I went here for a lunch and ordered some chowder with the Bucket of Mussels or Clams (served with sourdough bread). Everything was great! All of their dishes are so fresh and well prepared!

Not sure why all the bad ratings. San Marino seafood offers very fresh and tasty seafood. The fish is always perfectly cooked and always fresh. The crab quesidilla showcases the sweetness of the crab meat and the gumbo is full of fish, shrimp, scallop, and andouille sausage. The sandwiches are so yummy and the bread has the perfect amount of chewiness. Love this place. Only too bad they close early.

Even though the prices are a little overboard. This place is try best to eat some fresh caught fish and crab and all kinds of seafood. I liked the crab quesedia and most of the seafood there. The food is bomb there and nothing else can beat the San Marino Seafood area like anything else. This place is a must try and I beg people to even dare this place to friends.

I’m upping my review because you can’t find fresher quality seafood anywhere in the area in such a casual atmosphere. Stopped by this time for dinner. We opted to sit inside, even though there were some seats outside on this peaceful early evening. Inside, there’s a tv and the NBA Final game was on. Cool. I ordered one of the specials of the day, the salmon. It was Excellent. Exactly what I was looking for: fresh, grilled, and no sauces. As a side I had the asparagus and this prepared perfect, as well. Hubby tried the fish & chips and declared it the best he ever had. Lightly bread and thinner pieces of fish, I enjoyed the few bites I tried. We will definitely return.

I tried this place out yesterday with my husband. I got the jumbo shrimp and scallop combo and a side off sautéed spinach. The shrimp and scallops were huge! Very flavorful and fresh. The meal was $ 22, and it also can with clam chowder. I wasn’t really impressed with the clam chowder, alittle bland for husband got a crab salad sandwich and he really liked it. Big portion, and he loved the sour dough bread it can on. I would definitely go back. They also sale seafood. It’s pricier then the super market but I think it’s because it’s fresh. Good selection.

Fairly expensive and not that tasty. I ordered a crab sandwich that wasn’t very flavorful though they did use real crab which I appreciated. The clams in broth also lacked some flavor but I got a generous amount of bread to dip into the broth.

Last week I came here and had the best New England clam chowder in my life. Tonight I came back to buy some more clam chowder and sadly the quality was not the same. The clam chowder tonight was soupy. It was not thick and creamy like last week. It was also very peppery. It’s really disappointing that they lack consistency. Compare both pictures of the chowder from my first review to this and you’ll notice the difference.

Fresh seafood. Cute décor. San Marino prices. Yes, I’m a fan. Especially love the bucket of clams(comes with smokey charred sourdough bread). I usually get this as my entrée because I love it so much! Great as an appetizer to share or an entrée for yourself. I’ve tried many of the items on the menu and they all taste great. A lot of people dock stars for the price and I agree. Depending on what you order, you may not be getting a huge portion. But hey, San Marino rent = inflated prices. Tip: If you want a nice crisp white wine to go with the yummy seafood(and happened to forget your bottle at home), go next door and grab a bottle from the wine shop. Free corkage at San Marino Seafood but they charge a small fee per glass.

Ordered 4items Bread bowl of clam chowder Clam chowder & half tuna sandwich The clam chowder was salty and spicy with too much pepper in it. I couldnt feel the smooth and milky taste of white sauce with clam. Tuna sandwich– they put the top sluce of tomato, folded full leaf of romaine.(Please cut in half) Sourdough bread half burnt Only jumbo shrimp cocktail was good Sadly Dissapointed.

Found this place from Unilocal, has good reviews? I ordered three sandwiches cost me $ 50. Me and my hubby we love enjoy the good food so we don’t really care about the price. But this time we made mistake… When I tried the carb meat sandwich Oh my god has NO flavor at all. Other two sandwiches I ordered I don’t even want to talk about it… We feel very disappointed! The sandwich has NO flavor and way too expensive totally over priced for what they give you! Ps the service there is cold not friendly at all! Never go back!

I ate lunch at San Marino Seafood in San Marino, CA on 1÷6÷2016. I’ve been there many times before. This time I had their wild salmon sandwich($ 14.95), a cup of New England chowder($ 4.95) and coffee($ 2.25). Good food and good service. Plus, I took photos.

