So this place is literally right around the corner from where I lived and yet I had never tried it until yesterday. As with all my reviews I have to point out that I grade on a subjective scale of what a place trying to be, and for example, a 4 star for a diner doesn’t mean the food is comparable to 4 stars from a more upscale Italian restaurant. It means that it is very high quality for a diner. This place is just going for a traditional, lower middle class southern style restaurant, and it pulls it off well. The outside and the neighborhood have made me dismiss it for years, but when you walk inside you are welcomed by an atmosphere that really does feel like a southern grandma’s kitchen. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a sign that told me they only took cash, so after walking out, driving up the street to an ATM to get some and then driving back I came back in and took my seat.(The moral is remember to keep some cash on you at all times). I looked at the menu and was pleased that they keep it relatively simple. It consist of mostly traditional breakfast food; eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, sausage, omelets, etc… So I ordered their western omelet with with a biscuit and a side of gravy and salsa. It came out in relatively good time and I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the omelet. It was comparable to the ones you get at IHOP, and cooked in a similar fashion. The gravy for the biscuit was a touch on the salty side, and most likely came from a bag by the same distributor as many other similar restaurants like Denny’s or IHOP. However the biscuit itself was fluffy with a taste of butter, overall very pleasant. The salsa was mild, and also most likely from a can, though at least they went with a chunky brand. I saw a sign advertizing that they had banana nut and blueberry muffins, but was disappointed when I learned that they were just store bought so I didn’t bother getting one. I will say that while the food isn’t anything super special, it’s a very good value. My bill only came to 6.75 + tip. For that price it’s a good alternative to going to most of the local diners that would have charged me 8 or 9 dollars for the same meal. All in all I’d say it’s a good find for people wanting to eat out for breakfast on a budget. I’d give this place about 78 out of 100, and I’ll probably stop by here again when I don’t feel like cooking breakfast myself.

Went here for breakfast today. The parking lot was full which I attributed to it being a Sunday, with church etc. Almost went to a different place because of the parking and it being right next to the police station… really didn’t want to risk another parking ticket this week. Luckily, a truck left so we got his spot. My boyfriend had eaten here before and kept raving about it. The inside is nothing to write home about. Reminds me a lot of a few places back home(Virginia). Signs on the wall, tins on the shelfs that kind of thing. The menu is basically all breakfast foods. They have a small amount of sandwiches and dinner platters on the back of the menu, but breakfast seems to be their main concentration. I got the rock star meal which was eggs, sausage, American fries(basically thick cut hash browns) and cheese covered with gravy. Yeah I’m really health concious. My boy ordered the same thing only with bacon.(can anyone tell me why bacon is considered so good? Anyone? I think it’s overrated. Also the wrapping of sweets in bacon has got to stop!) the wait for our food wasn’t long, maybe ten minutes. When they came out I was shocked… talk about large portions! My meal could have fed three people! The waiter, Steve seemed to notice our shock because he told us to let him know when we needed to go boxes. The food was pretty good, I’m not the biggest breakfast food fan… it would have been great hangover food though. I had maybe a fourth of my meal and I was full. Steve gave us the to go boxes and they are HEAVY! There’s got go be about three pounds of food remaining! How anyone could clear their plate at that place is beyond me. Might be a good place for an eating contest though? You get a lot for your money, that is for certain. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, hungover, craving grease, or just don’t have a lot of change and want a lot of food, I would suggest this place. If you’re looking for good ambiance or something that doesn’t make you gain five pounds just by looking at it I wouldn’t suggest it.
