proceeded to the grill, where a man who introduced himself as «the grill master» took our food and pointed out a jar full of $ 1s and change. My friend, Unilocaler Edward L., arches an, «Are you seriously doing that?» eyebrow at him. Yes, he was. The man said, «Will you please show a little gratuity to the grill master?» I have never before in my life had a server — or anyone you would traditionally tip — ask me to tip. It’s implied. Pointing at the jar and asking me if I would like to tip you? That’s just obnoxious.(No, for the record, we didn’t — though we both had singles ready and were planning to before he said that.) The waitress dropped off our waters and checked once to see if we were okay. Not bad service there, but not terribly attentive.

They better be glad that the food is tasty; otherwise Genghis Grill would be getting 1 star! The service here is AWFUL. Concept of the restaurant is simple. Make a bowl of raw food and give it to a cook to stir-fry. I came here with Jennifer D. and the server failed to explain anything to us. In fact, we were looked at as fools when we tried to make our food bowl. We wondered around with no direction on where to go or where to find our supplies. What really topped this experience off was that the cook ASKEDFOR A TIP. WHODOESTHAT??? To add salt to the burn, the waitress never came by to check up on us. At least the food was good.

I love the concept of this restaurant. You basically create your own bowl of raw meats, vegetables, eggs, sauces etc. and then give it to the chefs who cook it for you. When your bowl is cooked and ready, your personal bowl is then brought to your table. All the bowls I’ve made have been pretty good. I especially enjoy the chicken and scallops. You can choose how much or how little of each ingredient you want. They even have a list of recommended bowls and ingredients if you’re looking for something a bit more traditional. They have all kinds of meats and seafood to choose from. For example, chicken, scallops, calamari, imitation crab, pork, etc. They also have all kinds of veggies to add on. For example, onions, snap peas, carrots, broccoli, bean sprouts, peppers, etc. You then make your own sauce from the sauces they have on the sauce bar. You can stick to only one sauce or mix and match. All bowls come out differently! I’ve had some good and some bad but the only reason is wasn’t up to par was because the grill left the food too charred or the chef didn’t cook the food all the way. WARNING: DONOTUSETOOMUCHSEASONING! Your perfect bowl awaits!

Genghis grill is one of those places that you start reviewing, but realize that you are struggling to show any sort of emotion in the review. However, this is exactly how I feel about this restaurant and perhaps, it is the most accurate recollection of my experience. Service: excellent, we were seated immediately, server was attentive and the food got cooked quickly Ambiance: average, nothing special to note Food: ultimately, you are given all the ingredients and can make the food as good as you want it to be. Cleanliness was decent. However, the fishy smell around the raw meats area was unbearable, telling me that their seafood must not be very fresh.

This Genghis Grill has a larger variety of meats and produce than the one that I regularly enjoy in Arizona. The staff is very helpful in explaining how it works to create your own customized bowl meal. My favorite part about it is, based upon your palate, they give helpful recommendations as to which seasonings and sauces and how much of each you may like. The 3G sauce, Kotsu and dragon sauce over udon noodles… Yummm. I really hate when these Nuevo restaurants have a pluthera of ingredients for you to build your own meal and you’re really stabbing in the dark to hope that it tastes great. If you knew how to do it, you would’ve done it at home, right? This was the best tepanyaki I’ve ever had in my life! The strawberry tea was delicious as well. What a great value!

I love coming to Genghis Grill, especially when you want a lot of food for your money. Yes there are 3 bowl sizes that vary in cost, however you can load it up as much as you can, so make sure you pile it on. Yes the serving method is a little unconventional and may appear to be unclean but in the 4 months I’ve been here there have never been any issues that I have encountered. The food is always cooked well and tastes amazing. The people here only add to the experience, our favorite manager, Mike, treats us like family when we arrive as do all of the other staff members. This is my go to place for food.

Hmm, what to say about Genghis Grill that hasn’t already been said before? Not much, really. I came here after receiving a Free Birthday Bowl coupon in my email that entitled me to a free bowl. After I had already ordered, I realized that it didn’t actually specify the size. So, potentially, you could get a large bowl for free here. At least it seemed that way to me. The servers here are incredibly friendly, and very efficient. So that was a plus. However, it’s rather true about the messiness of the food prep area… It seems like nothing is really controlled in its own container, and the smell of fish is heavy(this means it’s not fresh, so I’d recommend no one get the fish here). When the workers made the actual bowl on the grill, they didn’t use gloves. So they were cracking eggs without gloves. Which I do all the time, but I know that parts of egg sometimes get on my hands, which leads potential for cross contamination since they touch all sorts of things throughout the day. Not sure if I’d come back… The service was excellent, and I feel like if they got the food-prep area organized, they could easily get 4 stars because of that awesome service. But as it stands now… it seems like they have a little ways to go. That third star is for the customer service. Probably more a 2 star place, just because of the concern with cleanliness.

Don’t expect unlimited bowls anymore. I won’t be returning. The service was awful! The server took or drink orders and NEVER came back… not to check on us, not to give us the bill, not to take our money. Will never be coming back!

We came right after lunch rush hour, between 1:30 — 2PM. Maybe it was right after their rush, but we found the ingredients area where you fill your bowl a huge mess. Talk about cross contamination! The staff are friendly, and there were plenty of staff wandering around… and they did just that. There was no sense or urgency, seemed like everyone was just moving in water. If you needed something, there was no one to ask even though they were surrounding the perimeter of the dining area. Only two stars… remember when I mentioned cross contamination? Yeah… not pleasant a few hours later.

The service staff was NOT helpful as it was my first time there and I told the hostess upon entering. So when I looked lost, the grill master got someone to walk me through the line. She was quick and very general with the explanation. I was surprised since the restaurant was empty and it was just staff members socializing with each other. FOOD: I had shrimp, calamari, tofu, and veggies with honey soy sauce. After you get the ingredients and sauce, you give your bowl to the grill master and then pay while you wait. The food was ok and service sucks! Not coming back again.

Brother-in-law, his daughter, wifey and I had dinner here. While I would not rate this as the greatest Mongolian Grill I have ever been to, it was quite a bit better than I expected after reading the reviews. Service…not as bad as others have said, but not a great one either… but…hey, c’mon it is a Mongolian grill in a strip mall… I do not expect Ruth’s Chris type service! Our waiter kept our water filled up and the food was delivered hot… about what I expected. Food…go up, pick your protein(s), veggies, season it, sauce it, offer it to the grill guy… and out it comes. Some of the proteins were obviously frozen(I did not expect the freshest of fresh at a place like this!), but they could thaw them out before putting them out! The veggies seemed relatively fresh… Sauces were pretty good. All in all… for a place like this… it is A-OK…