At first glance, this place may appear quite humble, small, and so casual that you might wonder if it’s not mostly a take-out place. Maybe it’s primarily a small fish market, I thought to myself. I even asked if there was a dining room apart from the few tables in front of the fish counter ! «This is it,» I was told… Oh, but what amazing food came out of their kitchen ! The fish is charcoal grilled to a flakey, tasty and juicy perfection. The waitress thoughtfully told us they usually lightly flour the Snapper, but they were quite willing to do it without the coating. They must have cooked it over the open flames gently and with great care, as the result was the most beautifully tender, flakey, and delicious fish I’ve had anywhere ! The Sauteed Spinach was so tender, buttery and flavorful with just a bit of red onion and garlic. Of the many sides, we ordered the medley of Summer Squash with Zucchini and Yellow Squash. They were cut very nicely on the long angle, and cooked«al dente» retaining their beautiful colors and juicy flavor. I will have try their New England Clam Chowder(and most likely the Manhattan Clam Chowder as well) as it came out looking like it had risen like fresh baked bread, proudly sitting atop the already full bowl ! I had a Combo Fish Salad with a very generous serving of the best, smokiest, Smoked Salmon I’ve ever tasted, along with Smoked Albacore, and Large Shrimp that they called«medium.» The very substantial and enjoyable salad kept me «oohing«at every bite ! It got even better when the waitress cheerfully brought me an extra bowl of freshly chopped tomatoes ! Without our asking, our waitress, Bridget also brought us several of their homemade salad dressings along with a very tasty and creamy Tartar Sauce, which was made with a touch of fresh dill — just as I would make it at home ! The Caesar and the Creamy Blue Cheese dressings were very good. If the Thousand Island was a little bland, their Sesame Dressing packed a punch of it’s own — a nice touch for dipping the Shrimp occasionally(when I wasn’t dipping them in the great Blue Cheese dressing.) We arrived at an «odd hour» and so saw only an empty dining area, but in just a little while the place was filled with many happy diners. Quite a few seemed to be «regulars» as they knew exactly what they wanted to order that would bring them a big smile ! I would go back again and again for such wonderful food and service ! If you’re ever visiting the Huntington Library and Gardens, you are very close to this little gem of a place !

Finally got the chance to try out San Marino Seafood for lunch after passing by this place on Huntington countless times. 4 stars for the ambiance and 3 stars for the food, but 2 stars for the price and service, so I’m giving San Marino Seafood 3 stars overall. Between my coworkers and I, we had the chance to try the New England Cham Chowder, Tuna Sandwich, Breaded Calamari Steak, Seared Ahi Tuna, and Sashimi Plate. The food was just okay. Nothing stood out to me as memorable or special, but just okay. The bill after tax and tip was included was $ 110.00! Definitely San Marino prices! Dinner prices are definitely higher so we were glad that we stopped by for lunch. Besides the restaurant portion, there’s also a section where fresh seafood is available. This section is pretty small and offerings are pretty limited, and I would rather drive to Glendale and go to Fish King.

