I have only gotten delivery from this place and for a few years too. I’ll mostly be discussing the meals I have ordered; however, let me first describe the delivery service. Prepare for a long but simple review. All food items that I have ordered and reviewing will also be rated out of 5. The delivery is fast. Does not(and should not) go past a hour. The delivery people are very nice and patient. Tip them generously when you can. Appetizers: — fried chicken wings: are quite decent and crunchy; the meat is juicy and not too salty — it’s something nice if you want that crispy crunch on a chicken 3⁄5 — crab rangoons: honestly, it’s really hard for me to like crab rangoons from other Chinese places and it still stays today. The insides of their rangoons are too… gooey as far as texture goes and it’s really not my cup of tea 1⁄5 — chicken kabobs: these are not too try and the meat is somewhat decent; however, the flavor is a weird mixture of either salty(soy sauce salty) and a bit… dull. There is no smokiness to it at all 3⁄5 Soup: — egg drop soup: I cannot like this at all from them. It’s very goopy and leaves an almost… fish-sauce kind of after taste 2⁄5 — wonton soup: whenever I order this, I would recook it and add chili pepper for a spicy kick. The soup itself is nice and always delivers hot 3⁄5 — hot&sour soup: I find this soup to be pretty decent, but the wonton soup will be my favorite out of the soups I have had so far. The hot&sour, imo, tastes a bit bland but still somewhat holds the flavor 3⁄5 Fried Rice: — I’m going to review the ones included with any lunch/dinner specials. The friend rice here is not good and has never been to my liking at all. It has that very cheap Americanized yellow coloring to it, and there is no fire-smokiness to the rice itself. Rather than being cooked in a wok like many restaurants do, their fried rice tastes like something they made in a frying pan then later stored in a rice cooker. It’s a very disappointing fried rice and will NOT recommend it at all. 0⁄5 Chow Mein: — I was extremely disappointed with their chow mein. Now, mind you, whenever you look at chow mein it has noodles in it — stir fried noodles. What I have received were wet vegetables… with no noodles. Extremely disappointing dish, extremely disgusting. The only taste you can get from this was the watery, salty vegetables swimming about in their own broth. If you want noodles then I suggest you keep reading. 0⁄5 Lo Mein: — vegetable/chicken/beef/house special: it doesn’t matter which you order because it’s all the same. Seriously, the noodles and the taste are all the same. All that is different is the type of protein or veggie you choose. This is my go to whenever I want easy Americanized Chinese food 4⁄5 Chow Mei Fun: — singapore: if you want some light noodles and nothing heavy like the lo mein then I highly recommend these noodles. It is delicious — simple and clean eating 4⁄5 Chicken: prepare for a long list! — crispy cashew chicken: lots of sauce, lots of cashews, not that much chicken… taste-wise it was«alright» 2⁄5 — moo goo gai pan: only ordered this once in my two years of ordering from them and for a good reason. It wasn’t good at all. The combination of the ingredients in the dish were poorly mixed together and everything just tasted too… much in sauce 0⁄5 — zang chi chicken: I thought it would be pretty much their house special chicken b/c of the name but really it wasn’t too different from their general tso chicken 3⁄5 — chicken with garlic sauce: if you want a chicken dish then order this one. It will be pretty similar to the hunan chicken but the garlic sauce is very good. Downside to this and all of their options of making something spicy is that it is never spicy so add your own spice to it 4⁄5 — sweet&sour chicken: the sauce will come on the side but it tastes like the sauce you see at very bad Chinese buffets next to the limpy eggrolls. The chicken is in a small ball of batter and it is dry with the texture of cardboard 1⁄5 — kung pao chicken: just like the cashew chicken, lots of peanuts and little chicken. The sauce has a decent thickness to it but is not too far from the general tso and their named chicken 2⁄5 — szechuan chicken: ok this was interesting. They gave me a lot of their peppers and extremely little chicken. Honestly, I laughed my ass off with friends when we got this because the entire little box was just peppers — dried peppers that they use to make szechuan food and the taste wasn’t spicy at all! unbelievable 0⁄5 — empire chicken: chicken wearing thick coats that you find in the wardrobe that leads to Narnia itself. This batter is EXTREMELY thick and the sauce that is drenched on top of it cakes onto it which makes it into a thicker shell. Once you break open these things, there is so little chicken in them 1⁄5 — hunan chicken: this is somewhat similar to garlic chicken and chicken in garlic sauce 2⁄5 Out of room to write more. Good luck!

Cold and tasteless that’s how I would describe the meal. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Surprisingly pretty nice inside! New TV and tables/chairs. I ordered via phone for carryout. I ordered broccoli in garlic sauce and egg roll. It was ready when I arrived. Tastes great(especially for the price). Service was very nice too. There were two really difficult old women ahead of me and the cashier handled them great and was polite to me, as well. I don’t eat chinese often, but this is close to work so i’m sure I will be back

Average Chinese food; nothing to write home about. If you compare this to other Chinese restaurants in St. Louis, then yes, it is better than most and deserves 3.5 stars. But comparing this to other Chinese take-out places in East or West Coast, it is below average and deserves 2 stars. Hence the 3 stars. The lunch quantity isn’t that much.(Again, East and West Coast Chinese take-out places would give you more.) The fried rice isn’t fried, it is just yellowed rice. If you are lucky, you will find a small piece of eggs in it. What’s up with Crab Rangoon? That’s not Chinese at all. Can’t I get a typical egg roll or cup of soup? I am giving up on local Chinese food in STL. I’ll just get my fix by driving over to the pseudo-Chinatown on Olive once in a while. Even Panda Express is looking more attractive by the day.

Good service, food and menu. Nothing fancy, but neither are the prices. Great value and quick service — especially for lunch, you will get in and out FAST!

