I went here as a joke one day driving around, and was blown away by this low-price fastfood option. The fish, hush puppies, and fries were top notch as far as fried fast food goes. Not the friendliest service but who cares, I got my seafood craving fed for only $ 7. New favorite fast food restaurant.

GREAT food with HORRIBLE staff. I give up. I love Captain D’s, but when the staff has personal conversations across the dining room over our heads, I just could not give them a higher rating. Just today, a man was on his phone having a very inappropriate conversation using questionable language and I was shocked when a manager came out and started talking to him. Yes, another worker on break. How rude is that. I love the food, but won’t be returning.

Had a good time during Sunday lunch at this location. We were helped at the front by Darren, who had a great sense of humor. The four of us in my party ended up getting different meal deals so that we could sample a larger variety of menu items. I liked that there were healthier menu items, including vegetable sides like the green beans & ham and broccoli. There were four kinds of sauces at the condiments station: ketchup, honey mustard(my favorite of the four), cocktail sauce, and tartar sauce. — Cheesy hush puppies: these came out hot and I liked them a lot. — Regular hush puppies: I liked these just as much as the cheesy ones. — Surf & Turf: The surf was fine(grilled shrimp on a skewer), the turf left something to be desired. Why would anyone get land animal meat at a seafood restaurant? I didn’t think this one through and really just liked that the menu item rhymed. :| — Stuffed crab: I liked this okay. Not my favorite thing to eat, but I had fun digging the stuffing out. — Clam strips: Nothing wrong here, good with honey mustard. — 2-piece catfish: I liked this. Went well with the tartar sauce, of course. — Bananas foster bites: Intense! It was good, but one was enough. Split this with a friend or three. I’d eat here again.

I went in with pretty low expectations, but this fast food seafood joint is just not good. I’d be willing to overlook greasiness if anything was actually tasty, but everything was just stale and sad. Fried seafood was limp and flavorless, while the sides were soaked in mayo.

It might seem counter intuitive to both love a place’s efficiency and loathe how small their filets have become over the years, but such is this case with this Captain D’s outlet. During Lent(along with every other time that I’ve ever visited… mostly Lent…), I was highly impressed with how quickly the operation was moving, despite the significant uptick in traffic. A small clock above the drive-thru window seemed to be showing a goal of 4 minutes and 30 seconds to turn orders around, a reasonable wait for a freshly fried meal from a slammed restaurant. It’s all the more reasonable considering the alternatives: church fish fries aren’t known for their speed in most cases and the Long John Silver’s on Hampton had wait times above 30 minutes during some Fridays this year. I agree completely with fellow Unilocaler Sarah Jane P: the service is surprisingly consistent. This location includes a good-sized dining room with soda fountain(Coke) and a small-ish parking lot with access to both Grand and Manchester(it’s walkable from the Metrolink station as well).
