Joey B’s in South County was my first introduction to the Gianino family chain of restaurants and it was a pleasant one for the most part. I seem to be the only one who was unaware of the South County location because it doesn’t seem to be struggling for business. I came here with my family on a Saturday night for dinner and we ended up leaving because the wait to get seated was too long. Undeterred, we came for lunch the next day and while still crowded, we were able to grab a seat at the bar while we waited. Joey B’s design seems to be a cross between a typical South County bar restaurant and a more refined dining restaurant. The décor is modern and more fancy than a typical bar or chain restaurant. In this identify crisis, the Moscow Mule somehow got lost in the mix to my disappointment. I settled for a Schlafly IPA on tap instead. When we got seated, I ordered their special which was a Southwest burger with blackened beef patty, avocado, and egg. The burger was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. The egg was perfectly cooked and the avocado and pickles complimented the blackened meat very well adding a freshness and depth to the each bite. The burger itself was slightly overcooked than the medium-well I requested, but there was enough flavor and depth to the seasoning that it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the burger. I also tried the Jalapeño burger and the Sirloin sandwich. I wasn’t as big of a fan of the jalapeño burger, which seems to be a popular choice, because I expected more spiciness given that the beef patty is stuffed with jalapenos and the cheese is a jalapeño cheddar. I could definitely taste the jalapeño flavor but none of the spiciness. The sirloin sandwich was too dry for me, but that may be attributed to it being well done. I would have still liked a sauce or something of that nature. I did like the garlic bread, it was nice and crispy. The service was acceptable, but spotty at times. I don’t normally advocate for rewards programs, but Joey B’s has a rewards card which earns you a point for each dollar spent and 10 $ for each 100 points you earn, giving you a 10% discount essentially. I may have to come drink here more often. Overall, I would recommend checking this place out, preferably on off hours to avoid the rush.

Enjoyed my salad which my husband and I split. The bread was great. Service was fantastic. We split the pork steak which was delicious and the fries wears also good. I do not like French fries but these were crispy and hot. We will definitely keep this place on our radar

Alright. I’ll give this place five stars. The service was excellent. We sat in the bar area. Our server was amazing. We were out for our anniversary, but stuck in South county. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and fried cheese for an appetizer. Both were great.

Busy. Very busy for lunch. Sat at the bar. Ordered Alfredo meat ball sandwich and roasted red pepper soup… YUM! Bartender busy but friendly. Soup was fresh and flavorful, very good. Was a little worried when I ordered the Alfredo meatball sandwich. But it wasn’t too saucy, it had just the right amount of sauce and the meatballs were very good. And the best part is that they make them and partially flatten them so they are easier to eat. Great place for lunch or just to hang out.

Casual but hip & stylish dining room, quality food that’s a good value, fast and attentive service. Bonus points for offering tots as a substitute for fries! Can’t ask for more!

Food is usually really good and can’t go wrong with anything. Just average service… Not sure if she was new or just clueless

One of my favorite places to recommend to family with children visiting me. The food is amazing and affordable. It is also kid friendly, but nice atmosphere. I come here often and the food never disappoints but the service sometimes does to be honest. You can not go wrong with the burgers and the beer cheese soup is awesome. My personal go tos are: roast beef and cheese, chicken spedini sandwich and the buffalo chicken sandwich.

I’ve visited Joey Bs several times since this spring, and it’s great for a group of people as there are many options. The atmosphere is nice enough if you are in a family or group setting. I met a friend there recently and enjoyed the patio for the first time. There was a musician performing and he wasn’t too loud, which I appreciated. My disappointment came with my steamed broccoli and how it was served. I ordered their Hawaiian chicken sandwich which is DELICIOUS. But it came without the broccoli. When the broccoli was being brought to the table, I could smell that it was too old/rotten. The server didn’t give me a chance to question — she dropped it and took off. After I cut into the broccoli I confirmed that it was too old and wasn’t safe to eat. It took a few minutes for the server to return, and I told her the broccoli was bad and asked for french fries instead. She offered no apology and seemed miffed that I wasn’t satisfied with old, smelly food. How could she not have smelled that it wasn’t right when she brought it to me? So, I’m undecided if I will return.

First time dining. Large portion sizes and knowledgeable staff. Had a specialty burger. Beef was fine ground and melted in your mouth tender. Pasta was equally wonderful with large portion size. Will definitely try again.