A fine choice for fast delivery. The sesame chicken is always good. We got the lemon chicken for the first time. It was ok. Not very strong lemon flavor and kinda runny. We won’t get again. Same thing about the hit braised chicken. Too much breaking. Sauce is just ok. However the crab Rangoon and egg drop soup is aways yummy. It will Malays be our go to for fast delivery Chinese.

Good for quick hole-in-the-wall chinese food.

The food comes out fairly quickly, but I would definitely classify the quality as average-slightly below average. The prices aren’t bad, but I’ve definitely had better Chinese food. It’s ok for a quick bite for lunch. I had the sweet & sour chicken and was rather unimpressed. Several coworkers who also ordered takeout with me had the same reaction.

Zang Chi is great for tasty but cheap Chinese food! I live nearby and have only ordered pick-up not delivery. The ready time quoted for pick-up has always been accurate. I definitely recommend calling ahead for pick-up rather than placing your order there. I have been in a couple times where there is a line of people waiting for food. The portions are huge! My boyfriend and I love Chinese food, and we can easily share one entry(which comes with rice) and one appetizer. At any rate, the portions are great for sharing or for next day leftovers.

I order delivery from Zang Chi a couple times a month and I love it. The food is delicious and hot, and it’s always delivered in at least 40 min, but it usually arrives sooner. They always remember to add the extras I ask for like soy sauce.

Wow, this place has really slipped. I’m sure the Zang Chi Shrimp lunch special was delicious whenever it was fresh but when I received 90 minutes after placing my order it was at best lukewarm. And they forgot the egg drop soup. The crab Rangoon and spring roll were room temp heading toward cold. This used to be a solid lunch delivery option for busy days at the office.

Stopped in for a quick bite. I ordered the orange chicken lunch special, it was ok but I was surprised by the orange yellow colored fried rice. The crab Rangoons weren’t very good and there was no crab in them, sadly disappointed.

So… what does Zang Chi actually mean? One reviewer thought it had to do farts. Not so much… It actually translates more like«everything will grow.» Prosperity is always a good wish! I ordered a lunch special and it was less expensive than a number whatever at the Golden Arches Supper Club. Quite a bit more delicious as well. I went for the general’s chicken and a soda. It came with crab rangoon(delicious) and fried rice(sub-par…nothing but colored rice). I was especially impressed that the chicken pieces were all right about bite-sized and relatively uniform such that they cooked equally. Also, I was impressed that there was a slight burn from the peppers that lingered for a few minutes. The general should NOT be a bland dish and this version delivered. This place is adequate but not exceptional. I would certainly stop by there again if I were on the prowl for an inexpensive lunch and in the area.

I ordered Zang Chi for lunch today and had an awful experience. Springfield style chicken. This is not a Chinese dish as such but their version was so awful that I had to chew gum for an hour to get the taste out of my mouth. I also ordered the Teriyaki beef to round out my delivery minimum. The beef tasted like it has been refrigerated and reheated. Not good at all. I didn’t even finish any of it. The only reason I didn’t give Zang Chi one star because the delivery was prompt and courteous.

I’ve only ever gotten delivery from Zang Chi and I always order online. This helps to ensure that my order arrives exactly as specified instead of having issues ordering over the phone. You place your order online and they will call you within 5 – 10 minutes if you are paying by credit card to get your number, expiration date, etc. The delivery is always super quick and the food is very good for the price I think. You get large portions for very little money and the quality is always good. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant. They have a large menu assortment and everything I’ve tried is very decent quality for a cheap Chinese place.

Look, I’m all about cheap, Americanized Chinese food. While it’s not my first choice of place to eat, every once in awhile I find myself craving a good old overpriced plate of deep friend MSG and glowing Orange chicken, but this place as whack like Aflac! The only thing that got me to try this place was the coupons. Free wontons for a $ 12 purchase? You had me at free. So I order safe choices – Mongolian beef, shrimp chow mein and egg drop soup. I pick up the order, set up a nice plate, and go to town! First of all, it should not be called Mongolian beef. It should be renamed Mongolian Onions with 4 pieces of beef and a poor excuse for a sauce. I know, long title, but people need to know the truth! Secondly, the taste of the chow mein was just awful. The noodles were forgettable, and the aftertaste of each bite was, well just not worth the calories. It was my economical, Korean side that kept me determined to finish my food. Egg drop soup? It was ok, but I felt like it was way too oily. I felt like the ratio of egg/soup to oil was not a favorable one. Ugh. And I burned the roof of my mouth. That’s fault on my part, but it was the cherry on an awful sundae. Next time I want to eat a grease bomb, I think I have some left over sesame oil in my pantry. I can’t believe I’m going to say this but, I’d rather go for some Panda Express.

Someone of Chinese descent once told me that«zang chi» translated into«the fart» or some such. Unfortunately, I have no idea if that’s true or if my acquaintance was just telling tall tales and«ancient Chinese secret» tomfoolery. I do, however, think that Zang Chi-the-restaurant ranks only slightly higher than a fart in awesomeness. I’ve been losing my taste and appreciation for Chinese food over the past year or two, so take this opinion with a grain of salt. But for me, Zang Chi is just mediocre. Sure, there are coupons for fried wontons or crab rangoon that sweeten the deal for many, but those don’t reel me or my friends in because everything is just so… blah. And I’ve never had particularly friendly or quick service, either. I used to live near Zang Chi and would order from here out of convenience, but I always regretted it. Now that I live further away, I’ve only returned twice, and the food and service was just as I had remembered. Or didn’t remember, rather, since all recollections of this place disappeared, just like a fart. P. S. — I can’t believe I wrote this.

No no no! 4 separate times, 4 different people, all of us finding out we have one thing in common… we were all extremely violently sick after eating here. Never again.
