Dados Cafe

Right off the bat, I was confused walking in this place. There is a counter/​register at the front door with a pile of to-​go menus sitting next to it. I was not sure if we were supposed to order at the register then seat ourselves while we waited for food (like Noodles and Company). Nope. Apparently, they seat you, bring you a menu, and then take your order like at a regular restaurant. But since we were not greeted when we walked in and offered a seat, I proceeded to look like an idiot trying to order… next time I’ll know better. The restaurant was slow (only one other table was seated), so maybe everyone was just taking a break when we showed up.
The menu is random/​varied– Greek, sandwiches, burgers, salads, bar-​type appetizers. If you can’t find something you like, then you just don’t like food. I ordered a burger (you have the option of a single, double or triple). I was able to add cheese and grilled mushrooms. I expected an extra charge for adding extras, but nope. That was a welcome surprise. There are also specialty burgers already on the menu loaded up with toppings if you don’t want to «make your own.» The burger (cooked to your preferred temperature) was served with a very generous portion of steak fries. They needed salt, but salt is on the table… so no complaints there.
My dining companion ordered the gyro sandwich. He was so happy that it was served wrapped up in foil to keep all the goodies inside the pita (similar to a Chipotle burrito where you can peel the foil down gradually as you eat so that you don’t have a mess on your hands, or on your plate). He was able to add feta for about fifty cents more. The gyro had the choice of fries or soup on the side. He ordered soup, but was served fries (about half the amount I had on the side of my burger). About halfway through eating, the server came out with the soup and apologized for it not being ready at the same time as the rest of the food. I’m thinking she just forgot about the soup and only realized her mistake when she came back over and saw we both had fries.
Overall they could use a little bit more training of the hostess/​server to make sure customers are greeted/​seated promptly and to make sure the correct food is being served. I’ll definitely go back– gotta support small local businesses, right?

Dados is a fairly new little café in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood. For me it’s a great place to grab a quick lunch. It’s conveniently located on Hampton Avenue near Eichelberger.
I stopped by one day during the holidays, when I needed to rejuvenate myself after some power shopping. The menu is simple and my eyes were immediately drawn to the Mile High BLT. I can tell you, there is no comparison with the one you get at Crown Candy Kitchen. Dados does it way better. They toasted the bread perfectly, just enough mayo, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato and of course crisp and crunchy bacon. I was glad to see that the fries they offered as a side, were the thick cut Steak fries. They’re my favorite. I would have liked them to have been fried a little more crisper, but my BLT was so good I didn’t mind.
I plan to stop by again to try some of their Greek dishes like the salad and gyro. Also, a burger with those big steak fries would be a nice lunch, too.

I love this place! The spinach pies are so good! Great service, family owned, and great prices. Lots of options on the menu.

Yummy. We had the Greek combination platter with pastitio, dolmades and spinach pie and chicken kabobs. Both came with a small salad. Everything was great! Great flavors, good service and a nice spot. We will definitely be there again!

Dados was ok. The joint was clean and nicely designed. Our server was prompt and attentive. Kitchen turnaround, on the other hand, was terribly slow– we were the only table sat in the restaurant and our orders were uncomplicated. The hummus was disappointing; thick, coarse and we actually had to spread it on the pita wedges with a knife. The Greek Salad was outstanding, though it lost points for the pitted Kalamata olives. We’re big boys and girls, and we can negotiate olive pits, thank you. We both ordered gyros– that’s the baseline, right? The gyro meat seemed to be a cut above other outlets’ offerings. It was rich, delicious and the portion was generous. The meat was rolled in a nicely grilled pita, with a light, tangy feta, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, my only complaint was that it would have benefited from a bit more tzatziki sauce. The accompanying steak fries were the classic Greek diner choice, crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. As of December 21, 2015, Dados didn’t have a liquor license, though the waitress said that this was in the works. Dining Companion and I were both generally pleased with Dados and look forward to returning to for their other Greek dishes, as well as their American offerings. There was ample private parking in the rear of the restaurant. I can foresee upgrading our rating as they figure things out and grow into their space.

Service was sloooooow. It took us an hour and half for a sandwich and a salad. The food was fine, but if you’re looking for a good gyro, SoCo Deli on Lindbergh is much better. The overdressed salad was not worth $ 10.99. The gyro was a good price, but my husband said the meat was dry and it was just ok. (He really liked the gyros at SoCo and The Little Greek Corner.)
The atmosphere was bland and the tv with ultimate fighters beating each other bloody was not very appetizing. We won’t go back.

We’ve eaten there three different times. Once in the restaurant and the others were called in and picked up. Burger was really good along with Greek salad. Discovered the chicken gyro — really good too!

Go check this place out! The Mile High BLT is excellent! They are generous with the delicious bacon and the bread is oh so good, lightly buttered and toasted (it’s Fazio’s bread, yum!). The chicken strips are good and seem hand-​breaded. I loved the fries. They are thick steak fries, obviously cooked in a hot oil because they have a nice crisp along the edges and are not greasy. I don’t like most baklavas, but Dado’s baklava is fantastic. The décor is fresh and contemporary and our waitress was so charming and helpful. Dados is well on its way to becoming a neighborhood fixture.

New casual Greek restaurant in a strip mall on Hampton Avenue in Front of Bishop DuBourg High School. They serve a few American items (burgers/​wings), as well as traditional Greek food (saganaki/​dolmades/​kabobs/​gyro). I ordered dolmades. It came with salad for $ 8.95. Yum! Ample parking in tear of building.