Great food and incredible portions. The burgers are my favorite and if you want to freak out those in your party who are newbies, order the onion rings for them. Their eyes will bug out once they see onion rings bigger than their fist.

One of the things that helps me when reading a bunch of reviews is the comment, «I always have to wait for a seat.» Bad places don’t get reviews that start with a complaint about a long wait for a table. At lunch and dinner rush you may have to wait for a table but the value for your dollar makes it worthwhile.

I love Joey B’s! The food is always on point! The service is always good for the most part, I understand they are busy most of the time! I come in a couple times a month. My family and I have never had a bad meal. Whatever you order you can’t go wrong. They have a great variety of food and drinks!

We’ve been back to Joey B’s a few times now, so it’s time for an update. The food is generally pretty good, but the service is spotty. Maybe I’m just a grump, but I get really irritated when the restaurant is on a wait, but at the hostess station it’s party time. They could be out there helping clear plates, fill waters, bus tables, whatever it takes to move things along. Maybe I wouldn’t mind it if was one person, but it was THREE essentially non-contributing employees in a packed house. This has been the case on a two or three occasions. We got the Shrimp Spedini. The shrimp were excellent — just perfectly cooked and seasoned. BUT they came on a bed of flashfried spinach. Great idea, but there was so much butter on it, it was really inedible. Every bite was like it came with a teaspoon of melted butter. Our daughter had the grilled cheese and fries and loved it. We’ll probably come back because most of the food we’ve gotten here has been good. But it will probably be when we know it’s not busy.

We were looking for a good place with a patio. Having eaten here a few times before, we thought we’d try it for the patio this time. We were seated right away. It was gorgeous 72 out and immediately served water. Our waitress was attentive and the food was good. I had the turkey bacon wrap & tater tots. I really enjoyed my food. Hubs had Firecracker chicken & fries, which he liked as well. There isn’t anything special about Joey B’s, they have a good selection of different foods and the restaurant and bathrooms are clean. We haven’t had a chance to try the alcoholic beverages, but the bar looks nice and they have a good selection of liquors. They could def do something to make themselves unique, but it doesn’t disappoint if you’re just out for food & conversation.

Was in last night for drinks with some friends. Love the atmosphere and décor. Upon entering we were pleased to see that trivia was going on. Our bartender was not only prompt and friendly but was knowledgeable when i asked about a liquor I’d never seen before. Prices were decent. My group really enjoyed it. Although we didn’t eat there last night, when i have it’s been outstanding. Will recommend and be back for sure.

I came here last night and I’m coming here again today for take out. It’s a fun place with a good bar food menu. Inexpensive food not the healthiest but still good. The house salad is the best! They have a ton of tvs so its a great place to catch sporting events. Tons of parking. They have a big patio so I’m assuming Summer days are pretty fun here. That’s all I’ve got for now. Oh, they also have a location on the hill too.

A fun comforting neighborhood place that I like to go to every now and again. The staff is cool and energetic, Tuesday is trivia night and they have a good amount of TV’s. The place has a nice patio and is consistently busy at strange times like 5:30pm on a Wednesday, a good sign. Love the rewards program too.

Joey B’s is one of the many Gianino family restaurants scattered throughout St. Louis. This location has become a South County hot spot. It’s ALWAYS busy. There are several tv’s throughout the dining and bar areas for all the sports fanatics, and they have a decent size patio to enjoy during the warmer months. The menu consists of sandwiches, burgers, salads, pizza, pasta, and entrees. I’ve tried several different things during my many visits here, and I’ve been pleased with everything I’ve had. A few of my faves are the turkey club sandwich, chicken pesto wrap, and the chicken spinach salad. The portions are huge, especially the pasta dishes… they are more than enough for two to share. During my last visit here with my husband, I chose the chicken pesto wrap(grilled chicken, romaine lettuce, provel cheese, tomato, and onion tossed in a light pesto sauce) with mashed potatoes for my side. Gooood stuff! My husband had the pork tenderloin sandwich topped with melted provel. The sandwich was bigger than his head, but he somehow finished it along with the homemade chips on the side. If you frequent any of the Gianino restaurants(Joey B’s, Frankie G’s, Billy G’s, Scotties, Gianino’s, and a few others), be sure to sign up for one of their loyalty cards. You earn a point for every dollar spent, and every 100 points is $ 10 off. We used our reward last night and dinner for two only cost about $ 13… score!