This was horrible. Perhaps I totally missed what other helpers seem to like so much but the food here was terrible. We got the fish and chips($ 14.95) and the snapper($ 17.95). I chose the sweet chili glaze. It was lightly coated so that you could taste the fish. Unfortunately, the snapper tasted fishy so it was not very fresh. The snapper comes with two sides and I got the sautéed spinach and smashed potatoes. Everything was pretty bland and tasteless. We also tried a cup of the white clam chowder($ 4.95). I thought this was salty and not very tasty but it was at least better than the snapper. The fish and chips were ok. It was two larger pieces of fish. The fish was pretty thin so there was a lot of breading and not so much fish. The fries were ok but a portion if them were soggy. The service at the restaurant is also subpar. Our server was clearly indifferent to our needs and it was not just us. The table next to us was complaining about the sun being in their faces. Instead if offering to love them to one if the other surrounding empty tables, he just ignored their comments and kind of pushed them to hurry with their order. This is a small restaurant with a fish market. There is seating indoors and outdoors. The key draw here is probably the fact that it is one of the few restaurants in the are. As I detailed in my review, I was not satisfied with the food or the service. I would not come back and would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Unilocal sums it up perfectly for two stars«Meh. I’ve experienced better». It’s a bit weird coming here since they probably don’t know if you’re dining in or just buying some seafood… still. we weren’t asked if we were dining in or how many in our party or anything. meh. service was attentive for the most part but they neglected to mention a couple of things which i’ll mention later on Apps: clam chowders, one of each kind. — white clam chowder was okay. yeah there were a ton of clams but had a different flavor to it than you’d get from other places. didn’t enjoy this different taste too much… California spicy style: i liked it better than the white one. veggies were simmered to softness. was fantastic… if only there weren’t pieces of sand /clamshell in this one it would have been better… half a dozen oysters on the half shell: I believe they upped the price… for some reason i was reading $ 1.50 each for a half dozen or dozen… nope. $ 2 each. they were a bit small. might have been two different varieties of oysters but meh. there wasn’t an extended selection to choose from but i suppose it is a smaller store… tasted fresh and nice but still don’t feel like the price was justified. Entrees: trout, salmon, calamari steak, swordfish sandwich. Trout was bland and tasteless. Salmon was alright. i suppose it’s my fault but i was under the impression it was $ 16. she asked if i wanted the farm raised or wild and i said wild. apparently wild salmon is $ 24. ummmm… was decent but didn’t stand out. calamari breaded steak was good however. seemed like something you could get anywhere. swordfish sandwich was good enough. didn’t strike me as anything special. for a $ 15 sandwich they could at least include some fries that cost them under $ 2 probably. props to the server substituting the salads for chowder for $ 1.5 extra after we had already ordered the chowder separately but i think any establishment with decent service would do that for you. what annoys me the most is that for a place that I paid $ 95 for a meal, you’d think they’d ask you what sauce you wanted your fish cooked with instead of just assuming we want everything plain. So thats why everything turned out bland. yay. San Marino establishments that just assume everyone dining there is upper class and $ 95 /meal is nothing. most likely not coming back unless i want a quick, close fix for oysters…

Have been meaning to come here for ages and it didn’t disappoint. Mind you, JL and I were famished, so we decided we should go for some big portions. Glad we did because they were sized perfectly to satiate. We strolled in around 3pm, so we were the only people in the restaurant. There were a bunch of school kids outside on the patio, so I guess this stretch of sidewalk is popular with the whipper snappers. We received a friendly welcome from the first mate behind the counter. The menu had a wide array of dishes and the lunch specials were still up on the white board. We settled on the fish and chips(dinner portion with 2 fillets: Get this one if you are hungry), two orders of NE clam chowder, side salad, Fish tacos, and a side of slaw. Everything was awesome, but the real standout was the breading on the fish. Kind of cajun and really crispy. Nothing soggy about this cod. Small little problem is that there is only one restroom for the whole restaurant, but it was clean, so not a big deal. If you are wanting a nice cold brew or glass of wine, no dice because they don’t serve alcohol. However, and this is a big plus, you can buy a bottle of wine next door and bring it in. Score! Overall, can’t wait to come back.

Who would’ve thought, a seafood place in San Marino. A quaint little restaurant serving fresh seafood & also sells seafood. Located on a large street with several other businesses. There’s parking up front. Dining area inside is nice & cozy. There’s patio seating as well. A pretty simple menu. Appetizers, Lunch, & Dinner. Daily specials are available off menu on a white board above the display case of seafood that is for sale. Service was nice. Our server was quick to take our order & our water was refilled constantly automatically without us asking. Décor is very nautical & seafood oriented. We ordered Fish Ceviche, Swordfish Sandwich, Bucket of Mussels, & Dungeness Crab Sandwich. Our server asked if we would like our sandwich bread to be toasted. Why not? Toasted sourdough bread is awsome in my books! The sandwiches came out looking heavenly! Nice size & ingredients popping out. I can’t wait to dig in. I personally ordered the Dungeness Crab Sandwich. Beautiful lumps of crab meat & leg meat. Fresh, sweet & firm meat. Dressing was light, tomato made it taste fresh, & the crunch from the lettuce gave a nice texture along with the slight toasty taste of the sourdough. The swordfish was grilled & topped with caramelized onions(almost like a chutney) lettuce & tomato. Both sandwiches came with a house made pickle(unique flavor, almost tastes like the brine had juniper berries) nice touch. Maybe some chips would’ve been even better! The ceviche was nicely done. Firm, fresh white fish, fresh tomatoes, onions & Cilantro. The liquid that pooled tastes similar to Clamato. Taro chips was paired with it. Interesting but worked well. The bucket of black mussels swimmimg in a buttery broth. Looks & smells wonderful! Toasted/grilled sourdough bread on the side to sop up the broth. I wanted to try everything on that menu! I will definitely come back to try other items.
